Cyrus Chu is a distinguished Taiwanese economist. He received his Ph.D. in economics in 1985 from the University of Michigan and was elected as an Academician of Academia Sinica, Taiwan's most prestigious academic institution, in 1998. He has now still been the youngest one ever. He went on to become Taiwan's Minister of the National Science Council (2012-2014) and Ambassador to the WTO (2016-2019). In 2015, Chu joined the World Inequality Database team of French economist Thomas Piketty. Scholar or diplomat, Chu knows his stuff.
