This week, we return to Josh's homeland to catch up with Bravo's antipodean series The Real Housewives of Auckland. Rather surprisingly, for a show about New Zealanders that only aired for one season, it might just be the cattiest Housewives series that's been produced. Specifically, we're focusing on episode nine of season 1, 'Launch Off', which sees Angela and Gilda launch two very different books with two very different parties. And because we're heading back to Josh's hometown, we're pairing it with a Kiwi comfort meal of curried sausages with reduced cream mashed potato. Featuring all the housewives of Auckland, including Anne Batley Burton, Angela Stone, Gilda Kirkpatrick, Julia Sloane, Louise Wallace and Michelle Blanchard. See the full recipe for curried sausages and reduced cream mashed potatoes here.
Louise Wallace is a Dunedin based poet, mama to a 20 month old and editor of Starling Magazine.

We made it. The season finale of THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF AUCKLAND is here and Nic McLachlan & Steve Molk simultaneously amazed and devastated... AND FEEL TOTALLY RIPPED OFF that there's no reunion. What we do get to experience is one of the most confusing, blood-curdling and frustrating arguments in franchise history. Be ready to set the cat among the pigeons with absolutely no intention of causing a problem(!). Also: WHY IS THERE NO REUNION EPISODE?! WHAT EVEN IS THIS?! MolksTVTalk the podcast has (again) been hijacked for this season of RHOAKL as Nic & I record a reaction pod for every ep, available just after the episode has aired, though since this is the final one it's a sad time for some and sweet relief for others. This is an extra special penultimate episode of THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF AUCKLAND. Just be cool and let Nic McLachlan & Steve Molk guide you through it because there's just so much to deal with. But first - where's Angela? Look, this is what we live for. One launch is usually amazing for any part of the Real Housewives franchise but TWO LAUNCHES?! It's everything we've wanted all season. There's lots to prepare for when there's two launches, not least of which is proving Lea the intern is still alive. Obviously there's still time for Michelle and Anne to attend a hip hop class before Angela's launch (Where's Angela?). We also get to attend Gilda's launch and the comparisons begin - in fact there's so much that takes place at both book launches that's all we have time for... but it's STILL SO MUCH! MolksTVTalk the podcast has (again) been hijacked for this season of RHOAKL as Nic & I record a reaction pod for every ep, available just after the episode has aired. P.S. Where's Angela? Start your engines and prepare to be dazzled by the true competitive nature of THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF AUCKLAND. Nic McLachlan & Steve Molk pull up their comfy chairs and get to wondering if we've met the real Angela in this episode. After all we did see her daughter deliver her some home truths about her self-obsession at least. There's book proofs & boobs to see, bad blind dates to witness (SO AWKWARD IT HURTS), Anne staring at Ben's genitals, and the big race day organised by Gilda - but nothing compares to the class 1 douchiness of Kirk. What a jerk. MolksTVTalk the podcast has (again) been hijacked for this season of RHOAKL as Nic & I record a reaction pod for every ep, available just after the episode has aired. P.S. It's a bitsa ep this week on THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF AUCKLAND and the thing you can trust is that Nic McLachlan & Steve Molk are here to guide you through it and help make it bearable. At least until Angela gets the girls out. Poor Doggy-style Dan is subjected to Michelle's lusting; Louise is subjected to Angela as they have tea together while Lou sweats out the outcome of her rehearsal; Anne is subjected to Anne and Julia as they go feed the Parnell Pussies (ooh-er!); then someone gives the ladies GUNS, which naturally Gilda is awesome at and the most competitive ones get all jealous. ALL THIS before we meet Gilda's someone-elses-money-spending friend Mark and Angela gets real while shooting pictures for the cover of her book. So real. Importantly, if you can recover from the bathtub shots, this sets up a lot of stuff for next week AND for the two book launches we have coming in episode 9. There's lots coming down the pipe, you guys. MolksTVTalk the podcast has (again) been hijacked for this season of RHOAKL as Nic & I record a reaction pod for every ep, available just after the episode has aired. P.S. We're still in Port Douglas on this week's THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF AUCKLAND but all of that is put aside as Nic McLachlan & Steve Molk set you straight on one of the biggest controversies to ever hit the franchise. This is super serious, you guys. Luckily it's all pretty much mostly able to be sorted out but not before some damage was done and (luckily) Gilda and Michelle had to miss Angela's forced trek to undertake the "laughing yoga and general bullying" session. Also Angela should never be allowed near fake tan ever again. PROOF OF LIFE: Lea is still alive, though barely as Angela was last seen dosing her with who-knows-what sort of drugs. It's gonna be hard to work out how they top this, but with four episodes still to go there's some serious crystal balling from Nic & Molk. MolksTVTalk the podcast has (again) been hijacked for this season of RHOAKL as Nic & I record a reaction pod for every ep, available just after the episode has aired. P.S. I didn't say I forgave you. You know what THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF AUCKLAND need after a solid four episodes? A holiday in Port Douglas. Join them, Nic McLachlan & Steve Molk as we wind you through this week's episode for make benefit glorious nation of North Queensland. There's certainly a lot of business to take care of before we get to the mainland too. There's packing, bitching, a high tea, a spray tan, a fashion parade and some more bitching. Once we get to the resort the problems only ramp up trying to work out WHO IS STAYING IN WHICH ROOM! And Poor Lea gets dragged along to be Angela's slave. A failed drinking game leads into a big surprise, only to be gazzumped with another surprise from someone else. It's moments like these you need an assassin on speed dial. (Also: where was Lea?!) MolksTVTalk the podcast has (again) been hijacked for this season of RHOAKL as Nic & I record a reaction pod for every ep, available just after the episode has aired. P.S. It's not fair. It was the perfect example of too much information, and this week's episode of THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF AUCKLAND delivers far too much for Nic McLachlan & Steve Molk to talk about. Our theory that Lea needs to be removed for her safety only gains momentum as Anne attempts to steal her away and Angela massively over-reacts to her car being in a little prang. There's also blood on the drama floor at Louise's workshop, and Angela's attempts to bury the hatchet with Gilda end up with said hatchet in Angela's over-smiling face. Later on there's the party at Julia's, which somehow very quickly became the gateway moment to turning it into an Eyes Wide Shut sex party. Cock rings and vibrators for everyone. Anne was not amused. Michelle was horrified but thought it all hilarious. Warm your pussies, fill your glass with some moist, sparkling liquid and settle back and enjoy this great new episode of THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF AUCKLAND with Nic McLachlan & Steve Molk. If it's not Julia off to see a woman about a vampire, or Michelle feeding Anne's pussies, it's the annual Pussy Galore fundraiser party that sees Gilda take Louise to task and Angela v everyone continue. Also: SURPRISE! We meet Angela's French "P.A." Lea who it appears she has a crush on and is in a position where we might need to call in the Department of Families to remove Lea from a dangeros situation. Hello friends. Nic McLachlan & Steve Molk are back to guide you through the jungle that is THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF AUCKLAND. If you thought we had a mark on the housewives from E01, you're dead wrong. I mean, the episodes starts with Molk apologising for goodness sake. There's so much to see and do this episode from: visiting Karen the Healing Practitioner (not a thing); to Michelle taking her daughter to fashion week; to Julia being horny; to Anne the Sparkling Wine Lady(tm) getting a consult; to Louise trying to beat the aging racket; to Gilda and Angela LOCKING HORNS AND TWO WOMEN ENTER ONE WOMAN LEAVES Mad Max 3-style.
