She was a lovely person, and through these accounts, it's not entirely too late to [at least sorta kinda] get to know her! She was my mom's sister's daughter - and if I'm being completely honest, she reminded me more of mom than of aunt Karen. I suppose, in a way, she was the closest thing my brother and I had to a sister. 2) Links to C1E1 and C2E20! I'll upload each this month as reruns. But meanwhile, here is the easiest way to hear them! a) Link to C1E1: https://terraplayer.com/shows/nerd-noise-radio/c1e1-press-start b) Link to C2E20: https://terraplayer.com/shows/nerd-noise-radio/ch-2-nerd-noise-game-club-c2e20-all-good-things Produced using a nearly equal mix of Audacity and Ardour in Fedora Workstation Linux on an ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 (2023) laptop with perhaps a little support from a Dell Latitude 7480 (running Fedora COSMIC Linux), a 2017-spec DIY gaming PC (running Bazzite Linux) or the Steam Deck (running Steam OS Linux). Recorded with a Shure SM7B XLR dynamic microphone on a RØDE PSA1+ boom arm through a Cloudlifter and a Focusrite 4i4 XLR-to-USB interface! The "Episode Proper" portion was recorded using Audacity in Fedora Workstation like the others, but was recorded using an M-Audio MobilePre XLR-to-USB audio interface and an AudioTechnica AT2020 microphone deliberately used improperly in order to emulate my much much poorer production techniques as of 2016. An AT2020 actually failed during this recording. Fortunately, I had a second AT2020, so I was able to finish the recording without substantial variation. The first line recorded with the second AT2020 was "I'm John Wedgeworth – thanks for listening."
A glass half-full mindset for All Blacks coach Scott Robertson after naming a group of six players as injury cover for the start of their Rugby Championship campaign. Uncapped trio Kyle Preston, Leroy Carter, and Tevita Mafileo, along with Finlay Christie, George Bower, and Josh Lord comprise the back-up unit in the 42-strong wider squad. Ahead of their tournament opener in Argentina next weekend, Robertson says injuries are a reality of the game. He told Mike Hosking you never know how things will play out – you could get two or three years with a player, and then two or three injuries in a row. Robertson says that when you get a double break in one position, it provides an opportunity for a less experienced player. He says that you always want your best players, but sometimes it doesn't happen. LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Kyle Preston is someone who deserves every bit of success he gets. His work ethic is unmatched and to hear his journey and how he has stuck to the plan even when he wasn't getting the rewards was truely inspiring. Having had one of the all time great Super Rugby debuts a few weeks ago scoring 3 tries, it was an opportunity for Kyle to show the world he was as ready as he knew he was. Whether it was doing body weight exercises till tears, kicking and passing at the park by himself for 2-3 a day or avoiding all junk food from a young age, Kyle has definitely made plenty of sacrifices to get his opportunity. Some other parts that stood out for me were..Where this drive for Kyle to train like he does come fromHow he handled non selection for being "too small"How hard the juggling of roofing and chasing the professional rugby dream isWhy he decided to move to the Crusaders over his hometown HurricanesKyle clears the air on who is dad really isAnd heaps more!As you'll hear Kyle is committed to being the best player he can be and its clear that he has a huge future ahead of him. I hope you enjoy the episode and if you do please give it a share. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
The Crusaders got off to a winning start. The began the 2025 Super Rugby season with a 33-25 win over the Hurricanes, spurred on by reserve halfback Kyle Preston. Preston was brought on early in the game, replacing the injured Noah Hotham, and proceeding to score three tries. Preston told Elliott Smith he wasn't expecting the hat trick. “I was hoping for one at least on debut, and to get three was, yeah, pretty special.” LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
