Hospital clinical pharmacies play a key role in ensuring patients are taking medications effectively and supporting other providers who are managing their care. Mark Riggle, the assistant chief pharmacy officer at UC Davis Health, explains how 340B helps make this direct care and ancillary support possible.Clinical pharmacies are a bridge between providers and patientsRiggle says clinical pharmacy teams serve as drug experts that can help teach patients about potential side effects and how to take their medications properly. But these teams also can take the lead on supporting other providers on refills, prior authorizations, financial assistance, and more. That allows the other providers to focus less on those processes and more on providing medical care to the patients. In-house pharmacies can improve patient care and generate revenueUsing an in-house clinical pharmacy has benefits for both patients and the hospital. Riggle notes that keeping prescriptions and pharmacy support in-house can enable hospitals to keep better track of patients' health and identify if there are issues or questions with certain medications. At the same time, it generates revenue and 340B savings that support even more hospital services and improve patient health outcomes even more.Ramping up clinical pharmacy services and overcoming barriers can take timeRiggle says expanding clinical pharmacy initiatives at UC Davis Health has come with some challenges. It took years to roll out a refill program for all the providers who needed that support, and achieving success with a prior authorization program involved an evaluation of workflows to improve efficiency. But he noted that hospital pharmacists can present a value proposition to their leaders for how investing in 340B-supported clinical pharmacy services can be worth it to improve care quality and provider satisfaction.ResourcesFederal Judge Allows 340B Health, Member Hospitals To Intervene in Rebate Lawsuits
In 2022, we presented the oral history of U.S. Marine Corps veteran Rob Riggle, who later became famous as an actor and comedian. Riggle told us all about his service in Kosovo and Afghanistan and how his time in the service was a huge asset in his pursuit of a career in show business. During that interview, Riggle also mentioned being a USMC reservist in Manhattan on 9/11 and working in the search and rescue operation at Ground Zero for a week after the terrorist attacks. Today, we hear that part of his story in much more detail. In this edition of "Veterans Chronicles," Riggle takes us moment by moment through the 9/11 attacks, from wondering how such an airplane plane accident could happen to realizing our nation was under attack, and from what it was like on the stunned streets of New York City to getting notified that his unit was being called up to help at Ground Zero.Riggle then describes the painstaking efforts to sift through six stories of rubble in hopes of finding survivors, the "bucket brigades" set up to prevent cave-ins, and how he nearly suffered a major injury during that time. Finally, he explains how he then volunteered to go back on active duty - a decision that would have him in Afghanistan within just a few weeks.

We didn't choose to live this life. In its most difficult moments, it's all too natural to ask the question, “What makes life worth living?” This question, so central to philosophy since ancient times, is what we explore in this episode with Nick Riggle, a professor of philosophy at University of California, San Diego. Riggle is the author of several books, most recently 2022's This Beauty: A Philosophy of Being Alive. Over the course of our conversation, we discuss aesthetics, which is the branch of philosophy concerned with beauty and art; the various ways that we, successfully or otherwise, have attempted to find meaning in life; why finding beauty and building an aesthetic community is so crucial to human well-being; and much more. In this episode, you'll hear about: 2:29 - Nick's path from being a pro-skater to becoming a philosophy professor and author 8:41 - How Nick approaches surveying philosophical thought through history10:22 - The importance that aesthetics and beauty play in Nick's studies 19:13 - What motivated Nick to write his book This Beauty21:04 - How Nick conceptualized answering the central question of his book23:51 - The takeaways that Nick personally found for what makes life worth living 29:15 - What it means to pay attention to the beautiful things in life 32:18 - Are some kinds of beauty and art “better” than others? 34:47 - The value of creating an aesthetic community 39:12 - Living an aesthetic life when your physical or mental state is limitedNick Riggle is the author of multiple books and publications, including This Beauty: A Philosophy of Being Alive (2022), Aesthetic Life and Why it Matters (2022), and On Being Awesome: A Unified Theory on How Not to Suck (2017). Riding Shotgun With Charlie #189 Sarah Riggle Attorneys for Freedom I've been going to Gun Rights Policy Conference for years now. I love that it's like a family reunion with old friends. It's also great to meet new people. Sarah Riggle is one of the people I met right at the end. I just had lunch on the last day with friends and we were walking back into the hotel. We ran into Sarah and her friend Laura Snyder, who was a guest on the Polite Society Podcast. I wanted to have Laura on the show but she had to take care of things at home and she said Sarah would be good to do a show with. So I got the cameras and we filmed a show. Sarah moved to the Phoenix area from Pennsylvania. She moved there with a long time friend about three years ago. This was her first GPRC. She's currently working in marketing for Attorneys For Freedom. With plans to get a marketing and graphic design degree, Sarah ended up in the restaurant business for several years. Making the move was a chance to try something new somewhere else. When she was young, she did a little bit of shooting growing up. But she realized she needed to get more serious about it when there was a shooting right outside of her house in Pennsylvania. Shocking it was as drug deal gone bad and the person who got shot did not want to go the hospital. We start off talking about what Attorneys On Retainer and Attorneys For Freedom do. Attorneys For Freedom is located in Phoenix. Attorneys On Retainer is all across the United States. They're a subscription based law firm, not an insurance program. They've had several clients over the last three years go purchase a firearm and found out doing the background check, that they're a prohibited person for something that may have been a misdemeanor and stopped them from being able to purchase a firearm. She also brings up that people who have been admitted to a mental health institution aren't able to pass background checks and that does stop people from getting help needed when they're in crisis. She brings up the great things that Hold My Guns (RSWC #092) and Walk The Talk America (RSWC #067) are doing. The interesting misconception about some of the self defense insurance policy programs is that if someone takes a plea deal, the insurance doesn't kick in and pay for things. You have to be the innocent party. If you admit guilt and take a plea, the insurance cannot cover acts that are not lawful and intentional. For example, your car insurance won't cover an accident that you caused on purpose. She also brings up that some of the insurance companies will not cover acts that happen with someone you know, particularly with domestic violence. Often what people don't think about are the other costs that go with a court case. Things like expert witnesses, investigations, and medical testing that may need to be done. Of course, the cost varies, but it can easily be $10,000-$15,000 that someone may need to pay an attorney up front just to start the case. Both Attorneys For Freedom and Attorneys On Retainer have YouTube channels and you can see some of what they're about there. Should legal services ever be needed, it's important to have a lawyer that is familiar with firearms, firearm cases, and other topics that are gun related. Often that is not your court appointed attorney. Let's get a few things straight, Sarah is not a lawyer and doesn't offer legal advice. Everyone needs to do research on any program they sign up for to help them with legal situations and the aftermath of using force in self defense. Favorite quotes: “It's great to see more responsible gun owners getting involved with how to help other responsible gun owners.” “No one is going to protect me but myself.” “If you're forced to defend your life and now you need to defend your freedom, that's exactly what we're there for.” “Attorneys On Retainer and Attorneys For Freedom we don't have any problem covering all of these circumstances.” Attorneys For Freedom Website https://attorneysforfreedom.com/ Attorneys For Freedom Facebook https://www.facebook.com/AttorneysForFreedom Attorneys For Freedom Instagram https://www.instagram.com/attorneysforfreedom/ Attorneys For Freedom YouTube https://www.youtube.com/@AttorneysForFreedomLawFirm Attorneys On Retainer Website https://attorneysonretainer.us/ Attorneys On Retainer YouTube https://www.youtube.com/@AttorneysOnRetainer Attorneys For Freedom X/Twitter https://twitter.com/freedomattorney Second Amendment Foundation https://secure.anedot.com/saf/donate?sc=RidingShotgun Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms https://www.ccrkba.org/ Please support the Riding Shotgun With Charlie sponsors and supporters. “To hear that there were people out there that were willing to help me out and willing to take care of me and give me everything that I needed to try and get better, that was life changing.” Welcome everyone to the It Matters To Me Podcast, a show that celebrates the random through 1-on-1 conversations with people and the passions they pursue. Today, my guest is Zach Riggle, former U.S. Marine Special Operator and now the COO for the Heroic Hearts Project. Their mission is to build a healing community that helps veterans suffering from military trauma recover and thrive by providing them with safe, supervised access to psychedelic treatments, professional coaching, and ongoing peer support. After Zach's eleven years and four combat deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, Zach separated from the military and attended MIT as a Sloan Fellow for Innovation and Global Leadership. And while you might think this is going to be a story of one success after another with a background like that, you'd be wrong. No, this is a conversation about Zach's own experience with PTSD and the deeply personal effect it had on him both mentally and physically. And how after a fortunate encounter with a fellow Marine Raider when he seemed to be at his lowest led Zach to an Ayahuasca retreat in Pero that was sponsored by the Heroic Hearts Project. With the stigma around plant-based medicines seemingly shifting across the nation as more and more stories like Zach's are told and backed up with solid scientific research, our talk couldn't be more relevant. It's one I truly treasured and once you listen to it I think you'll understand why. So let's dive right in, here's my talk with Zach Riggle. You may know Rob Riggle best as a very successful actor and comedian, but he is also a 23-year veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps with three significant overseas deployments under his belt.In this edition of "Veterans Chronicles," Riggle explains his unusual path of serving his nation while simultaneously pursuing a career in the arts and how his time in the Marine Corps turned out to be critical to realizing his dreams in the entertainment field. He also describes rescuing Americans and others during a civil war in Liberia and serving in Kosovo following the NATO air campaign to evict Serbia.Riggle also takes us into his reserve duty in New York City following the 9/11 attacks and his subsequent deployment to Central Command and Afghanistan in late 2001. And he shares stories of performing for American forces at USO shows and how his experience helps him and other actors prepare for roles related to the military. Finally, Riggle tells us why he loves hosting the American Veterans Center's "American Valor" television special each year.
Caring for someone with special needs is not only challenging but often isolating as well. The responsibilities that come with this role are emotionally heavy and offer no real “time off,” so caretakers spend a big part of their lives feeling overwhelmed by the pressures of their everyday lives. These responsibilities are usually for the long haul, and a good deal of the strain that comes with being a caretaker for someone with special needs centers on making the proper long-term preparations. Future housing considerations certainly top that list. When faced with significant challenges, we often research precedent — seeking effective solutions that have been tested and proven by others. But what if no such precedent is available? That's the situation Susan Riggle, our guest on the newest episode of Absolute Trust Talk, found herself in. The mother of twins — one of whom remains unable to say his own name, ask a question, or tie his shoe — Riggle began her journey to find an appropriate and effective housing solution for her special needs son in response to one very poignant question posed by his twin sister: “What's going to happen to Tommy when you're gone?” Unable to provide an appropriate answer, Susan began researching her options. A state employee at the time, she had plenty of contacts to reach out to, but found that nobody had any real answers. And as it turned out, they still don't today. So, believing herself to be part of a small and isolated group of caretakers faced with this situation, Susan attended a conference in Los Angeles and found more than 400 people in attendance — all of whom were in search of the solution to this very same problem. The bonds that were forged during that 2013 meeting — and the networking that resulted — gave rise to Living Unlimited. A nonprofit centered on creating solutions for the lack of special needs housing. As the Co-founder and Vice Chairman of Living Unlimited, Susan has found her journey ever since to be both immensely rewarding and often very demanding. In this episode of Absolute Trust Talk, she'll recount some of the substantial roadblocks she's faced, as well as the often-revolutionary approaches that Living Unlimited has created to provide special needs adults with a comfortable and rewarding housing situation that's capable of extending beyond the lives of their parents. It's a very captivating episode — Susan refers to her time at the helm of Living Unlimited as a “labor of love” while at the same time freely admitting that she's not sure if she would have embarked on her journey had she known just how challenging it would be. In this episode, we're going to discuss: The evolving challenges that make creative solutions to special needs housing so difficult to achieve How Living Unlimited puts its substantial experience to work to create viable special needs housing communities The revolutionary approaches that Living Unlimited has created and executed to solve these unique challenges How the families of special needs adults participate in the program Why Living Unlimited's approach to special needs housing is not only a more comprehensive solution than other options, but also offers more real-world practicality And more. If you're the parent of a special needs child — or are friends or family to someone who is — you likely know all too well about the myriad of difficulties that come with this role. Listen in as Susan provides invaluable insight into how families can solve their special needs housing challenges and explains how this can happen.

Hi Folks, for those of you who are familiar with the Ron King Show audio podcast, you know that most of the time we feature Christian bands, singers or gospel groups from the areas of western Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio and northern West Virginia. Well, instead of that, on this episode of the Ron King Show we have the pleasure of having as our guest, from the "big" city of Lone Pine, PA the excellent Christian comedian Mr. Randy Riggle. You may be wondering what's the difference between a Christian comedian and a regular secular comedian is and Randy gives us the answer to that question. Randy also talks about whats it's like to be on the road as a comedian for over forty years and some of the difficulties encountered in making a full time living at it. Randy loves to travel and has had the pleasure of meeting , and working with, some of the top comedians in the business over the years and we get to hear Randy tell us all about that also. During the interview, Randy does a great impression of singer Johnny Mathis which is quite funny; you won't want to miss that. I loved interviewing Randy; he's a lot of fun and I'm sure you'll enjoy listening to his interview as much as I did producing it. Thanks for listening! Ron King

This movie is to Mr & Mrs Smith what No Strings Attached is to Friends with Benefits... kinda the same... just with Ashton Kutcher. Is Rob Riggle always the 'former high-school quarterback turned gross womanizer' type? Is the best thing about this movie ACTUALLY the fight choreography?? Many know actor Rob Riggle as the guy who played a correspondent on The Daily Show. Or maybe him talking about the Catalina Wine Mixer with Will Ferrell in Step Brothers. But Riggle is a Jayhawk. He's a 1992 graduate with a degree in theater and film and comes back to Lawrence, a place that shaped him into the person he is today, as often as he can. Riggle's career path is one of perseverance and patience. He served in the Marines for 23 years and served in Afghanistan. He sorted through rubble at Ground Zero after 9/11. And while he was in the Marines reserve in New York City, he toiled in the comedy clubs, perfecting a craft and a dream that sometimes seemed out of reach. In a lesson that all of us can take to heart, his drive to fulfill his dream outweighed his thoughts of not even trying because his goal was too hard to reach.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
