Doch der unabwendbare Klimawandel verändere alles und mache – so Landwehr – unseren Planeten selbst zum historischen Akteur: „Die Menschheit sieht sich zum ersten Mal in einer Situation, in der sie die Konsequenzen ihres eigenen Handelns nicht mehr selbst in der Hand hat.“ Der Mensch habe die Krise selbst herbeigeführt, sei nun aber nicht mehr in der Lage sie zu lösen, so Landwehr: „Diese Veränderungen und der Klimawandel, inklusive Konsequenzen, werden nicht weggehen. Der Mensch bewegt sich im Raum und erfährt Zeit. Doch aber was genau verstehen wir unter dem Begriff "Zeit"? Vergangenheit, Gegenwart, Zukunft? Was davon ist real, was vom Menschen konstruiert? Ist die Abfolge von Tag und Nacht oder von Winter, Frühling, Sommer und Herbst nur eine menschliche Erfindung oder gibt es etwas Unhintergehbares, das wir Zeit nennen und das vom Menschen unbeeinflusst ist? Und wenn Zeit menschengemacht ist, von welchen Menschen? Welche Zeitverständnisse dominieren die Welt? Und welche anderen gibt es noch? Mit diesen Fragen setzt sich der Frühneuzeithistoriker Prof. Dr. Achim Landwehr von der Universität Düsseldorf in seinem neuen Buch auseinander und wendet sie dabei auf die Geschichtsschreibung an. Sind wir alle gleichzeitig jetzt? Geschichtsschreibung unter den Bedingungen der Vielzeitigkeit. Die Geschichte - sie ist überall präsent. Seit mehr als zwei Jahrhunderten sind nicht nur westliche Gesellschaften gewohnt, in diesem Kollektivsingular zu denken und mit ihm zu leben. Dieser übermächtigen Gesamtheit alles Geschehen(d)en wird nicht nur eine umfassende Wirkmacht, sondern eine ebenso grundlegende Erklärungsfunktion zugeschrieben. Das paradoxe Ergebnis: Alles hat eine Geschichte, außer die Geschichte selbst. Spätestens jedoch seit sich die europäisch-westlich geprägte Geschichtswissenschaft mit ihrem sehr speziellen Begriff von Geschichte im Rahmen postkolonialer Diskussionen auch mit anderen Verständnissen von Zeitlichkeit und Veränderung konfrontiert sieht, wird deutlich, wie problematisch dieses Geschichtsverständnis ist. Allein, es mangelte an Alternativen. Mit dem zentralen Begriff der Chronoferenz wird in diesem Buch ein theoretischer wie auch in Einzelstudien erprobter Vorschlag für eine andere Art der Historiographie gemacht - ein Vorschlag, der die Fähigkeit des Menschen ernst nimmt, gleichzeitig in und mit unterschiedlichen Zeiten zu leben. On this week's episode I was joined by Mr. Kansas Jon Landwehr! Jon resides in Kansas where over the last three years he has killed TWO 200+ deer and one 170+!
