Chef Lance Roll (aka The Flavor Chef) and founder of The Brothery joined us in studio with a a whole crew for the live episode. The entire thing is going to be aired on Youtube in video format sometime in the near future. I originally heard of Chef Lance while doing some research on the healing properties (particularly for the gut and digestive tract) of bone broth. I stumbled across a video with him and a friend of our Sean Croxton (links below) making some bone broth in his kitchen. Because I knew how healing it was for the gut I had to track this guy down. Turns out a store just down the street carried his exact bone broth! It's amazing what comes into your life when you set an intention and put it out there that you want it. We make our own bone broth but we also buy his. We love making our own organic chicken bone broth but to be honest he makes it way better and it's a lot easier that way. Bone broth has been used over the years to heal the gut. There are minerals and vitamins in the stock that you just can't get strictly from vegan foods. People throughout time have been using bone broth for IBS (irritable bowel syndrome), colitis, crohn's disease, leaky gut, auto immune disease and other digestive maladies. In fact Kate recently fasted on nothing but water, green juices and bone broth and said it was one of the most healing things she's ever done. Bone broth should be a part of everybody's daily dietary protocol. It's one of the most soothing and healing foods. The collagen in particular helps to seal the intestinal gut lining and coat the tract to help better absorb nutrients. If you are interested Chef Lance is running a promotion exclusively for Extreme Health Radio listeners on his bone broth. Click here and enter the code extreme10 to get 10% off your order. I'm not sure how long the discount will last so make sure to grab it before it goes away! :) Thanks Chef Lance for being so kind to our listeners! On this episode of The LeadUp Podcast, Mike is joined by special guest, host of The Quote of the Day Show, Sean Croxton! Mike and Sean discuss a multitude of topics including expanding your self-image, how to let go of excuses, improving your commitment, and dealing with anxiety. Sean shares about his career as a Health Coach and how it made him realize that a lot of people use a Be, Do, Have formula to achieve success when really people need to focus on the way they think and feel in order to chase their true goals. Mike and Sean discuss how we can't lead well if we don't think and feel well and how that relates to long-term commitment and action. Sean specializes in money mindset and provides us with an insight into some of the most important practices you need to be implementing into your daily routines. Sean speaks about some of his favorite podcasts and book and makes a special note to Life Unlocked by Dr. Srinivasan Pillay as chapter 3 takes you through how most people want success but they don't even realize that they fear success. People fear the unknown and success is full of the unknown. They talk about how impactful mindfulness is and how your brain is a belief confirmation machine and will shape your reality based on what you believe to be true. Sean Croxton is a Certified Transformational Neurocoach who uses brain science to help online entrepreneurs, coaches, and course creators break through their mental blocks so they can take action, be seen, and stand out in a crowded niche. Sean's career online spans over a decade as one of the first YouTubers and podcasters in the holistic health space. As the founder of Underground Wellness, he hosted over 300 health-based interviews on his UW Radio podcast and created 7 popular online health events, including The Digestion Sessions and The Depression Sessions. One of my mentors, Sean Croxton, has this saying: Little by little, a little becomes a lot. So true! If you want to have any result in life, you must start with what you have, no matter how small it seems. By principle, we are designed to multiply and increase. This is how God planned it. But for so many of us, we allow impatience, disbelief, and lack of commitment, to hold us back. The result? We never realize some of our greatest dreams and desires. Now, that's a shame. I attended a webinar a couple of weeks ago hosted by Sean Croxton from his website, seancroxton.com. In the webinar, he talked about our limiting mindset when it comes to making money. Our brains protect us which can actually stop us from acquiring abundance. In Episode 43 I talk about the question; What does commitment mean? Our brain is wired to block us from change. This has happened to me several times when I decided to make a change. Has it ever happened to you that you decided to improve yourself and an assortment of negative things started happening? This is your brain blocking your change. Soon you will slip back into your old habits. Most New Year's resolutions only last till January 14th. This is why gyms are crowded in January and empty out in February.

In episode 5 of The Mindful Surfer Podcast, Will and Liam are bringing you tips for body fat in surfing. They are talking about avoiding particular food or drink in diets, and the importance of mindfulness in any new habit. It may be better to ask yourself "what can I eat to feel well" while eating real food, then it is to struggle while counting calories. Further, They discuss mindfully exercising and choosing functional fitness instead of an aesthetic one, without comparing yourself to professional athletes. It is better to listen to your body and take rests, because as Will says, "there is always the opportunity to choose a new way." In the end, Will and Liam discuss being realistic about your goals, while appreciating things that are working, instead of focusing on ones that are not. On today's episode, we'll talk about 'She's Beyond the Food Chapter 6-My Journey 2.0' From Shame to Fame. That was the title of episode 101 of The Beyond The Food Show Podcast in which I shared my in-depth personal story for the first time. I asked one of my friends Sean Croxton to interview me. I gave him carte blanche... the result was amazing. My Story 1.0 As a public figure, I had shared my origin story in occasion before mainly inside my programs or during my public workshop but never to this level of vulnerability of this interview. Certainly, I remember being very anxious before, during, and after the recording. But the greatest gift came a few days after the interview when it hit me: I no longer need to hide my imperfections, my mistakes, my errors. That is to say, although I was scared of what people would say, the relief of being completely transparent was by far greater. From Shame to Fame episode 101 of our Intuitive Eating podcast was just another chapter in my story... She's Beyond the Food: My Life Story From that interview, I gradually became more confident in sharing the events in my life that brought me to the greatest learning. To synthesize the failure into learning. To process the lowest points in my life into inspiring stories that support my life's teaching. She's Beyond The Food podcast episode series was born in March 2019 with Chapter 1 when I shared my business struggle. I shared with the audience how I faced a business failure and how I changed this event. It was by far one of the most well-received episodes because of the vulnerability I was willing to express and share. The lesson here: the teacher teaches best when not perfect. So, I decided to build upon this impactful episode and released: Episode 183-Chapter 2: I shared my life long struggle with exercise Episode 187-Chapter 3: I shared my journey quitting Keto Episode 190-Chapter 4: My experience gaining weight in public eyes Episode 195–Chapter 5: My journey in accepting my body She's Beyond the Food Chapter 6 Today's episode is about She's Beyond The Food Chapter 6-it's my story 2.0. It's a follow up to episode 101 From Shame to Fame in which I shared 7 lessons learned from my experienced life up to now. The stories that made me who I'm today. The stories that crafted the Going Beyond The Food Method. Lesson 1: Weight stigma is real and freaking powerful Lesson 2: Diet Culture is a powerful monster but it's optional Lesson 3: Repeat or evolve… my choice. Lesson 4: It's Beyond the Food Lesson 5: Wellness Diet & healthy body Lesson 6: You can't hate yourself to happiness or health Lesson 7: Intuitive Eating: gateway to health & happiness Life happens to me or for me One of the biggest lessons I shared in this episode is the shift that I had to do in my late thirties where I stopped looking at life happening to me but instead life happening for me. I spent 25 years believing that I was the victim of the external circumstances and that life was working against me. In other words, I was in the victim mindset... That victim mindset kept me going in circle for 25 years chasing one diet after another and with every failure I was angrier at the world and resentful of my life. In fact, I lost and gain large amounts of weight at least 12 times never learning anything from each failure but instead repeating the same formula the next time. And then one day, every part of me collapsed. I hit my rock bottom and was forced to look at myself and my life from a different perspective. With faith and coaching, I gradually shifted to a mindset of “Life happens for me, not to me”. I began the process of asking myself: What can I learn from this event? What is this person trying to teach me? With every question came learning, growth, and transformation. I took back my power and my life. I shifted to being in charge of my life instead of being the victim of life. Are you willing to be uncomfortable? Knowing what I know today, what I've learned from my lessons and my teachers is that what was holding me back in the victim mindset, the life-happens-to-me-not-for-me mindset, was the unwillingness to be uncomfortable. When you shift to being empowered, one thing becomes clear really quickly... things will get uncomfortable. Why? Simply because you have no one else to blame but you! You see when you assume full responsibility, you must be willing to be uncomfortable. The willingness to be uncomfortable is what kept me stuck for 25 years but at the same time crafted the most beautiful journey for my life. It's also what keeps some of my students from transforming when they start feeling discomfort, they disappear and go back to their comfort zone. I hope that today's episode She's Beyond The Food Chapter 6 - My story 2.0 inspires you to begin the process of writing your own story. Of asking yourself “What is there for me to learn in this event? What is this person trying to teach me? Before, I was in charge of what part of my story was being put out to the world...When I decided to reveal my pursuit of my life purpose, I made the conscious choice of being an open book. I would be transparent and share everything about who I was and how I came to be with you today. While creating the Going Beyond The Food Project, I decided to let go of the control and asked my friend Sean Croxton to help me bring out my story like never before. I gave him "carte blanche" with the purpose of pulling out of me what could help more women... the emotions, the feelings and the parts I had kept secret until now. That what's you'll hear today…The Stephanie Dodier story: my never-before-shared personal journey. If you're someone who's been troubled for so long by your relationship to food, weight and overall health issues and are in search of a solution to better your life, THIS IS FOR YOU. You can still join us at the Going Beyond The Food Project until November 7, 2017 for FREE. After the online conference, you can still access and own all these very informative, insightful and mind-blowing materials, plus speaker bonuses via the Upgraded Package. The Stephanie Dodier Story: The Beginning It all started at 11. My childhood was not your typical carefree kid story. I remember hiding baking and eating cookies from my mother. I was brought to Weight Watchers, in the company of grown women whose objective is mainly to lose weight. I was like… “What the heck am I doing here?” I didn't understand what's going on and why my mother kept on sending me there on a weekly basis. Ever experienced being bullied? Oh, I know so well how it feels! Raised in a family of “pleasers” where you're expected to be “normal”, being different is a big no-no. My parents were so concerned about how people perceive us that we, their kids, were expected to perform well in anything we do. It's like you're pushed to be the best you can be to the point where things felt like a chore already. It was a challenge for me to live up to their expectations. I came to believe that I was not good enough. That's when I turned to food to hide my emotions. Caught Up In the Cycle At 14, my aunts took me to a low-fat diet. I lost 50 lbs in 6 months. And boy, how I felt good about myself! For the first time, I felt like people love me and I belong. I didn't need food to hide the shame that I feel. I looked good and started to have friends and have a normal teenage life. This continued until 26, the age when I experienced what I consider the lowest point in my life - something that affirmed I'm not good enough no matter how hard I tried. I started to overeat again and I developed work addiction to ward off my negative thoughts. It's like eating is the only way to numb the pain of rejection. I put all my energy into my job reaching almost the top of the corporate ladder. But somehow somewhere, everybody really has a breaking point - my health and my body collapsed. The Search It felt like I already did almost everything - read and got hooked up with the Paleo Solution and How to Eat, Move and Be Healthy, over-exercised, did corrective therapy in between losing and gaining weight. I got a hold of Anatomy of the Spirit by Caroline Myss, a book about spirituality, relationship with family and food. I took 6 months off and traveled to see something new and clear my mind. I went to school at the Institute of Holistic Education in Toronto and started to get some followers with my online works. I did Ketogenic diet thinking it might be “the solution” for me. The Solution By the end of our interview, Sean asked me what solution I found with everything I went through. The answer?… is to GO BEYOND THE FOOD. The solution is to deep-dive into emotional eating and discover your intention for eating. You should manage your emotion and train your mind, become conscious on your intention on food. Look on the emotion and understand why you are having that. When you discover the emotion, ask why you feel this emotion, learn how to cope with it other than food. With this, you will stop overeating and will have less bad emotions as well. The Going Beyond the Food Project It was a huge decision for me to share the real story behind my journey because they are deeply personal. But I took this high-risk road because I know I am not the only one. For a long time in my life, I felt alone thinking no one understands and ‘gets it'. But my changed perspective on my personal journey, even how negative it may seem to many, has moved me to become empowered and cast off the victim mentality. It has helped me shift my life from a negative place to a positive place. I am inviting you to consider that for yourself because that is the most profound transformation you can do to heal your health, realize your goals and live the life you dreamed of.
