Ray & Chris dive right into the nagging topics of lawnmower repair and maintenance then ask a prolific question; "Is the MotorMouth Radio jinx contagious?" That leads to talk of bringing car parts into the house and cleaning them in a kitchen dishwasher, and a list of automotive fluids that have stained our family lawns when we were growing up. You don't get stuff like this on NPR my friend, not by a long shot!
Back with a vengeance to kick off our 20th year of broadcasting, the boys start the show by talking about stopping, more specifically how to adjust a car's brake pushrod. The show quickly transitions into the finer points of model car building and some of the crazier Craigslist ads the guys & a caller have seen. One of the shows regular callers promises to send a picture of how he "measured the sunshine" down in Florida.
January marks the 20 year anniversary of MotorMouth Radio and Ray & Chris decided there was no better way to commemorate it than to compile show bits featuring many of the colorful listeners, callers & guests from the span of the show, as well as ALL of the co-hosts who've worked on it (six in total). Sit back and enjoy this mash-up of topics and personalities that have made us what we are, some aren't with us anymore and some are still going strong. Who knows, you may find yourself featured in this fitting tribute to a fine show.
The boys talk about subjects relating to the cloning of modern car transponder keys used to steal cars, hydro dipping of custom car parts, and the process of plating plastic parts with a chromium finish. LED lighting somehow leads to bumper re-chroming and derelict snowblower restoration, topics you'll only find on a show like MotorMouth Radio!
The boys start off by covering the passing of Monte Hellman, who was involved in the making of Ray's favorite car movie, "Two Lane Blacktop", then the talk turns to repair and restoration topics. Chris ponders how to best mount rocker panel molding on his big Chrysler and gets plenty of caller suggestions. Ray talks about the 64 Caddy project and the need to decipher the brake problems the project Mustang is encountering. Just another week on MotorMouth Radio!
It's vintage week on MotorMouth Radio when the boys cover using 39 year old tires on a project car, lament the cancellation of the Edsel 61 years ago, and compare their mechanical car clocks. Moving forward, using modern rims on old cars, and previous owners who are slobs raises some hackles, only to be topped off with some old motor-home restoration stories from the listeners... a fun show indeed.
The virus scare has us doing a remote broadcast from an undisclosed location this week, and it often takes a team to move the ball. The team of Ray, Chris, Kim & Rob Leonard propel the car talk this time around with the boys covering everything from the history of MotorMouth Radio to using "mechanic in a can", having mis-matched lug nuts & Rob asking the ultimate question of "where in the world did all of the cool junkyards we know go".

With over 28 years of hands on experience, Steve Linden has built a solid reputation as the “go to” source for classic and vintage vehicle services. In the conversations I've already had with Steve, his attention to detail and focus on the customer experience has helped him build his business to where it is today and it's easy to see why he's a huge success. Steve performs vintage and classic car appraisals, pre-purchase inspections, export services if you want your classic ride to be shipped outside the US and this intrigues me as well, Steve provides expert witness services too, we will talk a bit about all of these today. Here's what Steve and I talk about on today's show: Share with our growing community, how you got into the car business? Steve, what's your thought about buying or selling a car through an auction? Many of our fans are doing work on their own and in their garages as we all know accidents can happen. Share what happens when the unfortunate happens and there's a fire. What are your thoughts on restoration versus modification as it pertains to value of a classic ride? Let's talk for a moment about pre-inspection of a car. What do you look for? Is a car less valuable if VIN doesn't match everywhere? What do you like best in the world of early Mustangs? When we spoke prior to the interview you mentioned you have been in your share of classic Mustangs. What are you seeing as some common things to look for when buying one? Tell me about MotorMouth Radio?
