This week I am sharing a guest interview I was asked to be part of for a podcast that shares personal stories to inspire others. However, get too much firewood shoved into that firepit and you'll lose the airflow, thus choking out your fire. The same happens in our lives. We let distractions, life's circumstances, a lengthy to-do list, and mundane days choke the life out of our fire. In 2021, we all are teetering more towards burnout than passion, but it doesn't have to be that way. In this episode, we're diving into three aspects of potential and purpose: Why is living your purpose so critical What's keeping you from tapping into your potential How do you get moving in the right direction Choosing to not live out your purpose can lead to a lot of frustration because you're playing small. You guts are telling you to be more, do more... but you aren't listening. Your mind and heart are at odds trying to compel you to act, but you don't move. When you're not living your purpose, you can find yourself making excuses as to why you can't and your energy gets drained. Fear, procrastination, lack of focus and intention, and a lack of support are all things that can hold you back from living out your purpose and unleashing your potential. But there's hope! You don't have to stay stuck. You can get help to move ahead and to move past what's holding you back. Give yourself some time to make it happen. Create space and routines to do the work and start to feel the momentum taking hold. Remember, you can stop. You can rest. But you can't quit.

The 3 Things You Need To Say To Yourself

Play Episode Listen Later Sep 1, 2020 29:13

The things we say to ourselves can make or break our success. When it comes to living a life of purpose and passion, the messages we play in our head have a huge impact on our actions as well as the confidence we have in what we are capable of. In this episode, I am sharing three messages that I've leaned into to help retrain my brain to think differently. 1). "I can figure it out" - this was a message to myself many years ago and recently Marie Forleo released a book entitled Everything Is Figureoutable. This message of "I can figure it out" reminds us that there is information we can gain, things we can learn and our own creativity that can help us keep moving forward in our goals and past our obstacles. 2) "It's okay to be unique" - what you want to do, the dreams you want to chase, the accomplishments you are striving for... this may not look like anything anyone else is doing around you. And that's okay! Be encouraged that what has been placed in your heart isn't placed there by accident. Step into your uniqueness and your unique greatness. 3) "Tomorrow I can try again" - we will fall short. There are days we won't be the greatest. We will make mistakes, experience setbacks and failure, but tomorrow is another day. Don't give up... you can try again tomorrow. Both scenarios are not fun ones and leave us feeling broken, raw, exposed, and hurt. But we don't want to stay in that painful place, so how do we really learn how to trust again? How can we heal so we aren't faced with the pain over and over? In this episode, I am offering some encouragement for you to help you get to a place of healing. We are talking about the difference between true healing versus just putting a bandaid on the wound. We're addressing some ways you can walk back to trust. It's a good one, so let's dive in! Creating space to breathe

I love this quote from Thomas Kelly: "We have hints that there is a way of life vastly richer and deeper than all this hurried existence, a life of unhurried serenity and peace and power. If only we could slip over into that center." Life is busy. Our schedules are hectic. We cram a lot into our 24 hours and sometimes we pay the price. We feel stress, anxiety, overwhelm. It's as if the weight of all that we have on our plate is sitting on our chests and we can't breathe. We're being suffocated by all the demands, to-dos and pressures of life. In this episode, I am sharing some ideas and helpful tools to shift this way of living to a more unhurried serenity, peaceful and powerful way of living. I find this topic to be so critical no matter who you are or where you're from or even what stage of life you may be in because the pace of our lives has a monumental impact on the depth of our lives. When we fall into the trap that our value comes in all that we do instead of simply all that we are, we wear busy and stress as a badge of honor. So this chat is about creating room to breathe and margin in life. It's not about doing more, faster or more efficient. But it is about pushing out the noise and chaos, pushing out what's not necessary, to allow for what's most important to rise to the surface of our hearts and minds. If you would like to check out a really great book on the subject, read Keri Wyatt Kent's "Breathe: Creating space for God in a hectic life." I am also giving you a free e-book from yours truly.
