What better way to start off the new year than with chaos only rivaled by that of the real world? Gremlins 2: The New Batch is one of the most anarchist sequels to ever exist, and Max, Liz, and Host Spencer try to parse through this movie with enough decorum to make Brainy Gremlin proud. As is the running joke in this episode, THIS. MOVIE. HAS. EVERYTHING: A 24 hour yogurt shop, Science Twins, Gomez Addams trying to fix a water fountain, a vegetable gremlin, and an opening sequence literally taken from Superman IV... and that is not even 10% of the zaniness.
We were incredibly saddened by the loss of 1st Assistant Director and producer, Adam Somner. You can hear his fantastic energy, enthusiasm and entertaining storytelling as a guest on The Cinematography Podcast. Here we have re-posted his 2021 episode in memorial and tribute to his blockbuster career. He will be greatly missed. The job of the assistant director is to work in concert with the director and the DP to get everything done on a movie set. As a 1st AD, Adam Somner is trusted by the industry's top directors to anticipate their needs, motivate the crew, figure out the schedule, and drive the entire production forward to finish each day on time. He finds the best way to keep everything moving smoothly on set is though humor, high energy and uniting everyone as a group, persuading people to do things on the schedule and timeline needed to complete the job. Adam's father, Basil Somner, worked for MGM Studios in England, and through him, Adam got a job as a runner/production assistant at age 17. He began working on movies in the late '80's, like Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Superman IV, and Who Framed Roger Rabbit? He worked under many assistant directors, observed how they took charge on set, and decided he was really interested in becoming an AD. Adam has worked on eight Ridley Scott films to date, as well as several of the late Tony Scott's films. He was first hired on a Ridley Scott film as a third assistant director on 1492: Conquest of Paradise and White Squall, then moved up to second assistant director on Gladiator, (with DP John Mathieson) where he learned how to manage a huge crew of extras and background action from the 1st AD, Terry Needham. On Black Hawk Down, Adam was promoted to first assistant director for the second unit. Black Hawk Down was shooting in Morocco, and the second unit was responsible for most of the helicopter sequences, with lots of moving parts and extras, involving real Black Hawk helicopters and real U.S. military soldiers. After Black Hawk Down, Adam got the call to begin working with Steven Spielberg on War of the Worlds, where he quickly learned to read Spielberg's mind and keep an eye on the details. He's worked with Spielberg on ten films now, including Munich, Lincoln, and Ready Player One. A 1st AD is responsible for coordinating most of the background action. Adam's ability to work on big sets with lots of action, extras and special effects led director Paul Thomas Anderson to hire him for There Will Be Blood, and Anderson has since become a personal friend. Adam finds Anderson's on-set approach to be very thoughtful and measured. Unlike the action-heavy films Adam has worked on, he knew it was important to keep the crew and background actors quiet and subdued on Anderson's films with heavy dialog, such as The Master and Phantom Thread. For The Wolf of Wall Street, Adam was thrilled to work with director Martin Scorsese. Scorsese and cinematographer Rodrigo Prieto had Adam sit in during their preproduction shotlisting process, so they were all thoroughly prepared. Scorsese loves shooting scenes with complex background action, and Adam delivered. He carefully rehearsed all the extras in different stages of panic as the brokers watched the stock market crash. For the famous in-flight orgy scene, Adam wasn't totally sure how he wanted to deal with not just one sex scene, which is hard enough, but several at once. So he decided to hire a choreographer to help rehearse and plan all the action, making sure each background player knew exactly what they were doing and taking care that everyone was comfortable with their role in front of the camera. Adam was excited to work with Alejandro González Iñárritu on some of Birdman, and as the 1st AD on one of the may units shooting The Revenant, where Iñárritu and the DP Emmanuel Lubezki “Chivo” wanted everything shot and rehearsed during magic hour. Rehearsals were incredibly important on both Birdman and The Revenant...

Despite the critical success of some of these offerings, and some high-profile wins and nominations, none of these films were financially successful thanks to Cannon's hapless marketing strategies and their bad reputation within the film industry (including staggering money losses, a shareholder revolt and an SEC investigation into their accounting practices). Cannon would file for bankruptcy by the end of the eighties. We discuss 5 of these prestige projects: the dark journalism thriller Street Smart (which Cannon financed for Christopher Reeve in exchange for starring in Superman IV and the film that put Morgan Freeman on the map), Andrei Konchalovsky's masterful Runaway Train (the best film the studio ever made) and his followup, the American gothic drama Shy People (an award winner at Cannes which vanished without a trace), Nicolas Roeg's Castaway (the film Oliver Reed was promoting the night he almost beat up David Letterman), and Barbet Schroeder's black comedy about alcoholism Barfly with Mickey Rourke and Faye Dunaway. The fourth and final Christopher Reeve Superman movie finds him battling nuclear weapons and Nuclear Man! Gene Hackman returns for the movie that killed the Superman franchise for nearly twenty years. Even with Christopher Reeve himself contributing to the story, the presence of Jon Cryer and Mariel Hemingway, the movie suffers from an inconsistent tone and crazy plot choices. Is there anything redeeming about this movie at all? Check out what the guys think and let us know what you think of Superman IV: The Quest for Peace! Cinema Heroes YouTube Instagram
"What a brilliant future we could have. And there will be peace – there will be peace when the people of this world want it so badly that their governments will have no choice but to give it to them. I just wish you could all see the Earth the way that I see it. Because when you really look at it, it's just one world." DJ Nik from the Happiness in Darkness podcast (and way more!) joins Case and Jmike to talk about the final movie in the Christopher Reeve series.
Welcome to the first episode of It All Comes Back to Superman Series Two, the pretty much the same, not really all that new reaffirmation of my Kryptonian faith. I am your host, Michael Bailey, and this time out I am starting a two part series celebrating Superman's 85th anniversary because...I really want to. It's just that simple. For this first installment I do an off the cuff solo episode where I talk about six of the sub-anniversaries happening during Superman's 85th. Superman The Movie, Superman III, the Ruby Spear Superman animated series, the live action Superboy series, Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, and Man of Steel all have big anniversaries this year and I thought it would be fun to go through them all in one shot instead of devoting specific episodes to them for...reasons. Various reasons. Reasons I go through during the episode itself. I mentioned during the episode that I had done a commentary for Superman The Movie back in 2013. That was on episode 153 of Views From The Longbox, which I don't have a handy link to...sadly...because the post with the show notes for that episode no longer exists. Views is readily available on just about all podcatching services, so it should be easy to find. For those interested, episode 155 of Views was a commentary for Superman II and episode 162 was the commentary for Superman IV that I did with Scott Gardner. Not to be outdone, if you search for episode 135 of the Palace of Glittering Delights where Andy Leyland had me on to yak over the "coherence cut" of Superman IV. Feedback for It All Comes Back To Superman Series Two can be sent to itallcomesbacktosuperman@gmail.com. You can subscribe to the show on Apple Podcasts/iTunes or stream it through Spotify and Audible. The Fortress of Baileytude Podcasting Network is on Patreon. It's mostly a tip jar as I have no time at the moment to produce exlcusive content, but if you like the content I do produce please consider contributing a dollar a month. The opening and closing theme to the show is titled Journey and was composed by Pontus Rufelt. It is licensed from Shockwave-Sound. Next Time: The second part of Happy Anniversary, Superman!

Technically the first ever quadruple-bill episode (if you also count the Richard Donner cut of Superman II, which we do), as voted for by Patrons of this podcast for, on the history and legacy of Episode Title ! The sequels to the previous episode on SupermanSUPERMAN II was inevitable after Richard Donner completed 75% of the movie, filmed at the same time as Superman (1978). His work on the sequel was halted during Superman's production, but as Superman flew into the box office and became a critical and financial success, the sequel was fired up again... and Donner himself was unceremoniously fired from the movie by the Salkinds, and replaced with Richard Lester; a move that didn't go down well with the cast and crew... SUPERMAN II: THE RICHARD DONNER CUT came about due to the open secret of Richard Donner's material existing in a vault somewhere. After a few legal issues, notably with the estate of Marlon Brando for the production of Superman Returns, a new 2001 DVD version of Superman also led to the discovery of 6 tonnes of unused, previously lost material shot by Richard Donner for Superman II. In an unprecedented (at the time) fan campaign to see Donner's cut, it was finally released to acclaim in 2006...SUPERMAN III is less of a Superman movie, and more of a comedy vehicle for the late, great Richard Pryor, but that didn't mean it was easy to get made. A lot of people were still annoyed at the Salkinds for their treatment of Richard Donner, including Christopher Reeve himself. Reeve almost didn't return as the iconic character, but changed his mind and relished playing Superman vs Superman (which was also almost the title of the movie), but in retrospect it would be a movie he wouldn't have too much fun with, despite the slapstick tone... SUPERMAN IV: THE QUEST FOR PEACE would only be made after the Salkinds sold the rights to The Cannon Group; a production company known for making low quality movies en masse to make as much profit as possible. Cannon's plan though was big franchises: they bought Superman with the intent of spending $36 million on Superman IV. They were also making Masters of the Universe, the first big screen adventure for He-Man. But Masters of the Universe's financial woes would drastically affect Superman IV, with disastrous consequences for the Superman franchise, and leading to a 19-year wait for Superman to return...I would love to hear your thoughts on Superman II, Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut, Superman III & Superman IV: The Quest for Peace !CONTACT.... EPISODE 13: What Kills You Only Makes You Stronger - “It's a little 1991 Wesley Snipes.”Greetings Super friends! Welcome to Superman & Lois & Pals. I'm Henry Bernstein and alongside me is my favorite super pal, Professor Sam Brody. Thoughts on My Adventures with Superman?Nervous about a rumor that next season they're taking away Superman's powers cuz they have no budget for high level special effects. My experience meeting Bitsie Tulloch and Tyler HoechlinLet's talk about Superman & Lois Season 3, Episode 13S03E12 - Directed by:Gregory SmithWritten By:Brent Fletcher and Todd HelbingThe Apple TV Recap is: All of Smallville comes together to view the meteor shower, Lex Luthor makes his move.“What will Lex Luthor do next?”Haha Jordan doesn't have plans for the summer. Kyle and ChrissyDiving right into the pregnancy right away. Never heard of protection in 2023? Anyway, I'm happy for them if they're happy. Especially cuz we'll pretty much never see them next season.Love how happy Lois and Clark are for Chrissy. Very sweet. Also very sweet that we got a little tv season finale, romantic gesture, proposal. John Henry and Nat and LanaI like how Lana was straight up and direct with John Henry about a date. Btw, I didn't realize this but in a recent backup story in Action Comics it was said that John Henry and Lana are engaged! Cool to see something carry over from the New 52 that was good.John Henry and Nat could open STEELWORKS! As if that's something they've been talking about all season, which they haven't but we know about it. I like how Lana and John Henry were having a pretty heavy conversation to start things off. That seems real for two adults who have past relationships and children etc. “Guess I'm gonna have to make you wish you weren't.” This is the Emmanuelle Chriqui I remember ;-) Lois and ClarkI love that Lois is back. That was a really rough season but powerful. And Clark is just so great. I'm glad there's at least another season left cuz I'm not ready to say goodbye yet. Love the family vaca in Italy. “It's been a tough year,” no shit Clark.I like that the Lane Kents get together for dinner at the diner. It's cute. “Oh Dad: One, Jordan: ZeroUgh Jordan is soooooooo rude to Sarah. I hate that. Little prick. Glad Clark fixed that. Lex Luthor and his planStraight up killing the judge. This is some scary Byrne/Ordway/Stern Luthor shit. I knew something was up with Sam's very sexually aggressive hookup. Well glad Bizarro didn't eat Otis. Love love love that they did the actual origin of Doomsday from Hunter/Prey but made it in Metropolis with Luthor. It's sort of like what Luthor always wanted in the comics: To be the one who made Doomsday. And what a great way to combine Luthor/Bizarro/Doomsday all into one thing. Really creative. Taking things that have been done and finding new ways to do them. The Way Luthor talks to Bizarro reminds me of how he talked to Doomsday's dead body in Funeral for a Friend. Luthor's a fucking psychopath Hearing Luthor insult Superman “lap dog in a cape” is just so classic. Cudlitz kinda nailed it in a short period of time. What did you think of Doomsday's final form? What did you think of the final battle? I thought kinda better than a lot of final CGI battles in MCU movies. Like as recently as secret invasion. The look Superman gave Lois right before he took off, was it sort of like, “this is the big one. This might be the last time I see you.” And was that a look he's given before? The underwater ice thing was so cool. Throw this fucker into the sun Clark!Very interesting and stylized way to end it with Soundgarden. It's a banger that starts off very soft. It was cool seeing Superman meet his physical match. Like I could see these guys taking each other down right in front of the Daily Planet. On the moon, very reminiscent of Superman IV. Incredible cliff hanger

EPISODE 12: Injustice - “What are you gonna do, a podcast or something?”Greetings Super friends! Welcome to Superman & Lois & Pals. I'm Henry Bernstein and alongside me is my favorite super pal, Professor Sam Brody. Tons of Superman news, specifically Superman and Lois. The good news is Superman and Lois was renewed for Season 4. The bad news was that it was at a great cost. Kind of like the end of a superhero movie. Only 10 episodes and The Cushings, Irons' and Sam Lane were all cut from the regular cast. Sam, what are your thoughts? In larger Superman news, The Flash movie finally came out. I know a lot of things have been spoiled and I'm not in the business of spoiling things, but I will say there are a lot of Superman treats and easter eggs in it. Is it a good movie? I don't think so. But I did enjoy myself. The Batman stuff is really fun. It is a fun theater experience, but since it's doing so poorly it'll probably be out on Max soon. Let's talk about Superman & Lois Season 3, Episode 12S03E12 - InjusticeDirected by:Sudz SutherlandWritten By:Michael NarducciThe IMDB & Apple TV Recap is: Lois and Clark clash with Jordan over his carelessness around using his powers in public. And finally, after seventeen years behind bars, Lex Luthor is set to be released from prison.HENRY's NOTES: There's Clark taking away the computer again. Love that he's washing her hair. So sweet. Injustice is a reference to her losing a part of her bodyI love that they're teeing up Luthor ready to kill Lois and Clark protecting her. Cool Lex music. The idea of Lex in prison for 20 years is so interesting. Love that he gets a nice soft boiled egg for breakfast. Who's the pic? Does he have a daughter? Who's the mom?Who's Janet? Foswell gave the Luthor story to Simone. Who's Simone?Love Clark mouthing “no no” hahaWhoa Lex with hair in the flashback? OTIS! Drops wedding ring but has pic of kid. LOVE Lois' look with the hat. Looks like the Jenny Frison cover from Lois Lane #1.Haha Bazoombas makes another appearance. Why has Bazoombas become a thing? What did you think about all the Alpha Male vs Alpha Male FD thing? Is Kyle being nice to Jonathan because he knows Clark is Superman?Sam Lane - I guess in a world where Superman is the only hero then it IS a big deal that there's another super in Smallville. Yes, they had Kryptonians attack them but another Hero is different. Not sure why.Why is it Jordan's fault that Sarah's having a rough timeWhat do you think about Luthor shaving his head vs having lost his hair at a young age? To paraphrase a quote from Larry David, those who shave their head to cultivate a look are not part of the bald community. I think a Luthor who has lost his hair all the way at a young age or is losing his hair so shaves it is better than a full thick head of gorgeous hair and shaves it. Why did Luthor let his ass get kicked? Mind games? False sense of security?Did you notice that the prison standard issue had the prisoner names on it? Isn't the whole thing about prison is they dehumanize you by giving you just a number? So Otis is not Luthor's henchman but a rival. Cool twist. I like that the Warden is just blatant about being crooked. So was Superman and Lois' Luthor one that had hair? Interesting….Damn this Lex is cold. I kinda love it. Oooooh Tornado in Smallville! Classic Superman Stuff! My first thought was, “will there be an MOS reference to Pa Kent putting his hand up?”Superman vs a Tornado is always good. One of the better parts of Superman IV which was deleted. Can you freeze a tornado?! Do you think you can talk inside a tornado?Haha, who are these idiots standing in front of a window? They've obviously seen a tornado before! Kyle and Jonathan just standing there watching?!Oy Jordan, not good. Doing the whole “I dunno” teenage thing. What was that little power display with Clark? Was Clark trying to grab Jordan and he used his powers to break away?Sam giving the advice of “reign him in” - clearly doesn't understand how teenagers work. I do like how Sam explained the flight path thing. That makes sense.Dean Jr looks like he's 45.Does Jonathan also have a video game system in his room?Oh my god did Lex Luthor walk from Stryker's Island to Smallville?!Oooooh Luthor is SCARY“What I want is to never have to read your words again”“But I wasn't wrong about what you are”Yeah Clark, stand up to that bully!“Don't ever come back” - “Then you'd better retire”“Tell Superman he's next”Ha! Otis is now his henchmanI know head shaving scenes are cool, but well you know how I feel about this. Better shave that beard. Haha I knew his chair would definitely be a person Who's Dr. Hook, who's Orr?YES LEX AND BIZARRO! The way it should be.Going with the Horror version of Bizarro. Eating rats and mutilating Otis. Nice.
Superman IV: The Quest for Peace is the sad end to a beloved series. Well, III was also terrible, but there is something uniquely depressing about Superman IV. Perhaps it's the fact that they coaxed Christopher Reeve into returning by agreeing to center the film on the threat of nuclear escalation; and then as they shot the movie, budget cuts kneecapped the project faster than a speeding bullet. Superman IV was clearly hindered by Cannon's frugal ways, but it's a bizarre and poorly written film, as well. The movie's central antagonist Nuclear Man has the look of a compelling villain, but his voice was dubbed with Gene Hackman's. A move that truly put the f%*$ in WTF. Couple that with shoddy special effects, a nonsensical love triangle, and a B-plot seemingly taken from an never produced episode of the George Reeves show and you've got one of the more notorious superhero movies ever made. Hence, why it bombed with critics and at the box office. Superman IV grossed just $36.7 million worldwide, further worsening the financial woes of Cannon Films. And it's 10% on Rotten Tomatoes is a far cry from even that of III (29%). Reeve, Margot Kidder, and Hackman all deserved so much better, lest we forget Jackie Cooper and Mark McClure. Now, sit back, go nuclear with a Sol Mexican Lager, and broker world peace through a tender hearted letter! I, the Thunderous Wizard (@WriterTLK), Chumpzilla, Capt. Cash, and Bling Blake are fist-fighting some whacko with press-on nails and feathered hair on the Moon! This Week's Segments: Introduction/Plot Breakdown – Nuclear Power. In the best hands, it is dangerous. In the hands of Lex Luthor, it is pure evil. This is Superman's greatest battle. And it is for all of us! Viva Pod Vegas is back, and we've made it to 1965 to talk about Elvis Presley and Shelley Fabares in Girl Happy! Before we dive into the movie, we talk about the teaser trailer for Sofia Coppola's Priscilla, we share some exciting news about Elvis movies on the Criterion Channel, and we read a few more very kind notes from listeners. Then, we pack up and head for Fort Lauderdale to talk about Shelley Fabares filling the Ann-Margret void, the world's oldest college kids, and why the "Do the Clam" dance never caught on. We talk about Girl Happy as a response to Beatlemania, its comparison between the women of Florida and the women of Chicago, and Elvis pulling a Magic Mike and setting off an entire chain of events he has to reckon with. We talk about the greatest Elvis song name in history ("Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce"), Girl Happy becoming a "women in prison" movie, and how to simplify the movie and solve its story issues. We admire Elvis's incredible guessing game, laugh about him pulling a Superman IV, and find ourselves thinking about the Kittyhawks again. We re-adjust how we do the "best song in an Elvis movie" game. We get very, very excited for Tickle Me after we read its plot description.

Alan and Rob are joined once again by friend of the podcast & Caped Wonder Europe's own Martin Lakin to take another sneaky look under the counter at the movie stash behind the bar at Bibbo's ‘Ace o' Clubs'. This time they examine Cannon's 1987's classic, ‘Masters of the Universe' starring Dolph Lundgren and Frank Langella, the movie based on the classic 80's Mattel toyline of the same name. Hear about the dramatic behind the scenes turmoil which caused the production to shut down mid shoot, why exactly the film so negatively effected Superman IV and most importantly the origins of PIGBOY!!! Robocop 3 is the embodiment of when a franchise has creatively exhausted itself. It feels and looks cheap; has nothing new to say; and tones down the series' signature violence to milk the most out of a dwindling audience. For fans of the series, its existence must be heartbreaking. Robocop 3's ineptitude is on par with other disastrous sequels of the era, like Superman IV. That is really all you can say about it. It recycles plot points from the first film and shamelessly calls back to things you loved from that one, as well. Its only novel introduction is a robot ninja assassin, whose fights with Robocop are so painfully slow, you will be tempted to watch them in 2x speed. Thus, Robocop 3's 6% on Rotten Tomatoes should not come as a shock; but you should be dumbstruck to discover that it out-grossed its predecessor. Even with the PG-13 rating, that is astounding. Poor Murphy! Now, sit back, optimize your prime directives with a Screamsickle from Six Point Brewery, and close your eyes during the jetpack scene! We bring you a super-sized episode for the Season 2 Final! We kick things off with some show and tell of some new Super-goodies (shout out to Jim Bowers @capedwonderjim)! We're talking about the vacuum of space, throwing sh** into the sun, Tal-Ro's redemption, what we want to see in Season 3 and so much more! EPISODE 15 ““It's Dad, It's Clark, It's Superman””Let's talk about Superman and Lois Season 2 Episode 15S02E15 - “Waiting for Superman” Directed by:Gregory SmithWritten By:Brent Fletcher and Todd HelbingChrissy Beppo (Sofia Hasmik), with the authorization of the Department of Defense, has a message for the people of Smallville: not only is the merging of planets real, it is happening.HENRY'S NOTES:DOD officially declaring what's happening. Reference to “Bizarro self.” Why is Christy Beppo making this announcement? Lois used the word “blip” - Kevin Feige sending his Disney lawyers after them? This makes sense that Nat is having PTSD from losing her world.Oooh the Loises switched. “Our Bizarro Mom just magically appeared.”Jon saying “You're our family too” and Nat responded with a hug and “I really liked having brothers” is the kind of emotional beat stuff that make the show good. The faux conflicts are not. People disappearing and cars crashing is very reminiscent of Infinity War. Is it too derivative?Tal Ro - “I'm fighting for you. You and your family are the only people that matter to me on this planet” followed by a bro hug. Chef's kiss. Jordan, close your goddamn mouth while you're in space. “You saved my life nephew, i'm forever in your debt”“There's still one person that can stop her, me”YES!!! LOVE WHEN SUPERMAN THROWS SHIT INTO THE SUN!!! Love that he's getting thrown into it. Hahaha why is Nat's AI german? “Frau Irons”HOW ARE SUPERMAN AND TAL-RO TALKING IN OUTER SPACE?!!!!! That's as ridiculous as Superman IV. Nice that Clark says, “I love you too” though. Who are all these people who are like, waiting for the rapture? Are the people of Bizarro Smallville super religious? So one throw away line from Sam confirmed that this is not in the Arrowverse - “and even though we only have your father on this planet.” That's fine but I wish they would've told us earlier so we didn't waste time and energy getting upset about it. I love seeing superman being burned alive while also supercharged up by the sun. Reminds me of Superman #1,000,000.“It's Dad, It's Clark, It's Superman” - Overloading the parasite is a classic Superman move. He's circling the Earths! Like superman the movie!!!!!Love his Supercharged S shield. I don't get the physics of how he did what he did but I like it. Miracle Monday! A reference to both the Elliot S Maggin novel and the day in which Superman saved the world. “Truth Justice and a Better Tomorrow”Oh come on Lois. Now Crissy Beppo knows the secret? Jesus. Love a good Superman festival in Smallville and so cute that kids were cosplaying as Nat and John Henry. Nat and John Henry eating Rhubarb pie, Martha's specialty“With you around, always” - Lois in response to “are you ok?”Kyle's babyface from heel turn was done so smoothly and so well over the past two seasons.“I wish everyone could be as happy as i am”You never stop trying to help people do you? I love you Superman”Why are Ally and Bizarro Ally in the same cell?Uncle Tal buying F-150s for the nephews is amazing. Love that he went to Bizarro world to be their hero. BRUNO MANHEIM - INTERGANG!!!!!! Let's have a season of Clark investigating them. Lucy and Lois made up, which is nice. I wonder where she's going.Clark is finally not wearing his glasses with the family and I love his Chris Evans, Knives Out sweater. Throwing a crystal to make the fortress is very reminiscent of Superman The Movie AND doing it in the ocean is like the comics. Love it all. “It's only the beginning.” Follow us on Twitter @supermanpalspodLeave us a rating and review on Apple Podcasts or the pod catcher of your choice and we'll read it!
We continue our journey through the films of the Canon Group with a deep dive into 1987's Superman IV: The Quest For Peace starring Christopher Reeve, Gene Hackman, and Margot Kidder. This film is a confounding quagmire of bad dialogue, a confusing plot, cheap FX, unenergetic performances, and Jon Cryer. But at least the story of the film's production is fascinating. Plus, we need your help in finding a modern movie that is both less than 2 hours long, and entertaining. As always, if you like what you hear, be sure to subscribe. Enjoy!

Mariel was so much fun and helps the guys preview her appearance at the Christopher Reeve Legacy Reunion in Detroit for Motor City Comic Con. How could one podcast be so square and so delicious?

In this episode Paxton takes a look at the 2nd Superman novelization (following the more adult Part 3) and the first he's dug into in the Scholastic Point series of 80s era junior novelizations! The 1987 novelization was written by B.B. Hiller (who also wrote the Big and first two Karate Kid novelizations) and was part of the 50th anniversary of the character.
The Wolf And The Shepherd discuss some of the worst movies from the eighties, only two of which they have actually seen which would have discouraged respectable researchers, but alas, they soldiered on. From exploding horses, the possibility of Bo Derek's breasts, and the magic of George Lucas, the movies that they reviewed were Heaven's Gate, Tarzan the Ape Man, Bolero, Howard The Duck, and Superman IV the quest for peace.
