We all long for peace. The ancient people of God longed for it, too—looking forward to the day when God Himself would establish true and lasting peace. In today's episode of the MY Devotional Podcast, Dr. Michael Youssef reflects on Psalm 87 and its vision of people from every nation coming together in God's holy city. The psalmist looked ahead to a day when believers from every corner of the globe would be united in love for God and one another. That holy city is founded on the Rock of Ages, the Lord Jesus Christ. Any ministry, church, home, or life not built on Him will eventually crumble, because every foundation apart from Christ is sinking sand. Dr. Youssef points to Revelation's breathtaking picture of a great multitude from every nation, tribe, people, and language standing before the throne and before the Lamb. Our God is not a local or tribal deity—He is the God of the universe. He loves all people everywhere, equally, and His saving purpose extends to the ends of the earth. When we focus only on our little world and our little problems, we miss the joy of participating in God's global purpose. With King David on his death bed, the royal family knows that the time to transfer power is drawing near. David's oldest son, Adonijah, gains support for himself from well-known leaders like Joab and Abiathar, calling Judah together for a feast to celebrate his bid for kingship. Nathan the prophet catches word, and teams up with Bathsheba to alert the king. Later, the Lord appears to King Solomon in a dream, and instead of asking for wealth or long life, he asks the Lord for wisdom to lead God's people. Psalm 87: "The Glories of the City of God!" The Word of the Day with Rene' Holaday for Thurs 5-14-26

Jake Valencic teaches that because of God's love, people from all nations are becoming citizens of Zion through Christ and worshipping Him.

In this episode, Pastor Daniel Bennett and Youth Minister Jake Valencic discuss the recent sermon on Psalm 87, "Roll Call".

Psalter selection 87B. Rev. Parnell, in Psalm 87, explains that the psalm reveals God's purpose to spread the gospel to the ends of the earth, beginning with His covenant love for the Jewish people, symbolized by His love for Jerusalem and His presence in the temple. God loves Zion because it is the city of His people, where He met with them and provided grace through the temple sacrifices, to which the people responded in worship ("all my springs are in you"). The middle verses were show that God's love also extends to non-Jewish peoples—including Israel's enemies such as Egypt (Rahab), Babylon, Philistia, Tyre, and Ethiopia—who are counted as "born" in Jerusalem among God's people. Rev. Parnell connects the census imagery to God recording and saving individuals by name, and points forward to Jesus Christ as the one who, through his sacrifice, brings people into the people of God. The meditation closes by referencing the Lamb's Book of Life as a final census still open to those who trust in Christ.

The Word of the Day with Rene' Holaday for Thurs, 4-16-26 (6-19-25) Psalm 87: 1-7"And these were born in her!"  God gives special note to those who found Jesus during their lives who were Jews born in Israel!  It's SO surprising when a Jew finds Jesus that God even makes special note of those few Jews who made it into the "Church of the Firstborn" that were actually Jews!  What a remarkable thing to see that God is that surprised by that as well that He makes special note of them when looking at the Book of Life!  WOW!  They are that rare!  FASCINATING!  So yes- we must share the gospel with the JEWS!!  Great place to donate to for that purpose is OneforIsrael.org.  I tithe to them often.

I am Guthrie Chamberlain, and we are on Day 2715 of our Trek. The Purpose of Wisdom-Trek is to create a legacy of wisdom, to seek out discernment and insights, and to boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. Today's podcast title is: Zion's Global Citizenship – The Mother of All Nations - A Trek Through Psalm 87:1-7 Today, we embark on a truly extraordinary trek through Psalm 87, covering its entirety, verses 1 through 7, in the New Living Translation. This psalm, though short, contains one of the most magnificent and radical prophetic visions in all of Scripture: the expansion of God's people to include all nations, with Zion as their spiritual birthplace. After the personal laments of David in Psalm 86, where he affirmed that "You alone are God" and prayed for a sign of divine favor, Psalm 87 gives us the cosmic answer. God's universal sovereignty, which David proclaimed, is revealed here as a sovereign plan to bring all the nations that worshiped those "pagan gods" (Psalm 86:8) into the fold of His redeemed people. It transforms the physical city of Jerusalem into the spiritual mother of a global family. This psalm offers a breathtaking vision of inclusivity, unity, and hope. It assures us that God's plan is not confined to one place or one people, but extends to encompass the entire world. So, let's open our hearts to this global, prophetic masterpiece and grasp the meaning of Zion's ultimate citizenship. This first section is: The Foundation of God's Global Home Psalm 87:1-3 On the holy mountain stands the city founded by the Lord. He loves the city of Jerusalem more than any other city in Israel. O city of God, glorious things are said of you! Interlude The psalm begins by firmly establishing the foundation and significance of God's chosen city: "On the holy mountain stands the city founded by the Lord." This refers, of course, to Mount Zion, the site of Jerusalem and the Temple. This city's foundation is unique: it was "founded by the Lord." This wasn't merely a strategic military outpost; it was a sovereign choice by God, making it the center of His earthly operations and the place where He chose to place His name. This Divine choice elevates Jerusalem above every other place. The psalmist emphasizes the depth of God's affection for this city: "He loves the city of Jerusalem more than any other city in Israel." While God certainly loved all His covenant people and their territories, Jerusalem, where His Temple was located, held a unique and profound place in His heart. This divine love is the source of the city's power and destiny. And the result of this divine foundation and affection is its glorious reputation: "O city of God, glorious things are said of you! Interlude" The "glorious things" (niphla'ot) are God's wondrous deeds and promises. This declaration is a prophetic forecast of Zion's future fame, where its status as God's chosen dwelling place would be known and celebrated...
