From Battlefield to Breakthrough: Jared Ogden's Mission to Revolutionize Training   In this week's Team Never Quit episode, Marcus & Melanie welcome Jared Ogden, CEO of Triumph Systems and former U.S. Navy SEAL, to the show. Jared's remarkable journey from leading missions in Afghanistan to leading one of the most innovative training companies in the country is a story of resilience, vision, and transformation. Drawing from real-world tactical experience, Jared created Triumph Systems and the Brass Training System with a singular goal: to enhance the training and preparation of military and law enforcement personnel. In this episode, Jared shares how instinctual decisions made during deployments shaped his approach to developing cutting-edge training tools that emphasize life-saving decision-making under pressure. He reflects on his transition from being the "arrow" on the battlefield to becoming the "archer" — equipping today's warriors with the tools they need to succeed. Jared also discusses how Triumph Systems bridges the gap between elite training and accessibility, offering solutions that don't require massive budgets or facilities. If you're passionate about leadership, innovation, or serving those who protect us, you won't want to miss this inspiring conversation with a true trailblazer who's changing the future of tactical training. In This Episode You Will Hear: • My parents encouraged the kids to find what they're interested in, to be productive and to live a productive, rewarding life. (5:50). • The more you can overlap what you're interested in, and what you're good at, with what someone will pay you to do, the more successful you will be. (6:05) At a very early age, I knew what I wanted to do when I grew up. I knew that I wanted to be a Navy SEAL. (7:26) • I was the honor graduate for my Leatherneck class. (22:49) • I was yelling at people, and barking out things and orders. Dan walked up to me nonchalantly and said “Jared, calmness is contagious, just talk.” I'll never forget that. (36:54) • [During the] first turnover op between us and 7, Dan stepped on a pressure plate. Honestly, he should've died that day, but there was a tremendous effort [to help him]. (37:23) • Do the right thing. In that case, the right thing landed me in a spot on this television show for 2 seasons. (48:08) • We gotta figure out who we're gonna take. Problem is there's no targets, nothing to shoot. So, we take water bottles, piss in them, put ‘em on a fence. And the first handful of guys, commandos, that could shout those from 50 yards – those are the guys that rolled with us. (52:14) • I'm a warfighter. I'm not an engineer. But along the journey I met some guys who were product engineers. [We developed] a recreational division and a government division – making turning target systems and other targets and software, making people more proficient with their firearms. (53:33) • Decision-making is one of the most important metrics of people who carry firearms professionally. (61:23) • The one common ingredient that I have for everything that I've done in my life is to do your best. Talk Back to MeI find it unabashedly funny when people argue passionately over what they should or shouldn't train, especially when we all know neither party is practicing what they preach. The drama over such low hanging fruit cannot be allowed to go to waste, so in this episode we are addressing one formula for ensuring that you're excellent at the fundamentals, and capable in rare, but potentially disastrous situations. The 80/20 rule applies to more than just training, but in this case we are looking at it in a more narrow sense to improve the little time that we do have to get more done. Use Code 2025deaddrop10 for 10% off your order at obsidianarms.comThis episode has been sponsored by Obsidian Arms, a manufacturer of tools, parts and firearms, as well as operating as an OEM shop for those looking to bring excellence to the market. If that were the case, wouldn't we seen more capabilities opening up for the discerning citizen? We've come a long way, but where's the limit?Ontology is the philosophical study of being, which deals with categories. In the last 10 years we've seen a great expanse when it comes to self defense training. As much as the internet has re-invented the snake oil salesmen in a digital age, we've also seen more and more examples of good instructors across the greater Gun Culture. Many of those teachers are veterans, who, in their own way, have their own baggage to deal with. And as cathartic as it may be, it's not always appropriate for one to air out dirty laundry mid-course. One example of how this can go wrong, is when the teacher begins talking about a subject as if he were justifying his position to people not in the room. I call this Arguing with Ghosts. Listen in and we'll tackle some of this together.  This episode has been sponsored by Obsidian Arms, a manufacturer of tools, parts and firearms, as well as operating as an OEM shop for those looking to bring excellence to the market. He is a nationally recognized expert in suspect tactics and perimeter containment and is a sought-after tactical trainer. As you will quickly learn from his experience, he is uniquely qualified to instruct and write on perimeter containment, search techniques, tactics used by suspects, use of force, and a wide variety of aircrew topics. Schonely has participated in over 2,000 perimeter containments during his career, and he has seen many successes and failures. He has shared his experience with thousands of law enforcement officers across the world instructing on this topic. He is author of the book Apprehending Fleeing Suspects; Suspect Tactics and Perimeter Containment and has been published in numerous publications relating to this topic. We also get to hear from Lt Clay Lacey, who is currently employed by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS). In 2000, Lacey was specially assigned to the Texas DPS Aviation Operations Division as a task force tactical flight officer where he has worked hundreds of flights and thousands of hours in support of criminal manhunts, surveillance, search-and-rescue, vehicle pursuits, foot pursuits, and airborne use of force.  Lacey developed the Texas DPS technical flight officer (TFO) training program from the ground up and currently serves as a TFO instructor within the unit. Lacey teaches around the world on behalf of the Airborne Public Safety Association and individual law enforcement units seeking additional specialized instruction, authors equipment procurement and bid specifications for the Texas DPS, and serves as a consultant for companies conducting large-scale emergency management and preparedness planning throughout the United States. Last but not least is Minx, the owner of Tactical Flying. Minx manages day-to-day operations while playing an active role in training and development. A sworn officer for nearly 20 years with San Diego Police Department, Minx was assigned to SDPD's Air Support Unit as a TFO in 2012, and has since become certified as a helicopter pilot. He has over 3,000 combined hours working both seats in an aircraft, and continues to hone his skills as a tactical operator and a cooperative member of an aircrew. In particular, Minx has always been fascinated by the study of suspect behavior. Using incident videos and forward-looking infrared (FLIR) finds, he compiles data to track patterns of movement in fleeing suspects, and applies this information toward the continuous improvement of techniques and training in suspect searches. As part of Tactical Flying, Minx has provided instruction to tactical flight operators in both domestic and international settings, with clients ranging from military and law enforcement officers to federal agencies. These great gentlemen are all also co-hosts on The Hangar Z Podcast, so look out for episodes where they share their knowledge and passion for the industry.Thank you to our sponsors Anodyne Electronics Manufacturing,  Robinson Helicopters

These great gentlemen are all also co-hosts on The Hangar Z Podcast, so look out for episodes where they share their knowledge and passion for the industry.Thank you to our sponsors Dallas Avionics, SHOTOVER and Robinson Helicopters

We train, we prepare, and we hope that we never have to use the skills we've been developing. Yet, sometimes, violence isn't just the answer... it's the only answer. In our latest podcast episode, "Master of Violence," we delve into a topic that often lingers in the shadows of our thoughts: Do we have what it takes? For many of us, the line between training for a lethal encounter and facing the stark reality can be a source of nagging self-doubt.Let's be honest; unless you're in the military or law enforcement, most of us don't have jobs where violence comes as part of the job description. So, how do we reconcile the skills we hone with the stark possibility that, one day, we might need to employ them? This episode is not about glorifying violence; it's about addressing the questions we often whisper to ourselves. Can we truly prevail in a lethal encounter? Will our training translate into effective action when it matters most?Join us as we explore the psychology, training, and ethical considerations surrounding the mastery of violence.
