The Joy of Cruising Podcast

This week on The Joy of Cruising Podcast, I am delighted to welcome Dennis Littley, better known as Chef Dennis to his prodigious fan base— 830,000 followers on his Facebook account, A Culinary Journey with Chef Dennis, 73,000 on Twitter and 72,000 on his Instagram accounts Ask Chef Dennis & Chef Dennis Travels. Chef Denniswas featuredin my second cruising book, Cruising Interrupted amzn.to/3seFU8y in a section called “Cruisers Like You and Me…Sort Of.” By 2019 when I interviewed him for Cruising Interrupted, Dennis had gone through an amazing career journey—and I longed to share his story with the cruise community. Chef Dennis epitomized a “Cruiser Like You and Me…Sort Of.” He had only done his first cruise—Disney Dream a couple of years prior—but did he ever have a story to tell. That career journey I mentioned was from professional chef to culinary instructor, to food blogger, to travel blogger, to global brand ambassador for the likes of Visit Spain, Madrid Tourism, and Barcelona Tourism; Discover Atlanta, Visit Greensboro, and Visit Florida; Waldorf Astoria Orlando; Margaritaville Resorts, Omni Resorts, Disneyworld, SeaWorld, and numerous others. And, Chef Dennis had a particular focus on small-ship luxury cruising. From the time of that first cruise in 2017 to when I met him in 2019, Chef Dennis sailed exotic itineraries on behalf of Viking—several river cruises; a European Waterways Northern Burgundy Barge Cruise on La Belle Époque; CrosiEurope; and UnCruise. Here is a brief excerpt from Ask Chef Dennis, Cruising Interrupted: http://www.cruisinginterrupted.com/blog/excerpt-chap-13-ask-chef-dennis-cruisers-like-you-and-mesort-ofSupport the show

RUN 2022 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend 10K was our race of choice when returning to this weekend after many years.  Our goal was to enjoy the weekend and have a blast with as many fellow runners as we could, but also enjoy the time after the race when exploring and indulging without having a second race to complete this time.   EAT Bull and Bear at the Waldorf Astoria Orlando had a serving team Toni, Jeff, and Javier that took care of our table, and this team knew exactly what we needed and anticipated our every request.  Antoine, assistant manager, was very attentive to our table and all others.  You can tell that service is an art and a science they have mastered here. From our appetizers and salads to our entrees and dessert, this was a meal for the ages. Yes, we would call this place one for a very special occasion and a more upscale meal.  Reservations, you should make them. We had enough food to feed an army, and each morsel was one to be savored.  It is a steak dinner with sides to rival the best steakhouses in the country.  We break down what we had this week to celebrate our return to Marathon Weekend . DRINK Bull and Bear at the Waldorf Astoria Orlando has an incredible cocktail menu.  Was there an Old Fashioned? Of course.  So you know we had to have it.  It was served complete with a table-side show!  That was not the only cocktail we sampled that night.  Tune in to hear about other tasty beverages, too! THAT'S A WRAP!   Thanks to everyone who met up with us at this race weekend!  Check them out at: Emily is at https://www.instagram.com/run_eat_disney/  Ryan is at https://www.instagram.com/ryanrunsdisney/  Ana is at https://www.instagram.com/ana.runs.on.coffee/  Briana is at https://www.instagram.com/brianarunsdisney/ Maria is at https://www.instagram.com/perfectlyimperfectmaria/  Susy is at https://www.instagram.com/susyruns50/  If I left anyone out, let me know and I'll come back and update these show notes!
