Let's start episode 732 of Secrets of Organ Playing Podcast. These questions were sent by Rien and Benas and they write:Maybe you could answer this question in a podcast (referring to Benas): with some pieces you “feel” while practicing that everything comes together. And if you are there, you stay there. Even if you don't play the piece for a while, it still flows (maybe with some light practice) out of your hands in the right way, while other pieces don't seem to “stick”. What's the reason? Not enough practice, wrong practice routines? Or just a mismatch between the piece and performer?Benas:Hi, Rien, that's a very interesting topic You've touched upon - yes, I think some pieces are just inherently "mismatched" with the performer (I've had quite a few when I was learning piano in music school), but after a while I tried revisiting them and often found that the issue was the skill level required to play as well as understand the piece. But some of them just can't seem to be done right no matter how hard You try yet they flow in other performers' hands and feet beautifully - maybe they could offer insight into how they perceive the piece? It surely would be interesting to know all the factors that go into "matching" the performer and the piece of music.Rien:it would be nice if Ausra and Vidas make a Podcast over it. I myself struggle with Toccatas (my brain seems to have troubles with repeating patterns) and with pieces with lots of accidentals. That's the reason I still haven't published “Priere de Notre Dame” by Boellmann. There are lots of accidentals in it. So I prefer a piece written in 5 flats over a piece in F full with accidentals. As Salam aleyki wa rahmatoullahi ma soeur! Cet épisode est le dernier du rappel "la prière au-delà de l'obligation". Je t'explique comment vivre et ressentir ta prière et ne pas juste la faire. Ce fut un plaisir pour oi de rédiger ces rappels, en espérant qu'ils te soient bénéfique et qu'ils t'aideront à savourer pleinement ta prière.Cet épisode est le dernier du rappel "la prière au-delà de l'obligation". Je vais te parler de la prière en tant qu'adoration, de sa beauté et sa splendeur ainsi que des trésors et merveilles qu'elle renferme,  Je vais également te parler de son importance, de comment elle te relie à ton Seigneur et comment pleinement la vivre et la ressentir.

« Qui enverrai-je ? Qui ira pour nous ? Je répondis : « Me voici ! Envoie-moi. » (Esaïe 6.8) Mes fidèles adorateurs iront Qui est prêt à s'engager ? C'est la question que Dieu a posée à Ésaïe lorsqu'il eut une vision du ciel qui changea sa vie. La scène qu'il vit était fascinante et grandiose, Dieu était assis sur un trône « haut et élevé » (Ésaïe 6.1). Sa robe remplissait le temple, tandis que des anges pourvus chacun de six ailes répétaient sans cesse : « Saint, saint, saint est le Seigneur des armées, toute la terre est remplie de sa gloire » (v. 3). Alors que Dieu commençait à parler, les colonnes du temple se mirent à trembler et la fumée remplit la maison. Le spectacle est si majestueux, qu'Ésaïe s'écrie : « Malheur à moi, car je suis perdu ! Car je suis un homme aux lèvres impures, et j'habite au milieu d'un peuple ux lèvres impures ; et mes yeux ont vu le Roi, le Seigneur des armées ! » (v. 5). Peut-on reprocher cette réaction à Esaïe ? Qui peut apercevoir Dieu et ne pas être démasqué ? Ésaïe fut subjugué par la sainteté et la majesté de Dieu, cependant l'Eternel ne vise pas seulement notre étonnement. La révélation de Dieu est généralement suivie d'une demande. Ce fut le cas, par exemple, lorsqu'il donna à l'apôtre Jean, exilé sur l'île de Patmos la vision des événements de la fin du monde et du retour du Christ pour être partagées. De même, lorsque Dieu s'est révélé à Ésaïe, il cherchait un messager prêt à diffuser son message d'amour et d'avertissement. La réponse d'Ésaïe a marqué les esprits au fil du temps : « Me voici ! Envoie-moi » (v. 8). Notre réponse à Dieu Remarquons comment est intervenu pour qu'Ésaïe réponde à son appel. Lorsque Dieu a enlevé son iniquité et l'a purifié de son péché, la réponse d'Ésaïe à la grâce de Dieu a été : « J'irai » (Ésaïe 6.8). En acceptant la mission de Dieu, sa décision a été prise au cours de cette expérience personnelle et spirituelle avec Dieu. Le pouvoir qu'il allait transmettre pour Dieu était un pouvoir qu'il avait acquis en privé avec Dieu. Écrivain oint, prophète fidèle, intrépide, toute l'identité d'Ésaïe n'était que le reflet de ce qu'il était lui-même. Il s'était rendu à l'autel pour rencontrer Dieu ! Alors que nous terminons ces 10 jours de prière, nous espérons que vous avez commencé à reconstruire votre autel personnel de culte journalier. Et souhaitons que votre famille s'engage à rencontrer Dieu chaque matin et chaque soir. Mais bien davantage, nous prions pour que vous acceptiez l'invitation spéciale de Dieu à répondre à son appel. L'Eternel veut toucher votre cœur. « À ceux dont la consécration est telle que le Seigneur peut toucher leur leurs lèvres, s'adresse la parole : « Entrez dans la moisson, je serai avec vous. » (Ellen G. White, Ministère Evangélique, p.18).

This question was sent by Rosemary, and she writes, Hello Vidas Firstly can I thank you for the wonderfully informative emails you have sent during the last week, To date I have found them very helpful and thought provoking. A good beginning to the information I need to develop my study for the next 12 months. In reply to your first question. My goal for this coming year is a 30 minute lunchtime recital on 8 October 2021. My practice situation is a small instrument, one manual with a full pedal board and 5 stops in our local church (country town). The recital is on an instrument 8 times this size in a provincial city 45 km away. Aug 2019 I was included in the programme and played an all Bach programme (BWV 554, BWV 555, BWV 604, BWV 536 and BWV 570 ) I lacked confidence and found it a rather tough experience and have resolved to better the experience. Important aspects to address. Developing a plan for the year's study. Developing the programme. (Bach again as his music is a passion of mine, or a European tour, (Boellmann, Faure..Italian school, and Bach ) The learning of a piece, bringing it up to concert standard and maintaining the standard for the recital date. Work on analysing the piece, Your email of Dec 1st has been a great catalyst. Maybe this is one of the secrets to understanding the piece and gaining confidence in performance. Additionally, I have shortened the length of the fragments I learn at a time and have resolved to trial your suggestions. The content of the material you've sent seems like a good foundation. I need all these tips and more. I have had no formal lessons on the instrument, gathering knowledge through reading, listening and suggestions from colleagues in recent years. More information on ornaments, (BWV 555 do you include the marked trill on the resolution of the prelude.) The French Noels how do you fit in the mordants and how are they played, Currently I am learning Priere a Notre-Dame L Boellmann your copy with fingering and pedaling, Sicilienne OP.78 G Faure Sonata 5 BWV 529 Bach third movement I am particularly interested in your copy of Ich ruf' zu Dir, Herr Jesu Christ BWV 639 where you have written out the interpretation of the ornaments and how they fit in.More on this please. Time I stopped, I have gained regular access to the organ for the recital determined to be more familiar with the instrument, I have considerable support and assistance from the regular organists especially with choice of registration. This question was sent by Jeremy. And he writes: "My Boellmann's Suite Gothique performance at church went alright. Everything felt comfortable before the service, but some wrong notes crept in during the service, particularly in the Minuet. The Priere went really well. One small mistake that is bothering me occurred at the transition into the g minor section. A parishioner did approach me afterwards and thanked me, which was really nice."
