Interview with Rhylin Bailie, VP of Investor Relations, Equinox GoldRecording date: 3rd of March, 2025Equinox Gold and Calibre Mining have announced a transformative merger expected to close by the end of May 2025, creating one of the top 15 gold producers globally. The combined entity will produce approximately 950,000 ounces of gold in 2025, with potential to exceed one million ounces as additional operations come online. The transaction originated from casual discussions between Equinox's chairman Ross Beaty and Calibre's leadership, who recognized the strategic benefits of combining their complementary assets. The merger will create the second-largest gold producer from Canada, with the Greenstone and Valentine mines together delivering 600,000 ounces annually—a significant advantage as Canadian producers typically trade at premium valuations.Structured as a "merger of equals," the deal brings together complementary teams, with Calibre's President and CEO Darren Hall joining Equinox as President and Chief Operating Officer alongside CEO Greg Smith. This dual leadership approach aims to distribute responsibilities effectively across the expanded organization. The transaction delivers immediate production benefits to both companies' shareholders while providing exceptional cash flow generation in the current high gold price environment. Consensus estimates suggest EBITDA could more than quadruple over the next 12 months, accelerating debt reduction plans. The company aims to pay down at least $200 million in 2025 and reach a debt-to-EBITDA ratio of 1x by early 2026, enabling dividend payments and share buybacks.Despite its increased scale, the combined company maintains substantial growth opportunities, including the Castle Mountain expansion in California (+200,000 oz/year) and Los Filos expansion in Mexico (+150,000 oz/year). These projects contribute to an expected 60% production growth over the next few years, distinguishing Equinox from larger producers that struggle to meaningfully increase output.Post-merger integration will include evaluating the combined portfolio of 11 mines, with potential rationalization to focus on larger operations producing 150,000-200,000 ounces annually at competitive costs. Equinox has previously demonstrated willingness to optimize its portfolio, having sold smaller mines and spun out non-core assets. The transaction elevates the company from the crowded mid-tier space to the elite senior producer category, potentially attracting increased investment from generalist investors and index funds that require larger market capitalization. With strong leadership, premium assets, exceptional cash flow, and substantial growth opportunities, the combined Equinox-Calibre entity is well-positioned to create significant long-term shareholder value in the gold mining sector.Learn more: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/companies/equinox-goldSign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com

Ep. 788 - And that's it. The preseason is over. So, who is making the team? What players did enough over three games, including Sunday's 38-12 loss at the Denver Broncos, to make the initial 53-man roster? Undrafted wide receiver Xavier Weaver, third-year outside linebacker Cameron Thomas, and veteran defensive back Darren Hall are among those who have impressed. Craig Grialou and Paul Calvisi discuss those who have strong cases to be on the team. First though, what is the latest with rookie defensive lineman Darius Robinson; how will the offense handle the suspension of wide receiver Zay Jones; and updates on a handful of players who got hurt in the preseason finale.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

With a vacancy at nickel cornerback, the team has three prime candidates to earn the starting gig: Mike Hughes, Clark Phillips, and Dee Alford. Host Aaron Freeman breaks down what each are bringing to the table and who he expects to win the roster battle.Later, he discusses how starting cornerbacks A.J. Terrell delivered with steady play and Isaiah Oliver battled back from injuries to show he remains a reliable and versatile option at nickel. However, Casey Hayward's age and injury may work against him returning even given steady play over a limited sample of games. What better way to wrap up 2022 than to discuss end-of-the-year tax strategies with our own resident tax expert and CPA? We've been working with Darren Hall for 25 years and we are bringing our secret weapon directly to you on this podcast episode. Darren shares several end-of-the-year tax strategies to help you avoid common mistakes, keep better records, and reduce your taxes. We know that properly filing taxes is crucial for child care businesses. It can become more complex as your business grows. Learning about financial terms and taxes can seem complicated but you'll get it over time. That's why we have Darren on our team. He's always willing to answer any questions we may have. If you don't know what you're doing financially it's easy to be taken advantage of. Darren affirms it is paramount to understand some financial terms when you are a business owner. Darren understands that “everybody out there running a business is good at what they do but they're not necessarily good at accounting.” “If you are not engaged in all kinds of really high-level stuff then you don't need that CPA that deals with high-level stuff”. Darren elaborates “you need one that's going to stop and take the time with you and discuss things with you…” When it comes to finding ways to reduce your taxes, Darren doesn't want you to miss claiming the Employee Retention Credit that many are still eligible for if their business was affected during the pandemic. This could result in tremendous savings for your business. Darren discusses the criteria to qualify for this special credit. (Check out this episode to see if you qualify.) Darren also points out that one common mistake that business owners make when filing their taxes is missing deductions. He highlights a few deductions that are often overlooked. Mileage for a personal vehicle, business meals, business trips, and special credits. Darren even touched on the topic of the tax law called the Augusta Rule. Check out the podcast as Darren delves deeper into each category. We learn something new each time we talk with Darren. The Atlanta Falcons appear to be making a quarterback change and Aaron Freeman is investigating the All-22 film from the team's Week 13 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers to see why. He breaks down despite some issues with penalties, starter Marcus Mariota was also to blame for the team's inability t to put enough points on the scoreboard to win, highlighting missed throw from the passer in the first and fourth quarters. He also examines the rapport between Mariota and rookie wideout Drake London by looking at the interception thrown on the final play to Minkah Fitzpatrick. Finally, Aaron breaks down the Falcons' pass protection and tackling woes against the Steelers, DeAngelo Malone's usage on stunts, and Darren Hall's recent struggles to fill the shoes of Casey Hayward opposite A.J. The Atlanta Falcons have been bit by the injury bug as we've learned that Casey Heyward has been sent to the injured reserve list because of a shoulder injury. Arthur Smith and Dean Pees will be looking to guys like Darren Hall and Dee Alford to step into Heyward's role. Jarvis Davis and Tenitra Batiste talked about how the Falcons are prepared to go with what they have, but if the right move comes along, Terry Fontenot won't be scared to pick up the phone. Also, they discussed whether or not they will be watching the MLB playoffs now that the Atlanta Braves are out. Secondly, the Atlanta Hawks open the season against the Houston Rockets tonight at State Farm Arena. Trae Young and Dejounte Murray are the names that everyone will be paying attention to. Jarvis Davis and Tenitra Batiste talked about how it might take some time for Young and Murray to figure things out on defense. Lastly, the NFL held its annual fall meetings yesterday in Downtown New York. Jim Irsay spoke to the media about seriously considering the removal of Dan Snyder as the owner of the Washington Commanders. Jarvis and Tenitra talked about how it was about time for an owner to step up and say something in For The Culture. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

As we continue Financial Month on the Child Care Millionaire Podcast, we bring a special guest to you today, our very own CPA that we have been working with for 25 years, Mr. Darren Hall. Darren will be bringing us several tax strategies to help you avoid mistakes, keep better records, reduce your taxes, and more. We know taxes are a huge issue for child care people. Child Care owners are usually in business because they have a big heart, but many don't have extensive business or tax training. He also shares the most common record-keeping mistakes and how you can set systems up so you never again miss tracking an expense that could be written off. When it comes to finding ways to reduce your taxes, Darren doesn't want you to miss claiming the employee retention credit for 2021. This could result in a huge savings for you - we are talking $5K - $21K per employee. There are 2 ways to qualify for it: you had a significant reduction in profit or a partial suspension of operations (even only one classroom) due to government mandates. Listen to hear all the details. This is a big one. Darren shares some surprising criteria for writing off a business trip - you might want to double-check the way you are claiming your trips so you don't end up in hot water with the IRS. Darren also shares some of the advantages of diversifying your portfolio by owning your real estate versus renting or leasing. In this weeks episode we go over the hill with Darren Hall from Pacific Logging and Processing. We touch on his history in the industry, the highs the lows of running a big tower side, egos and industry trade shows. We also talk about breakfast burritos and Marlboros and how it "must be nice". Bruer's Contract Cutting from Dallas, Oregon is not closing it's doors. I figured Darren was talking about an outfit from Washington but he was not. Words spread in this industry like wildfire and Darren and I are both deeply sorry to Mike Bruer and everyone at Bruer's for spreading false information. I am editing this episode on the same day that Mike notified me of the rumor being spread here. I want to end this with a request to my listeners, if you have any questions about anything on the episodes please reach out to me so we can nip these things in the bud. Thank You If you or someone you know would make a great guest please shoot me an email at jason@jdavenportphotography.com using "podcast" in the subject line.
