It's World Kidney Day, and we met a remarkable husband and wife whose story speaks of love, and the incredible impact of live kidney donation. When Rose Ballester started having issues with her kidney, her husband Freddie made the decision to offer his.Sebastian Desoisa is the GBC Sports Person of the Year. The 18-year-old golfer took home the top prize at the 2024 GBC Sports Awards on Tuesday night. Now that the dust has now settled, we caught up with and Seb in the studio.A sensory blanket to soothe your mind: Sensory Snuggle is a Young Enterprise Team. Their blanket features sensory elements designed for neurodivergent as well as dementia patients. Adelle Caetano, Ella Byrne, and Leila Debono told us more about their product.Rodney Marsh is a former footballer, who won nine caps for England in the early 70's. He later moved in to broadcasting and has worked for the likes of Sky Sports, TalkSport and SiriusXM in the United States. This evening he'll be at the Casino Admiral - "An Audience with Rodney Marsh" - the proceeds of which will be going to the GBC Open Day fund.And, the Philharmonic Society is holding a Flute & Piano Recital in the Convent Ballroom this evening. International Women's Day is tomorrow, and last night Katy Docker chaired a discussion on Viewpoint about local women's issues. She has also compiled a timeline of significant historical moments for women on the Rock. We reflected with Katy how much progress has been made over the years, but also how there is still a lot of work to be done going forward to achieve equality and equity for women. The countdown is on! 196 days to be precise - until the start of the 2025 Netball World Youth Cup. Some of the best U21 players from around the world will descend on the rock for a week of elite competition. Organisers Dylan Trenado, Alex Rodriguez and umpire Nadine Pardo-Zammit were in the studio with the official match ball that was recently revealed. Who doesn't love classical music? Ahead of World Water Day later this month, the Convent Ballroom will host a recital in support of local charity Action 4 Schools water well projects. We spoke to Jimmy Bruzon heads the charity, as well as Nathan Payas who will be performing live. Abacus is collecting children's winter clothes on behalf of The Orphans Project Morocco to help children in need. They are accepting donations of warm clothes for kids up to the age of 16 and are asking the community for their help. Deena Abboubi is heading up the clothing drive.Budding entrepreneurs at St. Annes school are getting the chance to pitch their big ideas to potential investors this afternoon... The pupils are taking on a Dragons Den style challenge, as part of their work in the Young Enterprise fiver challenge. Our reporter Shelina Assomull forms part of the judging panel.And, Louis Parral told us what we can look forward to this weekend in local sport, with athletes setting off for the Winter Special Olympics, and the final stage of the roadrunners league, and the football league title race coming down to the wire. Aunque inicialmente no logramos contactar con ella, finalmente la soprano Ainhoa Arteta atendió nuestra llamada para hablarnos de su actuación de este sábado 8 de marzo en Ferrol. La artista regresa al escenario del Auditorio de Ferrol, donde se presentó por primera vez el 4 de abril de 2014, un lugar que ha sido testigo de su impresionante talento. Desde aquella actuación, no habíamos tenido la oportunidad de disfrutar de su voz en directo, y será este fin de semana cuando Arteta deleite al público ferrolano con un recital inolvidable. En este concierto, que forma parte de la programación de la Filarmónica Ferrolana, Ainhoa Arteta interpretará un variado repertorio compuesto por piezas de compositores como Fauré, Puccini, García Abril, Obradors, Falla, Giménez y Granados. Las melodías de estos grandes maestros prometen hacer vibrar a los asistentes en una velada de música clásica de altísimo nivel. Reconocida mundialmente como una de las sopranos más destacadas de España, Ainhoa Arteta ha sido galardonada con numerosos premios nacionales e internacionales y ha actuado en los auditorios más prestigiosos del mundo, interpretando a los personajes más emblemáticos de la ópera. Sin embargo, la soprano no se limita solo a la ópera y también realiza recitales y conciertos, como el que ofrecerá este sábado en Ferrol, acompañada por el pianista Javier Carmena, compositor y musicólogo de renombre en la escena musical actual. Gibraltar's women's national team are in action later - at home - in an official UEFA competition. They take on Faroe Islands tonight at Europa Point Stadium in the UEFA Women's Nations League. Stefan Borge is part of the GBC team covering the match.Jan-André Diederich is a German linguist carrying out research on Gibraltar's linguistic landscape at the moment in Gibraltar. He is currently investigating the written languages visible in Main Street, i.e. signs, adverts, public and commercial notices etc. He will then compare this with the written languages visible in La Calle Real in La Linea. We spoke to him about the project alongside Manuel Enriles, of the Gibraltar for a Multilingual Society.Stella Bosano's 'Communicate' was the overall winner of this year's Young Artist Competition. A total of 43 art works were submitted this year, her piece was deemed the best of the bunch! She told us what inspired her piece.Parliament has heard current police resources are adequate for the effective monitoring of sex offenders in our community. Justice Minister Nigel Feetham also said Gibraltar has an equivalent process to Sarah's Law, the child sex offender disclosure scheme. Our News Editor Christine Vasquez was following yesterday's Parliament session.And, Belgian harpist Anneleen Lenaerts, principal harpist at the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, will be performing live at the Convent Ballroom this evening! EPH provides safety, stability, and solutions leading to self-sufficiency for families with children facing homelessness, and the Doctors in Recital show on Saturday helps raise money for their programs. Doctors in Recital is an evening of musical excellence put on by area physicians donating their time and talents to raise money for local causes. Then our mortgage guru, Kristen Ambos is in from Point Mortgage Corporation. She says she loves to "shop around" for programs that would benefit home buyers and shares a program we'd never heard of: a family-occupied mortgage. A family opportunity mortgage is a loan for a residential property bought for a parent or an adult child student or a special needs adult child who could not qualify for financing on their own. Otro gran fin de semana de Fórmula 1 y, sobre todo, una inconmensurable exhibición del que a pesar de las críticas, está demostrando ser el mejor piloto de la parrilla actual, Max Verstappen. Nos queda buen sabor de boca ahora que, otra vez, estaremos varias semanas sin Grandes Premios. Así que esta semana, en el Podcast Técnica Fórmula 1, toca analizar a fondo toda la locura que fue el GP de São Paulo. Un gran piloto, sin el mejor coche. Recital de Max Verstappen. Empezó 17º el Gran Premio y acabó ganándolo después de una gran remontada que no veíamos desde 2007, cuando Kimi Räikkönen también partió de esa posición en Brasil y también ganó la carrera… y luego la temporada. Es cierto que el holandés pudo aprovecharse de situaciones favorables, por supuesto. Por cierto, que ninguna de ellas le resta el más mínimo mérito, pues todos sabemos que ahora mismo no tiene el mejor coche, a pesar de lo cual encadenó 17 vueltas rápidas en carrera. Una locura. Por otro lado, fin de semana muy loco en São Paulo con una lluvia torrencial que obligó incluso a celebrar la clasificación en domingo, además de adelantar la carrera hora y media. En el otro platillo de la balanza, Norris, que está cometiendo demasiados errores: así no se puede ganar un Mundial. Una salida tan loca como la carrera. Como suele suceder, Norris perdió la primera plaza, desde la que salía, en la primera vuelta, contra Russell. Mientras, Max ganaba 7 posiciones y Pérez hacía un trompo. Pero, para trompo, el de Stroll en la vuelta de formación, tras el que se fue, de forma incomprensible, a la grava, y provocó un lío monumental al abortarse el procedimiento de salida. Por cierto, un lío muy grande porque ni pilotos ni equipos parecen saberse correctamente el reglamento cosa que, una vez más, no se puede decir de Verstappen, que por radio preguntó qué hacían los demás si se había abortado la salida. La carrera, un cúmulo de situaciones. Aparte de lo anteriormente comentado, en el primer episodio se habla de la lucha de Lawson contra Pérez y la inquina por parte del neozelandés contra el mexicano, al que se rumorea que podría quitar el asiento… aunque tendrá que mejorar mucho aún para eso. También se hablará del VSC por las condiciones de la pista. ¿Fue adecuado o una ventaja para quienes iban primeros y no habían parado? ¿Y qué decir de la bandera roja por el accidente de Colapinto? ¿No hubiera bastado un simple coche de seguridad?
