This episode reflects the launch of a new collaborative project initiative, now into it's second year, with The New Crafthouse and final year Womenswear Students in the School of Design and Technology at London College of Fashion. We talk to Rosie Scott, the Director of the New Craft House, Xandra Drepaul, final year Senior Lecturer on BA Womenswear, and final year students Poppy White and Celine Asmar at the beginning of the project. We then return to summarise at the end of the project looking the inventing new craft processes the students developed from shredding to creating new fabrics from reusing fabric selvedge's. This podcast also contextualises and examines sustainable fabric sourcing, from deadstock to new platforms for textile reuse. Post Covid, the growth of kilo sales and sourcing deadstock fabric has gained momentum across all courses here at LCF, and the impact and awareness of waste, circularity and sustainability in fabric sourcing has taken students from the fabric shops of Soho, to looking for creativity in deadstock and end of line fabric to reimagine their fashion visions in cloth. At Colour Collective Podcast we are interested to find out how this works in practice, to help students navigate this new landscape of saved from landfill textiles and discuss how we design now. As a student, the process of concept to colour to cloth in the creative process, now involves us as designers to look and reinvent a new life for leftover fabrics and find new processes to innovate construction, tactility and colour. Tutors and Students are embarking on new ways of working, a collaborative approach with resellers of designer fabrics, such as New Craft House x LCF project with final year students to inspire future designers to match their design ethos and values to sourcing and sustainability. As a lecturer over the years, I have witnessed many changes in the cycle of design process, but the sourcing of fabric for fashion designers has now entered another era. I want to find out how the growing concern for our planet, has brought us to rethink how we design, source and reuse fabric, and how this has shifted our creative thinking. Dans cet épisode, je reçois Angélique Angarni Filopon, Miss France 2025. Angélique vit une enfance heureuse en région parisienne et cultive un sens de la famille très fort. Sa mère est aide soignante et son père policier. Après un bac littéraire, Angélique rêve de poursuivre une carrière d'hôtesse de l'air. Elle sera recrutée pour son alternance chez Air France. En 2010, elle s'inscrit au casting de Miss Martinique une première fois, et est élue première dauphine.  Elle met finalement ce rêve de côté et poursuit sa carrière dans les airs et rejoindra une compagnie aérienne qui lui propose d'aller vivre en Martinique. Treize ans plus tard, elle se présente à nouveau au concours alors que la productrice Alexia La Roche Joubert fait sauter la limite d'âge du concours, et elle sera élue Miss Martinique 2024 puis Miss France 2025 en décembre 2024. Angélique nous raconte sa manière d'incarner ce titre de reine de beauté pour les Français, sa vision du concours, la puissance de l'intuition, l'importance de rêver grand et les coulisses d'une année si particulière dans la vie de celle à qui on avait que ce serait trop tard. Angélique est la première Miss France Martiniquaise mais aussi celle qui bouscule les codes en ayant été élue à 35 ans et en ayant à coeur de rester pleinement elle même pour correspondre avant toute chose à ses valeurs personnelles. Dans cet épisode, je reçois Emilie Duchene Emilie grandit en Belgique et se souvient avoir été une enfant extrêmement timide. Ses parents se séparent lorsqu'elle a 7 ans. Son papa travaille dans l'univers de la mode ce qui nourrit sa créativité et sa curiosité. Après avoir fait une école de stylisme à Bruxelles, Emilie part à Paris pour intégrer l'IFM (Institut Français de la Mode). Elle fera son premier stage chez Isabel Marant aux débuts de la marque, puis poursuivra son parcours dans de belles maisons comme LVMH et Lacroix. Après un passage dans les médias notamment chez Elle puis Glamour magazine, Emilie rentre à Bruxelles et décide d'intégrer l'entreprise familiale aux côtés de son père ou elle restera 10 ans durant. En parallèle, 1 an après la naissance de sa première fille Thea, Emilie crée sa marque de bijoux en 2011, Thea Jewelry.  Emilie nous raconte cette aventure incroyable qui durera plus de 12 ans, le tout au milieu de 3 maternités, de la structuration de sa marque, à la revente il y a un an, en passant par le déploiement de son entreprise, les décisions difficiles, les écueils et aussi bien sur les succès. Bref, en un mot, ou plutôt deux, les fameux  "roller coasters" (montagnes russes) de l'entrepreneuriat. Emilie se consacre désormais au conseil et à son projet lancé avec son acolyte Clio Goldbrenner "Let's share our roller coaster" qui vise à élever et accompagner les femmes CEO dans leur développement au travers la force du réseau. Aurélie Valognes c'est 10 ans de romans et  5 millions de lecteurs.  Dans cet épisode, je reçois Aurélie Valognes. Aurélie passe son enfance dans un HLM du 91 et grandit dans un environnement modeste avec une maman employée de mairie et un papa peintre automobile.   Très tôt, Aurélie se prend de passion pour l'école et les livres. Après le bac, elle s'oriente d'abord vers une prepa puis tente l'examen du CELSA qu'elle échoue avant de changer son fusil d'épaule et d'intégrer une école de commerce à Reims en tant que boursière. Arrivée dans la vie active, Aurélie intègre le géant Procter & Gamble ou elle restera 6 ans. Alors qu'elle vient d'avoir son premier fils à 29 ans, elle suit son mari muté à Milan et ressent alors un sentiment de renoncement à ses rêves. Sentiment qu'elle ne laissera pourtant pas s'installer poussée quelques mois auparavant par la tristesse de voir une cousine de son âge atteinte d'un cancer agressif...Aurélie fait alors un cauchemar récurrent qui se révèlera être une forme de prophétie lui montrant la voie vers le métier d'écrivain. Fraichement débarquée en Italie, Aurélie qui ne s'était jamais vraiment autorisée à écrire avant griffonne un carnet et se met à écrire son premier roman. Sans grande conviction et alors qu'elle s'apprête à commencer un nouveau job dans une multinationale, elle auto édite son livre le 13 Juillet 2014 sur Amazon. Succès immédiat. Elle se retrouve en quelques semaines propulsée dans le top des ventes avec ce premier livre: "Mémé dans les orties". Lors de sa parution en poche la maison d'édition se retrouve obligée de réimprimer 37 fois, du jamais vu !  Depuis, Aurélie a une écriture prolifique avec près d'un livre par an, en parallèle de l'arrivée de son deuxième enfant, avec à chaque fois des romans se classant dans les best sellers. Si Aurélie vit aujourd'hui de sa passion et de ses rêves depuis la Bretagne ou elle vit désormais, elle nous partage son chemin qui n'a pas été dénué d'obstacles et de remises en question: babyblues, burn out, syndrôme de l'impostrice ont également été des compagnons de route. Dans cet épisode, je reçois Caroline Vignaux. Caroline passe les toutes premières années de sa vie au Maroc avant de retourner en France, dans les Vosges puis en Seine et Marne. D'une enfance qu'elle a ressentie comme très sévère Caroline garde un sentiment d'injustice et de ne jamais être à sa place ou d'être toujours "trop". Après ses études de droit elle devient avocate jusqu'au jour ou elle accompagne son grand père aux portes de la vie et réalise alors qu'il lui manque quelque chose pour une existence pleine et entière Elle joue alors sa carrière à pile ou face  (littéralement !) et décide de quitter ce job comfortable, qu'elle aime et bien payé pour aller vers ce qui la fait vibrer: monter sur scène et faire rire les gens. Caroline nous raconte la suite du chemin non linéaire suite à cette décision vertigineuse, comment le bouche à oreille lui permet de se faire connaitre à une époque ou les réseaux sociaux n'était pas encore aussi implantés qu'aujourd'hui, l'embauche de sa première salariée, la création de sa boite de production et la structuration de son business puisqu'elle cumule aujourd'hui la double casquette d'artiste et de cheffe de sa propre entreprise. Mais si Caroline fait de l'humour elle n'en est pas moins une femme engagée: Dans ses specacles elle parle des agressions sexuelles et du viol qu'elle a vécu et longtemps tu.  Elle nous explique comment la Vague Me Too lui a permis de se libérer et de ressentir le besoin impérieux de dire à son tour : "moi aussi".   Caroline nous partage également les moments majeurs qui ont jalonné son existence: la naissance de ses enfants et la découverte de la maternité qui fut pour elle une révélation mais aussi la mort brutale de son papa qui fut la plus grande déflagration de sa vie.   Un témoignage intime, authentique, inspirant d'une femme qui montre que tous les chemins de vie sont possibles si on s'en donne les moyens Caroline se produit au grand rex In vigneaux veritas 20, 21 et 22 Belle écoute     NOTES DE L'ÉPISODE: Le podcast vous plaît ? Dans cet épisode, je reçois Tania Partouche. Tania grandit à Toulouse, aînée d'une famille de filles, avec des valeurs clés comme le sens de l'effort et l'ouverture d'esprit inculquées grâce à ses parents commerçants. Après des études à la Sorbonne, Tania devient juriste en droit social et rejoint rapidement l'univers de la lingerie d'abord chez Calzedonia puis chez Etam ou on lui confie un poste de responsable RH avant d'intégrer les rangs d'Aubade en 2019 ou elle évoluera jusqu'à devenir DRH de la marque. Tania nous parle de la manière dont elle a grandit dans l'entreprise, au gré des rencontres, notamment celles de femmes qui ont marqué son parcours. Nous avons également parlé de l'importance pour elle d'encourager, à son tour, ses équipes à grandir chaque jour, d'abord en verbalisant ses aspirations comme elle l'a fait elle même mais aussi en osant aller de l'avant au quotidien. Aubade est une entreprise pensée par des femmes et pour les femmes et qui visent à soutenir celles ci dans toutes les étapes de leur vie. La maternité en fait partie et ce fut le cas pour Tania qui a eu ses deux enfants en parallèle de ses différentes prises de postes, preuve que selon les cultures d'entreprises, la maternité n'est pas toujours un frein dans l'évolution professionnelle. Nous avons également parlé de sa vision du rôle de la DRH, des conseils qu'elle aurait aimé entendre plus tôt et bien sur, de la notion d'ambition. Dans cet épisode, je reçois Christel Heydemann. Christel est l'une des quatre femmes patronnes du CAC40, CEO d'Orange depuis 2022. Dans cette conversation, Christel nous partage le chemin qui l'a menée vers de telles responsabilités. Il s'agit bien entendu d'un chemin de femme, déterminée, puissante et résiliente qui a su dépasser les impossibilités supposées. D'abord en suivant un parcours académique prestigieux en intégrant les rangs de Polytechnique dont le nombre de femmes diplômées chute puisqu'elles ne sont que 16% en 2024 versus 21% en 2023. Ensuite, en osant prendre des responsabilités très tôt en entreprise, en acceptant des challenges professionnels ambitieux et en avançant, malgré les doutes possibles de son entourage sur ses choix et même en faisant taire les siens. Christel a ainsi évolué au sein d'organisations comme Schneider Electric, Alcatel puis Orange dont elle devenue patronne. Inévitablement, nous avons parlé de l'enjeu de l'équilibre entre la vie professionnelle et personnelle qui reste un sujet majeurs lorsque l'on s'implique sur des postes opérationnels, notamment pour les femmes qui deviennent mères et dont le parcours est encore trop souvent ralenti à ce moment crucial de leur vie. Dans cet épisode, je reçois Bertrand Perier.  Dès son adolescence, Bertrand rêve de devenir commentateur sportif, mais son destin le mène à Sciences Po, puis à la faculté de droit. L'ENA devient son objectif, symbole ultime de la réussite. Mais après un échec à l'examen d'entrée, il va redéfinir son avenir. Bertrand trouve alors sa voie en tant que collaborateur auprès d'un avocat au Conseil d'État et à la Cour de cassation. Mais là où certains auraient vu une simple étape professionnelle, lui, timide et réservé, va rencontrer un tournant décisif : un concours d'éloquence. Ce concours marquera une prise de conscience : la prise de parole en public est un véritable levier de pouvoir !  Un pouvoir qu'il choisit d'utiliser pour enseigner la prise de parole à des jeunes de Seine-Saint-Denis, les aidant à dépasser leurs déterminismes sociaux. En participant à "Eloquentia", programme crée par Stéphane de Freitas, Bertrand contribue à rendre la parole accessible à tous et à toutes. À travers le documentaire "À voix haute" paru au cinéma, il révèle l'importance de l'éloquence comme outil de transformation au service de la méritocratie.  Un épisode ou Bertrand Perier nous rappelle l'importance du débat et pourquoi le désaccord n'est pas une agression mais au contraire la possibilité de reconnaître l'autre dans son égalité et dans sa différence.
