280 Breaking Cycles We are hardwired to remember the stories that are far more painful and life altering, than the happier stories we lived. Perhaps it is our survival instincts or it is just easier to remember the bad, regardless it is important to sit back and truly think about how we frame our narratives using these experiences and decide for ourselves that this story is one we want to change. In todays episode, Sarah Elkins and Erin Weninger discuss the cycles both of them have lived as women, business owners, and parents, and the difficulty that came with acknowledging and changing the destructive patterns in our lives Highlights You can do what is best for you, you only need to find the courage to reach out. Everyone's narrative is different, but you need to know personally when that narrative is false and harmful to you. What lengths will you go to in order to defend your narrative? Is it really a narrative worth defending? Be adult enough to acknowledge when you fail, apologize, work towards being better, and take accountability. It's not the end of the world to admit when you are in the wrong. Quotes “I really needed that second falling out with my mom to have that feeling of; “Wow she really will go to extreme extents for self preservation at the expense of anybody else she might care about and love.”.” “It doesn't have to be an atom bomb to me just because I accept fault.” Dear Listeners it is now your turn, You've already been asked a few questions. Think about how you're modeling the behavior you want to see in the people around you. If you're a parent, what are your relationship issues with your parents that may be contributing to relationship challenges with your children? Are you taking time to look at those patterns and maybe be honest with your kids about what you're experiencing as a parent. And last but not least, I would love to hear your thoughts on Erin's story, and how and why she should share it. If you believe that her words can be inspiring to others, I would love to hear from you. And, as always, thank you for listening. About Erin (I will be sharing) My life story, as I am a 41 year old woman who spent roughly 37 years of my life thinking my dad had sexually abused me and it wasn't until 1 year ago I had confirmation he hadn't. Be sure to check out Erin's LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram! About Sarah "Uncovering the right stories for the right audiences so executives, leaders, public speakers, and job seekers can clearly and actively demonstrate their character, values, and vision." In my work with coaching clients, I guide people to improve their communication using storytelling as the foundation of our work together. What I've realized over years of coaching and podcasting is that the majority of people don't realize the impact of the stories they share - on their internal messages, and on the people they're sharing them with. My work with leaders and people who aspire to be leaders follows a similar path to the interviews on my podcast, uncovering pivotal moments in their lives and learning how to share them to connect more authentically with others, to make their presentations and speaking more engaging, to reveal patterns that have kept them stuck or moved them forward, and to improve their relationships at work and at home. The audiobook, Your Stories Don't Define You, How You Tell Them Will is now available! Included with your purchase are two bonus tracks, songs recorded by Sarah's band, Spare Change, in her living room in Montana. I have a new friend to introduce to you, Gene Newswanger. Gene is not only a business professor with the nickname “Professor Smiley” (which totally fits once you hear him talk), but he also has this incredible story of deep transformation—going from a conservative Mennonite upbringing to having these wildly beautiful, intimate experiences with God that are totally outside the box… and yet, so full of truth and joy.In our chats,Gene and I dive into everything from growing up in a tight-knit religious community, to realizing that rules and striving don't bring freedom—and how one powerful encounter with God completely changed everything for him. He shares what it looked like to step out of “performance Christianity” and into a relationship with God that is full of love, creativity, imagination, and even fun. Yes, FUN with God! Who knew?We talk about how our words create our world, how to stay curious and childlike in our spiritual journey, and how faith and trust are so much more than religious concepts—they're daily, joyful invitations to walk with our Father, full of awe and wonder. So whether you're feeling stuck in the “try harder” mindset, longing for deeper connection with God, or just curious about what's possible when we let go of the old and embrace the more—pull up a chair, grab your favorite drink, and join us. I promise you're going to be smiling right along with us.Let's go!BIO:Gene Newswanger, R.Ph., MBA, is a pharmacist, business professor, and creator of the Freedom Flow framework. With decades of experience, Gene (aka “Professor Smiley”) empowers individuals and organizations to overcome scarcity mindsets, embrace abundance, and build connections through relational living.Gene's Freedom Flow model utilizes practical, actionable strategies rooted in ancient wisdom and spiritual principles.A few of Gene's other passions include, getting a “great deal”, enjoying all things peanut butter and telling really bad “Dad jokes”. Gene lives life abundantly in the Freedom Flow with his amazing wife Joy in rural Pennsylvania. HIGHLIGHTS:You grow when you say yes to the uncomfortable.Gene opens up by admitting he's a little nervous being on the show (adorable, right?), but he hits us with this truth bomb: “We expand by our choice.” Growth often means stepping into unfamiliar spaces—and saying yes, even when it's scary. He was raised in faith... but it was more “theory” than fire.Growing up Mennonite, Gene knew about God, but not with God. It was head knowledge without heart connection—until later, when divine sparks started flying. His first God moments felt weird—and he ignored them.In college, he bumped into Holy Spirit encounters that didn't fit his box… so he brushed them off. (Relatable much?) Looking back, he sees they were divine breadcrumbs.Ministry happened...even when he didn't feel qualified.Gene and his family—the adorable “Smiley Crew”—were doing ministry, and one night God just took over. Youth were weeping at the altar, and Gene was like, “Wait, what just happened?” It was a Holy Spirit ambush… in the best way.He wasn't seeking an encounter—God showed up anyway.Ten years ago, Gene wasn't striving or hyping anything. He told God, “If I'm not feeling it, I'm not faking it.” That's exactly when God showed up. No performance, just presence.Same guy, new dimension. His wife noticed it—Gene was still the same man, but now he was walking in a deeper “yes” to God. He wasn't becoming someone different—he was becoming more of who God made him to be.From finance guy to faith guy.Gene taught financial classes from Dave Ramsey… now he hears God in his dreams. Talk about a shift! His journey moved from spreadsheets and savings to visions, encounters, and Kingdom abundance.A scary nudge out of the box.Gene sensed God leading him to financially help a friend—in a way that made zero logical sense. His inner budget guy panicked… but his spirit whispered “maybe.”Gift vs. transaction—what's the real investment? When it came time to act, Gene had to confront this: Was he giving out of control or out of love? A gift with no strings attached became the doorway to something much deeper.Breaking free from a poverty mindset took a radical act.Nothing broke that old scarcity story like borrowing money… to give it away. It wasn't the amount. It was the surrender. That act cracked something wide open in him.“Freedom Flow” wasn't just a nice idea—it was a spiritual download.Within 24 hours of giving that gift, downloads from Heaven began pouring in. He called it “Freedom Flow”—a divine invitation to live from overflow, not lack. It's not about giving away money—it's about relational abundance.Freedom Flow isn't a “give-it-all-away” program—it's a lifestyle of trust, connection, and Kingdom-minded generosity. The money isn't the main character… relationship is.LINKS for GENE:– Get more details at https://www.myfreedomflow.com– Catch him on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@myfreedomflowLINKS for Bralynn:– Coaching for Business and Breakthrough Encounters: http://SpiritCenteredBusiness.comCopyright © 2025 Bralynn Newby Int'l, LLC. 374 Passion and The Road To Fulfilling Success When we were kids we all wanted to be something extraordinary. We wanted to be magicians, doctors, paleontologists, astronauts, ballerinas, but somewhere along the way some of us lose that sparkle. We get sucked into the everyday routine of work and taking care of those around us. However that spark is not lost forever, sometimes existing as a fleeting ember of ambition that only needs to be cultivated to turn into a roaring flame of fulfilling success. In today's episode Sarah Elkins and Jimi Gibson discuss the importance of trying different paths in life and how there are many off ramps and back roads full of experiences to the destinations we want to reach. Highlights You will always find a way out of a situation you are in. Those who care about you and believe in you will support you through the difficult times. Telling your own stories and the stories of others in a way that reflects who you are. Quotes “I was going through my Strength's Finder and I was like, ‘I wonder where that came from?' I believe we're all born with these innate gifts.” “Depending on the size of the audience, you want to connect with who is in the audience.” “Everybody has their personal Abracadabra” Dear Listeners it is now your turn, Think about yourself as a six or eight year old and the thumbprint you would have left behind in a story like Jimmy's, how would you decorate it? Would it be an artist? Would it be a musician? Would it be a nurse, or a doctor? Would it be a magician? Think back on that, and this doesn't mean that you have to become that as a career, but what it does mean is that whatever it was that brought you satisfaction about that as a child, is what you need to be seeking now. And, as always, thank you for listening. Mentioned The Hero With A Thousand Faces Jimi's TEDX About Jimi Jimi Gibson isn't your typical VP of Brand Communication. Have you ever thought about how one day, we'll experience something for the very last time—without even realizing it? Maybe it's the last time we take a walk outside, share a laugh with someone we love, or enjoy a simple, everyday moment. I've been reflecting on this idea a lot, especially as I've watched my dad's health journey. There was a day that was his last time walking outside unassisted, his last time cooking for himself, and his last time moving around freely. None of us knew it would be the last (but here's hope for a better tomorrow!). In this episode, I also talk about how life and relationships can change, and how we often don't know when our last conversation or moment together might be. Life is full of these quiet, final moments, and I want to help us all reflect on how we can cherish them while we still have them.

Sonia C. is coming back from her vacation in Croatia. She is very happy it was low-key as she needed the rest, but it was almost a little too boring for her go-go mind. It's amazing what a little bit of rest, sleep, and dancing can do to the soul. At the end of it all, Sonia C. feels like a brand new person. This week's theme is: What it takes to detox and reset yourself. Highlights: You have to dance the bad vibes off. [4:35] Did you know your brain can get addicted to drama? [10:30] Intuitives might think they're taking the high road, but it ends up being a boomerang effect afterwards. [17:40] How do you know if this is an intuitive hit or if it's just your barking dog? [21:50] Accept that your vibes are off. Don't pretend everything is ‘fine'. [22:35] Tool of the week. [27:25] Take a break by doing something creative. [27:45] Uncomplicate your life. Life's already complicated enough! [32:40] Question of the week: What's the difference between an angel or a guide? [37:20] Although Sonia C. wasn't working, she was working on at least -something- which was bettering her French and becoming more fluent. She has a French test at the end of the month and she's trying to prepare as best as she can. It's so funny when you learn a new language because it really does feel like you're using a brand new side of your brain. Sonia T. believes there's something more that shines through when Sonia C. does it though and you get glimpses of her past life. Sonia T. reflects that whenever one of them is in funk, they decide to sing and do a dance party. It really regenerates the spirit. Sonia C. shares how this is a tradition within the family as her mother used to do the very same thing. You dance until the siblings stop fighting! It's all connected because you need to move the vibes in a higher place when you get stressed out. Tool of the Week: Vibes are off? Focus your spirit on a creative effort to help it rest. Don't take yourself too seriously. Quotes “Anytime I get that three confirmations for something I feel very directed.” “I think control is a function of fear. Because really we're not in control of very much, I can't even control my first thought, but it's the second thought, the actions that follow that's the only thing that I really have control over.” “It's my responsibility to change, nobody is going to make different choices for you.” Mentioned in this podcast Marly and The Pocket Facebook Marly and The Pocket Youtube 710 Ashbury Awe by Dacher Keltner Dear Listeners it is now your turn, The first thing that maybe would be helpful to you is to find the activity that brings out your inner 6 year old. Think about what it was at 6 or 8 years old made you question everything. That made you stop and get super curious about what was going to come next. What was that thing? Was it going into a cave? Was it hearing somebody perform on an instrument or singing? Was it riding your bike for the first time? What was it that brought you to that inner 6 year old and what can you bring back into your life to experience that wonder and awes? Whether it's in watching somebody else experience it or finding it in small details yourself. And next, what are you contributing to your communities of choice. Think about how you participate because when you are part of a community and you contribute like that that's when really good things happen. And, as always, thank you for listening. About Demetrius Demetrius Fassas was born and raised in Richmond, Kentucky. After attaining a degree in Biology from Butler University in 2012, Demetrius Fassas moved to Montana where he has spent the past 10 years working in the non-profit sector. In my work with coaching clients, I guide people to improve their communication using storytelling as the foundation of our work together. Sonia C. has been in New Orleans with Sonia T. for the last two weeks and the time has certainly flown by. They were able to see the Rolling Stones at Jazz Fest and also did a little canoe trip. It's just so nice to be surrounded by good vibrations and get your spirit tuned-up high. This week's theme is: You are always supported. Highlights: You are never truly alone when you live an intuitive life. [3:25] In Hollywood, any spirit that comes into our life is so ‘dramatic'. But that's not how it is in real life. [4:05] If you let your ego in, it's going to dismiss all the subtle angels in your life. [4:25] Your spirit guides serve your spirit, not your ego. [9:15] If you're in your ego, it's going to say, ‘prove it to me' a lot! [10:05] You might not have gotten what you wanted, but don't miss all the gifts that are around you. [12:50] Study everything intently in terms of what that energetic experience gave you. [18:15] My head says I'm off track…is that true? [22:45] If you're spiritually awakened, don't try to convince anyone else. It's going to be an uphill battle. [28:15] Trust your vibes and be in your integrity. Don't worry about those who are too ‘head-focused'. [30:35] Never take anybody's reaction personally. That is your ego trying to defend itself. [32:40] Tool of the week. [33:00] Question of the week. [41:05] It's just so nice being surrounded by your spiritual people. Sonia T. did an accidental boo-boo in the car and both her and Sonia C., almost automatically, prayed to their angels that there would be no long lasting damage, and when they checked, there wasn't! But just the fact that they both went into ‘angel mode' was such a refreshing moment that they could share together and laugh about later. When you're with your people, you can be as weird and as normal as you like, and you're just accepted for ‘you'. The great thing about living an intuitive life is that you're never truly alone. You will never get into a bind and be like, ‘I have no backup!' That simply isn't true when you live a spiritual and guided life. Your angels and helpers and guides are always with you and are always watching over you. They are here for you even when certain people aren't! Tool of the Week: Feeling outcasted? Don't worry. Your spiritual family is out there! Continue on Your Journey: Question of the Week: I've developed flying and travel anxiety. I can pick up everyone's vibration at the airport. It overwhelms me. 323 Authentic Connections Authentic connections can be difficult to find, whether it be from not being taught the skills to form these connections or simply losing touch with former acquaintances, it can be difficult but not impossible and with the proper tools and a heartfelt message, authentic connections can be found anywhere. In today's episode Sarah Elkins and Amy Daughters discuss the importance of authentic connections and how having meaningful conversations with individuals can lead to long term relationships. Highlights You'll never know how profound a connection can be unless you reach out. It only takes a thoughtful act to change not just the person receiving, but the person giving. In the age of social media it's more important than ever to treat people like individuals with their own stories and burdens they carry. Act with love in your heart, and encourage others to do the same. Quotes “It's generally accepted that if you write me and tell me that you care about me and value me, that I'm the one that walks away the person most changed. But the reality, and I learned this 580 times, You're the person who's the most changed. The person who is releasing that thank you, that congratulations. Because I went from saying “What am I going to even say in these letters?” to once I looked at their profile and once I realized who they were to me, all of a sudden I had so much stuff to say; Thank you, I'm sorry, Congratulations, I support you. And I started to see all these things that were going on in people's lives that I couldn't see in the news feed that I had to treat people one person at a time.” “The handwriting is somebody's personality but it's also the physical manifestation of how somebody feels about you and how it made you feel.” “I think what we try do is we try to put everyone else in our own little box, you know whatever it is that you feel like you're inspired to do. I was inspired to do that, but everyone is inspired to do something, they have a moment in their heart where they're like, “Oh that's what I want to do.” We got to encourage each other to do that.” Dear Listeners it is now your turn, Remember that title; Your Stories Don't Define You But How You Tell Them Will. What are the stories that people can tell about you based on what you take from this conversation? Think about the stories people are telling about Dana and Parker, and about Amy, that they'll never know and yet continue to create this ripple effect of connecting beyond the keyboard. Connecting authentically in a way that makes people feel seen and heard. What will you do? What is your next step? And, as always, thank you for listening. About Amy Amy Weinland Daughters, Award-Winning Author and Keynote Speaker, believes in a world where what makes us different is the very thing that connects us, instead of separates us. She brings that world to life by helping people reconnect to each other through the power of hand-written letters.
