Jeremy Gardner is a serial entrepreneur, angel investor, and venture capitalist who has found a great deal of success by diving into the ideas he's passionate about and staying at the forefront of business and industry from blockchain technology, cosmetics, and psychedelics. In this episode, Jeremy details how he's always had a natural inclination to try things out which has served him well being an entrepreneur. Yet what you'll find especially interesting about Jeremy's story is that his ventures are often on the bleeding edge, with many of his ideas being ahead of their time, and how he intentionally exits his businesses once they become mainstream. And beneath it all, is his devotion to making a positive impact with whatever he pursues.Jeremy takes us on his journey from a life-changing experience using psychedelics to becoming a cryptocurrency evangelist and dropping out of college to start the first Decentralized Finance (DeFi) application built on Ethereum. Jeremy shares what it was like to be the crypto poster child thrust into the media spotlight and how that experience actually led him to start his own skincare company. He goes on to explain how his penchant for being on the bleeding edge drove his decision to leave his work in crypto, as well as other business that followed, and coming full circle with his venture into the psychedelic industry. Jeremy is transparent with the fact that despite all his business success, his road as an entrepreneur hasn't always been easy. He offers his simple advice for pushing through the difficult times, and he reveals the importance of making a positive impact in all his endeavors. Finally, he gets right to the heart of what he thinks is the truth about being a business owner vs. what we hear.I think you'll be inspired by Jeremy's “try it and find out” approach to business and his dedication to doing good in the world.Skip to topic:3:18 - On becoming a cryptocurrency evangelist and starting the first deDefi application6:30 - What is a blockchain?7:46 - Ethereum vs. Bitcoin10:35 - The driving force behind creating Auger12:34 - Creating something brilliant ahead of its time15:42 - Being thrust into the limelight as a crypto evangelist18:55 - Turning a personal struggle into a new men's skincare business 21:28 - Shifting business focus to the psychedelics industry23:58 - Living life on the bleeding edge32:12 - The struggles Jeremy has faced throughout his entrepreneurial journey33:42 - The importance of having fun in pushing through the hard times35:52 - What Jeremy says is real in the business world vs. what we hearFind Jeremy at:Website: https://gonzogardner.com Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/gonzogardner/?hl=enTwitter: https://twitter.com/disruptepreneurMadeMan Skincare: https://getmademan.com/  (use discount code Nice30 on a one-time purchase or Naughty50 on a subscription purchase)Visit Stephanie at: https://stephaniehayes.biz/Follow me on Instagram | Facebook | LinkedIn | TwitterSupport the show

As I am sure many of you listening to this show currently are aware, the potential of psychedelics to assist in some of the most hard to treat mental illnesses, such as depression, is being recognized exponentially in our current time in history. This being said, many of us that have been connecting with these medicines for years now have been saying this from our own anecdotal evidence & as such, it is fantastic to see this research finally coming out & backing up what many of us had already hypothesized for years. Stopping by to share his journey & experiences with us today is a gentleman who is one of these individuals who was able to connect with psychedelics & have his lifelong struggle with depression come to an end. As a result of this, his life since has been able to embody the notions of excitement, joy & business success, all of which were a mere pipe dream when he was living in the throes of depression. Since then, his mission has been to not only speak to his personal experiences in this realm, but to also invest in companies in the realms of psychedelics, blockchain & cosmetics, such as his newest company, Mademan, to name but a few, in order to continue empowering people at large with the tools & resources to be able to live the lives of their dreams. Show Notes:(3:53)  Jeremy talks about his mentor.(5:28) How did Jeremy first become interested in psychedelics?(14:07) The rise in popularity of psychedelics. (17:31) The real goal of psychedelics. (23:29) Ryan's viewpoint on God.(52:22) Where you can reach Jeremy!(52:43) One final question…Join the Highly Optimized Ceremony Circle on Facebook! https://www.highlyoptimized.me This episode was produced by Mazel Tov Media in Quincy, Massachusetts.

Happy (very-belated) Holidays everyone!! It has been a bit of a rough month for all three of us here at the pod (some of these reasons are mentioned in the episode), so we knew going into this recording there was a good chance it wouldn't be out before Christmas. Sadly that proved to be the case, but we're glad the episode was finished in time for the end of 2022. And we're even more delighted to be reviewing another feature starring Jeremy Gardner (alongside Graham Skipper, Taylor Zaudtke and Rigo Garay) on the pod: THE LEECH (2022) from writer/director Eric Pennycoff! Our host Eric first saw the movie at this year's Chattanooga Film Fest, and has been looking forward to covering it on the pod ever since. Unfortunately the fore-mentioned rough month lead to this being more of a rambling/cathartic episode than we intended, but hopefully we're closing out 2022 on an entertaining note. We absolutely encourage everyone to check out the movie (currently available on VOD, blu-ray and the Arrow streaming service) before listening to this episode. Again, happy holidays everyone and thanks so much for listening!! CW: abortion, suicide (both of which are elements of the movie and are likewise discussed in this review)

Co-Host Jeremy Gardner (https://mountaintoppodcast.com/mademan) My guest Jeremy Gardner has gone from a rough upbringing to being a high-profile 'crypto bro', which led to being a silicon-valley venture capitalist. But nowadays he has turned his attention almost completely to men's skin care. No doubt, I hear men grumble all the time about how women get all the advantages in the looks department--cosmetics, makeup, etc. And I mean, anyone who has ever seen the 'before and after' pics of female celebs with and without makeup knows exactly how that can play out. So then, what Jeremy advocates is leveling the playing field for us as men...starting with making our skin look its absolute best. He even goes so far as to say this could be THE major factor that will attract women who might otherwise not even notice you. In fact, he strongly advocates TELLING women you practice skin care as soon as you meet them to turn them on. As odd as that may sound, there is truth in the simple fact that women appreciate a man who does the best with what he has, and this episode proceeds to break that concept down perhaps better than we ever have on this show. Listen in as Jeremy and I talk about the different ways we as men shortchange ourselves when it comes to looking our best, and how to use simple appearance hacks to look better, feel better AND finally stop disappointing sexy women everywhere. Finish up 2022 and get rolling on making 2023 the best year ever by talking to me on the phone or Zoom. Today I have with me crypto currency investor and millionaire, Jeremy Gardner. We start off with Jeremy telling us the story of where he came to learn about crypto currency, drop out of college, and then eventually acquire Bitcoin. Unable to get funding or loans from firms or investors, he eventually had to resort to liquidating all of his own assets to fund Augur, which in the end turned out to be a good decision. He gives some advice on what people should do to become more comfortable with themselves and be more true to themselves. These include meditation, cardiovascular exercise, and diet, and then he recommends you don’t spend a lot of time on social media and on your computer, but to read books, expand your opportunities, and learn how to learn. “Reading stoicism is just the best way to overcome obstacles in your life, to diminish the ego, to be the best person you can be. I cannot recommend a better school of thought.” 32:53. We talk about spirituality and Jeremy tells about some of his beliefs that have influenced him, including serendipity, or serendipitous situations in life. Jeremy’s story 2:30Augur 13:59Jeremy recommends this book 27:34How to get to the point where you’re comfortable with and true to yourself 29:42His spiritual side 36:46“It’s finding that balance. Whatever your indulgence is, and it’s great if it can be reading or writing, or jogging, or just listening to music. But for some people we’ve got a more hedonistic side and indulging in that is OK, but it’s finding your limits and never exceeding them.” 34:14See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

For many believers, any time we fail or we fall, we tell ourselves that we have to go all the way back to the beginning or that we have to be saved again. In reality, confession and repentance are the gifts available to those who know Jesus when we fall short and stumble. This week, Jeremy Gardner teaches through John 13, where Jesus reminds Peter that he doesn't need to be bathed again. He simply needs to allow Jesus to wash his feet. For more info, visit us online at sharonchurch.com and follow us on Facebook and Instagram.

For our very first episode, we reviewed the entire Return of the Living Dead franchise. So we're kicking off this next series of episodes with a zombie world tour, with each of our hosts picking one movie to review and then a twitter poll determined the fourth. Jake chose The Battery (2012, United States) from pod-favorite creator Jeremy Gardner (and if you haven't checked out After Midnight, his collaboration with Christian Stella, please please do!). Eric's pick is The Girl With All the Gifts (2016, United Kingdom), the adaptation of the novel from writer Mike Carey. Nick's selection is Little Monsters (2019, Australia), from director Abe Forsythe and starring the fabulous Lupita Nyong'o (and decidedly NOT Howie Mandel).  For the fourth and final movie, the winner of the twitter poll was #Alive (2020, South Korea) which is currently available on Netflix. And Jake talks a bit about #Alive's parallel movie Alone as well! Frogsie didn't survive long enough to see this episode's release, but we hope YOU enjoy it. And as always, thanks for listening! In 2012, the film THE BATTERY was released during the middle of the zombie subgenre craze. Director/screenwriter/actor Jeremy Gardner's film received a strong cult following and even had a Scream Factory release of the film. Gardner has gone on to acting in fellow indy director films such as Joe Begos' film BLISS (2019) and Justin Benson/Aaron Moorhead's film SPRING (2014). Finally coming back to the directing chair, his latest film AFTER MIDNIGHT (2020) was also produced by Benson/Moorhead. Each night after midnight an unseen monster attacks Hank's (Jeremy Gardner's) northern Florida home. All this occurred only after his longtime live-in-girlfriend Abby (Brea Grant) had left him mysteriously. His friends think he's going mad, but he's defiant that an unknown creature keeps attacking. He's not sure what to do, but as he tries desperately to get in contact with Abby, he holds up with shotgun as the unseen threat continues to attack each evening. AFTER MIDNIGHT has received fairly positive reviews by critics. Its quirkiness however has given it a mixed reception from viewers. Some feel it is more a drama than a horror film, but either way, its word of mouth has been fairly alive. Dark Discussions takes a look at this polarizing film and gives their thoughts.
