(Fremont County)- Central Wyoming College Theatre is preparing to raise the curtain on its 2026–27 season, bringing four productions to the Robert A. Peck Arts Center in Riverton. In this episode, we look ahead at the upcoming season with new CWC Theatre instructor and director Annette Benn Thornton, who brings decades of experience in theatre education, directing and community arts. Jennifer Marshall-Weydeveld also joins to talk theater and the scope of Central Wyoming College. The season opens Oct. 22 with “Godspell,” followed by the holiday production “The Gift of the Magi” in December, Neil Simon's “Brighton Beach Memoirs” in March and the Broadway favorite “Matilda The Musical” to close the season in April and May. Annette also shares how CWC Theatre hopes to involve more of the community. Whether that means performing on stage, helping behind the scenes or simply coming out to enjoy a show. (Fremont County, WY) – County 10 contributor and longtime Fremont County writer Randy Tucker dropped into the KOVE 1330AM Radio studio Monday. In November 2025, we caught up with Randy to discuss two books that both detailed Wyoming’s rich history. Fast forward less than a year, Randy has not one… not two… but THREE new books for local history lovers. (Pavillion, WY) – Wind River High School football has not finished where they’ve wanted to the last couple years, going 3-14 combined in 2024 and 2025. Cougar supporters are hoping the squad can return to the success of the 2022 (7-3) season and the 2023 (8-2) state runner-up year as soon as possible. New WRHS Head Coach Troy Anderson is hoping to lead that charge. Anderson takes over the program after Rod Fredrick stepped down. Fredrick had been in charge the last four seasons, taking the Cougs to the playoffs three times. (Riverton, WY) – Own your mistakes. Take accountability for yourself. When you have success, share it with others. And fly fish as much as you can. Those were the common themes delivered by former National Football League quarterback Kyle Orton Monday night as he spoke with the Riverton High School football team at the RHS Auditorium. Orton is no stranger to Fremont County. The Iowa-native told County 10 if he could fly fish anywhere in the world, he’d be right here. Kyle has been hitting the water here for the last few days. The exact location he chose not to disclose… we mentioned he’s a true fisherman after all. He accepted an invitation to meet and speak with the RHS student-athletes after a day tracking trout. During a 30 minute pre-practice session he took time to answer questions and sign several autographs. His football journey began in Iowa, which led to Indiana for college, becoming a Purdue Boilermaker. Purdue’s Head Coach at the time was a legend in the Cowboy State, Joe Tiller. After four years under Tiller, Kyle was drafted by the Chicago Bears in 2005. Eventually, he’d play three seasons with the Denver Broncos, a year with the Kansas City Chiefs, two with the Dallas Cowboys and finished his career in 2014 a Buffalo Bill. Since retiring, he’s remained active in football as a high school coach for his Iowa alma mater. His favorite leader to play with was Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher. His favorite piece of advice is to find other people that work hard at the same things you do and push each other. Perhaps most interestingly though, he was presented with the question, “if you could go back in time and play one more game at any level, where would you go?” Orton thought for a second, skipped being an NFL celebrity or a college football success and said, “honestly I’d go back to high school and play with my friends.” Doubling down with, “there’s just something special about playing with your buddies.” Kyle summed up the session by telling the Wolverines to take practice one day at a time, “try to win each day. Practice hard. (Lander, WY) – Lander Valley High School announced this summer that John Rounds would once again take the reins of the Tigers' varsity football program. The longtime Lander educator previously served as head coach from 2014-2017. John Scott took over from 2018-2022, followed by Jim Burton for the past three seasons. Throughout that time, Rounds remained involved with the program as an assistant coach, continuing to help develop Lander's student-athletes. When Burton announced this summer that he was leaving for a teaching position in Pinedale, promoting Rounds from within was an easy decision—especially following the Tigers' success in 2025, when they reached the 3A semifinals. We recently chatted with Rounds about returning to the head coaching position, how summer workouts have gone and his expectations for the 2026 season. (Lander, WY) – The KOVE 1330 AM / 107.7 FM Today in the 10 interview series Coffee Time continued today with host Vince Tropea, who recently spoke with Brynn Robeson with Lander Rural Fire of the Fremont County Fire Protection District. Robeson was one of the many firefighters who responded to the Weiser Knoll Fire last weekend and the fire in Fort Washakie earlier this week, and shares firsthand accounts of what it was like responding to them. Robeson also shares details on safety concerns that came up during those fires, how the public can best help responders during large-scale fires (Don't fly drones and steer clear of responder vehicles and the active fire zones!), and reminds folks not to spread misinformation on social media about active fires or details that have yet to be confirmed by the proper channels. Robeson also gives a big shoutout to all of the community members and responder agencies that came together this past week. (Riverton, WY) – Chris Linton grew up playing golf at the Riverton Country Club. After graduating from RHS, Chris left Wyoming seeking warmer weather. Partially for his own comfort, but mainly to enjoy golf year-round. His journey through school and career eventually took him to Utah, Nevada, Arizona and Oklahoma. A few months ago Linton was approached with an offer he’d heard before, managing the Riverton Country Club. At 33-years-old, the timing was right for him to return to the Rendezvous City. We caught up with Chris to chat about his homecoming, several golf events that he helped host in his first summer on the job and lots of opportunities for golfers to get involved with in Fremont County! (Lander, WY) – The Wyo-131 Gravel Cycling Race returns to Fremont County Saturday, September 12th. The event headliner is a grueling 131 mile race that puts competitors on a journey through diverse Wyoming landscape. Cyclists can also compete in races that are 75 miles long, 45 miles or a 13 mile jaunt. The race is expected to attract 300-400 members of the bicycling community from around North America to Lander. This year, the event coincides with “Biketoberfest,” a free celebration of all things cycling, beer and community at Lander City Park! (Lander, WY) – The Tinderwoods have been on quite a journey over the past few months. Lander’s Adam Kirkpatrick, Micah Wyatt, Brady Frude and Vince Tropea have logged plenty of miles, playing gigs across the state. They’ve entertained hundreds of fans at packed venues and just a handful of onlookers in some of the state’s smallest towns. Along the way, they’ve admittedly consumed more hot dogs than any group of grown men probably should. Most unexpectedly, they’ve gone viral by blending a beloved country sing-along with an early hip-hop anthem. The band was just selected as Fremont County’s only representatives to play the Wyoming State Parks and Cultural Resources ‘Tunes On The Trail,’ event this year. What’s more, they are one of just four Wyoming bands playing the 2026 series. You can catch their show Saturday, August 15th at the South Pass State Historical Site, where visitors will have the chance to enjoy a hike and soak in a 90-minute concert, surrounded by nature. Robeson discusses a number of topics, including the ongoing need for volunteer firefighters. Robeson, who has served with Lander Rural Fire for more than six years, says more than 80% of fire departments nationwide are staffed by volunteers, including nearly 89% in Wyoming, and that volunteer firefighter numbers have dropped by 23% over the past 15 years while fire department calls have more than doubled since 2000. (For those interested in becoming a volunteer firefighter, Robeson encouraged residents to contact their local department. The Roast takes place this Saturday, July 25, in Lander City Park. The Lander Police Department’s bike rodeo will go from 10 AM to 12 PM at Drill Field, the official opening ceremonies will start at 11 AM (including the Quilts of Valor presentation), and food will be served at noon. The Cornhole tournament will also be in full swing, along with a number of kids’ games and activities. As always, the theme of the Roast is mental health, and there will be a number of informational booths for folks to peruse. (Fremont County, WY)- The County 10 podcast is on the scene visiting Central Wyoming College to learn how CWC is helping new and returning students take the next step toward college. Rachel Hofer, Director of Admissions, and Kylan Shultz, enrollment advisor and success coach, share details about CWC's summer access events. After Hours is held one Monday each month, with the final event scheduled for August 17 from 5–7 p.m. Saturday Success events will take place July 25 and August 15 from 11 a.m.–2 p.m. During these drop-in events, students can visit Rustler Central for help with admissions, financial aid, registration and other questions. Rustler Central serves as the primary starting point for new students, with additional resources available at cwc.edu/rustler-central. Kylan also explains how success coaching is tailored to meet the needs of both traditional students and adults returning to school. The conversation highlights the Restart Award, which may cover tuition and fees for eligible adult learners age 24 or older who are beginning college or returning after at least two years away. The award can be used for courses ranging from one to three credits. Fall classes begin August 24. Students can get started by completing CWC's free online application.

(Riverton, WY) – Riverton High School’s Tessa Kenyon joined the County 10 Podcast after returning from Washington D.C. where she attended the FCCLA National Convention. FCCLA or Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, turned into a passion for Tessa in 8th grade. Kenyon told us that it was instructor Kelli Gard who first inspired her to join the club. What started as a simple suggestion turned into a multi-year effort that culminated with the organization’s most prestigious honor in the nation’s capital. Kenyon was chosen as an FCCLA National Officer. Specifically, she’s National Vice President of Programs. To put the honor into a little perspective, there’s over 270,000 members in the country. Tessa was the only selection from the state. Wyoming’s last representative for a national officer position was when Wright’s Shelby Smith achieved it in 2021. Tessa and her team pose in front of the United States Capitol Kenyon knew that she was a candidate, but most don’t receive the high ranking designation. After the candidates received a letter revealing their fate, Tessa waited to open hers until she was in her hotel room surrounded by her mom, her sister and her advisor. “I literally got to ‘Dear Tessa Kenyon. Congratulations, you’ve been’ — and I couldn’t stop crying. I cried all my makeup off that I had put on that morning.” Tessa Kenyon holds her congratulatory letter. She’ll now work to represent those 270,000+ members. Next month she flies back across the country to Virginia for an FCCLA planning meeting. She’ll go to Disney’s Imagination Campus, help plan the 2027 National Convention and much more along the way. (Lander, WY) – Lander Valley High School’s Adelyn Anderson has already accomplished more than most athletes will in a lifetime. To name a few of those achievements, she’s a two-time Gatorade Girls Track and Field Athlete of the Year winner. A three-time state champion. She owns both school records for discuss and shot put. She has the longest shot put throw, of any female, in state history. She has multiple individual indoor track championships. Oh, and by the way, she graduated from high school with honors this spring. A GPA most of us didn’t think was possible to attain, a 4.39. The all-around Lander Valley star is on to Wisconsin this fall. She’ll throw and study mechanical engineering at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. (Riverton, WY) – After a wild and successful conclusion to the Babe Ruth Baseball State Tournament in Gillette, the Riverton 14U squad earned the opportunity to continue their summertime fun. Riverton finsihed their state run against the same Cheyenne team that had defeated them in last year’s championship game and had gotten the better of them earlier in 2026 pool-play. After playing five games in three days, neither team had many pitching options remaining. The scoreboard in the title game made that no secret. Riverton 25 Cheyenne 23. A championship and some revenge for the kids from the Rendezvous City. Head Coach Casey Parker and his athletes now prepare to head to Meridian, Idaho July 19-22 for the Pacific Northwest Regional Tournament. They’ll play against champs from Montana, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, British Columbia and Alberta, Canada. County 10 extended an invitation for the entire team to come join us for some interview fun. (Wyoming) – Stephen Tucker loves telling stories about Wyoming’s rich history. The Sheridan-based filmmaker has done everything from full blown documentaries, to capturing local weddings and shooting promotional videos for companies that hire his expertise. One of those promotional shoots was for the Johnson County Tourism Association. Tucker’s Big Horn Films was tasked with short videos highlighting the wild west history of the Kaycee, Wyoming area. After going on a tour of the historic “Hole in the Wall” with historian Clay Gibbons of Worland, Tucker said he knew this project was going to turn into more. “We started down this road, the more we learned, the more we were like this is just incredible history,” Tucker told us. “We interviewed many different people who have incredible history connected to these outlaws. Hearing some of theses stories, it was like, I want to learn more.” Stephen said with all of the content they gathered, there was no possible way to boil it down to just a five minute highlight piece and respectfully tell the full story. He told the tourism group he’d still put those short videos together, but also wanted to devote his own personal time into producing a full feature film. Today the Hole In The Wall area, southwest of Kaycee, is best known for its outlaw lore. Where notorious criminals like Butch Cassidy and the Wild Bunch would disappear into a red rock natural fortress. (Fremont County, WY)- In this County 10 Podcast episode you hear from with Tim Nichols of WRTA about the agency's Fare Free Summer and what it means for riders across Fremont County. The program began June 1 and, thanks to corporate sponsorships and private donations, will continue through the end of August. Nichols explains how WRTA serves the county through a fixed-route 96-mile loop running seven times daily, along with on-demand microtransit in Riverton. Riders can access WRTA by calling 856-WRTA or finding more information at gowrta.com. The conversation also covers rising transportation costs, increased ridership during the fare-free period, and how even a small fare can be a barrier for people on fixed incomes. Nichols also addresses recent state and federal funding reductions connected to expired post-pandemic relief funds, as well as an upcoming three-quarter percent sales tax ballot measure that would support local ground transportation, air services, and ambulance services. Nichols shares that WRTA is a government-operated public transit authority under the Fremont County Association of Government and encourages the public to ask questions, request transparency, and learn more about how the system serves Fremont County.

(Lander, WY) – The KOVE 1330 AM / 107.7 FM Today in the 10 interview series Coffee Time continued today with host Vince Tropea, who recently spoke with Hudson Mayor Sherry Oler, who stopped by to chat about the water and sewer utility rate increases that go into effect for the town starting today, July 1. The water and sewer rates will go up $5 each a month, $10 total, for Hudson residents. Mayor Oler said the town has struggled for years with complaints about the taste and quality of its drinking water, despite the water meeting safety standards. After taking office, Mayor Oler requested a Level 1 water study through the Wyoming Water Development Commission, which was completed in 2025. The study identified why Hudson’s water treatment system is expensive to operate and recommended several potential long-term solutions, including exploring a new water source and the possibility of regionalizing water service. A Level 2 study is now underway to look at those options and provide residents with information before any long-term decisions are made. At the same time, the town has faced serious wastewater infrastructure concerns, Mayor Oler explained, adding that Hudson narrowly avoided major failures at its sewer lift station in both 2023 and 2024, including one incident in which a pump nearly failed completely and forced the town to notify the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality. The town has since secured a free pre-engineering report, presented during a public meeting in April, which estimates that approximately $5.8 million in wastewater system improvements are needed. With only about 277 utility customers, the cost of those projects presents a significant financial challenge, Mayor Oler said, adding that under Wyoming statute, municipal water and wastewater utilities must be self-supporting, meaning user rates must cover operating costs, maintenance, employee salaries, and future repairs in a reserve fund. Mayor Oler said demonstrating that Hudson is making progress toward financial sustainability is also critical to receiving state loans and grants, some of which are scored partly on a community’s willingness to invest in its own infrastructure. To help meet those requirements, the Hudson Town Council approved the rate increase, and the council also approved annual increases at the same level over the next four years, a strategy Mayor Oler said is intended to gradually build the utility funds rather than implementing the much steeper increases recommended by two independent rate studies. (Riverton, WY) – For Riverton’s young soccer community it was a full, action-packed week of new skills, competing in games, learning about different places all across the globe and having a ton of fun along the way. Photo: Rachel Mejorado The annual Challenger Sports Soccer Camp returned to Rein Park June 8-12. This year, Fremont County aspiring athletes had the chance to learn from Coaches Tom Monks of Wales and Steven Gray of Scotland. The duo taught ball handling, shooting and passing technique. A “World Cup-style” tournament was held (Congratulations Team Portugal!,) athletes competed individually each day to be camp MVP. What’s more, local youth had the chance to hear about other places all around the globe. They constructed flags from different countries, made their own World Cup trophies, decorated their own personal soccer balls and capped the full week off with a massive water fight!
