Stuck in quarantine? So are we! But we're still recording and still watching movies! We discuss some films to watch on streaming services while stuck at home! Plus, both of us have discovered some incredible film history, such as the imagination of George Melies, the emotional depth of D.W. Griffith, and the art of the gag by Buster Keaton!

Fall is always an interesting time of year for films, the time for the sleeper hits to arise. And we may have some on our hands! JoJo Rabbit, Joker, and Ad Astra are discussed in today's episode! Also, a bit of classic time with Roman Holiday, Audrey Hepburn's breakout role!
Part 3 of our summer film watching! We discuss "The Sting," in which Paul Newman and Robert Redford set up the master con; "The Night of the Hunter," a gothic crime story from the eyes of a child; "Touch of Evil," Orson Welles' rather timeless police hunt involving international crime; and last but first and foremost, possibly both Jake and Stevo's favorite film of the year to date: "Whisper of the Heart," a Studio Ghibli film that calls to all artists.
In this episode, we discuss movies not released in 2019 that we saw together for the first time this past summer. We watched Denis Villeneuve's thrilling "Prisoners," Akira Kurosawa's cold modern rendition of Hamlet "The Bad Sleep Well," John Ford's masterpiece "The Searchers" starring John Wayne, and French Resistance escape film "A Man Escaped." The Oscars come but once a year! And they never fail to deliver things to talk about: movies, controversy, snubs, etc., this is shaping up to be quite an interesting ceremony. May the best film win!
Yeah, it's February, but we're looking back at our favorite movie moments that happened in 2018! What really stood out to you?
A film that took us both by surprise, even though we knew and expected a good one. This was easily a top film for both of us this year.
Two new releases deserve a watch! First, the space bio of Neil Armstrong, First Man. Watch in IMAX, the moon scene is amazing! Second, Robert Redford's swan song, The Old Man and the Gun, as charming as the man himself.
Two summer movies surprised us quite! Mission Impossible: Fallout and Leave No Trace are must sees!
Our adventure to Seattle! We visit the Cinerama 70mm Film Festival for a day to watch two classics, It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World and Lawrence of Arabia. And we had a few pleasant surprises along the way!

Plenty of questions around this movie. Is this Disney's first fail at the Star Wars Universe? Did the team overcome the pre-production mess? Was Alden Ehrenreich a worthy Han Solo? And most pressing of all, was it a good movie?
What is already the biggest movie of the year and possibly of all time, Infinity War! Frankly, it just wouldn't be right if we didn't dig into film. Plenty to digest and talk about what happened, as well as theories for the future!
A while back, we began to watch not only the AFI films, but foreign films that many consider the greatest of all time. Among these are movies made by Ingmar Bergman. In this episode, we talk about his most hailed films, The Seventh Seal, Wild Strawberries, and Persona.
It's been a few weeks since Black Panther came out, but it's definitely worth talking about. Definitely. An extermely worthy entry into the Marvel universe.

We will be discussing our lessons and progress over the next episodes, and we watched the first two this week! Plus, after the slow month of April, blockbuster season is coming up quick, and there's a lot to look forward to this May!
A name that has been popping up in film conversations lately is John Ford, best known for movies like Stagecoach and The Searchers and making John Wayne into a Hollywood star. Well, being the organic people we are, why not study this guy?
