376 The Art of Storytelling: What Makes A Good Leader?  What is it that makes a leader someone worth following? Is it the way they approach problems? Is it how they treat those who follow them or those who don't? Or is it something more unique to each individual?  In today's episode Sarah Elkins demonstrates through her art of storytelling how she has led others and helped them to lead in turn, and how important it is to follow a leader who makes you see the best in yourself, and to help others see the best in themselves. Highlights Show your qualities through your stories, don't just tell. A healthy and powerful work environment is possible when everyone works together and the leader takes steps towards improving their skills. Being self conscious of your skills and the room you have to improve.  Be confident in your abilities and find a way that is helpful and understanding to help others see them as well. Speak their language if you must.  Quotes “Why now? Because they're growing and they don't want to sacrifice their strong culture of caring for and developing their employees.” “The fact that you're asking this question makes you a good leader. The efforts you've made over the years to learn, to grow, to develop yourself, your self knowledge that you have room to improve, that's what makes a good leader.” “You've been using your own tools in your leadership style, not someone else's and that's what makes you successful to this point.”   Dear Listeners it is now your turn, It's my gift to you; to be your guide in collecting, practicing and sharing your most meaningful stories, so you have the power to choose how your internal messages and your internal dialogue shape your future. So you have the tools to improve communication at work and at home. And so you have the tools to advocate for yourself and others in the form of the most effective communication and connecting authentically with the people around you. Through story.  As I mentioned I am celebrating my five year book-versary, starting today Your Stories Don't Define You was published May 31, 2020. Starting this podcast was a wakeup call for me, I realized I was coaching my guests in sharing their pivotal moment stories, and they were finding great value in our time together, way beyond any promotional opportunity the podcast was offering. The book is designed to guide readers in collecting and sharing their stories with exercises and worksheets throughout. To celebrate my book-versary, I'm offering to sign and ship copies from Montana to you, and every purchase will include an offer for a 20 minute bullseye story mining session. In 20 minutes we will uncover at least one meaningful story for you to fine tune for you to use in your next interview, team meeting, speaking engagement, networking event, or maybe it's a date.  I really appreciate your support over the years and this is my way of giving that back.  And, as always, thank you for listening.  Purchase Your Stories Don't Define You and get your 20 minute session, here!   About Sarah "Uncovering the right stories for the right audiences so executives, leaders, public speakers, and job seekers can clearly and actively demonstrate their character, values, and vision." In my work with coaching clients, I guide people to improve their communication using storytelling as the foundation of our work together. What I've realized over years of coaching and podcasting is that the majority of people don't realize the impact of the stories they share - on their internal messages, and on the people they're sharing them with. My work with leaders and people who aspire to be leaders follows a similar path to the interviews on my podcast, uncovering pivotal moments in their lives and learning how to share them to connect more authentically with others, to make their presentations and speaking more engaging, to reveal patterns that have kept them stuck or moved them forward, and to improve their relationships at work and at home. The audiobook, Your Stories Don't Define You, How You Tell Them Will is now available! Included with your purchase are two bonus tracks, songs recorded by Sarah's band, Spare Change, in her living room in Montana. Be sure to check out my Job Interview Storytelling course to make sure you nail that next interview!

In this season, follow Magnetize Your Twin Flame®️student, Joe, as he works with Elle to navigate his journey by learning the truth about twin flames and implementing the process taught in the coaching program to align and balance his energy and ultimately magnetize his twin flame. After implementing the techniques he learned in the process for just a few weeks, Joe was able to balance enough that he magnetized his twin flame.  As is the case with everyone who first magnetizes their twin flame, Joe's energy began to feed from this interaction so Elle shares how to recognize his sneaky and subtle fear-based energy more clearly and guides him through what to do to help him not only maintain his balance by stopping the feed, but also how to balance even more to prevent the energy from repelling again and pushing his twin flame away.  Quotes: "Why she came in and why she came in a different way is because you've balanced enough of your fear-based push energy to clear the energetic field which enabled your soul to bring the two physical bodies, yours and hers, together physically.  And even though you're not physically in the same room, by physically we mean she comes into your physical somehow, right?  Which she did, she called."  (3:35 - 3:50)   "Whatever the twin flame says, thinks, feels, or does is totally irrelevant.  The only thing we want to focus on is just, "Oh, I balanced enough that here she is, she came in."  And that's all you need to know.  So you don't ever have to talk to her, you don't have to message with her...I'm not saying that you can't, but I'm just saying you want to get to the point where it's not about that, it's not about the details so to speak."  (12:15 - 12:39) "It's different now relating with her.  It has to be or else the fear-based energy comes back in.  Like if you want to make it like a "normal" relationship like you'd have with anybody else or you had with her previously, the push-pull, fear-based energy will just kick back in."  (21:51 - 22:05)   If you're ready to take charge of your twin flame journey and receive the same guidance and support as Joe, schedule a call with one of our coaches and start becoming irresistible to your twin flame today.    LINK https://bewithyourtwinflame.org/clarity-consultation/

What's up, gorgeous soul? Today, we're diving deep into a conversation that will shake up everything you thought you knew about identity evolution. Because let's be real, when life hands you a massive shift, it can feel like the ground beneath you is crumbling. But what if instead of resisting it, you fully leaned in? If you've ever felt like you're stuck in a loop of entertaining old patterns, playing small, or clinging to an outdated version of yourself, this episode is your wake-up call. We're talking about stepping into the bigness of your next chapter, releasing what no longer serves, and expanding your capacity to hold the success, joy, and expression you truly desire. Let's go! In This Episode 00:00 – Welcome to the show & the power of identity shifts. 03:10 – When life forces you to evolve; leaning into the discomfort. 07:45 – Why you already know what you need to do (and what's keeping you stuck). 12:30 – The bullshit we entertain that blocks our next level. 17:50 – Playing in limitation vs. choosing expansion. 22:15 – Outsourcing power vs. trusting your own intuitive knowing. 26:40 – The trap of self-sabotage & why you don't need to burn everything down. 31:20 – Expanding your nervous system's capacity for your next level. 36:00 – Integration is lifelong: Holding more success, growth, and depth. 40:20 – Final reflections and an invitation to go all in. Key Takeaways Identity evolution is inevitable, resisting it only prolongs discomfort. You already KNOW what you're meant for; stop entertaining the bullshit. Playing small and staying in outdated patterns is a choice. Expanding your nervous system's capacity is key to holding more success. You don't have to burn it all down to step into your next level. Trust yourself, claim your desires, and bet on YOU at full volume. Quotes “Why are you still entertaining the bullshit? You already KNOW.” – Rachael Meeds “The version of you that built this life isn't the one who's meant to sustain it.” – Rachael Meeds “Success isn't about staying comfortable, it's about expanding your capacity to hold more.” – Rachael Meeds “Burning it all down every time you evolve isn't growth, it's avoidance.” – Rachael Meeds Join Voice: The House of Liberated Self Expression I want to invite you to join VOICE. “In the context of entrepreneurship, ADHD can be an advantage, but it surely can be a disadvantage in life,” says Dr. John Torrens, an accomplished entrepreneur, professor of entrepreneurial practice at Syracuse University, and author of “Lightning in a Bottle: How Entrepreneurs Can Harness Their ADHD to Win.” Joining Alex Raymond in this episode, he discusses how traits like impulsivity and hyperfocus often associated with ADHD can fuel entrepreneurial success but require careful management to avoid burnout and personal setbacks.   Dr. Torrens shares his work on ADHD and its interesting connection to entrepreneurship. From his university course on entrepreneurial well-being to his research with the Young Presidents' Organization, he uncovers how many high-performing CEOs share ADHD traits. Could this be a hidden “superpower” for innovation and decision-making in entrepreneurship?   Join Alex and Dr. Torrens' discussion to learn actionable strategies for maintaining health, building strong support networks, and achieving resilience. Dr. Torrens offers a fresh perspective on how prioritizing well-being can lead to sustainable success in both business and life.   Quotes “Why work so hard for your company that you can't even enjoy the fruits of your labor? I've seen it in myself and my peers—they push so hard that, in their final years, they can't even enjoy what they've built. They're dealing with chronic diseases that could've been prevented or struggling with mental health issues. Some focus everything on the business and acquiring things, only to find themselves spiritually bankrupt. What better place to address this than at an institute of higher education, where we're teaching people about entrepreneurship?” (04:25 | John Torrens) “The reality is that stress is a real part of entrepreneurship, but you can manage it if you're proactive.” (11:11 | John Torrens) “When you dive deeper and you start to look at impulsive and hyperactive ADHD and the traits that are associated with that, you see a pretty clear link with entrepreneurial success... It's really two sides of the coin. On one side, it really works well for you, but on the other side, if you're not managing it, it could be seriously detrimental... It's the context. In the context of entrepreneurship, ADHD can be an advantage, but it surely can be a disadvantage in life.” (23:49 | John Torrens) “People with ADHD often don't choose conventional paths. What we've figured out is that they choose entrepreneurship because other pathways don't always feel accessible to them.” (25:23 | John Torrens)   Links Connect with John Torrens: Website: https://whitman.syracuse.edu/faculty-and-research/faculty-staff-directory/details/jtorrens   Connect with Alex Raymond: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/afraymond/ Website: https://amplifyam.com/ HiveCast.fm is a proud sponsor of The Conscious Entrepreneur Podcast. “Statistics show that growing a business is much easier and more profitable when the majority of your clients are repeat customers rather than constantly chasing new ones,” explains May Yeo Silvers. This week, she highlights the vital role that cultivating repeat clients plays in building a sustainable and successful event planning business. May shares insights from her own company, M2 Hospitality, where long-term client relationships have been key to their ongoing success. She emphasizes that securing repeat clients is not only more cost-effective but also less time-consuming than continually acquiring new ones.   To create a resilient business, May suggests maintaining a balanced client base with 50% repeat clients and 50% new clients. This approach ensures stability even if some clients temporarily pause their services. She stresses the importance of continuous marketing and outreach to preserve this balance and prevent revenue dips. May offers actionable advice on fostering repeat business by delivering outstanding service from the first engagement and nurturing personal relationships with clients.    Quotes • “‘Why is it important to get repeat clients? It is because statistics show that growing a business is much easier and more profitable when the majority of your clients are repeat customers rather than constantly chasing new ones.” (01:18 | May Yeo Silvers) • “It costs a lot more time, money, and energy to get new clients versus getting repeated business because the people who have used you once have already experienced the level of service from you, and they also know what it's like to work with you. Therefore, there is less hesitation to want to work with you again, provided that, of course, the first experience is a good experience.” (01:42 | May Yeo Silvers)  • “It's so important that even though it doesn't require a lot of time, energy, and money to keep repeat clients, you must continue to grow that repeat client base, and that can only happen if you grow your new client base. They move in tandem.” (06:42 | May Yeo Silvers)  • “This is Marketing 101. Get back to your repeat clients. Check in on them. Let them know you appreciate them.” (23:08 | May Yeo Silvers)   Links If you are looking for an event prof community where you can ask the what, the how, the accountability and support, check out our Unstoppable Eventrepreneur Community!   Inside the community, we host co-working sessions and personal development calls. You will be caught, with heavy consequences.Quotes:“Why do we credential? Well, we credential because most of our patients that we see anymore have insurance and they want to go to an in-network provider. The statistics are changing though. It used to be where there was only seven percent fee-for-service the last couple two years. That statistic has changed and we're growing to see more and more fee-for-service, which is great. I like seeing that. The latest statistic is around like 18, 19% fee-for-service practices back into the U.S. But still, we have a ton of providers graduating out every year, and there are more and more providers building their own practices, joining as associates, and they need to be busy. And so, the “why” there is getting in-network with insurances and credentialing and becoming an in-network provider.” (2:20—3:08)“Becoming a credentialed provider, it's a process. It's a process that has gotten increasingly difficult over the years. They don't make it easy. They don't want it to be easy. But they do want you to be in-network, and they really push for providers to be in-network and for patients to go to in-network providers. Now, the insurance companies send their EOBs out to the patients with, ‘If you would've gone to an in-network provider, your savings would have been X. Here's a list of five providers in your zip code.' They're promoting in-network. So, it is really hard to stay fee-for-service or to not go in-network. But we certainly don't want people to go in-network with the wrong insurances just out of fear either.” (3:11—3:49)“My personal hypothesis [for why fee-for-service increased from seven to 18%] is COVID-19. Right before COVID-19, we were seeing seven percent. Now, it's 18%. So, that gave providers time to look at how insurance...

And instead, focus on ‘How is my business going to perform? What am I going to do to make my business work in any market?'” “The most successful people that I have known in this business or in any business, they don't care. “We like to consider ourselves the Waze of surgery,” says Todd Usen, CEO of ActivSurgical. Waze gathers and presents data from the road in real time, so that driver's can navigate their trip successfully and avoid problems before they occur. Similarly, ActivSurgical uses sensors and AI to anticipate problems that aren't visible to a surgeon's naked eye, and complements where a human is limited. This real time data is available not only to the surgeon performing surgery, but to surgeons, live throughout the world.  With everyone having access to the same information, patients entering surgery can rest assured that they can receive a standardized level of care regardless of a surgeon's experience. This also has the potential to decrease time spent in hospital, and lowers the rate of readmission.  Readmission not only increases risk of secondary problems and even death, but has implications on health insurance rates.  Quotes: “Why does the 17 year old driver get all this amazing information that a 50 year old driver gets, whether it's a rear view camera, whether it's an orange light in their side view mirror to tell you that there's a car in your blind spot, a seat that vibrates if you switch lanes. Yet, you go to surgery and a surgeon just out of fellowship doesn't get the same information that a surgeon that's been practicing for 30 years does. It's all intuition and skills. What we're trying to do is bring that information live to the screen. So every patient around the world should have the confidence that their surgeon has the same exact information as other surgeons to get a great outcome.” (3:27-4:03 | Todd)  “The world's not going to be hardware forever.” (8:34-8:36 | Todd) “If you're a football fan, and you ever watched the NFL on TV, you know, there's that first down marker that that we see on the screen, that yellow line, but the players don't see that we see it on TV, I want the players to see that yellow line, I want the doctors to see that yellow line live.” (32:38-32:52 | Todd)  Connect with Brendan Dell: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/brendandell/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/BrendanDell Instagram: @thebrendandellTikTok: @brendandell39 Buy a copy of Brendan's Book, The 12 Immutable Laws of High-Impact Messaging: https://www.indiebound.org/book/9780578210926    Connect with Todd Usen: activsurgical.comCheck out Todd Usen's recommended books: The Boys in the Boat: Nine Americans and Their Epic Quest for Gold at the 1936 Berlin Olympics by Daniel James Brown https://www.indiebound.org/book/9780143136965   Build: An Unorthodox Guide to Making Things Worth Making by Tony Fadell https://www.indiebound.org/book/9780063046061   Rogue Warrior by Richard Marcinko  https://www.indiebound.org/book/9780671795931 Please don't forget to rate, comment, and subscribe to Billion Dollar Tech on Apple, Spotify, or wherever you listen to podcasts! As one of its pioneers, Arthur talks about the core values that have developed organically in the company during the past few years, particularly those that resonate with his own.  HIGHLIGHTS Treat others the way you would want to be treatedHow to build trust in an organizationBe intentional with the impact you make Hiring and firing decisions need to be grounded on valuesArthur's takeaways from his US trip QUOTES Why it's important to be intentional about one's actions and impact, says Arthur: "If you do things in a very transparent way, there's gonna be impact. If you do things in a bad way, there's gonna be a negative impact. As long as you do positive things, you're certainly gonna have a positive impact. If it's not gonna be right away, it's sooner."Why establishing a solid foundation of values is crucial for growing companies, according to Chris: "It's time to really decide what are the things we're gonna hire and fire by. Because as we scale we actually need to reduce the amount of complexity as much as possible, we need to make things simpler. When you start a business, there are many things you need to do to get it up and running. In today's episode, host May Yeo Silvers discusses the one question that every entrepreneur needs to ask themselves before they consider starting their own business.   The main reason people leave the corporate world is to pursue freedom of their time and finances. While entrepreneurship can be the right way to achieve this, it is never as easy as people think. In fact, during the first few years of opening a business, you will run into many hardships that might encourage you to give up. So to ensure that you find success, May says that you need to understand your purpose and your why. If you cannot answer why it is important that you make this change in your life, it is unlikely that you will find long-term success in your business.    Ultimately, the things that we desire can change based on the sacrifices that we have to make to attain them. So figure out your why, and you can almost guarantee that you will not only survive, but thrive as an entrepreneur.    Quotes • “Why is it important that you want to make the change to your current way of living now? Because if you all don't know the answer, when you're building your business, you may find that attaining the freedom that you want is not as easy as you think.” (03:10-03:34 | May) • “While you're building your journey to attain your freedom, there are going to be bumps along the road. And when you hit those bumps, there will be many opportunities for you to give up.” (04:11-04:26 | May) • “If you do not know why you cannot live without that level of freedom, that means you don't really have a why or a purpose.” (05:55-06:06 | May) • “Suddenly, something that seems very, very desirable to you can become less desirable and less appealing when you know the sacrifices that you have to make in order to attain it.” (07:08-07:21 | May) • “Whatever you do in your business has to be created out of inspiration, not obligation.” (11:14-11:22 | May)   Links Connect with me at: may@events4anyone.com Website: events4anyone.com LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/in/mayyeosilvers Facebook: www.facebook.com/mayyeosilvers IG: www.instagram.com/mayyeosilvers TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@mayyeosilvers  FB private group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/events4anyone   Podcast production and show notes provided by HiveCast.fm

“You've got to be willing to swing, which means, by definition, sometimes you're going to miss,” Brendan says on this solo episode of Billion Dollar Tech, as he takes us step by step through the set of criteria he used to evaluate his first venture investment. Determining the risk versus reward ratio of a company is one important factor in any investment decision. Another major factor was that the company (which he won't name, but you might certainly recognize) had an impressive network. As Brendan often reminds us, "Your network is your net worth.”  Don't be afraid to ask why you are the one being given this opportunity. Decide what's more important to you: valuation or potential. The idea is important but above all, look at the company's ability to execute. Be sure to look at the whole team when deciding if these are people you want to work with.  With this advice, Brendan hopes you can find something useful for your own investments, and welcomes your feedback and reactions. Perhaps you have advice of your own to give!  Quotes: “Why am I the one they want to get money from versus all of the opportunities and sources for capital out there?” (3:03-3:09 | Brendan) “The execution matters more than anything else. Yes, the idea is important, but I've seen a lot of great ideas that have just fizzled because people just can't execute.” (4:10-4:17 | Brendan)  “Can another big player just come in and do this? This is something that I hear a lot in businesses.” (6:53-6:58 | Brendan) “You have to look at these things and say, ‘Am I OK with this going to zero?' It drives a lot of really good alignment internally when you can just share with everyone that firsthand experience of hearing the customer rant, rave excitedly or frustratingly about something."Richard on why Fathom was born: "Two years ago I was doing a ton of zoom calls. Some 200 zoom calls in the first six weeks of the year, a lot of it user research. And it led to me being really frustrated trying to talk to people [while] taking notes. It led to me being really frustrated with sharing this to my team and them not being a good representation of the call."Why Richard prefers to target early adopters: "The people that we reach through the podcast, it's not about, is this gonna help 10x our growth. Overuse of antibiotics can lead to resistance. Antibiotics and antibacterials can have adverse effects. Overusing clindamycin can increase the risk of C. diff infection. For the average patient, there is no evidence that prophylaxis is necessary. Guidelines for antibiotic prophylaxis are constantly evolving.  Quotes: “[Why prophylaxis is controversial] boils down to two main points. And the first one is, is antibiotic prophylaxis even necessary? If I have to ask that question, I have to ask a preview question to that. What the heck is prophylaxis and why is it necessary? Well, we know that there are certain vectors under which bacteria that normally reside in the mouth can end up causing trouble in other parts of the body. Obviously, one of the issues is infective endocarditis. That is where bacteria from the mouth have found a way into the endocardium and may cause issues that can ultimately lead to bad outcomes for our patients.” (3:20—4:03) “Bacteria in the mouth can find a way to where we've had replacement joints, plates, knee replacements, hip replacements, and so on. And that can lead to joint replacement failure. These are pretty significant events in people's lives and, certainly, we want to try everything we can in dentistry to avoid that from happening. So, one of the ways we avoid bacteria that normally resides in the mouth to find other places or other ways into the body cavities is to prophylax with antibiotics, to kill them before they have a chance to establish residence elsewhere. But it's controversial because everybody knows that when you overuse an antibiotic, it increases the risk of infection.” (4:05—4:47) “There is that whole aspect of antibiotic stewardship, which is, we should be the stewards. We should be the lookouts for making sure that antibiotics are used both effectively and efficiently, but also appropriately so we're not overusing them and therefore causing resistance to occur.” (4:47—5:04) “I can run down the list pretty easily, of antibiotics, that we normally use in dentistry. And that's the problem, in and of itself, is that we have a great arsenal of antibiotics that we use in dentistry, but unfortunately, it's a very small arsenal. And they're not really all antibiotics. We use the term colloquially but, really, they're antibacterials.” (5:14—5:33) “Penicillins are our favorite antibacterials. That would include penicillin VK and amoxicillin, specifically, in dentistry. And I'd be hard-pressed to find a general dentist and any dental specialist as well that hasn't prescribed amoxicillin at some point in their practice. And the reason for that is because it works, because it has great efficacy and great coverage against the bugs we find in the mouth. Now, the penicillins are bactericidal, which means that they destroy the cell wall and, therefore, they kill the bacteria. Which would sound great if you're treating virulent bacteria that you want to get rid of. But remember, they don't just kill the bad guys; they also kill the good guys. And that can lead to problems with things like opportunistic infections and even the potential for increasing the risk of bleeding in patients who are using drugs like Coumadin. So, they're great drugs, but they do have their...

Today, I’m thrilled to have a guest who will help us reframe why we got into this line of work, to begin with. About Amira Alvarez Amira Alvarez has created an amazing brand that makes a huge impact on people’s lives. She is the founder and CEO of The Unstoppable Woman, a global coaching company helping entrepreneurs, empire builders, and rising stars achieve their dreams and goals in record time. Your Business as a Source of Satisfaction Amira draws a direct connection between building and growing a business with personal satisfaction. While some days will naturally be more difficult than others, the goal of running your own business should be to have a good time. It should empower you to live the life you want. It’s easy to fall into the trap of the daily grind. To combat this, Amira urges fellow entrepreneurs to stay focused on the big picture. Recognizing Your Vision For Your Life and Career The fact of the matter is that there are infinite ways to run a business. Too often, entrepreneurs fall into the old paradigms that they know from former jobs. Yet, if you can identify your vision and how you want to show up for your job, you can actively work to create that reality. Amira urges everyone to recognize that they can operate according to their own rules. When this happens, you’ll be able to actually enjoy what you do for a living. Many find that they’re working themselves into the ground. Making more money can help you escape this. The trick is doing it without creating more work that you don’t want to do. This could mean raising your prices, selling more, or adding a new income channel. Before you can do this, you need to believe in yourself and the value of what you do. How is your business leading you towards a life of delight? How can you shift what you do to create a more fulfilling work experience? Dr. Jamie Marich is an EMDR therapy master trainer and the author of several books including, Trauma and the Twelve Steps and Trauma Made Simple. On this week’s show, Dr. Jamie discusses the healing process between the Twelve Step program and addressing your trauma. She also discusses her philosophy with the Twelve Step program and why it’s important to update the language in it to help people grow and recover.    TAKEAWAYS: [3:00] Dr. Jamie has recently revised one of her books, Trauma and the Twelve Steps. [4:00] People who have worked heavily in the trauma world had a low opinion about the Twelve Steps and vice versa. Why is that? [5:45] Wounds can come in all shapes and sizes, but healing can take on all different forms. [9:00] People use the Twelve Steps as commands, but Dr. Jamie has always seen it as suggested steps. [13:35] The wound itself is not the issue in trauma. It’s how it gets addressed and healed that is. [14:20] A lot of people think they have dealt with their trauma, but they really haven’t. [19:35] Admitting your powerlessness over alcohol or your addiction does not mean you are a powerless person. [21:45] We have to be willing to update the language with the times. The Twelve Steps was written in the 1930s. [28:30] Trauma is never fully healed, but it does evolve. [32:30] We have to validate ourselves, the reality of what’s happening, and we have to validate each other, and then we have to challenge it. [35:35] Is it true we will never truly ‘thrive’ in life?   RESOURCES:  The Porn Panic: Is Porn a ‘Public Health Crisis’? The wound itself is not the issue. It’s how does it get addressed, how does it get healed, and what is the existing system of the person experiencing it.” “There’s a lot of people who think they’ve dealt with their trauma or it hasn’t affected them, but they really haven’t.” “A principle I teach in trauma-informed care is there is always a modification, and I think more people would be opened to the twelve steps if we allowed for that.” “After everything you’ve been through, it’s no wonder you’ve become an alcoholic, what are you going to do about it now?”

Bunnie and Manager Meme share embarrassing sex stories from their own lives as well as hilarious stories from fans for a much-needed laugh amidst the craziness of 2020.           Takeaways: Olivia walked in on Meme and her mans, they told her they were folding laundry Bunnie unintentionally circumcised someone during sex and he had to go the hospital Sex stories from fans: A fan had a guy eat her out during sex and she thought her period was over until they guy pulled away and she saw a big blood clot in his beard. She never said anything to him, and they never spoke about it A fan and her ex-boyfriend, nick-named Ginger-Dick, were driving up to the hills to have sex near a boulder. When the deed was done, they talked about how it was fun while it lasted even though it was quick.  From about 8 feet away, someone laughed and said, “yeah, while it lasted”.  Apparently, a couple on the other side of the boulder witnessed the one-minute magic.   About five years ago, a fan and her boyfriend and now baby daddy tried out anal sex. When he was about to finish, she turned around and opened her mouth, and realized there were chunks going into her mouth.  She ran to the bathroom and immediately starting puking.  Luckily her boyfriend thought it was hilarious, and now they have a running joke about chili dogs.  A drunken night with a friend from school led one fan to accidentally shit while they were getting it on. When she came back to the room, he said “You made a mess, punk.”  And she replied, “well you fucked the shit out of me”.    “I smashed my ex with a strap-on and when I pulled out, he sprayed shit on me”. “I queefed so loud he asked me if I could hear the neighbors farting”. You can’t help it when you queef, but it is hilarious. “I sucked some dude’s dick and the way it tasted just made me sick. I had to call quits for real.” “My man is the biggest I’ve had, and I’ve been throwing up during oral. It goes down way too far.”  According to manager Meme, grab your thumb and it might help keep the gag reflex at bay.  They also have throat spray you can use, or just get drunk! A fan was having drunk sex with a girl and she poured a shot of vodka on his dick and it started to burn. When he stood up quickly, she accidentally knocked a shot of tequila into his eye.  Bunnie’s pro tip: don’t juggle drinks while getting the nookie on- put the drinks down! When you’re drunk you get nasty: Bunnie started a fetish for herself when she drunkenly poured a bottle of baby oil on herself once, now she loves oiled up porn.    “I screamed another dude’s name out while getting the shit fucked out of me.” If you aren’t good at names, just call everyone baby so you don’t get mixed up.  A fan was feeling gassy after eating Mexican food. After waiting a few months to have sex, they finally went for it, but she was bloated and when he flipped her over and put her legs above her head, she farted for 15 solid seconds.  She put her face in her hands and he started dying laughing and comforted her saying “shit happens”. After having a crush on a skater boy she went to middle school with, one fan finally hooked up with her crush. She didn’t realize she had started her period and they made a mess.  She didn’t see him until years later at a WICCA appointment.  He was there with his baby mama he kept looking at her like “I know who you are…” but never said anything.     A fan and an old fuck buddy parked on the side of the road at a dead end to get it on. They saw headlights approaching but thought nothing of it and kept on getting it on.  Two minutes later, a spotlight was shining in the car and up walked 3 cops, and she was butt ass naked, sitting on his dick, and the car smelled like straight sex.  They made them get out of the car and she was standing on the side of the road with nothing, but his daughter’s Frozen blanket wrapped around her.  The officers gave them a verbal warning and let them go.  After her first time trying anal, this fan found discovered how hard it is to get the cum out of her ass. “Felt like I was pissing warm yogurt out of my ass and sounded like I was blowing up the bathroom.” After things got hot and heavy with this fan and a guy she was about to hook up with, she reached for his dick and it was only about as big as her thumb. She immediately texted her best friend to have her call her crying and ask to be picked up so she could find a way to politely bail her out of the awkward situation.  When her friend called, she politely declined the guy’s generous offer to drive her and waited for him to leave.  When he left she felt bad, but at least she spared his feelings!    “I was making out with this guy once and all of the sudden my legs get wet. Well, come to find out, he came on me.”  Bunnie said at first, she would have felt like “that bitch” but then she would have been pissed.  Let’s be real, most guys can’t get it up again for a while after they finish.  “I took too many Percocet’s before a BBW was riding me cowgirl, she damn near broke my dick.” “I fucked in my car in a Walmart parking lot for my third time.” Get in where you fit in baby! “I took acid and the girl I was banging had large tits. I thought they were tentacles and I freaked out.” A fan wrote in that once when she didn’t have any toys, so she used a jar of pickles. She popped a condom on a pickle and went to town.  The condom burst and she had to squeeze the pickle out.  “I was doing the stripper heel click with my legs in the air and farted…he’s now my husband.” These guys don’t care, they’ll take it how they can get it! The nastier you are, the more you’re gonna get wifed up!   Quotes: “Why is there so much blood involved with sex?!”- Meme “Gingers have no souls: we love gingers” – Bunnie “That’s an ATM baby, Ass To Mouth!” – Bunnie “That will open up the ole gaper”- Bunnie “You fart cum bubbles for like a week afterwards”- Bunnie “Where was the nose?!” – Bunnie “Bitches love cucumbers in the puss” - Bunnie   Mentioned: Sponsored by: Adam and Eve Adam and Eve Official Website Use the Code BUNNIE for 50% off!   Check Out Bunnie: Instagram | Facebook | Twitter

It’s Part of the Process When God gives us a dream or a vision of what our lives will look like and the impact we will have on the world for Him, we go through a process before it becomes reality. The bad news is that process is not fun. Matter of fact, it can be a painful one, but God is all about the process. There is purpose in the process! In our society we waste a lot of time and energy trying to fix ourselves. Women are focused on shrinking their bodies, hiding their age and trying to erase any sign of a flaw. All of this is exhausting, and takes us away from what truly matters in life and what we are meant to do — which in my opinion is to make an impact in our families, work, and communities.  In this episode, I lay out five ways you can constructively challenge yourself and shift your perspective on your body for the better. If you take these to heart, you should find yourself wanting to shed shame and guilt rather than shedding pounds. And with that, you’ll be spending your time and energy on things that help you move the needle in your work and your life.  I’ve opened up a new cohort for my Ascend Mastermind, which starts April 1! Check out the details here: www.kellytravis.net/ascend  The Finer Details of This Episode: Celebrate your body and pay attention to what you really need, not what strangers say you need. Take credit for your beauty instead of deflecting. Apologize to your body, namely the parts of yourself you’ve never been particularly proud of. Unfollow those on social media who—however unintentionally—leave you feeling ashamed of your body, and follow those who inspire positivity. Do the damn thing and take the action you can now rather than waiting for a hypothetical “perfect” time to do it.   Quotes: “Why not work to get to a place where the norm is accepting our bodies?” “You can accept yourself for where you're at right now and also work on improving yourself.” “We’re so focused on maintaining or shrinking that we don’t listen to what we actually need.” “You have a choice whether or not to expose yourself to the things that trigger you.” “What are you saying ‘no’ to that you could be saying ‘hell yes’ to today?” Show Links: Ascend Mastermind - https://www.kellytravis.net/ascend The Goal Getters Club Facebook group - https://www.facebook.com/groups/goalgettersclubkellythealth Ready to take your work a bit deeper? A Tale of Two Hygienists is starting the New Year off with a brand new series focusing on myofunctional therapy, which focuses on the treatment of musculoskeletal pain. To walk us through this complex subject, we have a very special guest accompanying us over the next few episodes.   Sarah K. Hornsby, RDH, is a myofunctional therapist, speaker and mentor. Her interest in myofunctional disorders arose from her own myofunctional problems, inspiring her to ask bigger questions about why these issues are prevalent in today's society. This ultimately led to her launching her own myofunctional therapy practice, Faceology, a decade ago.   In this episode, Sarah discusses what pushed her to take up myofunctional therapy, explains what she hopes for her patients to achieve by the end of their treatments, and reveals some of the pushback she experienced trying to talk about these disorders with patients.     EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS:   Interview starts: 17:04   - How Sarah went from hygiene school to the school of hard knocks in a very short span of time.   - Looking back at how “fringe” myofunctional therapy was thought to be only a decade ago.   - Why having a few strange symptoms led Sarah to pursue myofunctional therapy.   - Sarah describes the opposition she faced when trying to discuss myofunctional issues with patients at her former clinic.   - How Sarah's professional relationship with dentists has changed over the years.   - Sarah outlines her four goals for her myofunctional patients.   - What historical and environmental factors influenced both myofunctional disorders and the study of them?   - How Sarah has started mentoring other oral health professionals in myofunctional therapy.     QUOTES:   “Why are we not looking at this if it is important, and why have I not heard of it?”   “I turned that hygiene program around.”   “It's hard to talk about stuff you don't know about.”   “If you want to do this, you're going to have to take multiple training courses.”   “That's kind of my mission: to make the field grow.”   “I love those four day courses. You are capable of starting anything you want to, sometimes you just need a little push. That push can be from a mentor, friend, advisor, or, well, anyone really! As today’s guest, Valerie Rocio Campbell asks, what’s the worst that can happen?  It’s been one year since Valerie quit her full-time job to start her own business. Fast forward to today, Valerie has a team of 6 women located across the nation working with her to create the content creation business she never knew she wanted. I’m so proud of everything she’s achieved over this first year in business! When we first started working together, Valerie realized that she didn’t even understand how business finances worked from a start-up perspective. The other important business start-up elements Valerie wants you to know is how essential a thorough and specific contract is. Just like when you’re working for big business, having something in place can be a life and business saver. Starting your own business is an incredible feeling and you’ll likely feel like you want to work on your business all the time. But there comes a point where you realize you can’t do this anymore. That’s where self-care and time management practices really come into play. Valerie says you also need to practice business self-care and that sometimes looks like deciding not to work with a client anymore, or knowing when you don’t want to sign someone onto your books. It’s okay to make these decisions, because that’s sometimes what business is, and you will learn to emotionally distance yourself from your clients. Part of Valerie’s quick business growth came from her cold-pitching potential businesses that she legitimately would love to work with on Instagram. While it’s not a method that everyone feels comfortable with, there’s no denying that it can have some great results. Valerie shares how her life has changed in the last year. Have you been hesitating to start your own business? Do you have good time management practices? How do you feel about cold-pitches as a business method? In This Episode: Why you should ask yourself, “what’s the worst that can happen?” when considering starting your own business How important understanding business finance right at the start is Why you need thorough and specific contracts What the relation between time management and self-care is when you own a business How you can be comfortable with deciding not to work with someone Why you need to find a balance with your emotional connection to your clients How cold-pitching can benefit your business How quickly your life can change when you start your own business When you should start hiring your first employees Quotes: “Why not now? I always thought of it as a down the line thing, I also didn’t have it down in my mind that I could do it, I just didn’t put it in the timeline. I think a lot of being an entrepreneur is going into it knowing you can literally do anything, you just need to do it.” (14:58) “You think when you start your own business that you can make your own schedule and that you can go shopping in the middle of the day and that you get to sleep in every day. And you can, absolutely, but it’s also mixing into your personal life now. You have a business that will always have things you can continue to do.” (19:13) “It’s not salesy to talk about what you do in any way. You’re not holding anybody hostage to buy your service. It’s simply telling people what you do for a living.” (28:49) Links Find Valerie Rocio Campbell Online Follow Valerie on Facebook | Instagram   Sign Up for My Free Webinar: The 5 Step Framework to Building Your Profitable Service-Based Business Join From Side Hustle to CEO on Facebook Keep up with everything Women In Business Follow me, Dr. Cortney Baker on Facebook | Twitter | Instagram | LinkedIn KidsCare Home Health   Are you a female millennial entrepreneur who wants to start or scale your service-based business but not sure where to start? Moving naturally has always been and always will be a timeless and essential biological necessity. But most of us, even those of us who exercise regularly, neglect a wide range of natural movements. This leaves us limited in what we can functionally perform in our daily lives. Today’s guest, Erwan Le Corre, has made it his goal to revive an interest in restoring strength through natural movement. Erwan Le Corre is the founder of MovNat and author of the new book The Practice of Natural Movement. With a unique and insightful approach to moving, Erwan has helped countless people reconnect with how their bodies are naturally meant to move so that they can regain their health in ways many thought they couldn’t. He is on a mission to help as many people as possible reconnect with their bodies and to establish a new paradigm in the fitness industry. In this interview, Erwan breaks down many elements of movement and functioning and explains how it’s all part of a singular system whose parts are best strengthened through natural and comprehensive movements. He describes how our bodies are not designed to work just a few parts in isolation even though this is how many workouts are done. Erwan tells us how to reconnect with natural and comprehensive movements in order to strengthen our entire system and live healthier lives. Did you try sitting and standing like Erwan described? What did it reveal? Let me know in the comments on the episode page!   In this episode The evolutionary principles behind how we move and why it matters today How MovNat creates a comprehensive and intuitive exercise routine Regaining your natural movement abilities after a long period without physical activity How people injure themselves because of a lack of adaptability The intersection of competency and capability in allowing for strong natural movement The importance of having a variety of natural movements in our daily lives in order to increase our physical adaptability   Quotes “Why is it normal, desirable, relevant, or effective to compartmentalize our physical behaviors in order to be in shape?” [5:03] “Natural movement really belongs to all of us. You don’t need to be taught natural movement. What you may want to learn is to be highly efficient in the way you practice and perform. Nobody starts from scratch, it’s there instinctively.” [11:37] “Nobody is strong overnight. Nobody is skilled overnight. It’s always a process like so many other things in life.” [26:40] “If a lack of natural, varied, frequent, adaptable, practical movement is the reason why you are dealing with physical and functional ailments, then restoring healthy natural movement behavior might be the most potent change you can introduce to your lifestyle to fix most of those issues.” [42:48]   Links Find Erwan Le Corre online Follow Erwan on Instagram | Facebook | YouTube The Practice of Natural Movement by Erwan Le Corre   Check out the full show notes for this episode here Urban Wellness Clinic Follow Emily & Urban Wellness on Facebook | Twitter | Instagram | YouTube

Get ready as we dive in on today's conversation! Ross Buhrdorf is a serial entrepreneur, CEO at ZenBusiness, which democratizes entrepreneurship by making it easy to create, maintain and manage an LLC or other corporate entity. In his more than 30 years as a technology leader, entrepreneur and corporate executive, Ross helps transform the way consumers interact with technology. Also, CTO of the year in 2011 and founding chief technical officer for HomeAway (NASDAQ: AWAY) which he helped grow the company from a startup to its current position as a $3B global leader in the travel industry. Also, a member of the Board of Directors for American National Bank (where he is helping them through a digital transformation and security upgrade). He is passionate about the consumer Internet, security, mobile technology and how to apply innovation to build better products and a better world. It is everyone's responsibility whatever selections they've made but making sure that you're getting the right perspective. But don't forget to take extreme ownership and accountability in whatever actions or situations you're in. In this episode: The feeling of wanting more Not staying stuck in good Striving for what COULD be Embracing the GROWTH in the process Today’s topic is one of my very favorite things to talk about. It is the concept of going from good to great, and I really think this will resonate with you. Maybe you have thought about this before, or maybe this is a totally new concept to you, regardless I am SO excited to share it with you. I’ve been thinking about this in two main ways that it’s cause me a bit of discomfort & ended up holding me back. First, comparing my good to someone else who is worse off so that I feel guilty for wanting more. And second, when I feel like wanting great or wanting more is selfish simply because I am so fortunate already. I want to share with you how I have managed to constantly push myself to go from good to great, as well as how to check myself when I feel a bit complacent. Hope this helps you girl, and I can’t wait to hear what you think!   Quotes: “Why not decide, that you have that gut feeling in you for a reason.” “It’s hard for people to be what they can’t see.” “Tip toe if you must. Start with one good thing and decide, nope. Throwing in the towel on good, I’m going for great. I’m pushing for great.” “At the end of the day, ACTION brings CLARITY. #126 Unique Venues, Unique Perspective: Mayflower Venue's Veronica Armstrong

Hey! We should get married in an apple orchard! Or a castle! I want a private garden for the ceremony and a rustic but elegant open barn for the reception. WHERE CAN WE GET THAT? Check out Mayflower Venues, y'all. They might just feature the perfect venue for you. Here's teh blurb: Mayflower Venue's platform and proprietary event planning software enable nontraditional event spaces (farms, family estates, orchards etc.) to market, book, coordinate and host custom weddings (or events) for couples who demand more unique and customizable venues. Big Takeaways So. It's a site for venues. Unique, private estates for people to rent for their event day. But the MV platform is so much more than that - we wouldn't just interview a guest about private venues, right? (Although a lot of listeners ask us about unique venues and how to find them…) We are learning about Mayflower Venues from their marketing director - the property listings are awesome, think AirBnB for wedding venues - but what's even more awesome is the way that MV walks you through the process both to choose your venue AND to actually host a party there. Vendor recommendations, all pricing online, measurements and specs, rules, schematics, help with communicating logistics to vendors...it's all a part of the Mayflower process. How cool it that?? We are posting a link below to a Mayflower Venues video - check it out, it's a real couple sharing their MV experience. Super helpful to understand the site and the process. It takes a lot of planning - like creative problem solving, you don't know what you don't know planning - the unsexy, but critical stuff - to plan a wedding at a venue that isn't an exclusive event venue. There are a lot of things to think about - flooring, restrooms, parking, tenting, how to light it, do you need a generator? Insurance? Is there wifi? Mayflower Venues helps you with ALL of this as you plan your wedding at one of the venues they represent. They help you implement the vision so everyone on your wedding team is set up for success. Another way Mayflower Venues is different is because it is a transparent process. They aren't paying for leads, and they aren't getting kickbacks when they recommend vendors to clients. They recommend vendors to clients because the vendors are AMAZING and familiar with the venue. There's not incentive, and no pressure. No professionals are paying Mayflower Venues to refer them - which is huge. MV is doing quality control with their referrals. Unique Wedding Space, Location, Properties...why are they awesome? Pick a venue that speaks to you as a couple. What are the things that are important to you...do you have a connection to a certain location? Maybe there is something that is reflective of your relationship in the venue itself. Then ask yourself how do you want to remember your wedding day? This is how you can prioritize what's important to you and you can narrow down the venues. You want your wedding day to feel a certain way and you also need to consider logistics - for your guests, and for your own experience of the day. Word to the wise - if you want a ‘barn wedding' - there is a bigggggg spectrum. Maybe you want the view, but not the actual close ups of animals. There are many kinds of barns out there, and many on the MV site, just dig in a little and pick properties to view that have the ‘type' of barn you want. You know what we mean. We talk about the wedding venue industry in this episode - there are elements that you, as a person planning their own wedding, might not know about. Like ‘pay to play' sites, commissions and kick backs. This is not all bad or negative, it's how the world works in some ways. But we're talking about it with Veronica because at Mayflower Venues, part of their mission is to be transparent between the properties they represent and the clients. The prices are listed, the amenities are in black and white. MV has properties and estates on their site that they have vetted and visited and KNOW. They don't peddle venues that pay them to list them. It's a totally different business model than most wedding listing sites. Important distinction! Links we referenced https://www.mayflowervenues.com/wedding-venues https://youtu.be/WBzK5keTt6A https://www.instagram.com/mayflowervenues/ Quotes “Why are venues obscuring their prices? It makes no sense. Why are venues changing their price depending on who's sitting in front of them.” - Veronica on how the wedding industry needs transparency “I hear about family estates. I hear about family farms. I don't have a family estate! How do I get married on one?!” - Christy, speaking as a panicked bride searching for a perfect estate venue “This is not a traditional venue-selling model. We represent a lot of different venues. The best way to find the perfect one for you is by giving you a lot of information upfront.” - Veronica, on Mayflower's listings for each venue “We're not a replacement for planners, a lot of people work with planners with us. There's no right or wrong way to do it. What we really do is ensure the success with this specific venue - whatever is super important to know about this specific location.” - Veronica “I just want to plan a Wes Anderson type wedding at a private camp site. Can I do that, please?” - Michelle putting it out into the universe! “The benefit here - of Mayflower Venues - is that NONE of these venues are paying to be on this website. They are on this site because they are unique, they are lovely, great, you've vetted them.” Michelle, basically, MV helps to manage the properties for events - but the property owner isn't PAYING MV to represent them online. It's about transparency, people! “You want to make sure if someone is recommending a venue to you, it is because it is truly the best suited to you to execute your vision.” - Veronica. Truth! Stacie dives into the 4th communication archetype this week: The Connector. She explains why it's so crucial to understand the style of communicator you're dealing with, as well as the one that you are, in order to have smooth, effective conversations that leave you feeling great and getting results. She also summarizes the 3 types previously discussed on the show!~ If you missed out on them, go check out the last 3 episodes! Stacie describes the connector as being very open, and easy to relate to, as they are always striving to find that way to connect with the person they are speaking to. They tend to have a relaxed disposition, making them very relaxed, warm and approachable. A common fear among connectors is sudden change, they're not a fan of when things suddenly take a turn without time to prepare. They can appear stubborn, but that could be a result of wanting things to remain the same. They can also seem overly sensitive, because they want to ensure the boat doesn't get rocked. Connectors are amazing planners, being able to share responsibilities and being amazing at follow through gives them an edge in forming solid relationships. They don't readily give opinions, although that doesn't mean they don't have any, and they often know the most about how work is getting done.   Quotes “Why is it that I can talk to some people better than others?” “The more prepared you are, the better” “You really can do an awesome service by connecting with them on a deeper level.” “They need things to be stable” “Social media has a way of sharing all the happy stuff”   Links www.staciespeaker.com/communicationuntangled Communication Untangled Group

Jess takes us through the process of deciding to go, and lists a great group of reasons to attend quality conferences. She also explains just who was there, and why that excited her. She makes an account of the first night, including such events as: hugging Pat Flynn and coercing him to hug another lady, coming face to face with a man in the washroom without realizing they were unisex, and being notably under dressed the entire time. Mastery is one of the topic that Jess took away from the summit. She explains that a lot of people aren't successful because they don't take enough time on one thing to become great at it. Consistency and Focus were other big takeaways from Youpreneur. Jess kicks off by listing off an impressive number of social media platforms she's considered using for visibility. She explains how narrowing down her focus and being consistent is behind every success stories. Jess ends things off with a talk about getting back to basics and learning what works specifically for you. She talks about the risk of following bright shiny objects, and what happens when you try to carry too many things at once. Quotes "Why do I want to go to a conference?" "I want to learn from some of the best people in the industry" "To have that amount of talent in one room was scary" "It was just a great atmosphere. People were really interested in what other people were doing." "I always want to learn more.
