While drowning his sorrows at the bar of a dive in downtown Los Angeles, Angel notices three guys leave the bar with two women. Angel follows them to a dark alley, where he kills the three men, who are revealed to be vampires. One of the frightened girls, Janice, bleeding from a minor head wound, tries to thank him, but Angel, fixated on the blood, warns them harshly to get away from him and strides down the dark alley. Angel makes his way to his new home, a basement apartment beneath a ground floor office, where he finds Doyle waiting for him. Doyle introduces himself, explaining he is half human, half demon, then recaps the story of Angel's life, ending with his recent breakup with the Slayer and his move to L.A. Doyle explains that Angel's isolation, combined with the fact that he recently drank human blood, puts him at serious risk of relapse. Doyle gets visions from The Powers That Be (accompanied by debilitating headaches) regarding people whose lives Angel must touch; true redemption lies not just in saving lives but in saving souls as well. Doyle concludes by handing over a scrap of paper on which he has jotted information about a young woman named Tina. When Angel asks why Tina needs him, Doyle replies that getting involved in her life enough to figure that out is Angel's first order of business. Angel finds Tina during her shift and persuades her to meet him after work. Waiting by his car, Angel is surprised to see her in elegant evening dress and even more surprised when she pulls pepper spray from her purse. Tina accuses Angel of being employed by someone named Russell Winters, but he convinces her to accept his offer of a lift to the "fabulous Hollywood party" she plans to attend. When they arrive, Angel runs into Cordelia Chase, whom he last saw at her graduation ceremony at Sunnydale High months earlier. After Cordelia brags about how successful she is, she leaves to talk to "people that are somebody.” Angel sees a man harassing Tina and asks about him. She tells him that he is Stacy, a creep, and she would like to leave. On their way into the parking garage, Angel fights off Stacy and his goons. Meanwhile, in her dingy apartment, Cordelia hangs up her one dress and nibbles snacks she stole from the party because she could not afford food while listening to her talent agent's discouraging phone message. After Tina falls asleep, Angel spends the night on the public library's computers, searching for information about Tina's friend Denise, who disappeared after becoming involved with Russell. The next morning, Angel tells Tina he believes her friend Denise was murdered. As she listens, Tina spots Doyle's note listing her name and workplace, and, convinced afresh that Angel has been running some scam for Russell, panics and runs. Angel tries to grab her at the building's entrance, but sunlight burns his hand, causing him to turn vampirish reflexively. In stark terror, Tina flees. Russell Winters, a multi-millionaire businessman, finds Tina when she returns to her apartment to pack. She allows herself to be drawn into his arms; however Russell is a vampire and bites her. Angel races to the rescue, only to find Tina dead, marks of vampire predation on her throat. Later that day at his heavily guarded mansion, Russell meets with a young lawyer from the evil law firm of Wolfram & Hart to discuss his airtight (fictitious) alibi in the matter of Tina's demise. Russell orders the lawyer to bring him Cordelia, whom he has selected as his next victim. Angel tracks down Stacy and interrogates him until he reveals Russell's location, then persuades Doyle to help him avenge Tina's death. Excited by her limo ride to meet the Russell Winters, Cordelia is impressed by his ornate mansion. After a servant ushers her into Russell's den, Cordelia spills the story of her life to her host - until she notices the unusually heavy drapes and lack of mirrors and concludes aloud that Winters is a vampire. Winters vamps and reaches for Cordelia, who flees. Angel arrives and rescues her. The next day, Angel stalks into a conference room at the Russell Winters Enterprises building, where Russell is conducting a meeting with his business associates and the Wolfram & Hart lawyer. Unimpressed by Russell's claim that he can do whatever he wants and get away with it, Angel asks the CEO if he can fly, then kicks his chair through the windows. Exposed to sunlight, Russell bursts into flame and disintegrates to dust. As Angel departs, the lawyer uses his cell phone to report to his firm that, although the "Senior Partners" need not be disturbed by the news of the death of their client just yet, there seems to be a "new player in town". Back at home, Angel despondently calls Buffy, but when he hears her voice, hangs up without speaking. Later, Cordelia proposes that they go into the business of saving souls as a team—at least until her acting career materializes. As Doyle observes that many people in L.A. need help, Angel stands atop a skyscraper, looking out over the L.A. nightscape.

"It's Valentine's Day this week, but Cupid seems to be MIA because Sunnydale High is filled with breakups, love spells, and actual human hearts as gifts; though this feels on brand for Sunnydale. And say it ain't so – our fave couple Xordelia calls it quits and Xander is feeling all the feels. Butthurt and heartbroken, Xander enlists Amy (remember her?!) to channel her inner witch and conjure up a love spell. It quickly becomes VERY evident that she done messed up, when EVERY WOMAN aside from Cordi starts noticing what a hot lil' nugget Xander is. Of course things escalate to violence as the group of lovesick puppies start a literal mob and fight to the death for Xander. We even questioned if we were affected by the spell because during a Xander thirst trap moment, Ash started questioning if she's even an Angel girlie anymore! BUT not to worry because Cordi has a big moment of growth this episode and we spoil you with some heartfelt advice from Ash and Alaina. Even if Cupid is MIA this week, we've got your back
What's a girl to do when it's Parent-Teacher night and she's being called one of the biggest troublemakers at Sunnydale High?? Well, our girl Buffy is turning these sour lemons into some equally sour LEMONADE as she hosts, distracts her mom, and eventually saves everyone's asses at Parent-Teacher night.
Career Week looms over Sunnydale High, and Buffy is reminded once more that her career is likely to be unpaid, antisocial, and short. Angel suggests the two of them go ice skating to cheer Buffy up. Spike and Drusilla are planning something big, but they need to keep Buffy occupied, so they send for the Order of Taraka, deadly semi-human assassins. The first assassin attacks Buffy and Angel at the ice rink but is stopped by a Buffpowered ice skate to the jugular. The second is a man made of bugs, who is unwittingly let into Buffy's house by Cordy. Angel tries to beat information out of Willy the Snitch - an owner of a local bar that caters to demons - but the presumed third assassin appears and locks Angel in a cage, with the sun rising fast. This third assassin then finds and attacks Buffy, and the episode ends with her telling Buffy, "Me name is Kendra: The Vampire Slayer.”CreditsHosted by Allie Press & Nick MercerEdited by Allie PressMusic by InflatonCultArtwork by Charlotte Fleming DesignConsultation by Evo TerraConnect with us on social media!Email: tabularasabpod@gmail.comTwitter, Instagram, Facebook, Tiktok: @tabularasabpodConnect with Allie on social media:Twitter, Instagram: @DaughterpickTiktok: @futureblackcatbuymeacoffee.com/AlliePressVenmo: Allie-Press
The episode opens with Angel saving a kid from Drusilla's clutches and urging her and Spike to leave town. Unbeknownst to them, Buffy is out patrolling and observes and misconstrues the interaction. The next day in school, Buffy and the gang learn that Billy "Ford" Fordham, Buffy's fifth-grade crush, has transferred to Sunnydale High. Xander is, unsurprisingly, jealous, and Angel is as well when he runs into the Scoobies at the Bronze that night. Later, Ford sees Buffy stake a vampire, confessing that he already knew she was the Slayer. Angel is suspicious about Ford and teams up with Willow and Xander to investigate him. They learn that Ford isn't actually enrolled at Sunnydale High and that he is part of a cult of vampire wannabes. Ford finds his way to Spike's hideout and cuts a deal: make Ford a vampire, and Ford will deliver Buffy. Ford lures Buffy into the cult's converted bomb shelter and locks everyone in, awaiting the vampires to come and convert them. Buffy learns Ford is doing this because he has cancer, is dying, and that he feels he doesn't have a choice. Buffy reminds him, “you don't have a good choice, but you have a choice.” The vampires break in, and Buffy holds Drusilla hostage, telling Spike to let the humans go. Spike does, and everyone except Ford escapes. The next night, Ford rises as a vampire and is staked by Buffy while she and Giles talk about the complicated nature of life.CreditsHosted by Allie Press & Nick MercerEdited by Allie PressMusic by InflatonCultArtwork by Charlotte Fleming DesignConsultation by Evo TerraConnect with us on social media!Email: tabularasabpod@gmail.comTwitter, Instagram, Facebook, Tiktok: @tabularasabpodConnect with Allie on social media:Twitter, Instagram: @DaughterpickTiktok: @futureblackcatbuymeacoffee.com/AlliePressVenmo: Allie-Press
It's career week at Sunnydale High and everyone is anxious to see what the future holds. Xander gets matched as a prison guard, Cordelia gets matched as a personal shopper (SO on brand) or a motivational speaker (ummm…), Willow's getting courted by some weird tech company (and hopefully Oz soon), and Buffy is forced to accept the fact that a normal career just isn't in the cards for her. Luckily Angel knows just how to cheer her up and takes Buffy ice skating for their first official date! FINALLY! But of course, no date in Sunnydale would be complete without one of Spike's assassins crashing and attempting to murder Buffy. (Spike has assassins now?! Cool, cool.) Buffy hides out in Angel's sad looking underground lair but is rudely interrupted by someone named Kendra who is making some pretty crazy claims that def change what the future holds for Buffy!New episodes come out every Monday or you can listen early on Amazon Music or early and ad-free by subscribing to Wondery Plus in Apple Podcasts or the Wondery App.Please support us by supporting our sponsors.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
It's foreign exchange student time at Sunnydale High, and Buffy is hosting a male student from South America. Xander isn't thrilled until it seems Buffy is actually hosting a girl, not a boy. Unbeknownst to the Scoobies, this girl, who takes on the name Ampata, is an ancient Incan mummy sacrificed by her people. She's brought back to life and must drain the life force of other people in order to remain alive. Xander quickly charms Ampata with his goofiness, and she agrees to go with him to the upcoming World Culture Dance. More bodies are discovered, and Buffy and Giles realize that Ampata is the mummy. Just as Willow is about to become Ampata's next victim, Xander offers himself in her place. Ampata hesitates just long enough to age quickly and turn to dust. The next day, Xander bemoans his awful luck in love, and Buffy points out that Ampata may have done bad things, but she also had horrible things done to her. It's science fair week at Sunnydale High, and everyone is bringing their A-game. Willow is working on winning first place (obviously), Cordelia is questioning whether a tomato is a fruit or a vegetable (it's a fruit btw), and Chris Epp is building the “perfect girlfriend” made out of dead girls' severed body parts. You know Armin Shimerman as the scheming Ferengi Quark on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and possibly also as the principal of Sunnydale High on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. But if you asked him what he considers to be his primary profession, you might be surprised by his answer. “I am primarily a teacher,” he tells me in the interview below. Shimerman is also a writer, and the third book in his Illyria trilogy is set to be released early next year. He and I sat down to discuss the books, Shakespeare, Sherlock Holmes, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and the late, great Rene Auberjonois. If you're considering buying the Illyria trilogy, I highly recommend starting with the first one, Betrayal of Angels. You can order the first two books and preorder the third at the Jumpmaster Press website. Patreon supporters gain access to a special deleted scene, wherein Shimerman discusses the problem with a recent filmed version of Macbeth and gives a short master class on Shakespearean text. Can you even believe Sunnydale High is still open with all of the students and staff murdered on a weekly basis? Well here are some more murders, and yes you do still have to come in for your trig test tomorrow. In today's episode, we meet Sid the dummy/demon hunter/misogynist and kill some more kids. Sorry for the mic issues! They get better, I promise.
If you're not afraid of puppets already, you might be after this one! It all begins when Mr. Snyder, Sunnydale High's new principal (RIP Principal Flutie) decides to have a talent show to boost school spirit. During rehearsal, a dead body is found…because of course a talent show in Sunnydale involves a murder. BUT this murder feels different – not your garden variety vampire or demon killing that Buffy and the gang are used to. Could an actual human have done this? Or was it the creepy ventriloquist puppet Sid? Puppets couldn't possibly kill people…or could they?New episodes come out every Monday or you can listen early on Amazon Music or early and ad-free by subscribing to Wondery Plus in Apple Podcasts or the Wondery App.Please support us by supporting our sponsors!See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Giles has been put in charge of Sunnydale High's annual talent show by the new student-hating principal, Principal Snyder. Buffy, Xander, and Willow find Giles' new gig very amusing until they too are forced into participating by Snyder, who sees them, especially Buffy, as trouble makers. Things get worse, however, when a member of the cast is found with her heart removed, leading Giles to suspect there is a demon at work harvesting organs. Buffy first suspects amateur ventriloquist Morgan, a fellow student experiencing extreme headaches. But when he turns up minus his brain, Buffy's suspicion moves to Morgan's creepy dummy, Sid. Sid turns out to be a demon hunter imprisoned in a puppet's body and is hunting the demon himself. Sid helps Buffy track the demon down, saving Giles just before he becomes the demon's next victim. Welcome to the Boys Watching Buffy Podcast! On this episode, the Boys discuss Werewolf Oz being the prime suspect of a murder until Buffy discovers a feral Angel. The Boys also dive into Buffy starting to see the School Therapist, Scott Hope's friend being an abusive Jekyll & Hyde, Debbie getting victim-blamed, and Giles giving one of our favorite knocked-unconscious performances so far. Plus Joe and Vance question the new Werewolf costume, the security level of Library Jail, and why Sunnydale High has so many genius students. We celebrated the 25th Anniversary of Buffy the Vampire Slayer from Torrance High School, aka Sunnydale High, with hundreds of your beautiful nerdy faces — and it was one of the best nights of our damn lives. We are going through some of our favorite high-school moments from Buffy, including the infamous Oedipus Rex performance at the end of "The Puppet Show," (17:22) the meeting of The Mayor, Faith, Buffy, Angel and everyone else in "Choices," (33:12) and that romantically terrifying lovers-to-ghosts possession in "I Only Have Eyes For You" (55:14). Oh, and then we prove that Buffy and Faith absolutely totally entirely had sex with each other (1:10:20). Buffy is using all of her slayer know-how to be a guidance counselor at the new Sunnydale High and it seems that, as many might have anticipated, those two skill sets do not have significant overlap — though she is great at sharpening pencils. Spike is still feeling very very sad in the basement, Zachary Ty Bryan is here to remind us that boys (in robes) will be boys (in robes), and Cassie's death hits the Scooby gang hard because... what do you do if you know you can't help? The marching jazz band, Sunnydale High's last hope for championship glory, needs new uniforms, and that means it's time to sell chocolate bars! Buffy chafes under yet another duty added to her oversupervised, overscheduled life when she would rather be watching a shirtless Angel. But then the adults in Sunnydale start acting more like Buffy than, well, Buffy herself. As she and the Scoobies try to figure out what's happening, Buffy discovers two things: it's no fun being the most mature person in the room, and she does not want to know where her mom got those handcuffs. Hear us discuss… Stephanie is an old and cranky white woman at heart Xander and Willow continue to disappoint Buffy has a poor grasp of the size of New Brunswick What happened to all the leftover candy? A mauled marching (jazz) band corpse means a beast is loose in Sunnydale. Initial signs point to Oz, but Buffy when learns there's another beast out there—a wild, shirtless Angel—she fears the worst. While the gang tries to solve this mystery, Buffy must deal with Sunnydale High's smoking psychologist and grapple with the fact that not all boyfriends are as innocuous as Scott Hope. The summer has passed and the Scoobies are doing their best to pick up the slack with Buffy gone. Hear us discuss… Sunnydale High is hoppin'! Joyce and Giles having a very real conversation Buffy can't avoid who she is That fight choreography tho Poor A-aron, you never learn Trigger warnings Cults, death, sexual assault
