"I asked myself, "Where would people never notice a town full of robots? Connecticut!" We watched the infamously camp remake of "The  Stepford Wives" directed by Frank Oz with our friend Chris Gallo (Golden Girls Posters). We might be scratching our heads about the actual plot of this adaptation of the 1972 Ira Levin novel, but at a brisk ninty minutes (not including credits) do we really care? This cast is more full of gay icons than the  Palm Springs Walk of Fame - powerhouse actresses like Bette Midler and Glenn Close absolutely knock these Paul Rudnick one-liners out of the park and they make just about any plot holes disappear. Nicole Kidman leads our cast as a disgraced TV exec exiled to Stepford Connecticut where the titular wives are a little too good to be true. Bette Midler is in top form playing an ultra liberal Stepford newbie getting into Scooby Gang shenanigans with Nic and Roger Bart as the gay soon to be "Stepford Husband". The would-be robotic antics of the wives are played for camp and Glenn Close is really killing it as the over the top alpha wife. The alleged script re-writes, on set clashes between actors and Oz and the general unevenness of the plot take their toll, but the women really carry this one and we could watch Glenn and Faith Hill Do-Si-Do with smoke coming out of their ears all day. Don't think too hard about this one - just let the microchips take over and enjoy the show.  Thanks for listening and don't forget to subscribe, rate and review us on Apple Podcasts! www.patreon.com/moviesthatmadeusgay Facebook/Instagram: @moviesthatmadeusgay Twitter: @MTMUGPod Scott Youngbauer: Twitter @oscarscott / Instagram @scottyoungballer Peter Lozano: Twitter/Instagram @peterlasagna

What do WWE wrestlers John Cena and Triple H, the Harlem Globetrotters, Batman and Robin,  Sonny and Cher, and Simon Cowell all have in common? They've all appeared with Scooby Doo at some point over the past 55 years!  Yes, you heard that right… everyone's favorite cowardly-but-lovable, snack-eating, ghost-hunting Great Dane made his first appearance in 1969, and is still going strong.  But what circumstances led to the development of “Scooby-Doo,” and on what TV characters were the Scooby Gang based? How did Scooby Doo change over the years? And the real question… Scrappy Doo: Love him or hate him?  Jinkies! We discuss all this and so much more. So jump in the Mystery Machine Van and ride along as we unravel the (not-so-challenging) mystery of why “Scooby Doo” remains a beloved cartoon to this day.  The show is also available on your favorite podcast app and the Scandal Water Podcast YouTube channel.  Special thanks to Ruthie, Richard, Anderson, and Brody for their listener shout-out! Roll up with your twenty-sided dice and spell books, as "Legends, Loot and Lore" embarks on a spirited tour of Dungeons & Dragons' most memorable forays into television. Together with Catherine, a fixture in our podcasting party, we pay homage to the rasterized realms where D&D not only rolled initiative on screen but also cast a charm spell over viewers. From the demogorgon-fueled adventures in "Stranger Things" to the nostalgic trip to the "Freaks and Geeks" basement, we parse through how our beloved tabletop epic has crit-hit its way into the heart of pop culture, with a few unexpected digressions that are as delightful as they are insightful. The dice gods have spoken, and we've got the definitive list from Inverse.com, but not without our own twist. Catherine and I don our wizard hats and conjure an analysis of television's most iconic D&D episodes, where we might not always see eye-to-eye with Inverse's rankings. We celebrate the power of role-playing to bring people together, laughing along with "The IT Crowd," reminiscing with "The Goldbergs," and even imagining how the Scooby Gang from "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" would fare on a D&D campaign. It's an episode brimming with the kind of nostalgia and camaraderie that could only be inspired by countless nights around the gaming table. As our quest nears its end, we share our personal picks for the episodes that have truly honored the spirit of D&D. We ponder how the characters from "Gravity Falls" would stack up in a campaign, chuckle at a Key & Peele sketch that marries hip-hop culture with monster-slaying, and even delve into the psyche of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" characters as potential D&D heroes. So, whether you're a dungeon master or a curious newcomer, join us for an episode that's as much a celebration of shared storytelling as it is a tribute to the rolling of the dice that binds us all in the fantastical world of Dungeons & Dragons.Inverse.com - D&D TV Show Episodes RankedScreen Rant - Buffy Characters as D&D PlayersCampaign Eddie Funko Pop Support the show1. The Rewatcher: Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Don't let the title fool you because there is nothing innocent about this heart wrenching episode. You'd think after their steamy and romantic night together that Buffy and Angel would be in post- sexy time bliss, but because this is Sunnydale and no one can ever truly be happy, Angel loses his soul while ‘giving Buffy her birthday present' (yes… that's a euphemism), and we're all collectively wishing it weren't so! Reunited with Dru & Spike, the true Angelus unleashes his inner fuckboi and plans a campaign against Buffy to make her regret ever making him love her. We regret ever loving YOU, Angel! While Buffy's world is ending, the Scooby Gang seems to have plenty of issues of their own. Xander shows what a clueless nimwit he is when it comes to women when Willow catches him making out with Cordelia, Uncle Basset Hound reveals that Buffy is fated to kill Angel, but at least Jenny shows that she's still on Team-Scoob! Oz joins the gang and even though everything else sucks in Sunnydale, we do get some pretty adorable Ozlow moments, thank GOD. With an episode complete with sad Buffle themes, copious amounts of SMG-face, and heartfelt words from our favorite librarian/watcher/daddy, join us while we all face the big blue Judgment!New episodes come out every Monday or you can listen early on Amazon Music or early and ad-free by subscribing to Wondery Plus in Apple Podcasts or the Wondery App.Please support us by supporting our sponsors.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

The Rewatcher: Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Grab your party hats and a slice of birthday cake because it's Buffy's 17th birthday, and everyone's invited! Even Drusilla and Spike have a special gift for Buff! It happens to be a dismembered demon who has the ability to cause the apocalypse, but it's the thought that counts right?! So, like…Beep me! I guess? Buffy has some spooky dreams that turn concerningly prophetic which causes her to stress about Angel and his future (or lack thereof), but that doesn't stop her from taking her relationship with him to the next level…. If you know what we mean ;) Meanwhile, the Scoobs are up to some secret plans of their own with a surprise party for Buffy, spearheaded by Giles. While Giles is preoccupied with leading the party planning committee, Jenny gets a visit from her uncle which reveals her surprising connection to Angel, making us doubt her allegiance to the Scooby Gang. Fake ass bitch! But it's not all doom and gloom this ep because NEW COUPLE NAME ALERT: OzLow have their first official date and it's anything but boring. Everyone's dream first date involves an exploding vampire right? No? Just us? The Rewatcher: Buffy the Vampire Slayer

We've always known Sunnydale is filled with a few “bad eggs” (I mean it's on top of a Hellmouth, what do you expect?), but this week the Scooby Gang is literally dealing with rotten eggs filled with alien-like scorpion creatures for a parenting project in health class. All this talk of parenting and the future has everyone acting extra horny and no one can seem to keep their hands off each other. Angel and Buffy make out non-stop in a graveyard (hot) and Xordelia faces the relationship hurdle of whether or not they even like each other while simultaneously playing ‘Seven Minutes in Heaven' in the janitor's closet (hot x2). And if that wasn't enough to deal with for one week, two vampire brothers from the Wild West named Lyle and Tector show up in Sunnydale with all the intentions of making Buffy's life Hell. Will Buffy have to fight two big bads this week or will these new cowboy vampires (because that's a thing now) help her destroy the mother of these gross gooey egg creatures? Just how many gas leaks can one building have before the government gets involved? The Rewatcher: Buffy the Vampire Slayer

The first rule of living in Sunnydale: NEVER SAY IT'S QUIET! With Dru and Spike out of the picture (for now) Buffy thinks she is going to have a nice, quiet week until she is faced with her scariest nightmare yet…seeing her mom, Joyce making out with some random dude. Sure, Ted is gainfully employed, a talented cook and interested in building a future with Joyce, but Buffy can't shake the feeling that this future doesn't really include her. His over-the-top demeanor and eagerness to lovebomb Joyce, Xander and Willow are annoying, but Buffy lands in SERIOUS trouble, (like possible jail time trouble) when she goes head to head with Ted, and he ends up in a bodybag. The Scooby Gang knows Buffy isn't a cold blooded murderer, so they set out to figure out what the hell is up with no longer dead Ted (Did we mention he came back from the dead?!) He isn't a bug creature, demon, or vampire, so what could he be?! Did Buffy murder an innocent man? Will Joyce ever find love again? Will the Scooby gang save Buffy from her oversized overalls? The Rewatcher: Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Everybody has a past, and our favorite tweed wearing, library loving, British Watcher is no exception. This week's episode is all about Giles (or should we say “Ripper”) having to confront his demons…literally. Just when things are starting to get steamy between him and Jenny Calendar, he totally gets cockblocked by a demon named Mark of Eyghon that Giles and his friends summoned when they were younger to possess them for fun…ya know just your average college debauchery. Luckily, The Scooby Gang is on the case with Willow stepping up to fill in for Giles as he deals with his heavy baggage. Maybe she has what it takes to be the next Watcher?!New episodes come out every Monday or you can listen early on Amazon Music or early and ad-free by subscribing to Wondery Plus in Apple Podcasts or the Wondery App.Please support us by supporting our sponsors.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

The Rewatcher: Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Trick or Treat Weirdos? It's spooky season in Sunnydale baby, and this episode does NOT disappoint! Buffy and the Scooby Gang dress up for hot girl Halloween (we see those abs Willow!) and volunteer to take some local kids trick or treating, when all the sudden everyone starts turning into their costume?!? Xander is an army dude, Willow is a ghost, and Buffy is an 18th century colonial woman / princess who has no idea how to kill a vampire. Super inconvenient costume choice Buffy! Plus it seems like Giles may have some sort of dirty secret? Say it ain't so our perfect tweed magic Watcher! The adult animated series Velma chronicles the origin story of the bespectacled brains of the original Scooby Gang. We meet Velma, Fred, Daphne and Shaggy in high school, as Velma struggles with mean girls, a neglectful father, a missing mother, patriarchal beauty standards, same-sex attraction and a serial killer. Velma is voiced by Mindy Kaling, and the rest of the show's voice cast includes Sam Richardson, Constance Wu, and Glenn Howerton.

The Rewatcher: Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Frat guys often get a bad rap as being snakes, but of course in Sunnydale the frat guys here actually ARE snakes…or giant weird lizard things to be more specific. This week Buffy begrudgingly agrees to hit up a frat party with Cordelia, and what begins as a night out to spread her wings (and maybe make Angel a bit jealous?) turns into a night of avoiding getting sacrificed to a giant lizard frat guy. Will the Scooby Gang be able to save Buffy and Cordelia from the lizard demon? Will Angel finally get the hint, and just take Buffy out on a coffee date? The Rewatcher: Buffy the Vampire Slayer

We are back for season 2 baby!!! After a summer of self-reflection and time spent with her dad, Buffy is reunited with the Scooby Gang, but something about her seems…off. She's acting rude and bitchy…like Cordelia-level bitchy. And if that wasn't enough drama, the Master is back (kinda) and haunting Buffy in her dreams, while the Anointed One is causing all kinds of shit in Sunnydale. The Rewatcher: Buffy the Vampire Slayer

It's the season 1 finale, baby! And boy oh boy is it a heart stopper! This week we learn Buffy's true prophecy and she tries to kiss her life as the slayer goodbye in hopes of living a “normal” teenage life. But suddenly everything goes awry. And we mean reeeealllllly awry – you know, like the type of awry where the Earth cracks open and a whole army of demons emerge? Buffy jumps back into action with help from The Scooby Gang (but with little help from Angel…WTF dude?), and we get an ending that no one saw coming. There will be tears, and zaddy issues, and prom dresses, oh my. It's a heavy season finale, and you won't want to miss it.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

With a new baddie popping up every week, it can be hard for Buffy to see the light at the end of the tunnel, but in this episode she really can't see it. No, like literally, she can't see it, because the assailant is invisible. Who or what could this invisible menace be? A ghost? A wizard under an invisibility cloak? And what's up with all the flute music? But just when things seem dire…Guess who's back…back again...ANGEL'S BACK and Ash couldn't be giddier!
