From Evidence to Action: Incorporating Disability Inclusion in Medical Training and Practice (ICAM 2026) Session Description The ICAM Series | Recorded Live at the International Congress on Academic Medicine (ICAM) What does it take to move disability inclusion from research and policy into everyday medical training and practice? Recorded live at the International Congress on Academic Medicine (ICAM) in Ottawa, Canada, this special episode of the Docs With Disabilities Podcast brings together an extraordinary panel of physician leaders, educators, and advocates working to transform disability inclusion across undergraduate medical education, residency training, and clinical practice. Together, the panel explores how institutions can move beyond awareness and compliance toward meaningful, sustainable change. Drawing from scholarship, systems leadership, and lived experience, they discuss the realities of accommodation implementation, the importance of centralized and trusted systems, faculty training, universal design, and the role of culture in shaping whether disability inclusion succeeds or stalls. This conversation asks difficult—but necessary—questions: How do we create systems that are consistent and humane? How do we support learners and physicians across transitions and career stages? And how do we build medical environments where disability is expected, planned for, and valued? Rich with practical insight and grounded in real-world experience, this live ICAM session highlights a field at an important turning point—one where we increasingly have the evidence, the tools, and the responsibility to act. Whether you are a learner, educator, physician, administrator, or institutional leader, this episode offers concrete ideas and inspiration for advancing disability inclusion within your own environment. Trained as a family physician and dedicated to resilience through sustainable practice development, Dr. Lavitt also offers coaching and peer support to family physicians on advocacy, disability, and well-being through the Ontario College of Family Physicians (OCFP). She established the first peer support group for physicians with chronic illness and/or disabilities at the OCFP in 2024 and continues to co-lead this group monthly. While she finds working with individual physicians and small groups deeply rewarding, this intervention is not enough to dismantle the system of barriers that disabled physicians face in our medical culture, so Dr. Lavitt brings her professional and lived experience as a disabled physician to advocacy initiatives at her academic institution, provincial, and national levels with involvement in peer support projects, webinars, and conference appearances. Read Full Transcript Welcome to The Buzz from ChannelBuzz.ca, I’m Robert Dutt, today is Wednesday, May 27th, and here’s what’s happening in the channel today. Yesterday, ASUS Canada announced the appointment of Vernon Coutinho as Country Manager for its System Business Group. The announcement, which came just ahead of the ASUS Business Summit in Toronto, reflects the company’s long-term growth ambitions in the Canadian commercial market. Coutinho, who brings nearly 30 years of industry experience, will oversee strategy and performance across consumer, gaming, and commercial segments. For Canadian MSPs, this signals a deepening of the ASUS partner ecosystem locally. The company is actively accelerating its focus on AI-ready commercial devices, bringing its consumer DNA into the workplace. According to ASUS, the goal is to elevate the business laptop experience by delivering devices that are secure, manageable, and enjoyable to use. Also on Tuesday, 7AI announced the availability of PLAID ELITE, a fully managed, AI-native security operations solution. The platform combines autonomous investigation by AI agents with expert oversight from 7AI security engineers, delivering a continuous, follow-the-sun security outcome. The company is positioning the tool as a way for organizations to protect their environments without needing to build or scale an internal operations team. What makes this relevant for the channel is the service model. Rather than relying entirely on human analyst shifts, PLAID ELITE’s coverage scales with investigation volume through agentic AI. 7AI noted that agents are now autonomously completing the majority of investigations end-to-end, allowing partners to drive security outcomes through technology rather than headcount. Cybersecurity platform Guardz has appointed former Pax8 executive Danni Munro as its new Director of Channel Sales for the Australia and New Zealand region. While this is an international appointment, Munro’s background in scaling Pax8’s operations underscores a broader channel push by Guardz. The company is actively deepening its partner relationships to meet accelerating demand from small and medium-sized businesses facing rising ransomware threats. This move highlights a continuing global trend where cybersecurity vendors are relying on seasoned channel veterans to help MSPs deliver consolidated security services to clients who lack the internal expertise to manage threats independently. In Brief – TechnoPlanet’s ChannelNEXT conference kicks off tomorrow in Toronto to address pressing partner challenges. ManageEngine says its new autonomous AI push will streamline IT operations for managed service providers. Global Startups is set to host the Tech Builders 2026 conference in Toronto on June 16. Mitsubishi HC Capital Canada is urging the channel to embed financing into partnerships to offset complex technology costs. The CRTC has ordered streaming platforms like Netflix and Apple TV to boost their spending on Canadian content. Full details and links in the show notes or the blog post. Later today on In The Channel, we will be airing our conversation with Coro CEO Joe Sykora to discuss security stacks and the 2026 threat landscape. And if you haven’t heard it yet, be sure to check out yesterday’s episode featuring Nigel Brown, CTO of Microserve, for a practitioner’s take on AI readiness and tokenomics from Dell Technologies World. That’s how we’re seeing the headlines today. I’m Robert Dutt for ChannelBuzz.ca, thanks for listening. Have a great day.

Despite being a major figure of Haitian literature, Jean-Claude Charles (1949-2008) has received relatively little scholarly attention to date. Jean-Claude Charles: A Reader's Guide (Liverpool UP, 2022) seeks to serve as an introduction to the work and universe of this unique and capital writer to an English-language readership. The essays in the collection are organized along three major axes: contextual articles, placing Charles' work within the larger Haitian literary landscape, punctual articles, addressing specific themes in a selection of Charles' books, and author testimonials, attesting to Charles' work's importance both to his contemporaries and to a new generation of writers. With the ongoing republication of Charles' work by Mémoire d'encrier in Montreal, and the increasing interest in the author, the proposed volume is timely and necessary, and is in large part a critical accompaniment to the republishing programme. Described by Dany Laferrière as "most brilliant Haitian author of his generation," Charles has until recently remained largely unread and little understood. As the various chapters in the volume show, Charles is an author for now, and the collection will accompany readers seeking strikingly original insights on issues such as race, migration, and exile, and the role of the author and literature in times of crisis. Guest Eliana Văgălău is Associate Professor and director of the French program at Loyola University Chicago. Her research on francophone Caribbean literature and contemporary philosophy focuses on the relationship between aesthetics and politics, as well as on questions of transnationalism, diaspora, and sexuality. In addition to co-editing this volume, she has published articles on the work of authors such as Maryse Condé, James Noël, and Jean-Claude Charles. As a founding member of the Collectif Jean-Claude Charles, she dedicates much of her work to making visible the work of this fundamental Haitian author. She has published translations of literary and philosophical texts and is currently completing an essay on contemporary French Caribbean fiction. By teaching a course on Black Paris, her extensive collaborations with contemporary Black artists and writers living in France today, as well as serving as co-organizer of the Black Europe Symposium in 2023 at Loyola University Chicago, she has developed a secondary research interest in the city of Paris as achief site of Black transnational encounters. The first World Cup of the season took place in a new country (South Korea) and featured treacherously muddy conditions that forced riders to navigate large sections of the course on foot. 24-year-old Maddie Munro crossed the finish line in third, using her cyclocross background to propel herself to the best result she's had since joining the Elite ranks last year. Payson caught up with Maddie to talk about starting the race on tires she'd never ridden, battling with the World Champion at the front of the race, and the emotional reception she received from her team at the finish. They also discuss the broader implications of her result. After signing with Trek Factory Racing at just 18, Maddie did not have her contract renewed after last season, which left her scrambling to find an alternative. Now racing with Liv Cycling, she says she felt at home almost immediately. Head to Saily.com/WithPace and use code WithPace for 15% their new eSIM. Broadcasting live from the vibrant show floor of the SIAL Food Innovation Show in Montreal, this episode of The Food Professor Podcast delivers a dynamic blend of industry insight, macroeconomic analysis, and a compelling first-ever deep dive into the fast-growing pet food sector. Our guest on this episode is Dylan Munro, Canadian-born COO and Co-Founder of Spot & Tango. Munro unpacks how the company is disrupting traditional pet food with its human-grade, vet-developed meals delivered via a direct-to-consumer subscription model. At the center of its innovation is FreshDry™ “UnKibble,” a product that bridges the gap between fresh and dry food—offering both nutritional integrity and convenience. With millions of meals already served in the U.S., Munro explains how the company is thoughtfully adapting its operations, logistics, and value proposition for Canadian pet parents—highlighting broader trends in premiumization, transparency, and health-conscious consumption across both human and pet food categories. In the news, hosts Michael LeBlanc and Sylvain Charlebois pivot to the week's most pressing food and agriculture news. They begin with a wide-ranging macro discussion. Central banks, including the Bank of Canada and the Federal Reserve, are holding interest rates steady amid geopolitical volatility, including disruptions stemming from the Iran war and the blockages in the Strait of Hormuz. The hosts explore how these pressures ripple through global supply chains, commodity pricing, and ultimately food costs and will result in food inflation towards the top of the estimate band for 2026 of 6%. The conversation then turns to Canada's evolving fiscal strategy, including a spring fiscal update and debate over a potential sovereign wealth fund, drawing comparisons to the Alberta Heritage Savings Trust Fund. They assess what this could mean for long-term agricultural investment and national food security. Data takes center stage with a discussion of the Canadian Food Sentiment Index from Dalhousie University's Agri-Food Analytics Lab, supported by Caddle. The hosts unpack key findings on consumer confidence, affordability concerns, and shifting perceptions of the food system. They also tackle the increasingly controversial topic of surveillance pricing—what it is, whether it exists in practice, and how regulators and retailers are responding to the political pressure. The episode wraps with a series of sharp, fast-moving stories: follow-up legal action by Quebec's maple syrup federation over alleged product adulteration, grassroots innovation from food banks experimenting with fresh produce, and the growing influence of creator-led food entrepreneurship—highlighted by a Montreal restaurateur hitting one million YouTube subscribers. The show closes on a celebratory note with the expansion of a local restaurant, reinforcing the resilience and creativity of Indie restaurants. It's the best time of year on the lacrosse calendar — every high school and college team's season has started and (as far as we know) no team's season has ended (and that's tough with teams in Minnesota and New Hampshire starting so late and teams in South Carolina ending so early). So what better time than now for IL's Terry Foy to bring on former Denver coach and 3d Lacrosse founder Jamie Munro to share his thoughts on the season (particularly dialed in on Princeton's men's team and Northwestern's women's team) before diving on his methodology behind his business, JM3 Lacrosse. Over the last 10 years, Jamie has learned about the field of ecological dynamics, and that leads to a coaching style known as a "constraints-led approach," which more acutely manifests in a "principles-based" way of playing. If you're looking for an academic and theoretical lacrosse conversation to start your Sunday, this one is it.

By Doug Green “Businesses are experiencing a form of identity theft in voice—and they're paying the price for fraud they didn't create.” At the Channel Partners Conference & Expo 2026, I spoke with Maurie Munro, Vice President of Enterprise Sales at Transaction Network Services (TNS), about one of the most urgent challenges facing the telecom ecosystem: the collapse of trust in voice. TNS operates at the intersection of enterprises, carriers, and consumers, with a communications division focused on ensuring that legitimate calls are delivered, recognized, and trusted. But as Munro explained, the reality is far more complex. Today's voice environment is shaped by widespread spoofing and fraud, where bad actors impersonate legitimate businesses by using real phone numbers without authorization. The result is what Munro describes as “identity theft in voice,” where enterprises suffer reputational and operational damage from activity they didn't initiate. Consumers, in turn, have adapted. Caller ID is no longer trusted. Calls are ignored, labeled as “Spam Likely,” or blocked altogether—often impacting legitimate outreach. For enterprises, that translates into declining answer rates, reduced campaign performance, and strained customer relationships. TNS brings a data-driven approach to solving this problem, processing more than 1.5 billion call events daily. This scale gives the company deep visibility into how calls are treated across networks and where breakdowns in trust occur. The company's TNS-COM business focuses on three critical areas: Spoof protection, which helps enterprises identify when and how their numbers are being misused without their knowledge Enterprise branded calling, which displays a verified business name and logo on the consumer's device Telephone number reputation monitoring, providing visibility into how calls are labeled, scored, and treated across the ecosystem Together, these capabilities help enterprises protect their brand identity in voice—much like consumers monitor and protect their personal identity in financial systems. The impact is particularly acute in high-touch industries such as banking, healthcare, retail, and contact centers, where voice remains essential for critical communications like fraud alerts, appointment reminders, and service notifications. When those calls fail to connect—or worse, are mistrusted—the consequences ripple across operations, increasing costs and reducing effectiveness. Looking ahead, Munro sees branded calling evolving beyond simple identification. While displaying a business name is important, the future lies in richer context—logo, intent, and verified identity working together to rebuild trust at scale. “The goal isn't just to get the call through,” Munro emphasized. “It's to ensure the person receiving it knows who it's from—and can trust it.” As the industry continues to combat fraud and improve call authentication frameworks, the next phase is clear: restoring confidence in voice as a trusted channel for both businesses and consumers. Send a textWhat if the secret to high-performing teams isn't working harder, but putting happiness first? In this episode of Get Amplified, we sit down with technology strategist and former CTO advisor Richard Munro to explore an idea that challenges a lot of conventional leadership thinking: happiness comes before performance, not after it.This is a conversation of two halves: Storytelling in tech and happiness in work. What struck us most is that having spent his career in some of the most technical roles in the industry, Richard's biggest insight wasn't about technology. It was about people.Because even the best technology strategy fails if the team delivering it isn't happy, aligned, and energised.Richard's career spans everything from mainframes to CTO office of some of the biggest names in tech. Along the way he developed a powerful belief about leadership and strategy: context comes before everything. That's why he challenges the familiar “start with why” idea. Richard argues that the real starting point is “where.” Until you understand the context people are operating in, their constraints, pressures, ambitions, and environment, you can't truly understand their motivations. The conversation also explores how storytelling shapes strategy itself. But the most powerful part of the discussion comes when Richard reflects on leadership. After leading teams of every size, Richard reflects that great teams are built on happy individuals.Instead of waiting until the end of a project to celebrate success, Richard encourages us to identify the moments in a week that give people a genuine “fist pump”, those small wins that create energy, motivation, and momentum. He also shares three leadership principles that have guided him throughout his career:Guard your integrity. Don't be afraid to stand up for what's right.Tackle the problem in front of you. Don't wait for others to get started, just get stuck in.Think speed and scale and settle for good enough vs perfection.Richard's book recommendation, The Happiness Advantage by Shawn Achor, reinforces the key idea from this conversation: happiness drives results, not the other way around. If you're interested in building high-performing teams, leading with authenticity, and translating complexity into meaningful action, this episode is packed with insight.Listen, share with a colleague who leads through change, and if it resonates, subscribe and leave a review so more people can find the show.We would love you to follow us on LinkedIn! https://www.linkedin.com/company/amplified-group/

On this, our 308th Evolutionary Lens livestream, we discuss glyphosate, Roundup, Monsanto, and how science and the law are done. A benchmark scientific review paper from 2000, which established the safety of glyphosate for humans, has been retracted by the publisher, on the basis that a) the paper did not actually review the available evidence, b) the stated authors did not actually write (much of) the paper, and c) employees of Monsanto, which makes Roundup, cryptically contributed substantively to the paper. This paper never should have been published, and its retraction should prompt the EPA to revamp guidelines for the use of glyphosate. Also: peer review and scientific culture are widely gamed. And: punitive damages to injured plaintiffs, awarded by juries against corporations, are being reduced by appellate courts due to a misapplication of the 14th Amendment.*****Our sponsors:Xlear: Xylitol nasal spray that acts as prophylaxis against respiratory illnesses by reducing the stickiness of bacteria and viruses.
