It's February which means it's time for the biggest holiday in romance — Derek Craven Day! We're so thrilled to be able to celebrate this remarkable man—born in a drainpipe, named himself, turned to a life of spectacle stealing—with all of you! This year, we're so excited to have friend of the pod and of Cravens, Sanjana (follow her on TikTok at baskinsuns), to chat with us about her landmark research: A Comprehensive Categorization of Kleypas Heroes. We laugh, we get serious, and yes, we even talk about Zachary Bronson. — calm down, Bronsonettes. Also — it just feels right that we're announcing Fated Mates Live on Derek Craven Day! Join us in Brooklyn, NY, at the gorgeous William Vale Hotel, on March 23rd! Join us along with a collection of special guests and a roomful of other romance-obsessed listeners for a night of romance shenanigans at a live taping of Fated Mates! While we're never sure quite how it's going to go, we can guarantee there will be books, booze and bantr…and you'll leave full of joy from all the fun. We've even got The Ripped Bodice on hand to sell books, and the room will be available for hanging with other Firebirds after the live! Tickets and info are at fatedmates.net/live.Next week, we're deep diving on Natalie Caña's A Dish Best Served Hot. Find it at Amazon, B&N, Apple Books, Kobo or your local indie. If you just can't get enough of us, consider joining our Patreon! You get an extra episode of banter every month and access to the Fated Mates discord, full of people who love romance as much as we do. It's pretty great, we have to say. Learn more at patreon.com/fatedmates. Show NotesWelcome Sanj. You can find her on TikTok or twitter. Her “Comprehensive Categorization of Kleypas Heroes” below went through several iterations during the pandemic, you're looking at v4. Lots of people have organized their thoughts about Kleypas characters, we also liked this one that's a Venn Diagram.Kate Clayborn joined us in 2021 to address a deeply silly list of questions and scenarios submitted by Magnificent Firebirds. It is absolutely worth a second listen. In 2023, we dropped That's So Craven. And then there's our Dreaming of You read along. If you're looking for hard data about what Derek Craven would or would never do, or just want to browse some absurd memes, the official Derek Craven Day master page has you covered. There are a few new memes this year and an answer to an important new question about Derek shopping at Winterborne's. Finally, the YouTube version of the 2021 Derek Craven Day episode will light up any display from phone to TV with an exhaustive list of Derek Creaven would/never scenarios. You can turn down the sound and just have it loop all day long. It's very possible that only Eric thinks this is a good idea, but you never know. Oh, and this.

It's Derek Craven Day 2023—empirically the best romance holiday of February—and we're celebrating in traditional fashion by talking about why there are two types of Lisa Kleypas readers: The ones who think Derek Craven is the best hero, and the ones who are wrong. If you've been with us for any length of time at all, you know we are mildly obsessed with Lisa Kleypas's heroes, her writing, the way she writes objects into her books as talismans of emotion, and the way she injects excellent romance directly into our veins every single time. This year, to celebrate this most high holy of romance days, we asked all of you to help us by filling up a Google spreadsheet with things other Kleypas heroes do in their books…because while St. Vincent and Winterborne will never get a holiday all to themselves, they're pretty great dudes. Enjoy, friends. It's -11 degrees on the East Coast, so we give you permission to hang out in bed all day and read a book by Lisa Kleypas. Our first read along of 2023 (in February) is Tracy MacNish's Stealing Midnight—we've heard the calls from our gothic romance readers and we're delivering with this truly bananas story, in which the hero is dug out of a grave and delivered, barely alive, to the heroine. Get ready. You can find Stealing Midnight (for $1.99!) at Amazon, B&N, Kobo, or Apple Books.

When it's boiling add the pasta and cook until al dente. Drain, but reserve the pasta water.Meanwhile, as the pasta cooks, heat up a large skillet to about medium high and crack the eggs into a bowl and whisk, adding a little water. Add a small teaspoon full of pesto. Add a tiny bit of salt and some pepper to the eggs. Give it a final stir/whisk to combine. When the pasta is done and draining, and the skillet is hot, spray it with cooking spray and pour the eggs into it. Be sure not to let the eggs brown, moving them around quickly. They'll cook fast, as soon as they're almost set, throw in the pasta and the rest of the pesto. I didn't measure the pesto so I'm guessing it was about ¼ cup but honestly could have been more. Measure with your heart.Make a little well in the center of the pan and toss in the cream cheese and a little pasta water (like ¼ cup). Stir to melt the cream cheese but make sure you're moving the eggs too so they don't brown. Alternatively, you could mix the cream cheese and pesto together before putting it in the pan.  Taste and season with salt and pepper adding more pesto, or pasta water if needed. This episode was recorded on January 18, 2023 and released on January 22, 2023.Socials:Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/cozylandpod Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/cozylandpod/    Twitter: https://twitter.com/Cozylandpod     Say hello at: cozylandpod@gmail.com Credits:Hosted by: Melissa Oliveri and Amy Lotsberg Produced by Melissa at Phaeton Starling Publishing and Amy Lotsberg at Collected Sounds Media, LLC.Theme song “Electric Cozyland” and segment music by Cannelle https://melissaoliveri.com/   Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

We would say “yes” to Marrying Winterborne!  Who wouldn't want to say “I do” to Lisa Kleypas' Rhys?Rhys Winterborne is amazing, full stop!  We met the restless department store owner in Cold-Hearted Rake and we met the ultimatum making man in this book. Our plant sister, Helen Ravenel didn't want to let go of the Welshman and finally did something naughty.  She restored her betrothal and got a smaller engagement ring to Rhys' dismay.  But she had to agree to Rhys' answer of never losing her, Helen loses her innocence. Then Helen finds more information about her true parentage.  She didn't expect Rhys hating the man who spasmed in his loins with her mother, and that she has a sibling. Rhys was a smart business man, and he sometimes hires a private investigator.  He finds out Helen met with his enemy and she went to a dodgy area to find her sibling.  He gave Helen the chance to tell him her secrets but he didn't get them.  Helen never thought about blackmailing Rhys as her “father” wanted her to, or for Rhys being tied to her scandal.  Luckily he had his investigator because he didn't know the truth until she was waiting to train-ride away without a good-bye.We sometimes share what or who we're indifferent.  Sometimes we don't want to burden others so we don't share our secrets.  The only way to know if the person we love will accept us in spite of challenges is to share our burden to see if the issues could be overcome.  Join us as we discuss how the right person will completely accept us, and tell us to “try it.  Try to leave me, and see what happens!”DRAWING ROOM DISCUSSIONS –Friend of the Pod Katrina @literarylovebooksEmbroidery“OFFICIAL, UNOFFICIAL BOOK REVIEW”/LISTICLE – 6:31Featuring –Lisa KleypasMarrying WinterborneRavenels serieswww.lisakelypas.comwww.facebook.com/lisakleypaswww.instagram.com/lisakleypas“POT-TAIL PONDERING” – 32:20Angel's EnvyKentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey Finished in Port Wine Barrelswww.angelsenvy.comwww.facebook.com/AngelsEnvyBourbonwww.instagram.com/angelsenvywww.twitter.com/Angels_EnvyPlant ladiesF*ck, Marry, Kill – Rhys Winterborne, Sebastian St. Vincent, Henry GoldingNext – “Devil in Spring” by Lisa Kleypas with Friend of the Pod Gigi @gigireadsromance Hosts - Toni Rose & Wendy Woo Email - litwallflowerspodcast@gmail.com Follow on www.instagram.com/litwallflowerspodcast Shop at https://www.zazzle.com/store/lit_wallflowers/products Website https://linktr.ee/litwallflowers Lit Wallflowers is part of the Frolic Podcast Network.  You can find more outstanding podcasts to subscribe to at Frolic.media/podcasts!

This week, Toni and Wendy each wish they had cake and a quizzing glass when reading “Say Yes to the Marquess” by Tessa Dare!Miss Clio Whitmore eventually turned into Miss Wait-more within her eight years of waiting for her betrothed to return from duty to crown and country. Tired of waiting, she visited the brother to her fiancé to sign dissolution of engagement papers. Although Rafe had feelings for Clio since childhood, he instead went to her castle and started wedding planning with her in hopes that within weeks she would get excited about getting married. The more time they spent together, the more they learned of each other and admiration grew. When she grew tired of waiting, Sleeping Beauty woke up and decided to apply her acquired knowledge from refinement training to owning and operating a brewery. Rafe was also training to becoming the boxing champion again, especially when he and Clio decided to be together and wanted to be a provider too. Clio may hate being called Miss Wait-more, but she needed the wine tasting classes, home management training, and her recently inherited castle to get to her goal of running a pale ale producing estate. Rafe could have walked out of the shadows years ago to have their first dance at her coming out ball and be with Clio instead his brother, but how would he have provided for her when he hadn’t made a name for himself yet? They say the best is yet to come, and if Clio didn’t get engaged to a Marquess and have refinement training during her waiting period, then she wouldn’t have all the knowledge and skills she needed for a prosperous estate. Rafe realized that they would have struggled if he and Clio coupled when they were younger. Sometimes, it’s best to wait and take the time to mature ourselves before having a perfect life with our perfect significant other.
