Ashley shared details of her July 15–20 Disney World trip celebrating her 30th birthday with her girlfriend and brother. They stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge and Pop Century and enjoyed highlights across Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, and a bonus visit to Animal Kingdom. Despite crowds, rain, a forgotten ID, and summer heat, they stayed flexible with spontaneous plans, discovered that "just ask" often paid off, and finished with both resorts as favorites. Send us Fan MailThis episode is your complete Disney World planning guide for anyone stepping into the role of lead planner for an upcoming trip, whether this is your first time at Disney World or your tenth. I'm walking through my real planning process using our friends who are finally taking their first trip after years of us trying to convince them, but every tool and tip in this episode works no matter how many times you've already been.I start with the three decisions every Disney World trip planner has to make before anything else can fall into place: when you're going, how you're getting there, and where you're staying. Once those are locked in, you can start dissecting your days, but not before. I talk through how we landed on our own dates, why we chose to fly instead of drive this time, and how we balanced a moderate resort stay with a couple of nights using our Disney Vacation Club points so we could stretch our budget during one of the most expensive times of year to visit. From there I get into something most people skip completely when they're figuring out how to plan a Disney World trip, which is understanding your own planning personality, along with the personalities of everyone else coming with you. I share the Disney Enneagram quiz I use, paired with Disney characters, so you can see how a Helper plans differently than an Achiever or a Peacemaker, and why knowing this ahead of time can save you from burnout and save your group from mismatched expectations once you're actually at the parks.I also share the free Disney World planning workbook I use for every single trip we take, and I walk through exactly how I use it with first-timers. That includes a ride questionnaire so I know ahead of time who gets motion sick, who's never been on a roller coaster, and who has specific things they love or hate, like inversions, launches, or dark rides. I cover the Disney family interest survey, which helps me figure out favorite movies and characters before we ever start building a Disney World itinerary, and the Disney vacation style quiz, which is especially useful if you're traveling with another family or group of friends and want to know ahead of time how loose or detailed their vacation style tends to be.This episode also covers the Disney World booking window, including exactly when dining reservations, Enchanted Extras, and Lightning Lane booking open depending on your check-in date. I explain why I always tell people not to touch their actual day-by-day planning until 90 days before the trip, since that's when your 60-day dining window is approaching and most major announcements or refurbishments have already been made. I also share the six-day outlook sheet I use for early brainstorming, which lets you jot down restaurants or experiences you've heard about without locking anything in too soon. You'll also hear about the Disney World packing list system I use for every vacation, not just Disney trips, including how I shop sales year-round and keep everything organized in one vacation box so nothing gets lost between the time I buy it and the day we leave. I talk about the outfit planner I use for coordinating looks for special dinners or park days, and why I don't expect guests traveling with us to match, even though my own family loves doing it.Toward the end, I get into the difference between genuine Disney magic and manufactured magic, especially when it comes to character interactions, dressing kids in bounding outfits, and why some of what you see online from other Disney creators is planned more intentionally than it looks. My goal with this podcast has never been to chase virality. It's to make sure you have the facts so you can have a truly magical trip, whether that means dressing up for extra character attention or just showing up and enjoying the experience as it comes. If you're the one in charge of pulling off a magical trip for your family, your friends, or anyone experiencing Disney World for the first time, I hope this episode gives you a clear, repeatable framework you can use for this trip and every one after it. And if you know someone getting ready for their first Disney World vacation, please share this episode with them so they can start planning with a little less overwhelm and a lot more excitement.Support the showHey Welcome to Well Hello Magic!Well Hell Magic Website Instagram YouTube Pinterest Amazon Shop LTK ShopReady to Plan your Disney Vacation?Free Planning GuideJoin The Newsletter
Join us as Sheila and Ric chat with friend Carly Grezlik about her recent Walt Disney World vacation with her family. For Carly, it was her first visit to the parks in more than three years, and this trip was extra special as she introduced her husband, Matt, and 12-year-old daughter, Kerrigan, to the magic for the very first time. Along for the adventure was daughter Riley, celebrating her 19th birthday and already a seasoned Walt Disney World veteran alongside her mom. Over four fun-filled days, the family stayed at Disney's All-Star Movies Resort and made the most of every moment, often going from park opening until park close. Kerrigan conquered her very first roller coaster aboard Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, while the entire family agreed that Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind was the standout attraction of the trip. They also explored EPCOT's Kidcot Fun Stop Passport, creating memories throughout the World Showcase. Despite real-feel temperatures soaring to nearly 110 degrees, the family found surprisingly manageable crowds and packed an incredible amount into their vacation. The trip concluded in unforgettable fashion with Disney's new Starlight Parade—Carly's favorite Disney parade to date—followed by Happily Ever After from a perfect viewing spot directly in front of Cinderella Castle. Carly also shares some fun statistics from their vacation, including walking 34.5 miles in just 4½ days, taking home 20 Gideon's cookies, enjoying three Gideon's Peanut Butter Cold Brews, checking off five countries while Drinking Around the World, and, most importantly, making endless magical memories together. Join Luis and Ric as they revisit the movie that helped launch the modern superhero era: X-Men (2000). More than twenty-five years after its release, does the film still hold up? The guys discuss their favorite scenes, standout performances, memorable moments, and the casting choices that helped define Marvel movies for an entire generation. Beyond the action and special effects, they also explore the deeper themes that have made X-Men endure for decades. From Magneto's origins in Auschwitz during the Holocaust to the ongoing struggles of mutants seeking acceptance in a fearful world, the film presents powerful ideas about prejudice, discrimination, identity, and belonging. The conversation also examines why many viewers have connected the mutant experience to the real-world experiences of LGBTQ+ individuals and other minority communities who have faced exclusion, misunderstanding, or discrimination. The guys discuss how these themes continue to resonate with audiences today and why the X-Men story remains one of Marvel's most meaningful allegories. Whether you're a longtime Marvel fan or experiencing these films for the first time, grab your black leather uniform and join us as we take a fresh look at the movie that started it all for Marvel's merry mutants. We're checking into a brand-new game of Disney Truth or Dare: Resort Edition—where the hot takes are strong, the choices are painful, and absolutely no Walt Disney World hotel is safe. After tackling the parks, it was time to turn our attention to the resorts—and things got surprisingly intense. From impossible monorail resort eliminations and brutally honest opinions about overrated hotels, to debates over the best lobby smell, transportation system, pool, and nighttime atmosphere, we put each other on the spot with random Truth or Dare questions pulled straight from the hats. The rules are simple: pick Truth or Dare, draw a random prompt, and answer honestly. No skipping, no changing your answer halfway through, and no hiding behind “well, it depends.” That means some strong opinions were shared… and some may upset even the most loyal Disney resort fans. Over the course of the episode, we each answered 10 randomly selected questions, and along the way, there were plenty of laughs, a few moments of genuine shock, and at least a couple answers that immediately sparked debate. Whether you're loyal to the monorail loop, obsessed with Crescent Lake, love the Skyliner resorts, or proudly defend Port Orleans French Quarter with your whole heart, this episode is packed with fun Disney resort discussions that every Walt Disney World fan can jump into. So grab your favorite lobby scent, settle into your favorite resort chair, and play along with us as Disney Truth or Dare heads to the hotels!
