Give Me That D: A Disney Channel Original Movie Breakdown Podcast
On this week of GMTD we are befuddled, shocked, and frankly upset at what has to be, hands down, the kookiest movie we've ever laid our eyes on; You Lucky Dog. Thank God we have Rasheeda Moore here to help us make sense of this movie. If you thought Kirk Cameron couldn't be more appalling you haven't seen him BECOME a dog. That's right, he's not only a dog psychic but somehow can channel a dog named Lucky- it's as horrifying as it sounds! This movie has a doggy murder plot, gum balls that make their own gravy, a grown man playing with toys in a tub, Uncle Phil and more leather shoes then one can count. This is a ride! So buckle up and enjoy! Don't forget to rate, review and subscribe!
In this week's episode, we dissect You Lucky Dog, which was released on June 27, 1998. This film was directed by Paul Schneider and starred Kirk Cameron and James Avery. After a short hiatus, Josh and Noelle are back for more! For our fifth episode, we are diving deep into the bowels of Disney Channel Original Movies to bring you a special episode where we discuss 5 of their biggest misfires! It’s time for a Disappointing DCOM Dump! We will be talking about the following films: Horse Sense’s ugly stepsister, Ready to Run (2000); 90 minutes of Hawaiian background noise, Rip Girls (2000); Disney's Guide To Murder starring Banana Enthusiast Kirk Cameron, You Lucky Dog (1998); Disney’s Benjamin Button contract fulfillment for Tahj Mowry, The Poof Point (2001); and one of the most dull films of all time, 2001’s The Jennie Project! We rate all 5 of these flops from least painful to most painful—though a convincing defense mounts for one film that ranks as a personal favorite. What ‘science experiment gone haywire’ DCOM movies are better than The Poof Point (spoiler alert: all of them)? Which DCOM is the equivalent of “Nothing” in Perks of Being a Wallflower? Which of your two hosts has a unique story about meeting Tahj Mowry that’s at least 10x more entertaining than the film itself? Find out what’s in store for future episodes, and why Disney Channel Original Movies hold such a special place in our hearts, as we ‘Rip Girl’ into these duds. We'd love to hear from you! Welcome to DCOMs for Days podcast hosted by Angie Noriega and Ilana LaGraff. This week we cover THE WORST DCOM, in our biased opinion, You Lucky Dog (1998). Kirk Cameron and friends (RIP James Avery & Taylor Negron) and wife (!?!?!) round out this goofball comedy about a supposedly grown man(?) who comes into extreme wealth by way of a dog who is immune to the dangers of chocolate. Was this the movie that made Kirk Cameron leave heathen Hollywood? It's Episode Number 2, y'all! Get ready for You Lucky Dog, because it's got something for everyone- mayoral threats, biting a woman's a**, and gumballs that make their own gravy. You lucky dog! That's what you'll be saying to yourself when you watch this out of control mindtrip where a man who could once telepathically understand dogs relearns his ability when a dog needs him to help secure the estate of his wealthy owner. If only understanding dogs was this man's sole power. No, when excited, the dog's entire consciousness is transferred in to the man's body and he begins to become the dog, which is super fucking helpful when the dog has to testify in court. What the hell are we watching? Madness. Aren't we all glad we live in a world where this exists!? You Lucky Dog, indeed. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/bmoviebreakdown/support

The follow up DCOM from the director of You Lucky Dog, a cool looking alien on the poster, and in the first great year for DCOMs in history. What could possibly go wrong? Ruh-roh. Maybe this podcast was a bad idea. Join Toni and Ruben as they discuss 1998's You Lucky Dog, where they objectify Kirk Cameron, praise doggie acting, and dissect everything wrong with this shitty movie.
Jacob and KC dig into the second DCOM, "You Lucky Dog," starring Kirk Cameron as a Dog Psychiatrist...or is it Dog Psychic? Apparently the two titles are interchangeable in this 90 minute televised decent into madness with performances that are for the dogs.
The thrilling conclusion to the question posed last week, what is You Lucky Dog about? Stick around, Joe and Mikayla will tell you everything. So stay, stay, good boy. Food and Drink: Drink- Flying Dog Doggy Style IPA available wherever craft beers are sold. Food- Puppy Chow Recipe found at https://joyfoodsunshine.com/puppy-chow-recipe/ Ingredients 1 cup semisweet or dark chocolate chips* 1 cup creamy peanut butter** 6-7 cups Rice Chex Cereal*** 1-2 cups powdered sugar Instructions Melt peanut butter and chocolate together, either on the stovetop or in the microwave. Next, add 3 cups of cereal to a large bowl. Pour 1 cup of your chocolate/peanut butter mixture over the cereal. Add 3 more cups of cereal to the bowl and then pour the rest of the chocolate/peanut butter mixture on top. Stir until the cereal is evenly coated. If there are pools of chocolate/peanut butter at the bottom of your bowl, add more cereal 1/4 cup at a time until all that deliciousness is coating your cereal. Remember we WANT clumps, so do NOT add too much cereal! Let the mixture cool slightly (I throw mine in the fridge or outside on my porch if it's cold out). You do not want it to harden! Once your mixture is at or below room temperature, add 1 cup of powdered sugar. Mix until combined. Let cool for about 15 minutes. Add more powdered sugar 1/4 cup at a time until your cereal is coated to your satisfaction. Store in an airtight container at room temperature, if it lasts more than 0.3 seconds. Adjusted measurements: 4 Tablespoons Semisweet/Dark Chocolate Chips 4 Tablespoons creamy peanut butte 1.5 cups of Rice Chex Cereal 6 Tablespoons powdered sugar Music is provided by Tubebackr Find them at : https://soundcloud.com/tubebackr --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
