What really existed before time, space, and form? What was Vaheguru doing before creation? In this Japji Sahib podcast episode, Bhai Baljit Singh explores the 30th pauri of Japji Sahib “Eka Maaee” and dives deep into questions that have puzzled seekers for generations.
This pauri from Japji Sahib emphasises the importance of spiritual wisdom as true nourishment. The primal sound, the divine vibration is at the heart of all creation, calling us to connect with it. The One as the supreme creator binds all of creation. The knowing and experience that you're internally complete is what it means to live in contentment. Waiting to feel fulfilled from an external factor is one of the biggest mistakes we can make in life. Bhai Baljit Singh shares the beautiful sakhi of Guru Arjan Dev Ji, who alongside Mata Ganga Ji, dressed down appearing to be regular villagers to selflessly serve the Kabul sangat who travelled hundreds of miles to have the darshan (vision) of Guru Arjan Dev Ji. The powerful sevas that Guru Ji tells the Sikh to do has the ability to transform us if we do it with devotion. In this Pauri, contrasting to the yogi tradition, we learn about what the Sikh does to keep remember the One and the impermanence of life, and what it means to conquer the world. 3 Part Series on Baba Buddha Jihttps://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL5UNLfJ1TsJld75YcsIvdcvSDMsXZtYIGWatch on YouTube: https://youtu.be/5REUwk1qn-0Topics:00:00:00 - Coming up00:01:45 - Munda Santokh00:03:31 - What is contentment?00:04:39 - Is it okay to have aspirations?00:06:19 - Hugging a child example00:08:03 - What is contentment - continued00:08:44 - Powerful Sevas the Guru tells the Sikh to do00:12:25 - Beautiful Sakhi of Kabal Sangat travelling to Amritsar Sahib to meet Guru Arjan Dev Ji00:42:08 - Munda Santokh00:50:33 - Kithaa Kaal Kuaaree Kaaeaa00:58:20 - Aaee Panthee Sagal Jamaatee Man Jeetai Jag Jeet01:01:44 - Ades Tisai Ades01:03:20 - Aad Aneel Anaad Anahat Jug Jug Eko Ves#JapjiSahib #SikhHistory #GuruArjanDevJi

This repetition turns into true remembrance and through that we fall into that priceless love. The illusion of desire keeps us thinking that bliss is one step away. Guru Nanak Dev Ji reminds us that in the same way that rivers and streams travel towards the ocean, we too can go back into that ocean of bliss in this very moment internally, even whilst we're doing our day to day tasks. Even if you've got an abundance of wealth, if you are not satisfied, you can bring a lot of distress to the world because of your hunger. You could be as small as an ant - you may not know a lot or have a lot materialistically, but because you're complete from inside, in that you've found eternal bliss, you will be of service to your life and bring peace into the world.Watch on YouTube: https://youtu.be/uRxAnwP6hM0Topics:00:00 Introduction00:50 It's not about what you know - Saalaahee Saalaahi06:40 Lose your identity - Nadeeaa Ate Vaah10:43 Not touched the essence - Kids in tuition14:51 Loose your identity - Nadeeaa Ate Vaah24:06 Sakhi of Bhagat Naam Dev Ji31:34 Even if you had this much! - Samund Saah Sultaan32:23 Nothing compared to that one who remembers Vaheguru - Keeree Tul Na Hove-ee#Spirituality #Peace #Sikh
The mind constantly keeps falling into the trap thinking it needs to know the absolute limit and end to everything and figure everything out. That's okay but it can think that once it's figured it out how this works, how that works, it's going to feel complete and satisfied and at some points it's going to come to a stop. That's an illusion because you'll never reach that place discovering more about the creation. Instead you'll find yourself in a rut of chasing pleasure.Guru Nanak Dev Ji says something very simple - sometimes hearing something so simple can make you think - is that it? You may feel you're doing something good for yourself and for the world, when the real work internally is still to be done. Let's take on the wisdom of the Guru and start letting go of the things that are holding us back from experiencing the soul.Knowing about the creation or improving the external quality of our life won't take us into a state of joy. When we're repeating actions again and again, it's forming a part of our subconscious mind. Living unconsciously means to live out of those patterns, regardless of whether they are good or bad. Spiritual awakening is when we use the tools the Guru provides to live consciously. Living consciously is being coloured in love which cleanses your mind and allows you to use your mind righteously instead of it using you.Topics:00:00 Coming up in this episode01:24 Introduction02:53 You get a bit dirty - Bhareerai Hath04:59 Wash yourself! - Paani Dhotai05:29 You soil your clothes - Moot Paleeti06:03 Get the soap out! - De Saboon06:53 Feeling stuck in habits - Bhareeai Mat, Ohu Dhopai10:49 It's no small thing! - Puni Paapi13:12 Why are you the way you are? - Kar Kar Karna17:13 Don't blame others - Aape Beej35:26 Coming out of a habit - Kar Kar Karna58:21 Divine law - Nanak Hukmi Aavhu Jaahu59:06 Amrit Vela and Sarovars03:37:37 Closing #Spirituality #Habits #Blame

What do people class as freedom? Is it to be able to make certain choices in life that you weren't able to make before? The Guru talks about freeing us from the imprisonment of ego and unconscious desires. Why is it that two different people could be doing the exact same outward action and reach a completely different spiritual state? Guru Nanak Dev Ji tells us that this path is all about devotion and standing at the door of Vaheguru (God) whilst being imbued. It's being in a state of longing, surrender and love which takes us to a state of devotion. The path is devotion. That is the way that you're going to get through those doors to Vaheguru and when somebody is on that path, you can never describe where they are internally. Vaheguru (God) is inside you. Go deep inside and listen to that intuition that lives within you. From this, the specific and relevant actions will come to you. If you use this inner voice which will always guide you in the right way, it will lead you to embracing and having divine virtues. It will guide you towards crossing this world ocean with ease. Within this listening, the divine qualities will be present. If the qualities aren't present, we're not listening. As difficult as it may be to speak the truth in today's world, it is even more difficult to live the truth. Truthful living in its full package is practised without pride (looking down upon others). Through listening deeply, we will know exactly what to say and do to access truthful living. The journey of deep listening allows us to know our own self and know the patterns of how our mind works. Once we intuitively learn to read ourself and our own mind, we can get a much deeper understanding of others too.Watch on YouTube: https://youtu.be/CVsr1ucOOBwSimon Sinek: The Number One Reason Why You're Not Succeeding | E145https://youtu.be/Q-zuTZuYeCg4Topics:00:00 Coming up in this episode01:00 Introduction01:07 Are you living truthfully? - Suniai Sat Santokh Giaan19:35 Does money make you happy? What does it actually mean to be foul-mouthed according to Guru Nanak Dev Ji? The moment we curse at God for getting things wrong is the definition of being foul-mouthed. Praising Vaheguru (God) is when we're in a state of acceptance and understanding that the things that happen around us are a play of divine will, in the same way Guru Gobind Singh Ji did, after seeing his sons and Singhs being martyred before his eyes, singing in a state of acceptance to Vaheguru, calling Vaheguru their beloved friend.Watch on YouTube: https://youtu.be/1Y6XFRxjUHAWhat is Tre Gun (Guna)? | Rajo, Tamo & Sato | Finding Spiritual Balancehttps://youtu.be/StMZ_gDoomkHow To Reach Your Full Potential | Ik Oankaar | Mool Mantar Mini Serieshttps://youtu.be/708utbjTLlgSakhi of Bhai Bhikhari Jihttps://youtu.be/78gIXLSV8XkListen on:Apple/Spotify/Google Podcasts: https://japjisahibpodcast.captivate.fmSoundCloud: https://on.soundcloud.com/A1SsBTopics:00:00 Coming up in this episode01:00 Introduction01:36 Recap - Suniai - Listening04:45 Recap on intuition12:27 Where listening can take you - Suniai Esar Brahma Ind18:12 Amazing discussion - From foul mouthing to praise - Suniai Mukh Salahan Mand45:02 You will know what to do - Suniai Jog Jugat Tan Bhed48:12 The perfect understanding - Suniai Saasat Simrit Ved53:22 Forever in bliss - Nanak Bhagta Sadaa Vigaas, Suniai Dookh Paap Ka Naas54:07 It doesn't matter how much you know!#Spirituality #Sikh #JapjiSahibPodcast
Just because we're hearing somebody talk, it doesn't necessarily mean we are actually listening to them. We can often be eager to give our pre-calculated response, instead of listening with compassion and patience. The true essence of listening is a test of our humility. Whilst listening with humility we'll not only be able to just listen to someones words, but go even deeper and tap into their feelings and emotions. Listening in this way will guide us towards listening to the divine that is in constant communication with us. Through this, we can truly blossom.Watch on YouTube: https://youtu.be/QHM61UQ8zn4Listen on:Apple/Spotify/Google Podcasts: https://japjisahibpodcast.captivate.fmSoundCloud: https://on.soundcloud.com/fBhMQ00:00 Coming up in this episode00:00 Introduction00:47 How to pronounce Suniai02:44 What is listening? 16:45 Vaheguru is all encompassing22:30 Doing Naam Jap - taking the medicine without precaution 36:14 Thorns vs the smooth path - following intuition46:44 How to release you're not listening51:26 Attaining the status of those great beings - Suniai Sidh Pir Sur Naath53:35 Knowing how the creation is supported - Suniai Dharat Dhaval Akaas55:02 Knowing about the continents and worlds - Suniai Deep Lo Paataal56:12 Death cannot tou ch you - Suniai Pohi Na Sakai Kaal57:14 Always in bliss - Nanak Bhagtaa58:14 Destroying your sins through listening - Suniai Dookh Paap Ka Naas#Spirituality #Sikh #JapjiSahibPodcast
In today's age, it's easy to fall into the trap of chasing fame, likes and followers in the hope it brings us some form of satisfaction and happiness. It doesn't matter how known we become, if we haven't come into the glance of the One, all of it is a waste. Becoming self aware of our feelings when we come to know that we have been slandered will help us to know if we are resisting God, or if we are allowing ourself to be in the glance of God and the nature of love and compassion. Being in the company of those that are virtuous can help us to experience those very virtues within ourself. Bhai Baljit Singh discusses how to practically deal with experiencing hurt and slandering whilst maintaining Godly qualities.Watch on YouTube: https://youtu.be/2qXVjrMMdj000:00 Coming up in this episode01:26 Introduction02:18 Living for ages! - Je Jug Chaare07:31 Known everywhere! - Navaa Khanda10:13 Social media influence13:52 Praised worldwide - Changa Naao Rakhaae Kai17:18 Studies on growth mindset 19:34 Being blessed with Your virtues - Nanak Nirgun Gun Kare23:40 Not letting go of You in difficult times27:59 Dealing with hurt34:13 You've been blanked without the One's grace - Je Tis Nadar 35:20 Just another ant - Keettaa Andar Keett Kar36:38 How to become more virtuous? - Nanak Nirgun Gun Kare40:48 How do you open yourself to receiving virtues?43:48 The virtues are from the One! - Tehaa Koe Na Sujhe-ee47:40 Closing Growth Mindset - Praising Effort over Abilitieshttps://www.lifeintelligence.io/blog/growth-mindset-praising-effort-over-abilityHow do you receive grace from Vaheguru (God)? by Baljit Singh #BasicsMondayMotivationhttps://youtu.be/VSDxnHnzVlo#Spirituality #Sikh #JapjiSahibPodcast
Sometimes we spend a lot of time and effort in doing certain practises that are more pleasing to us than to the One. Guru Nanak Dev Ji asks, 'what is it that we receive outside of grace?' The Guru gives us the understanding that everything comes from the One. Through the remembrance of the One (Simran), we can become aware of grace and through that, receive divine qualities.Watch on YouTube: https://youtu.be/1ZPWHF2yppwListen on:Apple/Spotify/Google Podcasts: https://japjisahibpodcast.captivate.fmSoundCloud: https://on.soundcloud.com/4n6Ka00:00 Coming up in this episode01:02 Introduction01:59 What's the point? - Teerath Naavaa03:43 True story of Sajjan Thag - Can you cleanse your mind through outwardly cleansing?09:15 Matching inner contemplation with outwardly actions 16:21 Where's your mind? - Recognising opportunities to grow 22:41 Can you blame the Guru?25:08 What do you receive outside of Grace? - Jetee Sirathh29:27 Receiving divine qualities - Mat Vich Ratan30:51 Don't let me forget the One giver - Guraa Ik Deh Bujhaaee, Sabhnaa Jeeaa32:34 Gratitude for the 'little' things43:49 ClosingWhat Is Intuition? | Saibhan | Mini Mool Mantar Serieshttps://youtu.be/IUfIsq5V-8wYou've all experienced God. What we often perceive to be the truth is tainted with the lens of ignorance (Maya). The illusion of Maya keeps us from experiencing or knowing that there is only the One. When we start to serve, seeing everything to be a play of that One, the honour we receive is the very embrace of the One.Watch on YouTube: https://youtu.be/AwFC4OwpOR4Listen on:Apple/Spotify/Google Podcasts: https://japjisahibpodcast.captivate.fmSoundCloud: https://on.soundcloud.com/pnXVt00:00 Coming up in this episode01:29 Introduction02:12 The One is Self established - Thaapia Na Jaae Keeta Na Hoe03:22 What is Maya? - Aape Aap Niranjan Soe13:14 How do you serve? - Jin Seviaa Tin Paaeaa Maan21:25 What does it mean to receive honour? - Jin Seviaa Tin Paaeaa Maan32:48 Singing Your virtues - Nanak Gaaveeai Gunee Nidaan36:12 Are you truly singing? - Gaaveeai Suneeai Man Rakheeai Bhaao47:02 Where does suffering come from? - Dukh Parhar Sukh Ghar Lai Jaae49:29 Through the Guru - Gurmukh Naadan52:48 The Guru is Everything! - Gur Esar54:31 Words vs Experience - Je Hau Jana 54:59 May I never forget the One - Gura Ik Deh, Sabhnna Jeeaa55:40 Closing#Spirituality #Sikh #JapjiSahibPodcast
We often hear that God is love but through which lens are we trying to understand God's love? Gurbani itself defines God's love for us which is that God's vision is equal upon all. To experience the love of God, Guru Nanak tells us to deeply contemplate the greatness of the One. This will open us to Vaheguru's grace allowing us to experience God's love.Watch on YouTube: https://youtu.be/P-3gM7t_5CkListen on:SoundCloud: https://on.soundcloud.com/kncL700:00 Coming up in this episode01:28 The Language of Love - Saachaa Saahib06:27 Why do bad things happen to good people?19:29 What is God's love?15:43 Desires vs Giving - Akheh Mangeh Deh Deh19:46 What can I do to experience the One? - Fer Ki Agai Rakheeai21:24 What can I say to be filled with love? - Mohu Ki Bolan Boleeai30:15 Waking up early to contemplate - Amrit Vela Sach Naao40:51 How does love and contemplation liberate you - Karmee Aavai Kaprraa46:10 Know this!... - Naanak Evai Jaaneeai
The very things sitting before our eyes can become the sign to realise God's existence. When you bring God's gifts into your awareness, it gives you the opportunity not only to think of God but also to experience the existence of God. In this third stanza of Japji Sahib, Bhai Baljit Singh discusses the different ways in which some experience a glimpse of God.Watch on YouTube: https://youtu.be/vvYDvggUcxMListen on:Apple/Spotify/Google Podcasts: https://japjisahibpodcast.captivate.fmSoundCloud: https://on.soundcloud.com/UwYiu00:00 Coming up in this episode00:52 Introduction01:20 Experiencing your power - Gaavai Ko Taan03:38 The sign of the One's existence - Gaavai Ko Daat20:44 The One's beautiful great virtues - Gaavai Ko Gun22:12 Can I be forgiven?26:19 Experiencing the One's qualities - Gaavai Ko Gun29:14 Experiencing the One through wisdom - Gaavai Ko Vidhiaa33:51 The creation bodies which eventually turn to dust - Gaavai Ko Saaj Kare35:45 Life being taken away and restored - Gaavai Ko Jee Lai41:14 Experiencing the One as close or far - Gaavai Ko Jaapai42:48 Experiencing the One to be forever present - Gaavo Ko Vekhai43:10 No shortage of those attempting to explain the One's power - Kathnaa Kathee Na Aavai Tott44:17 Millions of times! - Kath Kath Kathee45:38 The Giver keeps giving! - Dedaa De & Jugaa Jugantarl50:37 The Creator operating the creation - Hukmee Hukam51:52 Forever blossoming and carefree - Nanak Vigsai VeparvaahuAkaal Moorat: https://youtu.be/C1n1LvHdKD8
When we realise that we are bound by the One's divine will and cannot escape that, we start to step away from the multiple layers of ego that we are stuck in. Having this realisation is our doorway to liberation.Whilst being identified with the ego and being separated from the truth, we continue to remain bound to our karmic load (past experiences). The only way to break this cycle is to receive Vaheguru Ji's (God's) grace. To receive this grace, we have to play to the game that the Creator has created.Join in the conversation on Telegram:https://t.me/contemplatewithbaljitsinghWatch on YouTube: https://youtu.be/vQNJgFUhb_oListen on:Apple/Spotify/Google Podcasts: https://japjisahibpodcast.captivate.fmSoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/basicsofsikhi/japjisahibpodcast-ep2Topic:00:00 Coming up in this episode01:07 Introduction01:50 The creation from the One's Divine Will - Hukmee Hovan Akaar05:55 The journey of the soul - Hukmee Hovan Jee11:57 Is the One outside the creation?16:35 Receiving the gift of life - Hukmee Hovan Jee22:00 The divine will of peace and suffering - Hukmee Utam Neech32:20 Blessed

The Mool Mantar is the foundation of Sikhi (Sikhism). Mool, literally means root; the Mool Mantar describes the root of all existence and the qualities of that One that created everything. It describes what you are at your core (your soul) and what you have the potential to experience. Through experiencing these qualities, you can achieve the state of complete bliss. In this video, Bhai Baljit Singh summarises the meanings of the Mool Mantar. Each word has its own individual video explanation too, so if you want to delve even deeper you can check those videos out in this playlist: https://bit.ly/3jMoPCiWatch video on Tre Gun: https://youtu.be/StMZ_gDoomkWatch the podcast on YouTube: https://bit.ly/3WZPWbhJoin in the conversation on Telegram:https://t.me/contemplatewithbaljitsingh00:00 Coming up in this episode01:09 Introduction01:53 Why was the wisdom of the Mool Mantar given to us?03:44 What does 'Mool' mean?05:09 What is our origin?06:40 Experiencing that place without sorrow09:20 Ik Oankaar19:27 What is bliss?20:51 What is silence?23:14 What is Samaadhi?28:11 How can you want something you haven't experienced or seen?29:31 Satnaam34:22 Karta Purakh48:11 Nirbhau56:42 Nivair01:02:56 Akaal Moorat01:07:03 Ajooni01:08:32 Saibhan01:10:27 Gurparsad 01:12:50 Jap01:14:32 Aad Sach - Nanak Hosee Bhee Sach
