Chef Lance Roll (aka The Flavor Chef) and founder of The Brothery joined us in studio with a a whole crew for the live episode. The entire thing is going to be aired on Youtube in video format sometime in the near future. I originally heard of Chef Lance while doing some research on the healing properties (particularly for the gut and digestive tract) of bone broth. I stumbled across a video with him and a friend of our Sean Croxton (links below) making some bone broth in his kitchen. Because I knew how healing it was for the gut I had to track this guy down. Turns out a store just down the street carried his exact bone broth! It's amazing what comes into your life when you set an intention and put it out there that you want it. We make our own bone broth but we also buy his. We love making our own organic chicken bone broth but to be honest he makes it way better and it's a lot easier that way. Bone broth has been used over the years to heal the gut. There are minerals and vitamins in the stock that you just can't get strictly from vegan foods. People throughout time have been using bone broth for IBS (irritable bowel syndrome), colitis, crohn's disease, leaky gut, auto immune disease and other digestive maladies. In fact Kate recently fasted on nothing but water, green juices and bone broth and said it was one of the most healing things she's ever done. Bone broth should be a part of everybody's daily dietary protocol. It's one of the most soothing and healing foods. The collagen in particular helps to seal the intestinal gut lining and coat the tract to help better absorb nutrients. Many are familiar with the digestive soothing properties of bone broth, but the benefits of properly prepared broth from healthy animals extends far past that. Gelatin is a complex of amino acids that has a huge beneficial effect on the brain, organs, tissues and glands. Enjoy this interview with Lance Roll, the Flavor Chef, where he breaks it down. The anti-stress effects of gelatin and the stabilizing effects on the nervous system should not be underestimated. We swim in a soup of glyphosate and non-native electromagnetic fields. Gelatin helps fortify our system to handle both of those toxins. Order Flavor Chef bone broth here: www.bonebroth.com Use discount code MATT10 to save 10%! Aaron Zober concludes his All about the Beef series with a show devoted to bone broth. In the previous episodes, he focused on the meat. Aaron now reminds people that part of being an appropriate omnivore is using every part of the animals. And using bones from sustainable animals allows you to make healthy, nutrient dense, and flavorful bone broth. He brings on Lance Roll, founder of The Brothery to discuss everything broth related. Lance talks about his training under Paul Chek in the C.H.E.K. Institute and how he became known as The Flavor Chef. All of this led to him beginning his broth business. Aaron and Lance also talk about how the Weston A. Price Foundation has done a lot to bring bone broth to the forefront.

www.AlternativeHealthTools.com Chef Lance Roll says "Love is the ultimate spice." Simple Bone Broth to AMAZING Bone Broth: I get asked all the time, "how do I use this broth?" First, I want to state that we create all of our broths to medicinal quality using the traditional brewing method to ensure the highest nutrient density and the most delicious flavor. We like to call it what it is, a traditional sipping broth. That said, over the next few weeks I'll share my top favorite ways to use our very own bone broth. Each of the recipes to follow builds off the next and know that there are many variations according to your likes and dislikes. Before we begin, a lot of you also wonder, "what time of day and how much should I consume?" Again, this is very subjective but it has been suggested that drinking broth in the morning is a great way to charge up your day. I like to have at least one cup of broth a day. The science also supports using the broth at night as the broth then gives the intestinal lining a nice coating of gelatin that can be effective in healing all sorts of gut issues. As the body rests and rejuvenates during sleep, the immune system within the gut is getting much needed nutrients and the collagen/gelatin is helping to heal the actual surface of the digestive system allowing for greater absorption of nutrients and overall healing! Now let's ease into things with my first "recipe," The Basic Cup. To make The Basic Cup, simply use 8 - 10 ounces of your favorite flavor of The Flavor Chef Bone Broth, add a pinch of Real Salt, heat and enjoy! That was easy! Of course, everyone has a preference for the type of salt they like. We like and use Real Salt. We just ask that you utilize a quality sea salt that contains a high concentration of naturally occurring minerals. This ensures the highest nutrient density and keeps in line with our real traditional and healing food mentality. More on “Simple Bone Broth to AMAZING Bone Broth.” Health Tip Love yourself. Bone broth is growing in popularity for all of the right reasons. It offers an astounding number of benefits for our health. In today's episode, chef Lance Roll explains how first and foremost, it helps heal our gut, improving our digestion and the absorption of nutrients from all that we eat. Broth has anti-inflammatory properties, in addition to healthy fats and minerals. It makes an excellent recovery drink for athletes and many consider it something of a "weight loss secret." You can hear the excitement in Lance's voice as he tells stories about individuals whose conditions cleared up from eczema and leaky gut, to ulcerative colitis. Lance was once a chef who was primarily concerned with making flavorful dishes; since he became familiar with the Weston A. Price Foundations and the Wise Traditions diet, he makes sure to cook up dishes that are nutrient-dense, as well as flavorful!

The Bone Broth Process Chicken soup and bone broth isn’t just good for the soul: there’s a reason that it’s prescribed by doctors and mothers alike when you’re feeling under the weather. All bone broths: beef, chicken, fish, lamb and more are staples in the traditional diets of every culture because bone broths are nutrient-dense, easy to digest, rich in flavor and–they boost the body’s ability to heal. Chef Lance Roll takes us through the process by which bone broth is made, and how long the certain process takes. Bone broth can be done at home or obtained from external sources - but we have to make sure we get them from certified organic suppliers and that the animals were treated without cruelty. B.R.O.T.H.: Blessed Return Of Traditional Healing Your body doesn’t recognize chemicals; it recognizes food. Chef Lance is a big believer in using food as a healing modality, and he talks about how our bodies don’t really react to the chemicals in the things we eat. He goes back to the traditional way of cooking - prep it, cook it, eat it. There is an emphasis here on the importance of authentic food - food that can actually be recognized by the body, and therefore can be digested and used for healing and repair. Did you know that there is a reason that homemade chicken soup is a first line of defense in an illness and that it’s served in hospitals? Though unfortunately, a lot of hospitals have switched to the artificial MSG-infused versions. But broth or stock has a long history as a nourishing super food that supports joint health, skin and hair and nails strength, gut health, illness recovery, and so much more, but we’ve lost this traditional food in our culture. Today’s guest and I are here to talk about why we need to make this super food popular again. Chef Lance Roll has been a professional chef for 25 years. He’s the owner and president of The Flavor Chef, which was founded in 2007. It’s an organic catering company and farm-to-table company in brothery that uses only local and organic ingredients and sustainable food products. And I’ve had the pleasure of eating his cooking before and it’s also absolutely delicious. So, Chef Lance, welcome and thank you so much for being here. Lance: Thank you, Katie. I’m so excited to talk to your audience today about this amazing product I’ve been making and dreaming about for a long time. Katie: Yeah, well, and I’d love to jump in with that because I know I became a huge fan of broth when we did the GAPS protocol and reversed my son’s dairy allergy, but I’d love
