Today on the show, we talk to powerhouse couple David and Robin Dubin, who founded Alive and Kickn to advocate for those with the Lynch gene. At age 29, Dave was diagnosed with colon cancer and Lynch Syndrome. Few have heard of it, but Dave and Robin are trying to change that. Because Lynch is a genetic pre-condition to cancer that affects 1 out of every 279 people, and most people don't even know they have it. Dave and Robin talk about survivorship, pre-vivorship, and the importance of genetic testing.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Lynch syndrome is a common and often under-diagnosed inherited condition that increases one's risk for a variety of cancers, including colon, rectal, uterine, ovarian, urinary tract, and others. Many individuals with a Lynch mutation develop related cancers at a much younger age than the general population. According to the National Cancer Institute, “It is estimated that 1 in every 280 Americans are living with Lynch Syndrome." Most people living. with this inherited condition are unaware of it, or are diagnosed only after they have developed cancer.Dave Dubin, Founder of “Alive and Kickn”and three-time Lynch Syndrome cancer survivor shares his personal story and talks about the inspiring work his organization is doing through research, advocacy, education and screening.

On this episode of The Dismantling You Podcast, I'm talking with three-time cancer survivor, David Dubin. He has a genetic form of colon cancer called Lynch Syndrome. It has been passed down from his grandfather to his father to him and now to his kids. Scientists estimate that about 1 in 279 people carry a Lynch Syndrome mutation. David and his wife Robin are the founders of Alive and Kickn, a foundation with a mission to improve the lives of individuals and families affected by Lynch Syndrome. The foundation focuses on research, education, and screening. "Alive" comes from the fact that David is very much alive and enjoying life, despite cancer's best efforts to take him down. "Kickn" comes from his passion for soccer. David Dubin is the Lynch Syndrome OG. What?! Never heard of Lynch Syndrome? Let us break it down for you in today's episode. Basically it's is a genetic glitch that makes some of us more likely to develop cancer. Scientists estimate that about 1 in 279 people carry a Lynch Syndrome mutation. David and I happen to be among the 1s in the 279s. A three-time cancer survivor, David and his wife Robin are the founders of Alive and Kickn, a foundation with a mission to improve the lives of individuals and families affected by Lynch Syndrome. The foundation focuses on research, education, and screening. "Alive" comes from the fact that David is very much alive and enjoying life, despite cancer's best efforts to take him down. "Kickn" comes from his passion for soccer, although he confesses on today's episode that his game is a tad rusty. Check out the incredible impact Alive and Kickn is making at https://www.aliveandkickn.org/ (https://www.aliveandkickn.org/) Also check out the Living With Lynch page, a collaboration between Alive and Kickn and the Colon Cancer Coalition. Welcome to The First Episode of Kickn' The Keg Podcast. Brandon And Kristen Introduce the show by discussing what life is really like as 21 year olds during a pandemic.
Recently, I was on Dave Dubin’s podcast, “Alive and Kickn” and we talked about Lynch Syndrome. Often called hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer (HNPCC), Lynch Syndrome is an inherited disorder that increases the risk of many types of cancer, particularly cancers of the colon. Dave lives with the condition, and we talked about how Lynch also increases the risk of ovarian cancer and endometrial cancer for women who have HNPCC. Dave very generously let me share the interview on The Egg Whisperer Show podcast, and you can tune in to learn more about Lynch, and it’s impact on fertility.
