We talk to Possimiste about her new album: "Youniverse" BandCamp Link: https://possimiste.bandcamp.com/music www.possimiste.com/youniverse ”Since I was little I have known that that my actual home is somewhere far-far away...and that music is my connection with that home on Sirius*. I have always felt that songs come from “some ethereal space” and this is why I am diving deep into these mysterious matters of Youniverse and want to share it all. I feel like each song that I hear in my dreams is a message from the higher self or universe or whatever you want to call it, which I have to take with me to the reality, either for myself or for others. Music is so much more than just entertainment and it is time for us to finally explore its real essence, being one of the closest things to magic that every human can ever experience. “Youniverse” is a collection of memories from my most meaningful dreams so far and I am excided to start decoding all these messages hidden in these songs with the help of the whole world. It is just the beginning of the journey.” - Possimiste --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/josephine-electric/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/josephine-electric/support

Phantom Electric Ghost Interviews Iceland Singer Songwriter Possimiste The astral -originated Possimiste is finally releasing her award -winning single “Paradise”, that recently received the “Sykurmolinn – Best Song 2020 ” by the Icelandic radio station X977. “Paradise” is a journey towards dreams that all eventually end up in disappointments as the dreams lose their glimmer and reveal their dark side when we get close to them . The first official single out of Possimiste’s mystery filled debut album “Youniverse” is a perfect introduction to the full - length alternative pop record, a dreamer’s journey through time and space . BIO Possimiste is a young artist whose music has often been described as whimsical, fairytale'ish and free-spirited indie pop. Her career launched in 2011 when Possimiste's first single "Behind The Seas" topped the Creative Commons charts making her one of the most downloaded acts in today's CC world. Growing up in Estonia the future singer /songwriter and visual artist spent most of her days in the fantasy world. The latter, endless hikes through home forests and a little bit freaky lullabies she was sung as a kid became inseparable part of Possimiste who started her musical journey when she was a three-year-old girl. Today the young artist has often been named as the founder of fairy-tale pop genre. At only 15 she gave out her first self-produced single and was immediately discovered by Bad Panda Records net label that in 2011 released the second official digital single “Behind The Seas”. With the latter Possimiste won the hearts of many music bloggers, alternative pop lovers and other musical and visual artists. The single itself has until today remained one of the most downloaded Creative Commons songs on the internet with more than 300 000 downloads. After releasing her first EP/story-book “Wanderer” (2013) Possimiste moved to Iceland to focus on writing her (yet unreleased) debut album, an emotional diary of a 21st century’s hippie in search of her roots, real love and “the unexplainable” magical powers the human kind has forgotten about. Explore the ties between language and identity in South Africa with two women who see Afrikaans as the language of reconciliation. Two women in South Africa are currently challenging the assumption that Afrikaans is solely the language of the oppressor. One is a poet. The other runs a community radio station. Through a retelling of the true history of the language and the people who created the language, words arise that begin to break down the ties between language and identity over 20 years post-apartheid: “you can’t blame a language for what a group of people did with it.” Producer: Isaac Goldstein Music: The last offering, Sunhiilow No sudden movements, Rui Magic Torquoise, Sunhiilow Butterfly Lullaby, Possimiste
Last year I lost an entire 90 minute interview with Toronto-based blogger and activist Eiynah. Since then, I’ve bought a separate recorder to ensure I have at least two copies of each interview! Eiynah (@NiceMangos) is back and she talks to me about the first episode of her new podcast, Polite Conversations with Maryam Namazie. It was taken down from Youtube twice for no good reason. Rather Kafkaesque. We touch on how ex-Muslims and moderate Muslims are being silenced by the Western left and popular media. We talk about feminism, too! Pastafarian Isabelle Narayana went to court because she was not allowed to wear her pasta colander while getting her license photograph done at the SAAQ (Quebec DMV). The judge threw out the case, while people of other religions are allowed to wear even more concealing head coverings. In this episode, Isabelle gives some of her story that seems to have been missed by the media. In this episode Fatima Calderon was interviewed about her experience with the spring 2015 SisterStory Project. Fatima worked with Sister Maria Francis. LSP, from Little Sisters of the Poor from Samoa. Fatima learned something that a lot of people struggle with: that being both religious and a feminist aren't contrary to each other. And that knowledge can totally change your perspective. Check out her project page here: https://www.sisterstory.org /oral-history/sister-maria-and-fatima-calderon music by Possimiste: http://freemusicarchive.org/music/Possimiste/ and plusplus freemusicarchive.org/music/Plusplus/ and Silas Hite https://twitter.com/satincowboy Set Apart series art by Rebecca Zenefski. Here's My Secret is a podcast produced by Alicia Beyer about the oral history project SisterStory. Through interviews with student oral historians she learns more about their experiences and the valuable relationships forged between them and their Sister during the semester process. By reading the SisterStory blogs (www.sisterstory.org/student-blog) and personally getting to know each student prior to interviewing, we gain insight through Alicia into how this experience has changed individual lives and evolved perspectives on women religious. SisterStory is the ongoing story of National Catholic Sisters Week aimed at broadening awareness of Catholic sisters through the collection of oral histories, social media outreach, and the creation of additional media content. For more information visit www.SisterStory.org. National Catholic Sisters Week is a celebration of the lives and legacies of Catholic sisters every year from March 8-14 in conjunction with NWHM. If you wish to participate or have events you would like to share please visit www.NationalCatholicSistersWeek.org.
Oskar Schuster's purely instrumental music is at times reminiscent of "Amélie", evoking an atmosphere that reminds one of France, Paris, Valses and musette music. Several times referred to as "the german Yann Tiersen", his music is still very distinct, arising from a mixture of various influences including experimental electronic music (Aphex Twin, Pogo), the minimalist folk-pop of Beirut, the ethereal and mystical sounds of Sigur Rós as well as classical piano music by Robert Schumann and Frédéric Chopin. As a true self-made artist, he not only plays almost all the instruments and produces the music by himself, but also designs the artwork by himself.Schuster's music takes the listener into a world of its own. The soft, muted sound of an old piano mixes with the noises of just as old typewriters, analogue cameras and radios while in the distance you hear a music box playing and a synthesizer creaking. However, Oskar Schuster does not merely fiddle with interesting sounds and noises but creates clearly structured pieces with catchy melodies. Melodies you seem to remember from early childhood days or long-forgotten dreams, at the same time sad and joyful, euphoric and exuberant, nostalgic, thought-provoking and always kind of melancholic. This is called the Justcast because, whilst it may well be late, it is entirely justifiably late, so piss off and stop moaning at me. And come on, stop being coy, I know you're secretly tutting. Or at least I fucking hope you are, because the other option is that you don't really give a fuck, and where would that leave us?So, having worked all through the working week, and then having spent all of Saturday working at Record Store Day stuff, I got to Sunday and was honestly just not up for doing anything at all, sorry. I was pooped. Bushed. Knackered. Tuckered. Done for. So I did fuck all, and I actually felt guilty about this for a while, and then realised that actually, every cunt gets a fucking weekend, so stop feeling sorry for yourself, embrace a day of doing bugger all, and just do the podcast as soon as you can reasonably manage. So there you go.Next week I might do a bit of a podcast on my Record Store Day purchases (and there were many) but not this week, because I haven't had the chance to sit down and listen to them yet. Maybe Thursday that might happen. And/or Wednesday. And then I will waffle on about them on the internet next week, for which I am sure you will all be truly grateful. 01.
