In this episode, we're talking about why staying consistent feels so hard — especially when you're over 40 and trying to lose weight, feel better, and build healthy habits that actually last. We'll go over why motivation fades, why life gets in the way, and the real reasons you get stuck in that start-stop cycle. You'll learn the small shifts that make consistency feel doable, not overwhelming, and how to build routines that fit your real life. Mentioned in this episode:
Consistency in health and fitness comes from structure that holds up during busy seasons, not motivation or perfect routines. Reliable progress is built through clear standards, protected timing, simple decisions, and fast recovery after disruptions. When effort matches real life capacity and routines are designed for unpredictable days, follow through becomes steady and sustainable even when schedules stay full. Eating healthier shouldn't feel confusing, overwhelming, or impossible to sustain—and if it ever has, you're not the problem. In this 30-minute REAL30™ webinar, Rip Esselstyn and Laurie Kortowich introduce a simple, science-backed framework designed to help you eat more real, whole plants and stay consistent without turning your life upside down. The REAL30 is built on three approachable pillars:30 days of simple daily action (progress over perfection)30 minutes of movement per day (any movement counts)30 different plants per week (we count plants, not calories)You'll learn why plant diversity matters—especially for gut health, energy, metabolism, inflammation, and immune function—and how the “30 plants per week” concept is rooted in research from the American Gut Project. The conversation breaks down what real food actually means, why ultra-processed foods make consistency harder, and how whole plants work with your body's natural systems (including appetite regulation and gut health).Rip shares powerful real-world stories from the firehouse and lessons learned from his father, Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, while Laurie brings in insights from the PLANTSTRONG community—showing how quickly people begin to feel better when they focus on adding more of the good stuff instead of restricting. You'll also walk away with:Simple “bowl-building” meal patterns that work for busy livesPractical examples of how to hit 30+ plants in a day without stressTools to make consistency easier, including free trackers, a plant checklist, and optional meal-planning supportThis isn't a diet, a cleanse, or a rigid set of rules. It's a return to real food—built on abundance, simplicity, and momentum.
Gaining weight back after working so hard to lose it can make you feel discouraged, and honestly, scared to try again because you don't want to put in effort only for it not to work this time. In this episode, I break down what really happened when you regained the weight (and why it makes more sense than you think), why your old approach won't work this time, and how to rebuild your confidence so losing the weight again doesn't feel impossible or overwhelming. Here's what we get into: -What your body was trying to tell you the first time you lost weight, and why understanding that changes everything now when you choose to do it sustainably.-Why your brain keeps craving big overhauls, and how that urge is tied to diet history, not discipline -How to create a new approach that actually sticks, so you're not pushing your way to results you can't maintain. You're working out, trying to cut back on sugar and cook at home more, but the scale hasn't moved in months. It's getting to the point where you are wondering, "What the heck am I doing wrong?" In this episode, I walk you through what's really happening when your weight stalls, why changing everything isn't the answer (or putting more effort), and how one of my clients went from sitting at the same weight for 8 months to finally losing 8 pounds in the first 60 days of us working together. And y'all— I didn't make her star tover or blow her entire weight loss plan out. Instead, we focused on adjusting the workout and eating habits that will make the most progress. So get ready as I share what a weight loss plateau actually is, why your body might be responding the way it is right now, and what's next. -Why being “kind of consistent” isn't enough to judge a plateau, and the question you need to ask yourself before changing anything -The difference between effort and effectiveness, especially if you've been repeating the same meal plan and workouts for months -Why switching plans too quickly keeps your body stuck, even when you're trying to “do better.” -Know exactly what a plateau is actually asking you to adjust, instead of abandoning everything and starting from scratch Book a call to get your custom holiday plan: https://calendly.com/superlysam/6-months-1-1-coaching-sales-call Apply for 1:1 Coaching: Ready to lose 10-20 pounds while eating foods you love? There is something powerful about hearing a young athlete describe what it feels like to step into a moment they once only imagined. For Zoey Molomo, that moment came at 15 years old when she competed at Olympic Trials alongside the best gymnasts in the world. What stands out most is not just the stage, but the calm, joy, and perspective she brought with her into it.Zoey shares how her love for gymnastics started early, from being a kid who loved being upside down to watching Gabby Douglas in the 2012 Olympics and seeing what was possible. That spark carried her through elite training, big competitions, and the realization that she truly belonged at the highest levels of the sport. The conversation dives into the mental side of performance, including how Zoey learned to manage pressure by keeping competition simple. With the help of mental coaching, she reframed meets as just one more routine, developed tools to quiet overthinking, and learned how consistency is built through preparation and trust. She also reflects on injuries at a young age, the patience they required, and how those challenges helped her grow confidence, communication, and resilience.Zoey also talks about the importance of strong support systems, from parents and coaches to mentors and teammates, and how a positive, connected environment has allowed her to thrive both mentally and emotionally. As she looks ahead to UCLA, she shares her excitement for team competition and continuing to grow as an athlete and as a person. In this episode, you will hear • What it felt like to compete at Olympic Trials at 15 • How Zoey learned to handle pressure and expectations • The mental tools that helped her stop overanalyzing • How injuries shaped her resilience and confidence • Why support and joy matter in elite gymnasticsIn this week's episode of the PerformHappy Podcast, I talk with elite gymnast Zoey Molomo about Olympic Trials, mental training, injury recovery, and building confidence on the biggest stages.Learn exactly what to say and do to guide your athlete through a mental block with my new book "Parenting Through Mental Blocks" Order your copy today: https://a.co/d/g990BurFollow me on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/complete_performance/ Join my FaceBook page: https://www.facebook.com/completeperformancecoaching/ Check out my website: https://completeperformancecoaching.com/Write to me! Weekends aren't actually the problem. The way your Monday–Friday is set up is what's draining you. In this episode, we talk about the real reason you hit Friday night feeling like, “I just need a break… I'll worry about my goals on Monday". You may think you're lacking disciplined but what's really happening is your plan is either too intense, too stressful, or not aligned with your real life. Inside this episode, I walk you through how to read your body's signals, and what adjustments you need to make to your workouts and meals to help you stop undoing the progress you make Monday through Thursday. Here's what we get into: -How to tell if your workout routine is actually too intense for your current season and what to do when your body is exhausted instead of energized -Why stress at work is bleeding into your weekend decisions, and how to make the weekend stop being a recovery session -The shift you need to finally make your habits last vs not just hitting the gym hard Monday–Thursday and collapsing Friday night Book a call to get your custom holiday plan: https://calendly.com/superlysam/6-months-1-1-coaching-sales-call Apply for 1:1 Coaching: Ready to lose 10-20 pounds while eating foods you love? December doesn't slow you down — the way you react to December slows you down. In this episode, I walk you through why this month feels so overwhelming for weight loss and how to keep making progress even when your schedule is packed with traveling, hosting, and Q4 project deadlines. I'll share 3 biggest mistakes you are currently making that makes this month feel hard and show you what to focus on so you end the year proud. Cause imma tell you right now, it's not about "ending the year strong" — I sincerely hate that phrase when you barely have capacity and energy left for the year LOL. This time, it's about ending the year with intention. Here's what we get into: -Why your schedule can't decide your habits for you and how to choose simple habits that still move the needle -How to choose a goal you can actually handle in this season, whether that's not gaining weight or losing weight and why that clarity matters for momentum -What “flexibility” really looks like during the holidays, and how to pivot your plan without spiraling or abandoning yourself -How to set up December so you walk into January with momentum, not a pile of guilt and diet pressure Book a call to get your custom holiday plan: https://calendly.com/superlysam/6-months-1-1-coaching-sales-call Apply for 1:1 Coaching: Ready to lose 10-20 pounds while eating foods you love? This episode dives into one of the most important truths about growth and leadership. You do not need to be the most talented man in the room. You just need to be the one who keeps turning up. I use the journey through Brazilian jiu jitsu, from white belt to black belt, as a living example of what it really takes to build a mission, stay consistent and become the man you are supposed to be. From watching two friends receive their black belts, to earning my own first stripe on my purple belt, this is a reflection on hours on the mat, setbacks, injuries, time away, and still coming back. It is a reminder that progress is rarely pretty. Most of the time it feels like getting choked out, thrown around and humbled. Yet if you keep showing up, one percent better each session, everything changes. In this episode, I cover: • Why every meaningful mission starts at zero and why your next version begins the day you commit. • How the belt journey in jiu jitsu mirrors life, business and personal growth and what it really takes to keep moving through the levels. • Why consistency beats intensity and why simply turning up, especially on the days you do not feel like it, is already a win. • How training, cold tubs, long runs and time on the mat build an internal discipline that refuses to accept your excuses. • Why black belt level results are not about talent but about hours, repetitions and an unshakable belief that it is only a matter of time. • How jiu jitsu has become a place of peace, pressure release and identity building rather than just another achievement to chase. • The questions you must ask yourself as you head into a new year if you want to stop playing average and live with a black belt standard in your mission. This is not really a podcast about belts. It is a podcast about who you become on the way to earning them. If you choose your mission, stay consistent and refuse to quit, the result becomes inevitable. It is just time. Do the work. Become the black belt of your own life. Let us go. 14 Day Mission Insight programme details

My client Kierra was already working out, eating pretty healthy, and doing all the things she thought she was supposed to do but her weight wasn't moving. Between traveling three times a month, running a full agency, and trying every major diet from macros to Weight Watchers, she was stuck in the same plateau so many high-achieving women live in. In this episode, we talk through how she finally lost 8 pounds in 9 weeks during one of the busiest seasons of her life without tracking, obsessing over sweets, and relying on a perfect routine. I walk you through the key things we shifted that made all the difference for her progress to feel confident keeping the weight off this time. Here's what we get into: -Why Kierra wasn't seeing results despite being “consistent,” and the one habit that was keeping her in a plateau and how she pushed passed it -How she learned to eat in a way that worked even while traveling instead of only relying on being "at home" to be on track -The biggest workout change that helped her finally get stronger, even with a previous Achilles injury and a changing weekly schedule -How stress impacted her results, and what adjustments helped her body actually respond again This episode is for every woman who's doing “everything right” but not seeing the progress her effort deserves. Lose Fat With Personalized 1:1 Coaching HERE https://theclubhouse1.lpages.co/1to1-coaching In this episode, I break down why waiting for the perfect plan or perfect moment keeps you stuck. True confidence and mastery come from taking action, making mistakes, and learning as you go. Whether it's fitness, finances, or personal goals, the key is to decide, do, and adjust along the way to build real progress and certainty in yourself.
You know that "I'll start fresh in January" energy? Yeah… I'm calling BS on that. In this episode, it's time to break up with that New Year hype and showing you how to start your comeback now, right in the middle of the messy, cookie-filled, pre-holiday chaos. Because here's the truth: dates don't create change—reflection does. Here's What I Talk About: Why waiting for January 1st keeps us stuck in the same "start-over" cycle The 3-step year-end reset I use with my clients: Review. Reset. Reimagine. How to build boring but bulletproof consistency that actually lasts past February The real difference between "motivation" and "momentum" (and why one's a trap) My REPS method—Realistic, Excited, Planned, Sustainable—for creating habits that fit your actual life Why chasing six-week miracles never works and what to do instead Real Talk: If your workouts feel like punishment, your meal plan feels like a spreadsheet, and your "New Year, New Me" energy always crashes by President's Day, this episode is your wake-up call. I'm keeping it real, funny, and relatable while showing you how to ditch the pressure, stop waiting for perfect, and start stacking small wins right now. My Challenge for You: Take a real look at what worked this year and what didn't. Celebrate your small wins (yes, they count), then pick one to three boring-but-doable habits to carry through the holidays. This is how you stop being the women who disappears by February and become the woman who's still showing up strong in May. Ready to Go Deeper? How often do you feel overwhelmed by all the steps it takes to produce content? From research to recording, editing, publishing, and repurposing, it's a lot. Today, I'm putting the spotlight on co-host Nick Nalbach, who recently built a custom project management app to tackle this exact problem. Even more impressive? He built it in just 48 hours using AI, and he's not a coder. We talk about the mental load that comes with content creation, what inspired the build, and how his app helps track time spent on each task. The idea is simple: know how long things really take so you can plan better and stop beating yourself up. We also dig into how AI will soon help the app suggest when to work on creative vs. admin tasks based on your personal productivity rhythms.Plus, I share my first impressions of the new Zoom PodTrak P4Next, a portable, affordable podcasting tool that could be a smart option for creators on the go.
