July 10, 1981, Skidmore, Missouri. A man climbs into the cab of his pick-up truck after leaving the D & G Tavern. He starts the truck. Pausing to light a cigarette, shots ring out behind and in front of him, shattering glass and killing the man inside. Forty-five people witnessed the shooting, but when it was over, no one called 911. After picking up the shell casings, the people of this small farming community went on about their business. The dead man inside the truck had robbed, raped, burned and shot the townspeople of Skidmore without ever paying the price. So they took their own pound of flesh and never spoke of it again. This is the mysterious murder of Ken Rex McElroy. "When a person is set loose by the courts to go back to the community they have been preying on, what recourse do the citizens of that community have then?"On the morning of 10 July 1981, 47-year-old Ken Rex McElroy went to a tavern in Skidmore, Missouri. The pub quickly filled up with other local townspeople, many of whom had lived in fear of the other man for years. After finishing a drink, Ken began walking out to his pickup truck and was shot twice. He died at the scene. As the shooting took place right outside of the crowded tavern, there were later determined to be 46 potential witnesses to the murder, including Trena McElroy, Ken's young wife. Only one, Trena herself, would ever attempt to identify a culprit...Research & writing by Olivia ParadiceHosting & production by Micheal WhelanLearn more about this podcast at http://unresolved.meIf you would like to support this podcast and others, consider heading to https://www.patreon.com/unresolvedpod to become a Patron or ProducerThis show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/3266604/advertisement

Today, Laura, Krysta and Dean visit the small farming town of Skidmore, Missouri. Picture this, you live in a small farming community and one of your neighbors is a thief and a known bully. He has been tried 20 times and has never been convicted. He intimidates witnesses by following them home or parking in front of their house. He intimidates others to lie on his behalf as 'witnesses'...and he shoots the owner of the local grocery store. The store owner survives and finally, the bully is convicteed of assault, but allowed to bond out while he awaits his appeal and loudly threatens the store owner to anyone who would listen. Then picture that bully climbing behind the wheel of his truck only for several people to fire weapons with two bullets striking and killing him. No one is ever accused or arrested in his killing. That is the story of Ken Rex McElroy, the bully of Skidmore, Missouri in a story you will have to hear to believe in the latest edition of the Family Plot Podcast! This show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/4670465/advertisement
This week Velma brings us an INSANE case that leads to Daphne using quite a few curse words, so not only warnings for a disturbing case but also Daphne's sailor mouth. But she's justified you'll see. She isn't writing this description rn either. anyway. Ken McElroy is a nasty bastard that deserved every bit of what he got. And Daphne thinks that he should have been taken care of way earlier, and that vigilante justice should be doled out more frequently (: --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/stir-the-pot-pod/support

On the morning of July 10th, 1981, shots rang out in the small town of Skidmore, Missouri. Outside of the D&G Tavern, the engine of a truck could be heard roaring to life, until it gave out, and eventually the engine blew. In the truck was the body of Ken Rex McElroy, who was known in Skidmore as the “town bully.” Incredibly, with dozens of people surrounding the truck when the shooting took place, there were no witnesses who could identify the shooter, or shooters, besides McElroy's wife, who was in the truck beside him when he was shot. ***TRIGGER WARNING*** Murder - Rape of a Child / Child Abuse - Animal Abuse - Arson - Gun Violence - Vigilantism Hang with us: Follow Us on Instagram Like Us on Facebook Join our Case Discussion Group on Facebook Get Killer Queens Merch Bonus Episodes Support Our AMAZING Sponsors: Living Juice: Go to drinkinglivingjuice.com and use code KILLER20 at checkout for 20% off your first purchase! Ken McElroy had been the town bully for rural Skidmore, Missouri for many decades. He was a man that had a very intimidating look and his bite was definitely worse than his bite. By July of 1981, Skidmore residents had had enough of being bullied by this man and were ready to stand up to him once and for all. The true events that played out of July 10, 1981 outside a local tavern cannot be determined. What can be determined though is: no one saw anything. The murder of Ken Rex McElroy isn't ‘unsolved' in the typical sense of the word. It wasn't the kind of murder which goes unsolved for decades and eventually someone comes forward with the tip that breaks the case open. This is far from what happened in the case of McElroy. In fact, anywhere between thirty and ninety people witnessed the shooting of the 270lb brute of a man on that hot July day in 1981. But not one person has come forward. A pact of silence was made between the witnesses. --------- Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/crimeandcomedy Tutti i Podcast: https://link.chtbl.com/CrimeandComedy Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/crimeandcomedy.podcast/ Telegram: https://t.me/crimeandcomedy Sito: https://www.crimeandcomedy.it Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/crimeandcomedy/ Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/c/CrimeComedy Instagram: Clara Campi: https://www.instagram.com/claracampicomedy/ Marco Champier: https://www.instagram.com/mrchreddy/ Caricature - Giorgio Brambilla: https://www.instagram.com/giorgio_brambilla_bookscomedy/ Learn more about your ad choices.
