[Now], I have the decision-makers reaching out to me and saying 'Hey, we love your stuff, we want to work with you.' And they just sort of make it happen."The biggest challenge that companies face with data privacy today, says Debbie: "If a company doesn't do anything, they say, 'Oh, forget data privacy. It doesn't bother me or whatever.' What they're starting to see is the data that they used to get free-flowing, is gonna start to dry up. Maybe some of the customers they were working with may not work with them anymore because they're putting more stipulations within contracts."Debbie on staying consistent with your content creation: "I think people don't understand how important consistency is. And I'm not gonna make a big deal about whatever it was that I did. It was a mile, I jogged a mile, it was a 12-minute mile. Okay, not impressive. They're trying to not get noticed. They don't wanna be noticed as bad."On the Mayer Principle and being the most advanced, yet acceptable, says Paul: "As long as you know the audience's why, your customer's why, and as long as they're aligned, you've got the acceptable part, which means that people look at you and identify, yep, you absolutely are authorities in your field." Connect with Paul through the link below: LinkedIn -  https://www.linkedin.com/in/dreamingforaliving/Website - https://www.dreamingforaliving.com/ Learn more about Chris in the link below: LinkedIn (Chris) - https://www.linkedin.com/in/decker-christopher/ Also, you can join our community by checking out @salescast.community. This way, the barrier for entry is low, and you focus on the essentials first.  HIGHLIGHTS You don't need to start with the best equipment right away Start off with the simplest tools first Hone your skills and master your current equipment before upgrading QUOTES Chris on why you don't need to start with the most expensive tools right away: "Starting out with your phone, starting with a cheaper mic, starting out with something a little bit simpler is going to allow you to master that equipment and then as you progress as a storyteller, as a podcaster, as a content creator, progressing your competency, ability, storytelling, all these things, then you'll reach this point where you're like, ‘Now I'm becoming intermediate.' It drives a lot of really good alignment internally when you can just share with everyone that firsthand experience of hearing the customer rant, rave excitedly or frustratingly about something."Richard on why Fathom was born: "Two years ago I was doing a ton of zoom calls. Some 200 zoom calls in the first six weeks of the year, a lot of it user research. And it led to me being really frustrated trying to talk to people [while] taking notes. It led to me being really frustrated with sharing this to my team and them not being a good representation of the call."Why Richard prefers to target early adopters: "The people that we reach through the podcast, it's not about, is this gonna help 10x our growth. If done from a place of service, content creation can be very rewarding both for you and your audience. However, too many people think of content creation solely as a way to advance their own interests instead of looking for ways to provide value and help other people. In this episode of the Content-Led Growth Podcast, our hosts Chris and Collin talk about changing your mindset as a content creator and prioritizing long-term goals over immediate but often fleeting short-term gains.  HIGHLIGHTS It's better to give than to receive Always choose long-term gains over the short-term onesDon't make others' successes as the barometer for your ownThere's a time and place for self-promotionIf you're trying to get viral, you probably won't QUOTES Collin on having a new mindset about content creation: "Your mindset has to shift. It can't be about ‘what can I get from the platforms, it's got to be all about what I can give to the platforms.'"Chris on focusing on a longer-term goal over short-term satisfaction:  If all we're looking at is getting immediate value, however many leads or interactions I got today, and we stayed narrowly focused on the micro, it can be very disappointing when it doesn't happen the way we want. When we can zoom out and take a longer-term perspective, we'll be a lot happier in the long run.Collin explains why self-promotion shouldn't be your only goal when creating content: "Everybody needs to promote. We get it. There's a goal for spending as much time as creators do on these platforms. There's a purpose for creating the content. But it's got to be bigger than getting somebody's email or getting them into your sales funnel. And the more that you give and the less that you promote, the more effective it will be when you do promote something." Learn more about Chris and Collin in the links below: LinkedIn (Chris) - https://www.linkedin.com/in/decker-christopher/LinkedIn (Collin) - https://www.linkedin.com/in/collincmitchell/ Also, you can join our community by checking out @salescast.community. And for me, it was going from 'always be closing' to 'always be helping.'"Collin on another way to refine your content: "Who is the common enemy of Sales Transformation? It's that typical commission breath salesperson that everybody hates. So having a clear idea of who your not creating for can also help you get more clear on who you are creating for, and what it should be."Chris on growing vs dying: "There is one fact of life that cannot be ignored: you are either growing or you're dying. There's no in between. At any point of your life, you are either growing or dying. The same exact thing is true for any organism. Any organization, any living, breathing, biological thing is either growing or drying." Learn more about Chris and Collin in the links below: LinkedIn (Chris) - https://www.linkedin.com/in/decker-christopher/LinkedIn (Collin) - https://www.linkedin.com/in/collincmitchell/ Also, you can join our community by checking out @salescast.community. And if you've been doing this long enough I'm sure you've been stuck many times. If you're feeling stuck, that's totally normal. Give yourself a little bit of grace and be okay with that because it won't be the last time it happens."Chris on refocusing your attention when you feel stuck: "The secret is to not even necessarily go get what you're looking for. In this episode of the Content-led Growth podcast, Chris talks about the opportunities that await content creators with niche markets and offers tips to reach the 10,000 downloads per month threshold.  HIGHLIGHTS The big shift towards content for specific niche audiences Increase your frequency of shows and reduce the length of your episodesThe opportunities for niche content creators today QUOTES Chris on what kind of opportunities await for content creators: "The opportunity is that if you are narrow and you can cross that 10,000 download per month threshold, the opportunity is that a lot of companies will, for lack of a better word, buy you. Acquire your show. This may come in the form of a regular revenue contract which looks like sponsorship."Chris on why companies are acquiring niche content creators: "This is not specific to a company creating a branded podcast. So having all of your content documented in your Google Doc or Google Sheet is super helpful so that you can go back and repurpose that." Collin on why recycling content is critical for content creation: "If you're creating five days a week, seven days a week, or if you're even posting content like myself, typically twice per day, seven days a week -- when you're creating content at that frequency across multiple platforms, content recycling is important and something you should definitely put into your process of creating on a regular basis." About Christopher Decker and Collin MitchellChris and Collin are the co-founders of Salescast, a provider of revenue-first podcasts for entrepreneurs and sales leaders. Our duo also ruminate on the value of content generation in today's ever-changing business landscapes, and why sometimes the perfect content is the content that's not perfect. What you're gonna say and how you're gonna dress it up and put lipstick on it. But when you don't plan that much in your content... it's easier to just be honest and transparent and authentic because you haven't had time to rehearse or think about it." Chris on the ever-changing nature of content: "What worked in 2020 will not work today. What worked in 2021 will not work today. The world of content is changing faster and faster but there are some core concepts and elements that we've been able to extract over the years that are true, that will help you future-proof the kind of growth that you can experience through content."Chris on what to expect for the new show: "What people can expect is off the cuff, irreverent content that is different than you are currently hearing.
