In a post-apocalyptic wasteland, an orphaned teen (Munro Chambers) must battle a ruthless warlord (Michael Ironside) to save the girl (Laurence Leboeuf) of his dreams. This week THE MILKSHAKE BOOM grab our gnome sticks, hop on our BMX bikes and take a ride to the 1980's nostalgia fueled post-apocalyptic gorey wasteland that is 'Turbo Kid'!     Set in an alternate 1997, this 2015 Canadian/New Zealand coproduction was directed by François Simard, Anouk Whissell, and Yoann-Karl Whissell and stars Munro Chambers, Laurence Leboeuf, and Michael Ironside! Before we jump into our audience selection, we briefly discuss 1980's nostalgia films like 'Kung Fury' and then delve deeply into our most ideal apocalypse scenerios to live through!   And, in a TMB first, we are joined by a live studio audience!  Unfortunately, said audience quickly turns on Jose and his bizarrely detailed philosophy on zombies!  

Horror-action hybrid Turbo Kid is a fun new Canadian-New Zealand co-production. Set in the post-apocalyptic future of 1997, Turbo Kid is a loving homage to some of the great genre films of the 80s, and a damn fine film in its own right. Its stars discuss the movie with us on this week's episode of the podcast. Laurence Leboeuf plays Apple and Munro Chambers plays The Kid. The Kid is a comics-obsessed scavenger who becomes a heroic figure when he teams up with Apple to go against the big bad Zeus, played by the incredible Michael Ironside. 80s nostalgia is big now and Turbo Kid is a movie that does it right, paying homage to its influences without talking down to the audience. And there's incredible gore to boot!
