We'll hear about the formative experiences that haver shaped his sense of style and how that's played out in his career so far. Thanks again Charlie for being an ace guest. And if you want more with Charlie then hit subscribe because we'll be dropping another 15 minutes of fit pic breakdown goodness in your feeds later on this week. Honestly, it's a dead good un wit Charlie talking about the best type of jumper to make crop circles in, Saint Laurent cowboy shirts and perfect caps.Massive thanks to my pal Liam for making the road trip down to Stroud to help out on the recording on this one. This week Lisa was joined by podcast host, TV presenter and stylist Emma Lightbown to talk all things style. Emma mostly styles for TV and adverts and explains how the clothes the actors wear are crucial to telling the viewer who they are. This is also true in real life, what you wear tells a story about you. If you think about TV dramas, the characters are always dressed ina way that brings their character and back story to life so WE the viewer believe in their story. This is a great example of just how powerful visual/non-verbal communication really is! What you wear tells a story about you because that's a big part of how humans communicate with each other. We also discussed the changing face of the High Street - how it's so much harder to shop right now because so many shops are closing down. Emma shares her passion for Vinted shopping and we disagreed on the joys of shopping in TK Maxx! You've got to be in the mood to shop in there...! I hope you enjoy this week's episode. [Sponsored Episode] We were so delighted to partner with @homesense_uk for this episode, which has us exploring the aisles of Homesense and discovering the incredible range of scented candles (at *amazing* prices!) they have on offer there. PS: Did you know that Homesense is part of the TK Maxx family? So if you've ever found some scented candles there, just wait until you seen the HUGE aisles of fragrant possibilities at Homesense! (Suzy literally squealed. Very loudly. She'd still be browsing now if her taxi hadn't arrived). Suzy recently hosted a customer event at Homesense with none other than THE @rylan, who's been appointed the Scent Sommelier for Homesense (and with good reason: turns out he's just as scent-obsessed as we are, and *really* knows his stuff). He told her what his favourite scents of all time are (and how he scents each room) so of course we share that info with you, too…We're always talking about the importance of our sense of smell, and how vital it can be to our everyday lives. So, in this week's show we're chatting about how we can incorporate scent into our homes, and how you can choose the right candle (or mixture of scents) to elevate your mood and set a scented scene. AND Suzy chooses some candles as gifts for Nicola, and talks through why she selected each one (and the best types of candles to give if you're not sure of someone's favourite scents); plus we'll be revealing the nations favourite scents, as shown in a special survey Homesense conducted (which ones would YOU have chosen…?)

Welcome Royal Community, we're back with the second podcast episode instalment reviewing Prince Harry's memoir, Spare. We are tackling part two today which covers a frost-bitten todger, stopping poachers in South Africa, going to war and finally crying over his Mother's death. This jam-packed section has got a lot for us to get our teeth into. We also bring you the Royal engagements of the week and the most exciting Coronation news that we can't wait to share with you. We cannot wait for you to press play, so let's get to it.
You know the story. You've seen the headlines. Now hear the very first episode in our groundbreaking two-part series on the most explosive book of the year—Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex—and his shocking tell-all “Spare.” From Frogmore to Balmoral, Meghan's traumatized puppers to Meghan pretending not to know who Diana is, their first date at Soho House, is Harry the Kourtney?, poverty cosplay at TK Maxx, and tripping on shrooms in Courtney Cox's house—this is just the tip of the royal iceberg. God Save The Ginger.PLUS! In the VIP Lounge this Friday— the gals rub elbows with a host of celebrities at a party for [redacted], including [redacted] and [redacted] (who are dating!) MICHAEL Hello and a very warm welcome to Five in the Eye. It's me – Michael Ohajuru – back in the hot seat after a week away in the Big Apple. Otherwise known as New York, New York! Thanks so much to Julie in Paris for stepping in while I was talking about Black history at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Today, you're listening to show 0393 of Colourful Radio's weekly news review show. PHIL And this is Phil Woodford joining the globe-trotting Michael via Zoom and revealing that our top story this week is going to be the revelations in Prince Harry's book Spare and the impact on the Royal Family. Who we guess are probably being driven spare! MICHAEL At number two, it's that old question of ‘cancel culture'. Sir Hubert Parry was the man who wrote the classic him Jerusalem, but his name will no longer adorn the rooms of the Royal College of Music. Why? Because he has been judged to be racist. PHIL And at number three, we're catching up on a story that broke while Michael was away, but he has strong opinions, I'm sure, so has demanded its inclusion. Remember that Rishi Sunak said that everyone should study Maths until the age of 18? It certainly stirred up some controversy. MICHAEL What's story number four this week? Well, the boss of BrewDog was forced to shell out half a million smackers over a bungled promotion, which promised people they could find a solid gold can. The reality was that the beer tins were merely gold plated. PHIL And finally, we return to the Duke of Sussex. Always looks smart for public occasions, doesn't he, but you may not have realised he shops at budget store TK Maxx whenever there's a sale on. Zapraszamy do słuchania. Rory Sutherland is a British advertising executive who became fascinated with behavioral science. Between his TED talks, books and articles, he has become one of the field's greatest proponents. Rory is currently the Executive Creative Director of OgilvyOne, after gigs as vice-chairman of Ogilvy Group UK and co-founder of the Behavioural Sciences Practice, part of the Ogilvy & Mather group of companies. He is the author of The Spectator's The Wiki Man column and his most recent book, which we highly recommend, is Alchemy: The Dark Art and Curious Science of Creating Magic in Brands, Business, and Life. Our discussion with Rory was original published in January 2020, but Rory's evergreen insights continue to be popular with our listeners so we decided to republish this episode. You can also listen to Rory discuss his latest book Transport for Humans: Are We Nearly There Yet? alongside his co-writer Pete Dyson, in episode 290. We start this discussion with Rory by asking him about his book and some of his insights from it. His approach to advertising, marketing and product design is informed by his ability to look for the things that aren't there. He once described a solution to improving customer satisfaction on the Chunnel Train between London and Paris by suggesting that a billion dollars would be better spent on supermodel hosts in the cars than on reducing ride time by 15 minutes. He's a terrifically insightful thinker. Our conversation ran amok down all sorts of rabbit holes, as expected, including ergodicity, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's “The Silver Blaze,” high-end audio and the dietary habits of the world-famous runner, Usain Bolt. In Kurt and Tim's Grooving Session, we discuss some of our favorite takeaways from Rory's conversation including, “The Opposite of a Good Idea is a Good Idea” and others. And finally, Kurt teed up the Bonus Track with a final reflection and recap of the key points we discussed. As always, we would be grateful if you would write us a quick review. It helps us get noticed by other folks who are interested in podcasts about behavioral science. It will only take 27 seconds. Thank you, and we appreciate your help. © 2022 Behavioral Grooves Links Rory Sutherland: https://ogilvy.co.uk/people/rorys “Alchemy: The Dark Art and Curious Science of Creating Magic in Brands, Business, and Life”: https://amzn.to/3xbibt3 “Transport for Humans: Are We Nearly There Yet?”: https://amzn.to/3cZPyIy Episode 290, Transport Your Thinking; Why We Need To Reframe Travel | Rory Sutherland & Pete Dyson: https://behavioralgrooves.com/episode/transport-rory-sutherland-pete-dyson/ “Friction”: https://www.rogerdooley.com/books/friction/ Murray Gell-Mann, PhD: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murray_Gell-Mann Robin Williams “Scottish Golf”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jx8TzR1-n4Q Don Draper: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don_Draper Ergodicity: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ergodicity John James Cowperthwaite: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_James_Cowperthwaite SatNav: https://www.macmillandictionary.com/us/dictionary/american/satnav Daniel Kahneman, PhD: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daniel_Kahneman What You See is All There Is: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thinking,_Fast_and_Slow Arthur Conan-Doyle: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arthur_Conan_Doyle Sherlock Holmes “Silver Blaze”: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Adventure_of_Silver_Blaze Tim Houlihan's Blog on “Silver Blaze”: https://tinyurl.com/ufumkj6 Ben Franklin T-Test: https://tinyurl.com/wocdsdk Volkswagen Fighter: https://tinyurl.com/qpyqh87 David Ogilvy: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Ogilvy_(businessman) Jock Elliot: https://www.theguardian.com/news/2005/dec/01/guardianobituaries.media Battle of Leyte Gulf: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Leyte_Gulf Croft Audio: http://www.croftacoustics.co.uk/main.html Mu-So single speaker: https://www.naimaudio.com/mu-so WFMT Chicago: https://www.wfmt.com/ TK Maxx: https://www.tkmaxx.com/uk/en/ Berlin Hotel with Big Lebowski: https://www.michelbergerhotel.com/en/ Shure: https://www.shure.com/en-US/products/microphones?lpf[top][types][]=microphones Zoom: https://zoom.us/ Satisficing: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satisficing Usain Bolt: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Usain_Bolt Sheena Iyengar, PhD: https://www.sheenaiyengar.com/ Jelly Jar Study: https://tinyurl.com/oo6g6eb Big Band Music: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_band Musical Links Aretha Franklin: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aretha_Franklin Southern California Community Choir: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_California_Community_Choir Abba: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ABBA Felix Mendelssohn: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Felix_Mendelssohn George Frideric Handel: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Frideric_Handel Johann Sebastian Bach: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johann_Sebastian_Bach Johann Christian Bach: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johann_Christian_Bach
