It's getting harder and harder to update you on my own Carfagno Cleaning when every time I go to lunch with Total Life Freedom Philly, the lunch gets paid for with varying level of mystery. In the last installment, "Audio Alibis", the "Benevolent Benefactor" of lunch #3 was revealed. We already know that the Pastor aka John Stange paid for lunch #1 and the prestigious Law Firm of Carfagno & Carfagno had to file the second lunch into the cold case files as "Unsolved Mysteries". The TLF Philly bunch met up for lunch #4 this week. I will report exactly how it went down. But first, let me give a short update on my other business, Carfagno Cleaning.I've shared our family dream and how our cleaning business fits into it, in the episode  "Two Questions to Grow Your Network". Just to refresh you, I've been solo cleaning for 17 years. I teach how to optimize your solo cleaning business. I optimized my first solo cleaning business in New York to $55,000 profit on 2 days per week cleaning, then I sold it for $80,000. I grew another solo cleaning business in the Philly Area from 2019 to now. This one is earning me $70,000 profit on 2 days per week of cleaning. I have precedent and could sell it again. I could keep doing it and be happy with that type of profit and schedule. Or, I could delegate and scale with employees. What's the right answer? It's simple really. Start with Why as Simon Sinek would say. Our Why is time, money, and location freedom so our family can create more memories together locally and visit all 50 states for our homeschool. Our near term dream is a month-long trip to the Gulf Coast of Florida in February when it's cold in PA. How can I make that happen? We would need money saved up to pay for the trip and we'd need to delegate our cleaning business as selling it by February is not an option. As I think this through more, we need to increase our revenue by $5,000 per month to account for the cost of employees and to have enough cash for the trip. That's it! We need to increase our overall corporation by $5,000 per month. Our corporation, Carfagno Cleaning has two businesses. One is the local Philly-based cleaning company that I've been updating you about throughout this podcast. The other is the Smart Cleaning School, which is what you're listening to right now! I can add $5,000 revenue monthly through increased cleaning and / or increased paid clients in Smart Cleaning School. It's that simple. In 2021, I am pushing hard to increase revenue in Smart Cleaning School and Carfagno Cleaning, while hiring and training to delegate the cleaning. Remember Your Why - Our actions are most natural and pure when they come from who we are and not from something we "ought to" or "should" do. Our "why" is the reason we follow Jesus. It's the reason we Go, make time, listen, and deliver excellence. Remember when someone asks, we want to be able to say honestly and authentically, "I'm doing this because I follow Jesus." Ask God to give you integrity in this area. Integrity simply means being pure. We've been reading this story all week. On the Marketplace Mission Trip, we want to be people who genuinely serve others because we follow Jesus. There is no room for manipulation or spin. Either we are serving Jesus or we're not. Our Why is our motive. If our heart is in the right place, we will get chances to join Jesus. And our actions will flow from who we are. In Luke 10:35, it says this man gave 2 day's pay to the innkeeper. We work about 200 days a year. So he took 1 percent of his annual income. Would your "Why" motivate you to do to that length for someone you don't even know or will never see again?   Today, I hope we remember our why. Everything we have has been given to us. If we try to hang on to it, we lose it. But if we give it away so that others find Jesus, we send it on ahead. Ask God how he wants you to line your life up with the idea that all we have comes from him. Jesus asks "Which of the 3 proved to be the neighbor?" Will we be the neighbors? Will we be involved with the people at work enough for them to see us as neighbors, or will we run back to our church and suburb every chance we get. Consider the people you see every day and ask God how he would have you live? If he wants you to change, do it. Trust him and watch him work. And then, one day, someone will ask, "Why would you do something like this for me?" Then you'll get to give that answer you practiced. Then you'll sense the joy we get from God when we walk with him. Then we will experience this unified, integrated life and faith. This is great joy and a wonderful opportunity.

I am believer in that everyone has something to offer. You just have to be willing to explore. Sarah and I went ALL IN a few years ago with our business idea. Gossip is the antithesis of unity… I can't tell you that I know each and everything that's happening in the office. But my team knows my stand on gossip. What is your Why and how did you find it? Our purpose statement is different from our mission and vision. Our Why statement is we exist because the world is underserved by digital marketing companies. There are some out there that are not good, not outright, and even go as far as scamming companies. There is a huge gap that is yet to be filled by digital marketing companies. We exist because of that gap. We want to serve the world, in the best way we can, through digital marketing. My Why is directly related to my identity. I am a child of God and we have a mission. That is to go out and make disciples of all nations. It's not easy to influence millennials. We're not all Christians in SEO Hacker. We hire any and all kinds of people with different beliefs. It's just that one of the things that I want very much to happen is for them to get to know the Lord. That will always be my Why. How I will be able to do that is dependent on where God has called me. Right now, God has called me to be a businessman, an entrepreneur, and a voice in the Philippine startup market. People will not listen to you if you're not good at what you're called to be doing. You'll just be another person with an opinion. People will criticize you. Society will tell you to become successful. But when you are successful in a way, people are going to criticize you. What I realized is that you should just go the path that you're called to and don't pay any mind to the critics. There have been so many times when I heard voices from critics all around. If I let it get to me, then I wouldn't be here today. You have to realize that you've been fighting a worthy fight. There is a reason why you exist. It's your choice to allow what they say to get into your heart or not. Unity is an important thing. How do you plan to keep everyone unified while still maintaining professionalism in the workplace? First, we have to educate them on the five enemies of unity. The first enemy is gossip. It is the antithesis of unity. With it, you can never have unity in your team. It breaks down trust. Without trust, you cannot have unity. I can't tell you that I know each and everything that's happening in the office. But my team knows my stand on gossip. It's an everyday fight. You have to make an effort to keep these things at bay because if you let your guard down, these things will really wreak havoc within your team. The second thing I really don't like is unresolved conflict. If there are people between teams that don't see eye-to-eye, have bitterness in their hearts. They might even go as far as to sabotage each other's output. When that happens, both you, your clients, and your shareholders will suffer. This can lead to letting go of people just because you're not making enough revenue. When you know something is happening between two members of your team, get them in a room and act as a mediator in their alignment. I don't require my people to become friends, even outside of work. What I require is that they respect one another. The third enemy of gossip is sanctioned incompetence. If you tolerate incompetence in your team, they will follow suit with it—creating more mediocre output. They will hate you for it because you're protecting a donkey, while you let your stallions suffer, or worse, leave. You'll lose loyalty and your unity will breakdown. Our WHY is now coming into play, this is going to give our GOALS  direction   We should have two main goals at all times.   An overarching ultimate goal and the current year goal. This may sound counterproductive at first like chasing two rabbits end with none. But in this case these two are mutually beneficial yin and yang   A simple example is a blog and a blog post you have the main carrier the blog but it’s the blog post that makes it viable you can't have one without the other both are necessary for the other.   Everything  you do moving forward needs to lead to both of these goals.   What is that you really want? Be honest with yourself. This is your chance to create exactly the type of lifestyle.   I wanted to be a hair stylist until I realized that was not the life I really wanted. A business that is solely dependent on my singular abilities, plus crazy hours and crazier client expectations! No thank you.   Why is it important to you?  Keeps you up at night.   Why is it important to the person you want to serve?   This is important because these answers are going to drive our decisions with the goals and objectives we set in our strategic planning exercise.   Links: SMART Goals
