Welcome you legends! This is piece is a reflection on his state of mind, his exposure to suffering, what suffering meant to him, and the terrible yet enormous knowledge earned from enduring such suffering. This will be a dry read, as I find these sorts of piece are better heard with just the spoken word. Enjoy you lovely listeners!
Welcome, welcome, you lovely souls. Today I have for you 10 poems, dry read, so that means no music, just my voice alone, narrating Isaac Rosenberg's rich yet sad poems. They speak of war, death, creation, loss, and melancholy. Surely a set of poems to evoke emotion. Isaac wrote poetry about the trenches in World War 1, where he would be shot and killed. He was both a war poet and a painter, and wrote poems that questioned our humanity, and humans relationship with God, spirituality, and the grief brought upon by death. Although his time with us was short, his poetry lives on his collections, and also, this episode. Enjoy!
Phillip Marlowe receives a call from Hellen Palmer…a women worried, a women scared, and rightfully so, because in a couple of seconds on said call with Hellen Palmer, she is shot…point blank. She gasps, then “No” before falling dead. Marlowe rushes, bolts it down where she lives to find…a party?
