Questions Covered: 2:20 – What would you say are the most important things the we as Catholics can do to share the love of Christ and promote the cause of life in our communities? 05:05 – We know that out of respect for the body, the Church requires the remains or cremains must be interned whole and complete. So why do we spread class 1 relics all over the globe? Doesn't this violate church teaching? 07:50 – My sister joined a church that rearranges their Creed to read “crucified, descended into hell, died, and was buried.” What are the implications of the Harrowing of Hell on Christology? 13:40 – How can we respond to someone who challenges the Church's and Christ's moral teachings out of a sense of empathy? 17:00 – How do you explain to fellow Catholics that Christ is in time but is fully God and God is outside of time? 19:40 – How would you go about the transformation by the renewal of your mind as St. Paul describes in Rom. 12:2? 22:55 – How has the Church portrayed Christ by allowing Cardinal McCarrick and other priests to remain in office even after their sexual abuses became known? 28:55 – Where in scripture does it show that Christ has a sense of humor? 30:50 – Why did Jesus Go to hell to save people? Why didn't he do it from heaven? 33:55 – We just heard a talk on why Jesus's manhood is so important. In light of that, shouldn't we place similar importance on his ethnicity? 37:55 – If I don't get the COVID vaccine I could lose my job, but it goes against my conscience. What would Jesus do in my situation? 46:50 – Jesus' last words to the woman caught in adultery were instructions to sin no more. How does one not become discouraged over this seemingly impossible command? 50:38 – I've heard it said that transgender people are less likely to commit suicide if we refer to them by their preferred pronouns. How do you respond to that and have a conversation with regards to transgenderism considering the Church's teachings and the image of God in us? …

Mustafa, who didn't want to reveal his last name because he still has family in Afghanistan, was able to get his wife and daughter out of the country, and they just made it to Modesto this week. He described the whole experience as chaotic, but is glad to have resettled in California. Guest: Mustafa, Afghan Translator Two San Diego County families, who were visiting relatives in Afghanistan, have been evacuated from the country amidst the chaos of the Taliban takeover. They are among several groups in the county, including two dozen students who attend the Cajon Valley Union School District, who found themselves stranded in Afghanistan. Efforts to loosen zoning rules in single family neighborhoods to create more housing have long been a contentious issue in California. But legislation that could create more multi-family housing took a big step forward in Sacramento Thursday. Reporter: Katie Orr, KQED
Personal stories about the difficulties Afghans face as they try to escape Afghanistan before U.S. troops leave. Afghan, Ahmadullah Sediqi, a former interpreter for the US military and retired Marine Thomas Praxades share their stories.
Doug Lehman and Donna Hughes had been RVing for five years by taking shorter trips when they opted to go full time once they retired. They started Workamping right away, then took three months off last winter to see what real retirement was like. Neither of them liked it and thought Workamping was a much better option to keep busy and give them a sense of purpose.

There's a humanitarian crisis taking place at Panama's southern border and in northern Colombia where thousands of migrants ranging from countries such as Venezuela, Cuba, Haiti and as far-flung as Congo, Syria and Nepal are lining up to cross the Darien Gap in the hope of some day reaching the United States of America. On this week's Colombia Calling podcast, we have the honour of talking to Raul Lopez, project coordinator and Doctor Fabiola Pintado, both of Doctors Without Borders (Medicos sin Fronteras, Medecins sans Frontieres) at their location on the frontline in the town of Bajo Chiquito in Panama. Lopez and Pintado speak to us about the awful state of the migrants emerging from the jungle after the 7-10 day trek of 60 miles through one of the world's most dangerous jungles. Women are raped, people are murdered, robbed, children washed away in turbulent rivers, people collapse from exhaustion are forced into being drugs mules and more. This is harrowing story of human suffering and is one which deserves to be widely heard. Tune in and hear about an underreported tragedy at the Darien Gap between Colombia and Panama and the work of the MSF.

Scott Dworkin speaks with Capitol Police Officer Harry Dunn. Officer Dunn will be one of the first officers called to testify in front of the House Select Committee investigating the January 6th insurrection against Congress. Last night, the most-watched right-wing extremist Fox News opinion host mercilessly attacked him for having personal, political views so we advanced the release of this first part of a gripping two-part interview with Officer Dunn so the public can learn more about him as a person and as a cop. This podcast is also what America needs to learn about the people who invaded the Capitol to end our country's unbroken chain of peaceful transitions of power by seditiously stopping the final electoral college vote from the officer's firsthand account of the nakedly open racism he had to endure. Here's an excerpt: "Politically, when you're out there doing that job, you don't think about anything except for doing your job effectively. I'll see congressmen who've made statements about January since then. I disagree with that at that moment. When I see them, I don't immediately think 'Oh, yo, you the one who's thinking?" "No, I'm just like, 'Hey Congressman, good to see you.' And then like afterward, I'd be like, 'wait a minute.' But my initial instinct is to do my job and make sure that everybody's good. I can have my political beliefs, you know, outside of doing my job but it doesn't affect me doing [the job they need and all. Like I said, I take pride in it and doing my job." "It's bigger than me, you know?" --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/dworkinreport/support
Please be aware the stories, theories, re-enactments and language in this podcast are of an adult nature and can be considered disturbing, frightening and in some cases even offensive. Listener Discretion is therefore advised. Welcome heathens welcome to the world of the weird and unexplained. I'm your host, Nicole Delacroix and together, we will be investigating stories about the things that go bump in the night, monsters lurking under your bed or deep in the forest, that unknown creature lurking just out of sight and frighteningly imagined creatures, ghosts, supernatural beings and even some unsolved mysteries. So, sit back, grab your favorite drink, and prepare to be transported to today's dark Enigma.... And on today's Dark enigma well, I got a listener comment that said I don't spend any time in the Northern states. I disagree, I've done plenty of stories about the Northern states, but since you asked I shall indulge you with a tale from up North, so nyah. Alright, with that said, we will still be playing our drinking game and as you know, the drinking game is only for those of us that are at home and have nowhere else to go tonight. The choice of libation is yours, so choose your poison accordingly… Alright, now for the game part how about every time I say Zombie that will be a single shot and every time I say Green, that will be a double shot. Ok, now that the business end is out of the way we can jump headfirst into today's dark enigma… so don your pilgrim's best fashions and prepare yourself for Pennsylvania Zombie Land and the Harrowing Tale of the Green Man Some places seem to have become so incredibly infused with weirdness that they push beyond even their own otherworldly boundaries to become breeding grounds for plentiful tales of the bizarre and urban legends. These are places in which reality, the supernatural, and the twisted imaginings of the human mind mash together into a mixture of oddities, half-truths, and potential real phenomena from which it is nearly impossible to extract what is really going on. One such place is a spooky little plot of woodland located within the U.S. state of Pennsylvania, where the real, the strange, and the surreal wastelands of our dreams and nightmares seem to twist together into one confounding, inscrutable entity. It is a place from which numerous odd tales and urban legends have sprung to life, and which in at least one case have firm, concrete roots in reality. This is Zombie Land, where eerie legends, potentially supernatural phenomena, and the truth collide.

Hi, I'm Lou and welcome back to another episode of That Haunted Show, still trying to make THS a thing but no one seems to be digging it.Today we are going to be looking at St Augstine lighthouse. Now this is a story of horror and intrigue, a ghostly tale of despair as it were. We also get very factual over here, almost documentary vibes. I've been meaning to do a research episode for a long time now but with the move and everything happening it's been hard to find the time and actually get around to doing it. Also, we do now have a Patreon page, if that's something you're interested in, there are 4 tiers ranging from just 1 pound to 20, and you get a lot for your money, so hop on over there and see what you think, it will be linked in the show notes too. Or the word Patreon is hyperlinked to my page, thanks to my big brains. Also, I was recommended to open a buy me a coffee page instead which is an alternative and not a subscription-based thing, so if you fancy joining that and becoming part of the show and supporting it click hereSo if you're a lover of all things paranormal, this will be a good one for you!Let me know what you guys think, any suggestions for future episodes or any feedback will be greatly appreciated. Just come and drop us a message on our socials.Instagram Facebook TwitterOr email us over at firstname.lastname@example.orgIf you enjoy the show and listen each week there is one thing you can do to really help us out and that is to review it wherever you listen. As a new show out in the void, having reviews generates interest and targets like-minded people to hopefully enjoy and join our little community. I'm not sure about Spotify but a review on Apple would certainly help us out a lot. Or if you have friends who love a good ghost story send them our way, we definitely don't have a shortage over here. Steve Baker was among the sector of society most affected by the covid pandemic: the live entertainment industry. You don't do wedding receptions via Zoom, right? So when everything shut down, he was hit hard, and was forced to adjust fire, as they say. In this episode, Steve will share how the lockdowns affected him, and how he changed his priorities - and even discovered a calling in life he may not have heard without it. Says host James Newcomb: "Steve is a dynamic performer, terrific trumpet player, great singer, just a terrific stage presence and it was just a treat to share the stage with him for a short time when I lived in the Raleigh/Durham area. I learned a lot about being a showman and seeing the value of entertainment and knowing how to carry a crowd. And if I were to really examine my own music or my podcasting career, I would say that I've learned a lot or I've applied a lot of the things that I learned from him while with the Bull City Syndicate there in Raleigh and Durham." In this conversation with Steve, you'll hear:-The initial reaction to the pandemic and lockdowns...05:32-The toughest thing to deal with regarding the lockdowns...12:43-A contrarian view to the virus and the government's reaction to it...17:46-Worshipping at the First Church of Covid...23:05-How our resilience and response to adversity changes as we age...30:51-How others within Steve's world have responded to the pandemic...46:15-The true story of how Steve got "fact-checked" by a Hollywood gossip columnist...55:40http://jamesnewcombontrumpet.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Steve-Baker.pdf (Click here to download the transcript for the episode) Resources mentioned:-https://bullcitysyndicate.com/home (Bull City Syndicate) -http://thepragmaticconstitutionalist.com (The Pragmatic Constitutionalist website) -https://jamesnewcombontrumpet.com/captivate-podcast/elizabeth-peroutka/ (Trumpet Dynamics podcast w/ Beth Peroutka) Credits:Trumpet Dynamics: The Story of the Trumpet, In the Words of Those Who Play It Host: James Newcomb Guest: Steve Baker Opening music: "Folklore" by https://bigbigtrain.com (Big Big Train) Closing music: "Creepin' With Clark" written and performed by Mike Vax Audio editing by: James Newcomb Show notes prepared by: James Newcomb
Paula Harrowing, a 49 y.o. British queer activist describes what it was like coming out into London's vibrant and diverse lesbian club scene in the late 80s and 90s only to be greeted soon thereafter by the arrival of AIDs. While nursing her gay male friends who were succumbing to that disease, she noticed the paucity of health services for women and children with HIV, prompting her to found a non-profit that filled that gap and still exists today.
