Nothing brings the neighborhood together like a good old fashioned radio contest. Especially when the prize is beef jerky! In this episode of Mittens in the Morning, our favorite host puts those ears to the test with a cats-only game of "Name That Sound". Two callers are on the line, and let's just say, it is clear they are both playing a game within a game. Something is off about both of them, and the radio station is starting to feel like a house of cards.Credits
Bobby shares his favorite TikTok trends right now that include girls asking permission from their boyfriends/husbands if they have permission to eat. Amy has a gift of being able to identify random sounds. In today's game, she tries to go 5 out of 7 to win a prize for a caller. Eddie is doing something dishonest when it comes to returning something to the store that he already used. We also talked about the crazy story of a New Jersey woman who was taken into custody for practicing dentistry without a license after failing to complete a root canal procedure. And why officials are issuing a warning to restaurants regarding individuals posing as health inspectors to film social media videos.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
A vacuum cleaner somehow becomes the center of the conversation, Chase defends a pepper beer like it's a life choice, and Jason breaks down The Running Man like it's required viewing. The guys bounce between dream travel spots, shark diving debates, Pedro Pascal vs. Glen Powell arguments, and whether Austin really deserves its comedy reputation. Kevin brings a dad tip about making vacations memorable, while Jose keeps building an absurd Florida Man streak. Meanwhile someone may or may not be experimenting with fasting, the internet continues to archive people's worst decisions, and Name That Sound returns with another round of audio chaos.
A quick stop turns into a way-too-serious debate about lines, wait times, and why grown men take small inconveniences personally. From there, we run through Florida Man, Name That Sound, and She's Always Right — none of which go the way anyone expects. There are food arguments, intro-skipping drama, childhood rules that don't hold up, and more confidence than the situation deserves. Nobody agrees. Nobody backs down.
Shhhh...it's our QUIETEST podcast ever. It's the final week of Jakeuary, and this week we're (very quietly) talking about a very quiet movie: the 2018 John Krasinski film A Quiet Place. It's also Jake's flu game episode! The boys talk about Krasinski, Emily Blunt, whether the monsters are just being cranky, sexual performance in the post-apocalypse, the use of sound and silence in the film, being gassy in the world of A Quiet Place, and much much more. Plus, we play a game of Name That Sound. Join us...if you dare!

Kevin and Jason roll up to Jose's house for a "simple" Thanksgiving-themed episode… and of course it immediately turns into chaos. The crew breaks down their Thanksgiving plans, derails into food debates, and nearly comes to blows over cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie. Chris announces he'll be spending Thanksgiving alone (which nobody handles well), Chase explains his family's legendary Turkey Bowl, and the boys stumble through Name That Sound like their brains were cooked at 350°. Plus: a dad tip that accidentally turns into NFL commentary, helium voices, random audio failures, and the kind of dysfunctional holiday energy every family knows too well. A Very Dysfunctional Thanksgiving indeed.

The best thing about chores is identifying the sound they make using your ears. It's downhill from there BUT with some groovy tunes on, any chore becomes a dance party. Amiright? Except duvet related chores, those are just a chore. We begin with an Echo Song about being the insatiable desire to take a thing apart to see how it works and then feelings that arise when you realize that putting it back together may not be in the cards. This happens in my life more often than I'd care to admit. Might as well sing a song about it that promotes pitch awareness in a Gypsy Punk style. ✪ Perk up your ears in this aural awareness game Name That Sound. I will play the audio of various household chores and you must identify them. You don't have to identify WITH them. It's not an empathy exercise, just a sound naming game. Enjoy! ✪ And lastly, I take those chore sounds and remix them into a funky groove with which you are encouraged to Jam Along. Your body and surroundings become drums in this body percussion and found object percussion activity. Make it funky! ✪ We hope you enjoy our music and games for preschoolers, kindergarteners and early elementary age kids! It's like a music lesson for kids that encourages household responsibility. ✪✪✪ I have written three pictures books celebrating families. The truck is still there, so does that mean it is fair game for Fester? A listener e-mailed MJ about a segment he never got to. So what exactly is the Wawa heist? When it comes to heists, it must have something to do with Fester. Today's Morons in the News features a St. Pete woman who blamed an egg roll on her erratic driving, a blanket draper, and a Florida man who is trying to sue a residential community for getting bonked on the head by a gate. MJ finds a story about a train accident that left an Amazon truck sliced in half. Roxanne says she heard a rumor that kids above 9 years old don't have street-crossing awareness. It comes down to a Pinellas County bus driver to deliver the final say on the theory. Froggy presents a new game show, "Name That Sound." It has something to do with a show member's social media. Froggy has a huge problem with his neighbors. He says he noticed them getting' it on through an opaque bathroom window. Roxanne told MJ that she noticed her mom friends are oblivious to what is going on in the world. What about listeners? United Airlines revealed they will be serving alcohol again. Will this fire up more cabin disturbances? Tiger Woods was seen walking without a cane for the first time since his accident. Costco is recalling one of the products they sell in their stores. Did you lose attraction to your partner during the pandemic? MJ asks around the room to see what the verdict is with members on the show. Roxanne got Froggy a birthday gift.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

I am introducing a new episode titling concept that is akin to how certain race horses are named. See, this episode contains pieces of previous episodes as well as new material. Thus, the episode title pays homage to that lineage to form the poetic phrase: "Hello Donkey Potato." Race horse names are often nods to their parents i.e. a horse named Waffle Toes may have been sired by Brekky Pie and Foot Fingers. I expect this innovation to spread rapidly throughout the world of podcasting. It is my gift to the industry...my legacy. But enough about the title, what fun music and games for kids lies within these 1s and 0s? We begin with a Time To Move movement game called Bubble Bubble Pop. Kids will use their hands, fingers and claps to perform a dance that develops small motor skills AND big movement thrills. ✪ Nextly, we share a Noodle Loaf version of the Echo Song mega-hit, Down By The Bay. This was recorded when Joni was a good bit shorter than she currently is. Not to worry, I have adjusted the mic to accommodate her latest height. We've added our own punchlines to this song. How did we do? ✪ Who doesn't love a listening skill building game like Name That Sound? I don't want to give away any answers but let's just say you're going to need an extra pair of socks to play this one. ✪ A Tiny Song that is about a Donkey Farm and about how everyone is going there tonight. Not too much to add to that. ✪ We hope you enjoy our music and games for preschoolers, kindergarteners and early elementary age kids! It's like a music lesson for kids you can play at 1.25x speed. Sorry kids, the song about the history of Kraftwerk didn't make the final edit but don't fret, there is a clapping game about robots. There is also a Western folk song and opportunities to make use of your ears and hands so make sure to have those nearby before hitting play. We begin with a song game called Clap It Back about robots. But is it a song about robots? Or an homage to Phil Collins? Can it be both? This is a great way to develop Rhythmic Awareness and 80s pop icon awareness. ✪ Kids love classic Western cinema so here is an old Western folk song that also happens to be an Echo Song. So hop up in the saddle and join us on the trail. ✪ The word "Aural" is confusing when heard aurally. That is ironic. There is nothing we can do about that but what we can do is develop Aural Awareness via a game called Name That Sound. We'll play a sound, you try to name it. ✪ If you like Rhythmic Improvisation and Body Percussion then you will love Jam Along. Stomp, clap, pat and snap your funkiest groove along to our funkiest groove. ✪ We hope you enjoy our music and games for preschoolers, kindergarteners and early elementary age kids! Warm up your vocals with a round of singing slide. Sing a party plan with our echo song. Name some sounds. And then take some time for yourself, because you deserve it. Singing Slide is based on a vocal warm up game that music teachers like to play with their students. Kids mimic a slide whistle which gets them singing in their head voices and exploring their vocal range. It gives me the opportunity to record myself playing slide whistle which always comes as a surprise to my neighbors. ✪ Party Time! This echo song about planning a party has an animal themed twist. Speaking of which animal themed twist would make for a great kids party theme. Giraffe Limbo etc. Echo songs are a great way for kids to learn melodies, build their melodic vocabularies and tune their sense of pitch.
