"TELL ME ABOUT THE LONELINESS OF PODCASTING, HE-MAN..." Alan and Rob are joined once again by friend of the podcast & Caped Wonder Europe's own Martin Lakin to take another sneaky look under the counter at the movie stash behind the bar at Bibbo's ‘Ace o' Clubs'. This time they examine Cannon's 1987's classic, ‘Masters of the Universe' starring Dolph Lundgren and Frank Langella, the movie based on the classic 80's Mattel toyline of the same name. Hear about the dramatic behind the scenes turmoil which caused the production to shut down mid shoot, why exactly the film so negatively effected Superman IV and most importantly the origins of PIGBOY!!! Is this picture the closest we ever got to a Christopher Reeve era New Gods film? You'll have to tune your cosmic key to the All Star Superfan frequency to find out! FOR ETERNIA Official Podcast - Masters of the Universe Podcast
Come celebrate the 35th Anniversary of the 1987 live-action film “Masters of the Universe” with us, in the latest episode of the FOR ETERNIA Official Podcast! This time, join AJ with special guest Co-Host Richard Szponder as they commemorate this classic film's 35th Birthday, as well as delve into Richard's contest entry back in 1986 that immortalized him in the role of the character Pigboy! (We also discuss the character's appearance in “Masters of the Universe: Revelation” as well.)
As my birthday approaches, my husband suggests a really nice dinner. I (half) jokingly respond with, “New choice!” He ups the ante to a theme park visit. I quickly respond with, “New choice!” Then he says, “How about we go to Japan?” I am ALL IN on that idea. You know you've found the love of your life when you and your spouse play improvisation games in normal conversation. (Well, that or you've been doing Improv for a long time). My guest, Rick Hall, also knows all about Improv. He's an actor, writer, and great storyteller himself (as you'll discover with the many enthralling stories he shares on the show today). If you want to know: Why choose to sing a story as opposed to just talking it out? AND Why does it better benefit your story to be more ruthless in your editing? Then you'll enjoy my discussion with Rick as we dip our toes into the world of musical Improv and storytelling lessons from growing up in a small town, including the importance of cutting off the fat and removing distractions in your stories. What you will learn in this episode: How to edit your story to include only what belongs How stories can change over time while the core still remains How to pull a life lesson out of a story Who is Rick? You may recognize Rick Hall. He's an actor, writer, and storyteller who has appeared on stage and in commercials, movies, and TV Shows. He's graced audiences with his presence on shows like 24, Arrested Development, Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm, NCIS, and The Middle. Rick has a passion for writing and telling original stories. He developed many of these stories into his award-winning independent short film “Slice of Pie” and a one-man show called “Pigboy”. Currently, he coaches storytellers and helps ministers hone their sermon delivery skills. You can listen to his stories on his podcast and visit his website for more information. Well, if you've ever wondered how I got the nickname -Pigboy-, here you go. Disclaimer: There are some basic details about working at a meat packing plant. It's not too graphic. You can handle it.

This is a story from my one-man show, “Pigboy”. We’ve all had wise, sage people who’ve helped shape our lives. Sometimes that person is not a traditionally recognized source of philosophical advice. For me, it was the driver of the dead animal truck that came to our farm… yep, he’s a real guy.

The Formless One, who stole Christmas", Gordon Volkmer.
