Washkoviak stopped by to talk about the WOC's River Bash event taking place this Friday, June 5, from 5 to 10 PM in Lander City Park. The LOR Foundation is in the last quarter of grant-making here in Lander before it heads to Buffalo, and Vincent wanted to express her gratitude to the Lander community for all of the projects they brought to LOR for funding. Vincent said that the LOR Foundation has funded about 500 projects during its six years in Lander, with about $3.5M in funds raised total. Vincent added that the last day for grant-making/check-giving is June 30 (with project pitches due by June 15), and to celebrate LOR’s time here in Lander, it will host a community celebration on May 9 at 5:30 PM at the community center. McCart is the Native American Liaison for FCSD #1 Lander Schools, and she once again set up writing classes at Lander schools, taught by Black, an LVHS graduate and member of the Northern Arapaho Tribe. Black is currently a professor teaching writing classes at the University of Memphis, and when County 10 last caught up with him, he had just been announced as one of the artists chosen for the Denver Art Museum’s 2026 Native Arts Artist-in-Residency Program. (Black shared during the interview that the residency will officially begin August 1, 2026, and will last for two years.) Even though he is staying busy as a professor and professional artist, Black still made time to stop by Lander schools and teach the youth about poetry the week before last.
