Mark Stoddart is a visual artist, clothing designer, graphic artist, writer who is the founder of Live It Wear it, a wearable art clothing company. His work has been showcased in various art galleries, on the Bravo TV network, and in various high-profile establishments across Toronto Canada. He created the Beloved and Flowers movements, 2 movements to showcase black empowerment and black love. In this episode, we sit down and talk about art, leaving your mark in the world, entrepreneurship, overcoming various challenges, following your dreams, and much more. Here is some of what we talk about in this episode: [3:37] Like you said, liveable art, I have to use that one. I never realized that everything I create is something that's tangible in different mediums. [10:51] I think coming back to my first job from graduating from Sheridan was on textile printing, I always been doing T-shirts at a young age, I always thought that that was the thing that for me can actually express myself was to garments. [13:00] A good friend of mine passed away... And his transition kind of shocked me in a way that something about losing people, you never got a chance to celebrate them. And I thought to myself seeing a funeral, I saw everybody from the community coming to celebrate his life, I thought to myself, This is gonna be my time, I got to do something that I want to do. [16:24] I don't do the gimmicky kind of designs artwork for people to buy into. I'm not that guy. I'm very thought-provoking and attentive, but my intentions are really what I want to create. [22:41] I think I always created this movement from the get go, when I started this Live It Wear It brand. Always wanting to bring the community into that space. [24:09] I thought the language of beloved was something that people were speaking to. And I thought how can I kind of use it for to my benefit of telling the story on what beloved means. [33:52] Somehow I'm able to build real tangible relationships with good people and some influential people. [37:00] There's some things that I am uncomfortable about, but you need to be in the uncomfortable spaces to learn and grow from them. [44:45] It's like a child walking when they fall you say you gotta get back up...You have to understand your worth and your potential. Less then 2 weeks ago things couldnt have been better for Celtics Nation. They had managed to eliminate the defending NBA Champion Toronto Raptors. Fans felt they had just overcome their biggest obstacle in a run to the NBA Finals and now all they had to do was beat the 5th seeded Miami Heat in order to get back to the NBA Finals for the 1st time since 2010. However the Celtics and their fans were brought back down to eart quickly by the Miami Heat after losing games 1 and 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals. 2 losses that resulted in an argument in the Celtics locker room after the game 2 loss and required head coach Brad Stevens to call a private meeting amongst to top players to resolve their issues late that night. The Celtics would get some help in game 3 as Gordon Hayward would return and help the Celtics win the game to pull to within 2 games to 1. However after a 3 day break the Celtics returned in game 4 and returned back to their way of play that cost them the first 2 games of the series and ultimately allowed Miami Heat rookie Tyler Herro to score 37 points in route to a Miami Heat win that put the Celtics on the brink of elimination and facing a challenge that has only been done successfully 13 times prior. To win an NBA Playoff series after falling down 3 games to 1. So did the Celtics get the job done last night in game 5 to get the 1st of 3 straight wins they need to make history as the 14th win to beat this challenge or did they fail and have their season for the 3rd time in 4 years end in the Eastern Conference Finals. We will be joined by 4 guest tonight Josue Pavon (@Joe_Sway on twitter) Celtics/NBA writer for Heavy.com and CLNS. Mike Dynon (@MikeDynon on twitter) Celtics Fan and writer for Redsarmy.com. Andrew Vernon Celtics fan and writer on the Green and White Celtics Fan Blog. Kevin Dixon host of N The Zone Sports Talk Radio.
In this solo episode, I talk about what I've noticed in the mindset of a champion, while this is all what I've seen from the raptors before & after kawhi and how they're mindset changed into the champion mindset & with that the 2019 NBA Champion Toronto Raptors mindset broken down...
The Celtics are just 1 more win from sending the Philadelphia 76ers home from the NBA Playoffs and setting themselves up in a potential matchup with the defending NBA Champion Toronto Raptors. The Celtics after blowing out the 76ers in game 2 by 27 points got put into the toughest matchup of the series thus far. The Celtics in games 1 and 2 got big time performances from their stars Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. However in game 3 the 2 stars struggled causing the Celtics to have to find another away to come up with the win. Enter Kemba Walker and Marcus Smart. The Celtics got some big players from Kemba Walker on the offensive end especially late in the game while Marcus Smart got the job done late on the defensive end to help the Celtics ultimately retake the lead from the 76ers and win game 3 102-94. The Celtics now on Sunday can clinch their trip to round 2 of the NBA Playoffs. Daniel and Igor will discuss the top stories from this game. From the struggles of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown and if its fair to simply give the 2 stars a pass and blame their struggles on the officiating or should they be held more accountable for not having their A game in game 3? Also did game 3 prove once and for all that Celtics fans were wrong to make the claim that the team does not need Gordon Hayward? What about the battle of the bigs is there now a reason to be concerned seeing that the Celtics got dominated in the battle of the rebounds giving up 20 offensive rebounds to a team that has only 2 bigs that get played knowing that the next round of the playoffs will feature a Toronto team that has more bigs then that? Plus more we will be joined by Nick Gelso who is the owner of CLNS Radio. Andy Vernon who is a lifelong Celtics Fan and Sports Blogger.
