Over its 50+ years Saturday Night Live has had many star making (and breaking) moments, including the coveted role of anchor on the show's Weekend Update news report. But when Seth Meyers departed that role for his own late night gig, who could have guessed that his successor would become the longest running anchor in show history. Colin Jost was born for the role, editing his high school newspaper, then becoming a cub reporter, then sending in a writing packet to SNL and getting hired in 2005. From there he became head writer, then he stepped into the Weekend Update slot which he (and long-time co-anchor Michael Che) have made must watch material. What will he do for an encore -- marry Scarlett Johansen? As always, find extended clips below and thanks for sharing our shows. Want more Colin Jost? The twice-yearly SNL joke swap has become a fun fixture of the show. In it, Jost and co-anchor Michael Che write jokes for each other that they must read live on air for the first time. Needless to say the results are gleefully inappropriate. https://youtu.be/-1uC5tBGlNg?si=rUKdClWZPf8JnQyy Colin's standup covers a broader range than Weekend Update, as in this bit from the Just for Laughs Festival. https://youtu.be/yPSFJwORLH0?si=8XsmAPKM7qdvATsn Most recently Colin has scored a major sketch role with his amped up portrayal of War Secretary Pete Hegseth. https://youtu.be/vZb1WO1_lGI?si=t0gKHXoxaP88w32b

Nancy’s son is having to miss school due to his broken arm, and he is supposed to be doing work on his laptop The teachers haven’t loaded any of the work yet, and Nancy told him not to email them about it... she didn’t want to have to help him with the school work. Colin Jost, a cast member from SNL, went down a bobsled track with an experienced driver. He said he had never been so terrified, and he thought he was going to die. We talked about moments in our lives where we felt that way. Hot Tea: Jelly Roll and his wife want to have twins via surrogate and IVF. Nancy’s son Ben goes to the doctor today for his arm. He has to get it set, and he isn’t going to be given any medicine for pain. Nancy is making her husband go with them so he can hold Ben down while the doctor does it. As Seen On TikTok: Ace Hardware pies are going viral. Lucky 7 for $50 to Farmacy Joey booked a charter fishing trip for his family’s trip to San Diego. His kids are super excited, but his wife is nervous. She said that the captain could be a murderous pirate. Joey and the kids have been making fun of her by saying pirate references like “Aye aye matey!” Nancy gave a keynote speech at a ceremony and completely winged it. Joey is baffled by how she can do it without preparing. We tested her abilities by having her speak on random topics. Chad & Cheese go full rebel mode with Kim Storin, the marathon-running, transformation-junkie CMO at Zoom, who just unleashed the company's biggest brand campaign ever: "Zoom Ahead." Featuring SNL's Bowen Yang in a hilarious workplace uprising (written and produced by Colin Jost's No Notes agency), the spot is a love letter to frustrated users everywhere—lampooning clunky competitors while reminding the world why people actually love Zoom. Kim dishes on reigniting that pandemic-era passion, pivoting from IT buyers to everyday users, embedding groundbreaking AI into workflows, expanding beyond meetings (hello, contact centers, events, and the fresh Bright Hire acquisition for recruiting), and fighting the short-term "coin-operated" mindset with real long-term brand building. She talks partnering with the C-suite for true ROI, the rise of "human-in-the-loop" over AI slop, empowering employees as brand evangelists, and why trust and customer-centric stories trump CEO monologues every time. Raw, strategic, and packed with insights for anyone in HR tech or marketing—this episode is a masterclass in keeping an iconic brand human in an AI world.
Mike started this podcast so that one day Michael Che would come on. Today is that day. In this all-timer episode, Mike and Che work out tons of jokes and discuss the advice Lorne Michaels gave to Che that he'll never forget, how Che went from designing and selling t-shirts on the street to being a stand-up comic, and what keeps him coming back to SNL. Plus, the time Che nearly did something to Colin Jost on air that he would really regret. Please consider donating to Food Bank For NYC Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Luke joins the show again from New York City, where he spent the night in Sing Sing (the karaoke bar, not the prison.) He also got Roy Donked at a famous jazz club. He and Andrew discuss the disastrous decision that Colin Jost and Pete Davidson made regarding a boat, which seems very relatable for some reason. And a recent reveal about the Louvre's security password is possibly even more relatable.
Leslie Jones has been a comedic force of nature for nearly 40 years. And in her new stand-special ‘Life Part 2' (streaming this Friday, Oct. 24 on Peacock), she displays more bravado and confidence on stage than ever. In this episode, Jones breaks down everything that went into getting to this moment in her career, from controversial breakout performance on SNL's “Weekend Update” to her difficult decision to walk away from that show after five seasons. She discusses her unique relationship with Lorne Michaels, her very real crush on Colin Jost, and working with “scared little boy” Donald Trump the week he hosted the show. Jones also gets into how much she wanted ‘The Daily Show' host gig and weighs on a new SNL cast that once again features zero Black women. It sure seems like everyone is just counting down the days until the Ryder Cup at this point. With minimal golf news and no PGA Tour event to discuss, Andy instead starts this episode with a tale from his latest round of golf. Playing at one of America's great championship courses, Andy decided he wanted to recreate an iconic moment and ended up almost hitting some folks enjoying a Tuesday afternoon lunch on the patio. It's been a big week for paying homage to iconic figures, as Brendan shares the latest Bob Uecker tribute from the Milwaukee Brewers. Brendan is aghast at the team reading and posting a fake letter from the deceased Uecker, which leads into a discussion about which ghosts this year's Ryder Cup teams should (allegedly) hear from. The Europeans have made it to Long Island and dressed in some... interesting... clothing for their first practice rounds at Bethpage Black. Justin Rose thinks that New Yorkers will become "caricatures" of themselves in the crowd and thinks that the VR preparation is a sign that things have gone too far. In actual golf being played this week, the ultimate Game Within a Game is underway on the LPGA circuit: can the unique winner streak continue at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship? With 18 of this year's winners in the field, the odds are in favor of this incredible streak living on. Andy is fired up about the Stephens Cup and the U.S. Mid-Am, both of which are already underway as of this recording. The Celebrity Ryder Cup rosters have been released with big names such as Toni Kukoč, Pau Gasol, and Brooklyn Beckham facing off against Eli Manning, Colin Jost, and "Sticks Boy " Noah Kahan. In substantive golf news, Amazon Prime has acquired some Masters streaming rights for Thursday and Friday and - as first reported on this podcast - the PGA Tour will not open the season in Kapalua due to the water issues in Maui.
Comedian and SNL writer KC Shornima might be the only Working It Out guest who has climbed Mount Kilimanjaro. KC and Mike get to the bottom of why she thrives in stressful situations like mountain climbing, camping on a glacier, and writing for Weekend Update. Mike asks KC some questions from her bosses, Michael Che and Colin Jost, and KC explains why she feels compelled to talk about difficult topics on stage. Please note: This episode contains discussion of sexual assault. Please consider donating to Theatre 202

Mike Feeney is funny, has fantastic hair, and deserves to be on television. A debate is sparked about which comedians are classically and unconventionally good looking. Bobby contends that Chris Distefano's features are a little off-kilter and no one agrees with him. In trying to name attractive comedians, Colin Jost's fitness came into question. For some reason, Christine believes that she can beat up Scarlett Johansson in a street fight.
