South-West UK based trio Neon Fields combine dark industrial rock with atmospheric synth and vocals packed with passion and emotion, to create their brand of Indie Electronic Rock. Their first single ‘Light Them Up' was described as “a complete masterpiece” by ERB Radio and, after the release of their second single ‘Cage of Lions', KMS Reviews described their signature style as ‘sophisticated darkness'. Formed in 2020 by Ed Barrett (lead vocals), Luke Russe (drums) and Piers Ward (keyboards/guitar), they have just released their third single ‘Bleak' which describes someone trapped within ice in a seemingly endless winter, longing for sunlight to set him free. A metaphor for what many have been feeling over the last 18 months… Their three releases are available on all streaming services and their explosive music video for ‘Light Them Up' can be found on YouTube. Enter the brand new mix series at JDNB… ‘Shadow Boxers.' A monthly guest mix, putting the spotlight on the finest selectors and producers this scene has to offer, invited to flex their sound for a cool 45 minutes. We're psyched to open this series with the raw sounds of Tuskan [AFT/Dread]. Tuskan, is a South-West UK based Producer and DJ, making and playing jungle drum & bass. Inspired by the recordings he made from One in Jungle on Radio One in the early Nineties, he is a first generation junglist, taking in the whole spectrum and history of the genre, with all it's influences, whilst remaining upfront as the genre expands and evolves. Tuskan has been stepping things up in 2019, building a studio, and crafting his own sound, bringing the best of analogue hardware and digital together. Recent tuition from Goldie's long time engineer and collaborator, Heist, has helped bring his sound from a self taught bedroom producer into the realms where he has seen releases on some of the scenes die hard labels like Ray Keith's Dread Recordings and support from the likes of Bladerunner, Serial Killaz and Rebel Mc AKA Congo Natty. Recent signings to Bristol based AFT Records, co-owned by one of the scenes top MCs, Carasel, has seen Tuskan's first Solo EP ‘the Bricks' released in October this year. With the EP being played on the BBC and gaining respect from legends like Nicky Blackmarket and Ed Solo, has set the pace for a slew of forthcoming releases on the AFT Label in 2020. All this, plus a long time coming collaboration with the vocalist J-Man, taking a huge influence from dancehall, which has be picked up by Heist for his Co-Lab imprint, along side a remix from the label boss himself! 2020 is looking strong for this jungle warrior. Our attitudes to food consumption and food production are at odds with the impact that they’re having on the environment. How can we make sure that we’re able to feed an ever-growing population in a world with a changing climate, shifting seasons and huge inequality? In this episode we take a look at the issues we face, both as a planet and as a society and meet the change-makers in our community of Bristol and South West UK, who are pushing the boundaries and helping to create a more positive future. This episode is hosted by former TEDxBristol speaker and environmental campaigner Natalie Fee. Natalie goes on a journey of discovery to learn about the extent of the problems we face and about what needs to be done to ensure that our future relationship with food is a sustainable one. Natalie meets Patrick Holden, founder and chief executive of the Bristol-based Sustainable Food Trust, to find out more about the impact that farming practices are having on the planet. We find out how one Bristol startup is developing the farms of the future out of an old industrial unit. Lettus Grow are developing indoor farms using aeroponic technology, we get taken on a tour of their hi-tech facility by co-founder Charlie Guy. Finally, Steph Wetherell of the Bristol Food Producers network joins Natalie to talk about the things that we can do on a grass roots level to ensure that we’re all doing our bit towards a more sustainable future. We also visit one of Bristol’s most sustainable, and most delicious restaurants, Poco Tapas in Stokes Croft and meet co-founders Jennifer Best and Ben Pryor who tell us why locally-sourced ingredients are so important to them. This episode was made possible thanks to TrueStart Coffee - find out more at truestartcoffee.com A big thank you to Jamie Pike for introducing us to some great contributors.

The research shows that the sexting phenomenon is not something we can just ignore. Some estimates of teen and young adult sexting rates run from as low as 4% to as high as 20%. Comparing the studies, it is safe to say 7-9% of older teens (14-17 years old) send sexts, while older age groups tend to be involved in sexting at higher percentages, perhaps 20% or even more. One survey released in 2016 found that 66% of teens and young adults have received a sexually explicit image, and 41% have sent one. One study’s statistics show that 1 in 5 teens admit to sexting. When 535 students from 18 schools in South West UK responded to a survey, 39% said at least one of their friends has “shared intimate pictures/videos” with a boyfriend or girlfriend. When the same students were asked how many incidents of sexting in the past year they were aware of, 50% said “one or two” incidents, 19% said “a few,” and 24% said it happens regularly or all the time (SW Grid for Learning). Sexting makes you vulnerable to social problems, problems with school or work, and even extortion or blackmail. Most sexting images are shared, and any image shared online or through text can be tracked down. The Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) estimates that 88% of self-made sexually explicit images are “stolen” from their original upload location such as laptop webcams or phones. Even if someone takes a picture without their face in it, they are still vulnerable, because every picture from a cell phone has metadata that can be traced. Sexting doesn’t only make you vulnerable to later exploitation. The culture around sexting can actually groom both the requester and the sender in the dynamic of sexual exploitation—where the requester pressures, manipulates, and coerces in order to get the desired image. 61% of all sexters who have sent nude images admit that they were pressured to do it at least once. A techy feast to sink your ears in to for this months guest mix, presenting RAZE (Neil Castle) he has graced the decks at many events across the South West UK for years, his mix is proof of this guys skill in tune selection and mixing..... Enjoy! xXx DJ Raze debuted in the South West in 1993, a few months on from when he first ever touched a pair of record decks. The Plymouth Warehouse proved to be of a huge influence with Raze diligently collecting the records he had heard every week from the big names he saw. This passion and enthusiasm lead to a set playing for Speed Promotions alongside Slipmatt, and a chance encounter following this meant he also span an impromptu set at the legendary Plymouth Pavilions for long standing rave promoters 'Obsessed' From Hardcore, as the years went on, the progression into Trance followed, and Raze landed a set at 'Bossanova' (Sound Factory) and continued to play for some years before taking a short break to raise his family. Now to the present, and the mixing bug has been caught again, with Raze holding residencies for TranceFormNation (Exeter) and Liquid Pulse (Plymouth), where he has performed alongside Mark EG, M-Zone, Signum, Joey Riot, Nick The Kid, Kidd Kaos, Tek-Tonic and many more.
