Tune in to glean more insights!Episode Highlights: 08:28 - We think because we're in a B2C business that we need to market to the end consumer, and what that oftentimes looks like is you have a large database of prospective clients and you realize that what you've always been taught is it's a numbers game. Just go through the numbers and if you talk to enough people, out the other side will come some opportunities. And so we wear out ourselves out talking to everybody playing the numbers game. 10:52 - If you treat now this professional as your client and really do a discovery conversation to say, "Where are you at? Where are you headed? What's your plan to get there? What obstacles might be getting in your way?" And then you go to work to add value to that business owner. Number one, that creates a lot of trust and credibility and they want you in their business now. 16:16 - I do think that you need to get clear on what are my life experiences that have really positioned me to serve people in a unique way and maybe focus on that life event and just ask yourself the question of who are the other professionals that are serving either at the same time or just before you that are upstream.ContactHeather Price ConsultingJustin StoddartLinkedInEmailInstagramBook: The Upstream ModelPodcastWebsite

The Stoddart family thought nothing of letting 16 year old Cassie pet sit at her Aunt's house for the weekend. After all, Cassie had always been a trustworthy and responsible young lady. What no one knew, not even Cassie, was that the company she had recently been keeping were not. She and her boyfriend, Matt, had friended two classmates that had a rather dark obsession with horror movies and mass shootings. Little did Cassie know when she invited Brian Lee Draper and Torey Michael Adamcik to her Aunt's home to watch movies that her life would literally turn into a real life version of Scream. That is, until they took it from her. Tune in as Savannah gives us an inside look at these copycat killers and their disturbingly grandiose belief that they would go down in history as some of the world's most prolific murderers. Meanwhile, Elysia gives a lot of head shakes, eye rolls and points out the narcissistic elephant in the room when some of the parents expect their murderous son to get off the hook. And because there's enough business for everybody, we share best practices with the intention of helping each other succeed. Justin Stoddart is CEO of ProInsight, a platform that helps real estate agents integrate our services with other professionals, collaborating to improve our value proposition and better serve our ideal clients. Justin is also the author of The Upstream Model: Hidden Secrets to Building a Massive Referral Business While Crushing Big Tech Competitors. On this episode of The Portland Real Estate Podcast, Justin joins hosts Joe Fustolo and Steve Nassar to offer his take on the hottest topics in the Masters Facebook group over the last few months. Justin, Joe and Steve discuss what to do when a buyer wants to represent themselves and explain the benefit of a less-is-more approach to public comments on RMLS. They weigh in on how to handle big repair addendums, agent-accompanied showings, and clients who call you for a listing appointment—and then post their home on a FSBO site. Listen in to understand why so many REALTORS are struggling in the first half of 2023 and learn why it's better to adopt an abundance mindset and move forward with the idea that we're all in this together. Key Takeaways The work Justin does with ProInsight to help professionals integrate their services What to do when a buyer wants to represent themselves and save BAC Why we question the credibility of out-of-state recommendations provided by so-called referral clubs How to avoid scams that target real estate professionals and other service providers The benefit of a less-is-more approach to public comments on RMLS Why it's bad form to slam another agent for saying they're a neighborhood expert in what you think of as your community Why big repair addendums are back and who's responsible for handling them Why it's usually better to credit a buyer for repairs vs. try to get the work done before close How most REALTORS feel about agent-accompanied showings The pros and cons of offering to lead a tour vs. giving buyer's agents the option to do a walkthrough on their own in an accompanied showing What to do when a client calls you for a listing appointment but also lists on a FSBO site Why 92% of REALTORS have sold fewer than 4 homes in the first half of 2023 How to adjust your strategy to succeed in the current housing market Connect with Justin ProInsight Justin on LinkedIn Justin on Instagram Connect with Joe Soldera Properties Joe on LinkedIn Connect with Steve Steve's Team at Premiere Property Group Steve on LinkedIn Resources Masters in Real Estate Facebook Group The Upstream Model: Hidden Secrets to Building a Massive Referral Business While Crushing Big Tech Competitors by Justin Stoddart Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson

Formula 1 loves a feel-good story and the Minardi fairy-tale is no exception. They wrote one of the most heart-warming chapters in the sport's history. Mark Webber's fifth-place finish on his debut at the Australian Grand Prix in 2002 is one of many fond memories cherished by former team boss Paul Stoddart. A year earlier, Paul wasn't even sure they'd be quick enough to qualify for the first race. But his confidence in a 19 year-old Fernando Alonso was rewarded and the team started life in F1 much better than expected. Paul tells Tom Clarkson the moment he realised Alonso had what it takes to become a World Champion, why the Spaniard still has that burning desire to compete at the very top and how to be his best at Aston Martin. Paul also remembers Michael Schumacher's manners and the eye-opening time he lapped Ferrari's test track with the seven-time champion. Plus, how Max Verstappen's winning mentality was clear to see at a young age, when he raced his father Jos in a simulator. Kim Stoddart is an expert on this and writes for publications such as The Guardian on climate change gardening and resilient gardening. She has columns in several UK magazines and contributes regularly to a range of publications, such as Gardeners' World magazine, Bloom, The Telegraph, The Lancet, and The Daily Express, where she regularly provides climate and gardening advice. Sally Morgan is a botanist and gardener and is the editor of Organic Farming Magazine. She's written articles and books on food, farming, and the environment and owns an organic farm where she teaches courses on small farming (empirefarm.co.uk).
