We are two cousins from opposite ends of the globe who have way too many opinions about figure skating! So we decided to record ourselves talking about anything and everything that has recently gone down in the skating world.
This Worlds 2021 Gala/World Team Trophy Selections/Olympics Spot discussion episode may be the most fun we've ever had on the pod! Seriously, it was 4:30am and we were laughing so hard. We talked about the emotional significance of Guignard and Fabbri's 7+3 program, counted the number of skaters in Keegan Messing-esque cowboy costumes, and Claudia took imaginary shots for every all-black gala costume. We also marveled at Yuzuru Hanyu's program and fought about our favorite Nathan Chen program. (Rocketman and Caravan are superior - can you tell who wrote this caption??) Finally, we both became makeshift Abby Lee Millers (except not, because she's awful) and made Dance Moms analogies and pyramids for the entirety of the episode. You won't wanna miss this episode, although there's a possibility Claudia missed the entire thing from the number of imaginary shots she took. Welcome to our two recap episodes of 2022 Euros! Our Women and Pairs episode was full of Mambo Italiano, and celebration that Josefin Taljegård will be going to the Olympics! Really, all you need.In the Pairs event, it was the battle of the top three Russian teams, where we were confused by our overwhelming enthusiasm for Boikova and Kozlovskii's Malagueña, and the general nature of Mishina and Galliamov's Snowstorm program. In the Women's event, we continued to bop our heads along with Ekaterina Ryabova to the second rendition of Mambo Italiano, and prayed that our parents would never compare us to the true grit of Anna Shcherbakova.Timestamps:(00:00) - Intro (01:05) - News(04:30) - PAIRS (05:33) - Rebecca Ghilardi & Filippo Ambrosini (07:43) - Karina Safina & Luka Berulava(10:22) - Aleksandra Boikova & Dmitri Kozlovskii(13:57) - Evgenia Tarasova & Vladimir Morozov(16:27) - Anastasia Mishina & Aleksandr Galliamov(20:31) - WOMEN(20:40) - Josefin Taljegård (23:40) - Eva-Lotta Kiibus(25:18) - Alexia Paganini(27:37) - Viktoriia Safonova(29:54) - Niina Petrokina(32:08) - Anastasia Gubanova(34:23) - Ekaterina Ryabova(36:05) - Ekaterina Kurakova(39:16) - Loena Hendrickx(42:13) - Alexandra Trusova(47:54) - Anna Shcherbakova(50:41) - Kamila Valieva(53:29) - KISS & CRY SEGMENT (54:55) - Outro------------------------------------------------Follow our figure skating podcast on:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lutzgetdownpod/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/lutzgetdownpod And to work with us please contact lutzgetdownpod@gmail.com Logo design by @dezisartvibes on Instagramxx Joce & Clauds
It's our last 2021 World Figure Skating Championships recap episode! (Well, we will be uploading a Gala/World Team Trophy/Olympics spots discussion soon, but besides that). In this recap of the Ice Dance event, we absolutely screamed for Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier's bronze medal and waved a 20ft Canadian flag in our minds, not unlike Keegan Messing in the audience. We also cried a river over some highly sus judging scores and talked (some more, again) about Greatest Showman programs. And of course a shoutout to not having to listen to “My Heart Belongs to Daddy” again! Always a relief.Timestamps:(00:00) - Intro & Event Overview(02:08) - Misato Komatsubara & Tim Koleto(06:05) - Holly Harris & Jason Chan(06:22) - Allison Reed & Saulius Ambrulevičius(09:39) - Marjorie Lajoie & Zach Lagha(16:00) - Wang Shiyue & Liu Xinyu(20:49) - Sara Hurtado & Kirill Khaliavin(24:39) - Tiffany Zahorski & Jonathan Guerriero(28:57) - Kaitlin Hawayek & Jean-Luc Baker(33:01) - Laurence Fournier-Beaudry & Nikolaj Sørensen(35:15) - Lilah Fear & Lewis Gibson(40:14) - Charlene Guignard & Marco Fabbri(46:14) - Alexandra Stepanova & Ivan Bukin(52:15) - Madison Chock & Evan Bates(56:40) - Piper Gilles & Paul Poirier(1:01:58) - Madison Hubbell & Zach Donohue(1:05:06) - Victoria Sinitsina & Nikita Katsalapov(1:12:36) - Kiss & Cry: book recommendation(1:14:42) - Outro------------------------------------------------Follow our figure skating podcast on:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lutzgetdownpod/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/lutzgetdownpod And to work with us please contact lutzgetdownpod@gmail.com Logo design by @dezisartvibes on Instagramxx Joce & Clauds
It's our second U.S. Nationals recap episode, this time with the Women and Pairs' events, and there was no shortage of positive COVID tests. After the sad withdrawals of Alysa Liu, and the heartbreak of Amber Glenn, we were able to watch on the edge of our seats as Mariah Bell won her first nationals title, Karen Chen made her way to her second Olympics, and Isabeau Levito made a splash at her first senior nationals. The pairs' event was a short one after many withdrawals due to injury and COVID, but we celebrated with Timothy LeDuc as they became the first non-binary American gold medalist (!!!!). We also cheered for our favorite dark horse team, Lu and Mitrofanov, and marveled at Jessica Calalang's phenomenal dresses.Timestamps:(00:00) - Intro(00:58) - News (Michelle Kwan's baby, Withdrawals)(05:50) - PAIRS(06:04) - Audrey Lu & Misha Mitrofanov(09:30) - Jessica Calalang & Brian Johnson(13:34) - Ashley Cain-Gribble & Tim LeDuc(18:55) - WOMEN(19:04) - Gracie Gold(21:37) - Starr Andrews(23:30) - Audrey Shin(26:22) - Amber Glenn(29:38) - Lindsay Thorngren(33:32) - Gabriella Izzo(35:56) - Isabeau Levito(38:17) - Alysa Liu(40:15) - Karen Chen(43:40) - Mariah Bell(48:15) - Kiss & Cry: Team Selections(50:25) - Kiss & Cry: Canadian Nationals & Korean Nationals(51:43) - Outro------------------------------------------------Follow our figure skating podcast on:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lutzgetdownpod/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/lutzgetdownpod And to work with us please contact lutzgetdownpod@gmail.com Logo design by @dezisartvibes on Instagramxx Joce & Clauds
US Nationals was a heck of a superspreader, er, figure skating competition! The top 7 men laid it down in the short program, and went on to lay down some chaos in the free skate. Ice Dance saw some nail biters and some boy bands as the top teams battled for the gold medal, and that coveted third Olympic spot.In the Men's event, we saw either Guy Fieri, Hot Cheetos, or the Eye of Sauron on Nathan Chen's new fiery costume, a triumphant Camden Pulkinen, and a sad boot incident for our disco dancing king, Yaroslav Paniot. In Ice Dance, we ah ah ah'ed our way through our recap, wondering how many sweatshirts Evan Bates really had on, bopping our heads to Eva Pate and Logan Bye's Bye Bye Bye RD, and crying over both Hawayek and Baker, and Green and Parsons' free dances.Timestamps:(00:00) - Intro(01:30) - News: Reed/Ambrulevičius(03:18) - ICE DANCE (03:43) - Eva Pate & Logan Bye (07:34) - Christina Carreira & Anthony Ponomarenko (11:08) - Katarina Wolfkostin & Jeffrey Chen(13:50) - Emily Bratti & Ian Somerville(16:57) - Caroline Green & Michael Parsons(20:06) - Kaitlin Hawayek & Jean-Luc Baker(25:37) - Madison Hubbell & Zach Donohue(30:37) - Madison Chock & Evan Bates(34:48) - MEN(35:21) - Artur Dmitriev Jr.(41:08) - Yaroslav Paniot(45:15) - Jimmy Ma(48:42) - Camden Pulkinen(53:18) - Jason Brown(56:35) - Vincent Zhou(1:00:56) - Ilia Malinin(1:06:14) - Nathan Chen(1:18:32) - Kiss & Cry: Team Selections(1:25:59) - Outro------------------------------------------------Follow our figure skating podcast on:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lutzgetdownpod/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/lutzgetdownpod And to work with us please contact lutzgetdownpod@gmail.com Logo design by @dezisartvibes on Instagramxx Joce & Clauds
Get ready to have your ears talked off, because this Worlds Men recap episode is our longest one yet - but for good reason! There was SO much to discuss especially when we are so invested in so many of the men! We chat about sageing the cursed ice, cry a ton more for our favourites who had rough skates, and cry even more for the skaters whose amazing performances gave us the feels. Shout outs a plenty also go out the amazing commentary from Mark Hanretty, the costumes that had color wheel decisions we at the pod don't agree with, and of course we shouted out the tutber_house TikTok account. Ladies, oh ladies. Always bringing the drama. Probably the most highly anticipated event at 2021 Worlds, we recap the main battle between the Russian wonderkids - Anna Shcherbakova, Alexandra Trusova, and Elizaveta Tuktamysheva - and the Japanese superstars - Rika Kihira, Kaori Sakamoto, and Satoko Miyahara. We cry some more tears (see a trend starting to form?) over our favourites who had a bad week, and yell with pride for our favourites who had a great week! Don't worry, we definitely also touched on the judges, and with how many hands they give out their GOEs and PCS. Overall, this episode is us still reeling from what happened in the Ladies event, and trying to collect our thoughts as best we can - don't hold your hopes too high!! :DTimestamps:(00:00) - Intro (02:00) - News, Withdrawals(06:39) - Ekaterina Kurakova(07:59) - Kailani Craine(09:32) - Alexia Paganini(10:29) - Josefin Taljegård(15:39) - Emily Bausback(17:01) - Madeline Schizas(21:20) - Ekaterina Ryabova(24:26) - Satoko MIYAHARA(29:33) - Yelim KIM(33:57) - Haein LEE(37:42) - Olga Mikutina(41:18) - Bradie Tennell(46:48) - Rika KIHIRA(51:21) - Kaori SAKAMOTO(55:56) - Loena Hendrickx(59:01) - Karen Chen(1:04:58) - Alexandra Trusova(1:10:16) - Elizaveta Tuktamysheva(1:15:30) - Anna Shcherbakova(1:28:25) - K&C: book recommendation(1:31:00) - Outro------------------------------------------------Follow our figure skating podcast on:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lutzgetdownpod/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/lutzgetdownpod And to work with us please contact lutzgetdownpod@gmail.com Logo design by @dezisartvibes on Instagramxx Joce & Clauds
Welcome to the first of our 2021 World Figure Skating Championships recaps! In this episode, we will be discussing what went down in the Pairs event, all the surprises, inspirations, and how Murphy's law started the theme of us crying for our favourites at Worlds. It was a big weekend for the Russian women, with so many phenomenal contenders (and of course, the questionable officials and adults in power) but so few qualifying spots for the Olympics and the remainder of the season. It was also a big weekend for the Russian pairs, with some surprising outings, but solid standings and tight competition. In the women's event, we cried for Liza Tuktymysheva, were Sofia Samodurova's hype women, and marveled at Kamila Valieva's performance. In the Pairs event, we debated over Mishina and Galliamov's “The Snowstorm” program (and Chock and Bates' alien program, though we probably should have saved that for American Nationals), and finally enjoyed a Malagueña program. It was a very up and down weekend in American pairs, with Alexa Knierim and Brandon Frazier winning their first gold medal as a team, while our silver medalists Jessica Calalang and Brian Johnson, as well as our bronze medalists Ashley Cain-Gribble and Tim LeDuc were battling for second place. In dance, it was all down to Madison Chock and Evan Bates versus Madison Hubbell and Zach Donohue for the gold. Welcome to our Russian Nationals recap episodes! This week, Men and Ice Dance brought the big drama, as we have a (wonderful!) somewhat-surprise Men's gold medalist in Mark Kondratiuk, and a celebration that the Backstreet Boys, Justin Bieber, and Shawn Mendez (and Alexandra Stepanova and Ivan Bukin) will likely be going to the Olympics together. We again wondered where J-Lo was in Mikhail Kolyada's SP, but were very happy to see the return of Nureyev in his FS. The mystery intensified about Dmitri Aliev's vague statements, but we wish him well as we move into the second half of the season. In the Ice Dance event, we talked about Russian athletes vs Russian officials and the absolute cluster the latter creates, and talked about teams with Good Packaging vs teams with Needs to be Improved Packaging.Timestamps:(00:00) - Intro(01:24) - News (Dmitri Soloveiv, vaccinations)(04:06) - ICE DANCE(05:05) - Tiffany Zahorski & Jonathan Guerreiro (Тиффани Загорски & Джонатан Гуейро)(11:06) - Anastasia Skoptsova & Kirill Alëshin (Анастасия Скопцова & Кирилл Алёшин)(12:54) - Elizaveta Shanaeva & Devid Naryzhnyy (Елизавета Шанаева & Дэвид Нарижный)(14:07) - Annabelle Morozov & Andrei Bagin (Аннабель Морозов & Андрей Багин)(17:55) - Elizaveta Khudaiberdieva & Egor Bazin (Елизавета Худайбердиева & Егор Базин)(20:50) - Diana Davis & Gleb Smolkin (Диана Дэвис & Глеб Смолкин)(25:39) - Aleksandra Stepanova & Ivan Bukin (Александра Степанова & Иван Букин)(29:53) - Victoria Sinitsina & Nikita Katsalapov (Викториа Синицина & Никита Катсалапов)(33:23) - MEN(34:00) - Makar Ignatov (Макар Игнатов)(36:56) - Dmitri Aliev (Дмитрий Алиев)(40:29) - Gleb Lutfullin (Глев Лутфулин)(42:28) - Alexei Erokhov (Алексей Ерохов)(46:32) - Alexander Samarin (Александр Самарин)(49:30) - Pëtr Gumennik (Пётр Гуменник)(52:16) - Evgeni Semenenko (Евгений Семененко)(56:27) - Andrei Mozalëv (Андрей Мозалёв)(58:50) - Mikhail Kolyada (Михаил Коляда)(1:03:19) - Mark Kondratiuk (Марк Кондратюк)(1:08:45) - Kiss & Cry Segment - Team announcements and discussion(1:12:54) - Outro------------------------------------------------Follow our figure skating podcast on:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lutzgetdownpod/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/lutzgetdownpod And to work with us please contact lutzgetdownpod@gmail.com Logo design by @dezisartvibes on Instagramxx Joce & Clauds
This episode is straight fire. We started with 5 time gold medalist Nathan Chen with a bit of a disappointing weekend, but our socks were knocked right off by Jason Brown and his breathtaking Sinnerman program. We cried to Mitchell Friess's 'Dear Evan Hansen' program, talked about how suitable the Vincent program is for Vincent Zhou, and really got chaotic with Javier Fernandez in Boots and our favorite flat audience member, Nathan Chamster. Japanese Nationals brought a week of exactly what we love to see - everyone skating their hardest, tight competition, and tears of joy.In Ice Dance, we had Team Koko just edging out Team KanaDai for that coveted Olympic spot, but both had some shaky performances during Nationals. In the Men's event, Yuzuru Hanyu debuted his 4A (!!!), Joce continues to hold a grudge against Shoma Uno for still refusing to take her to an Armin van Buuren show, and we show great enthusiasm for the generation of up and coming skaters. And of course in the Women's event, we cried and screamed with happiness with Kaori Sakamoto and Wakaba Higuchi, and sat on the edge of our seats to see what would happen with that third Olympic spot.Timestamps:(00:00) - Intro(01:57) - News: Chris Reed Trophy(02:58) - ICE DANCE(03:58) - Kana MURAMOTO & Daisuke TAKAHASHI (村元 哉中 & 髙橋 大輔)(07:38) - Misato KOMATSUBARA & Tim Koleto (小松原 美里 & 小松原 尊)(11:10) - MEN(11:40) - Keiji TANAKA (田中 刑事)(14:13) - Koshiro SHIMADA (島田 高志郎)(16:24) - Tatsuya TSUBOI (壷井 達也)(19:57) - Sota YAMAMOTO (山本 草太)(21:13) - Shun SATO (佐藤 駿)(24:48) - Sena MIYAKE (三宅 星南)(27:04) - Kazuki TOMONO (友野一希)(30:15) - Kao MIURA (三浦 佳生)(32:47) - Yuma KAGIYAMA (鍵山 優真)(35:46) - Shoma UNO (宇野 昌磨)(39:06) - Yuzuru HANYU (羽生 結弦)(45:16) - WOMEN (including mention of Rika KIHIRA)(47:28) - Marin HONDA (本田 真凜)(50:36) - Yuhana YOKOI (横井 ゆは菜)(52:30) - Rino MATSUIKE (松生 理乃)(53:17) - Rinka WATANABE (渡辺 倫果)(55:26) - Satoko MIYAHARA (宮原 知子)(58:10) - Mai MIHARA (三原 舞依)(1:01:56) - Mana KAWABE (河辺 愛菜)(1:04:33) - Wakaba HIGUCHI (樋口 新葉)(1:07:23) - Kaori SAKAMOTO (坂本花織)(1:08:56) - **Kiss & Cry Segment** - Team announcements and discussion(1:16:07) - General talk about Yuzu(1:18:27) - Outro------------------------------------------------Follow our figure skating podcast on:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lutzgetdownpod/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/lutzgetdownpod And to work with us please contact lutzgetdownpod@gmail.com Logo design by @dezisartvibes on Instagramxx Joce & Clauds
The American ladies competition has been tumultuous lately, and Nationals was no different. Bradie Tennell earned her well-deserved gold medal, and there was a fight for 2nd through 5th. We are ECSTATIC that Amber Glenn became the first openly pansexual woman on the American Nationals podium, and she delivered a clean and emotional free skate. Alysa Liu's return and bright spirit, and Karen Chen's spiral sequence were also muchly appreciated. And would we really be living in this season if we didn't talk about Mariah Bell's ABBA program? It was a week of close calls in Ice Dance and blue body paint in the Men's event in Sochi! In the Men's event, we ate our words as last week, we let down our defences with less chaos in France, but this week the chaos multiplied tenfold and also became much more blue. Morisi Kvitelashvili granted his own three wishes for a Grand Prix gold medal, Roman Sadovsky put himself very much in contention for that second Canadian Men's Olympic spot, and Keiji Tanaka and Kazuki Tomono star in our (completely imaginary, wishful thinking) Youtube Thrift With Me series. In Ice Dance, we had some nailbiting-ly close scores, and some very beautiful people. We talked about that Spanish Olympic spot, the return of Kaitlin Hawayek and Jean-Luc Baker, and also the return of Barbara Fusar-Poli and her stopwatch and enthusiasm. We also talked about the Men and Dance qualifiers for the Grand Prix Final, again only to announce that it is understandably but sadly canceled.Timestamps:(00:00) - Intro(01:04) - News(03:38) - ICE DANCE(03:47) - Elizaveta Khudaiberdieva & Egor Bazin(07:31) - Allison Reed & Saulius Ambrulevičius(09:51) - Anastasia Skoptsova & Kirill Alëshin(12:38) - Kaitlin Hawayek & Jean-Luc Baker(17:50) - Sara Hurtado & Kirill Khaliavin(22:13) - Laurence Fournier Beaudry & Nikolaj Sørensen(25:34) - Charlene Guignard & Marco Fabbri(28:54) - Victoria Sinitsina & Nikita Katsalapov(34:42) - MEN(35:08) - Brendan Kerry(36:54) - Nika Egadze(40:30) - Michal Brezina(42:18) - TANAKA Keiji(44:31) - Mark Kondratiuk(46:58) - Camden Pulkinen(50:13) - Evgeni Semenenko(53:49) - Matteo Rizzo(56:32) - Roman Sadovsky(59:05) - TOMONO Kazuki(1:04:17) - Mikhail Kolyada(1:08:06) - Morisi Kvitelashvili(1:15:37) - Kiss & Cry segment(1:22:22) - Outro------------------------------------------------Follow our figure skating podcast on:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lutzgetdownpod/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/lutzgetdownpod And to work with us please contact lutzgetdownpod@gmail.com Logo design by @dezisartvibes on Instagramxx Joce & Clauds
The chaos of Russian men and the 3rd-5th ice dance finishers at the 2021 Russian National Championships was a roller coaster to watch. In this episode, we recap both events. We were so happy to see the return of Stepanova and Bukin, debate The Greatest Showman program cuts, wonder how many glow sticks it took to make Mark Kondratiuk's short program costume, and hope that Mikhail Kolyada keeps his programs for the Olympics season.Timestamps:(00:00) - Intro(03:09) - Ice Dance(25:45) - Men(47:00) - Kiss & Cry: book recommendation(50:01) - Outro------------------------------------------------Follow our figure skating podcast on:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lutzgetdownpod/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/lutzgetdownpod And to work with us please contact lutzgetdownpod@gmail.com Logo design by @dezisartvibes on Instagramxx Joce & Clauds
Russian Pairs & Ladies always deliver drama, and it was no different at the 2021 Russian National Championships. This episode, we finish our coverage of this competition with chats about how deep the Pairs field is, which teams are contenders for Worlds this year (if it happens), and of course we delve into the EXPERIENCE that was the final group of the Ladies' free skate. We are here (emotionally, not physically) in Sochi for the Rostelecom Cup!In the Women's event, we have Mariah Bell in the conversation for an American Olympic spot, the battle of the Ekaterinas (Ryabova and Kurakova), and Kamila with her deserved five million world records. In the Pairs event, we have a plea for Kirsten Moore-Towers and Michael Marinaro to work with a sports psychologist, a very confident and innovative Pavliuchenko and Khodykin, and surprise appearances by Jimmy Ma, both in the Kiss & Cry, and in our comparisons to his very-in-character Black Swan program. And we discussed the Women and Pairs picks for the Grand Prix Final, only to then announce that the Grand Prix Final this year has been canceled. Japanese Nationals 2021 saw a triumphant return of some beloved champions. We marveled at Rika Kihira's “The Fire Within” and let Yuzuru Hanyu entertain us. Of course, we had to wonder if Keanu Reeves would show up in the kiss and cry if Kaori Sakamoto's blade entered the judges' Matrix, and sob over Stephane Lambiel and Shoma Uno's coaching relationship. Well well well, it's another Men's event and thankfully no one had to say the words “1st to 7th and 7th to 1st” as the chaos was taken down a notch. In the Men's event, we eagerly got our lightsabers out again to bop along to Adam Siao Him Fa's step sequence, breathed a sigh of relief for and with Kevin Aymoz, and smiled and laughed with Michael Buble for Kagiyama Yuma's second Grand Prix circuit gold medal. In Ice Dance, our favorite teenage heartthrob-filled RD from Stepanova and Bukin did not disappoint, and neither did the programs from our top two teams, as there was a battle between those top three medal spots.Timestamps:(00:00) - Intro(01:24) - News(02:04) - IDF: ICE DANCE(03:14) - Jennifer Janse van Rensburg & Benjamin Steffan(05:06) - Loïcia Demougeot & Theo le Mercier(05:54) - Allison Reed & Saulius Ambrulevičius(09:03) - Juulia Turkkila & Matthias Versluis(11:35) - Annabelle Morozov & Andrei Bagin(13:33) - Christina Carreira & Anthony Ponomarenko(16:10) - Evgeniia Loparëva & Geoffrey Brissaud(17:39) - Alexandra Stepanova & Ivan Bukin(21:44) - Piper Gilles & Paul Poirier(24:24) - Gabriella Papadakis & Guillaume Cizeron(29:03) - IDF: MEN(29:36) - Gabriele Frangipani(32:25) - Romain Ponsart(34:14 ) - Artur Danielian(36:13) - Kevin Aymoz(38:33) - Adam Siao Him Fa(40:25) - Andrei Mozalëv(42:50) - Keegan Messing(44:59) - Dmitri Aliev(46:58) - Deniss Vasiljevs(48:32) - Jason Brown(50:21) - SATO Shun(52:13) - KAGIYAMA Yuma(55:04) - Kiss & Cry segment(59:05) - Outro------------------------------------------------Follow our figure skating podcast on:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lutzgetdownpod/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/lutzgetdownpod And to work with us please contact lutzgetdownpod@gmail.com Logo design by @dezisartvibes on Instagramxx Joce & Clauds
NHK Trophy 2020 was an eventful weekend in Ice Dance, Ladies, and Men! We scream about the return of Daisuke Takahashi, cry about the curse of the 1A in the men's event, and think everyone should have a face-mask x program match after seeing Yuhana Yokoi‘s Tom and Jerry mask in the kiss & cry. We were out for NHK last week due to a family emergency but have a quick recap for you before we jump into the Women and Pairs events at Internationaux de France. In the Women's event, we SCREAMED and ascended to another dimension after Higuchi Wakaba's Lion King Free Skate, pleaded with Mariah Bell to bring back Britney, and put some makeup-safe chunky glitter in our Etsy carts so we can be more like Aliona Kostornaia. In the Pairs event, we continued to attend HSLOT in France with Vanessa James and Eric Radford (but still question the superstition of using Falling as your program music), and request more vigorous wing flapping from Boikova and Kozlovskii.P.S. It was a big week in skating, and we get stuck right into the Mens & Ice Dance events at the Rostelecom Cup Grand Prix Event! We have a chat about RusFed's not-so-subtle ice dance scoring, discuss which of the Russian men were more chaotic than the other, and of course give our notes on the costumes we saw this weekend. We are a little late, but we make up for it by stuffing this episode with analogies galore about the Budapest Trophy and Cup of China Grand Prix events. No matter the location, whether the Grand Prix is in Italy or China, this week's cohort of skaters, yet again, delivered some questionable rhythm dances and chaotic performances, leaving Claudia and Joce once again, emotionally scarred. The Ice Dance event saw the much anticipated return of Gabriella Papadakis & Guillaume Cizeron, who whacked and vogued their way to the top of the podium. Chinese team, Wang Shiyue and Liu Xinyu brought some blue suede shoes to the stage with their RD, while Alexandra Stepanova & Ivan Bukin took us through a tour of the boy-bands, fulfilling skating-Tik-Tok's king, Ivan's dreams. The Men's event was potentially hijacked by some aliens, with vague comments on their condition from Dmitri Aliev, jumps that were wild and yeeted into the atmosphere from the Italian men, and Jin Boyang and Kagiyama Yuma deciding that they would go from first to seventh and seventh to first. Definitely some UFOs (Unexpected Figure-skating Outcomes) seen this week.Timestamps:(00:00) - Intro(01:05) - News (so many withdrawals! :( again! )(03:43) - ICE DANCE(04:41) - Carolina Moscheni & Francesco Fioretti(06:08) - CHEN Hong & SUN Zhuoming(08:20) - Katharina Mueller & Tim Dieck(11:08) - Carolane Soucisse & Shane Firus(12:53) - Evgenia Lopareva & Geoffrey Brissaud(16:00) - Caroline Green & Michael Parsons(20:44) - WANG Shiyue & LIU Xinyu(24:41) - Alexandra Stepanova & Ivan Bukin(30:48) - Madison Hubbell & Zach Donohue(33:59) - Gabriella Papadakis & Guillaume Cizeron(39:24) - MEN(40:13) - Paul Fentz(41:30) - Gabriele Frangipani(45:44) - CHEN Yudong(47:57) - Dmitri Aliev(51:25) - Pëtr Gumennik(54:56) - JIN Boyang(1:00:03) - TOMONO Kazuki(1:04:19) - CHA Junhwan(1:07:34) - Deniss Vasiljevs(1:10:48) - Daniel Grassl(1:15:56) - Mikhail Kolyada(1:21:25) - KAGIYAMA Yuma(1:26:00) - Outro------------------------------------------------Follow our figure skating podcast on:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lutzgetdownpod/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/lutzgetdownpod And to work with us please contact lutzgetdownpod@gmail.com Logo design by @dezisartvibes on Instagramxx Joce & Clauds

This leg of the Grand Prix circuit was saved from disaster by the wonderful Italian federation, who seemed to have had the funds to invite the likes of Ed Sheeran and Dua Lipa to the Women & Pairs events this past weekend. In our Pairs event, we saw the start of Nicole Della Monica & Matteo Guarise's last competitive season, but their legacy and unitards are in good hands with the up and coming Italian teams. We also saw and shared the joy of the Chinese pairs team, Peng & Jin, whilst also crying heartfelt tears for Sui & Han's comments about the meaning behind their FS.In the Women's event, we cry about the disappointing skates from the oh so talented Korean women, and also shed more tears at the amazing skates the Japanese women laid down. We celebrate the return of Anna Shcherbakova and her quad flip, as well as wish Loena Hendrickx a Happy Birthday, though she had her present all covered with her amazing, history-making skates at this event.Timestamps:(00:00) - Intro(01:12) - News (so many withdrawals! :( )(03:46) - PAIRS(04:00) - Annika Hocke & Robert Kunkel(06:45) - Sara Conte & Niccolo Macii(08:50) - Alina Pepeleva & Roman Pleshkov(10:20) - Rebecca Ghilardi & Filippo Ambrosini(13:29) - Nicole Della Monica & Matteo Guarise(17:37) - Yulia Artemeva & Mikhail Nazarychev(22:05) - PENG Cheng & JIN Yang(27:45) - SUI Wenjing & HAN Cong(31:48) - WOMEN(32:40) - Lucrezia Beccari(34:01) - Lara Naki Gutmann(35:25) - Nicole Schott(37:30) - ZHU Yi(39:23) - LIM Eunsoo(43:35) - Sofia Samodurova (49:30) - KIM Yelim(51:09) - MIYAHARA Satoko(53:53) - MIHARA Mai(56:18) - Loena Hendrickx(59:50) - Maiia Khromykh(1:02:52) - Anna Shcherbakova(1:07:21) - Outro------------------------------------------------Follow our figure skating podcast on:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lutzgetdownpod/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/lutzgetdownpod And to work with us please contact lutzgetdownpod@gmail.com Logo design by @dezisartvibes on Instagramxx Joce & Clauds

It is the second senior Grand Prix event of the season and we are already exhausted, and the men's continued chaos does not help one bit. Fortunately in this Skate Canada Men and Ice Dance episode, there were some relieving and joyful moments as well.In the Ice Dance event, we pleaded with Zach Lagha to sell his Rio beak masks, continued to be both 3000 and 8 and 2000 and late with another Boom Boom Pow program, and gave bold predictions about Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier on the Olympic podium. In the Men's event, we were worried about Keegan Messing (although very much appreciated the photos of Lane and Wyatt in the K&C), and surprised by the sudden appearance of Avril Lavigne in the Matrix. We also breathed a collective sigh of relief for Nathan Chen (but not for Raf).Timestamps(00:00) - Intro(01:15) - ICE DANCE(01:55) - Haley Sales & Nikolas Wamsteeker(04:55) - Elizaveta Shanaeva & Devid Naryzhnyy(08:55) - Christina Carreira & Anthony Ponomarenko(10:52) - Lilah Fear & Lewis Gibson(15:08) - Marjorie Lajoie & Zachary Lagha(19:29) - Diana Davis & Gleb Smolkin(26:23) - Caroline Green & Michael Parsons(29:05) - Olivia Smart & Adrian Diaz(31:00) - Charlene Guignard & Marco Fabbri(32:46) - Piper Gilles & Paul Poirier(36:38) - MEN(37:20) - Roman Sadovsky(39:20) - Tomoki Hiwatashi(41:51) - TANAKA Keiji(44:35) - Conrad Orzel(47:16) - Alexander Samarin(51:03) - YAMAMOTO Sota(53:29) - Morisi Kvitelashvili(56:22) - Keegan Messing(1:01:10) - Makar Ignatov(1:04:32) - Evgeni Semenenko(1:06:46) - Jason Brown(1:09:29) - Nathan Chen(1:14:49) - Situation with Rafael Artyunyan(1:16:22) - Outro------------------------------------------------Follow our figure skating podcast on:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lutzgetdownpod/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/lutzgetdownpod And to work with us please contact lutzgetdownpod@gmail.com Logo design by @dezisartvibes on Instagramxx Joce & Clauds

The Women and Pairs events were, well, eventful, although not quite as hair raising as Men (but we'll get to them soon). The Pairs event was basically the Vancouver stop on Harry Styles' Love on Tour (well, kinda), but with the most unfortunate song lyric choice. We also celebrated with Ashley Cain-Gribble and Tim LeDuc for their bronze medal win, and canceled SBS 3S with Sui Wenjing and Han Cong (and prayed that at least one person would say his name right). In the Ladies event, we watched yet another Bolero program, although what a beautiful one it was from Kamila Valieva. We also SCREAMED for Higuchi Wakaba's Lion King program while also cursing JSF for many reasons on her behalf.Timestamps:(00:00) - Intro(05:07) - PAIRS(06:00) - Zoe Jones & Chris Boyadji(08:50) - Lori-Ann Matte & Thierry Ferland(11:47) - Kirsten Moore-Towers & Michael Marinaro(19:41) - Minerva Fabienne Hase & Nolan Seegert(24:06) - Vanessa James & Eric Radford(29:39) - Ashley Cain-Gribble & Tim LeDuc(34:50) - Daria Pavliuchenko & Denis Khodykin(41:34) - SUI Wenjing & HAN Cong(46:24) - WOMEN(46:46) - Alison Schumacher(49:26) - Emily Bausback(51:37) - Karen Chen(55:20) - KAWABE Mana(58:18) - Madeline Schizas(1:01:48) - LEE Hae-in(1:04:49) - HIGUCHI Wakaba(1:10:40) - Alysa Liu(1:14:21) - MIHARA Mai(1:19:47) - Aliona Kostornaia(1:30:28) - Elizaveta Tuktamysheva(1:34:51) - Kamila Valieva(1:43:05) - Outro------------------------------------------------Follow our figure skating podcast on:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lutzgetdownpod/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/lutzgetdownpod And to work with us please contact lutzgetdownpod@gmail.com Logo design by @dezisartvibes on Instagramxx Joce & Clauds
It is officially the Beijing 2022 Olympics! It has already been incredibly eventful, but we are going to start with the Team Event short programs and rhythm dance events. This episode was full of math as we tried to add everyone's points together, and we talked about the fight for the podium spots between ROC, USA, and Japan, as well as the fight for that 5th FS qualifying spot between China and Georgia. The Men warmed us up with notable skaters like Shoma Uno, Nathan Chen, and a special shoutout to Boyang Jin who took his first step onto home Olympic ice. Then in Ice Dance, we saw Hubbell/Donohue's amazing Janet Jackson program, and Mom and Dad (Guignard/Fabbri)'s Michael Jackson program. In Pairs, Moore-Towers/Marinaro had a redemptive skate, Miura/Kihara made us cry with Hallelujah, and of course, Sui/Han had the skate of their lives. Finally, in the Women's SP, it was so nice to see Eliska Brezinova here, as well as a phenomenal skate from Madeline Schizas.Timestamps:(00:00) - Intro(01:55) - Men's SP(25:37) - Ice Dance RD(46:40) - Pairs SP(1:00:25) - Women's SP(1:18:18) - recap of the standings after the SP(1:20:29) - Outro------------------------------------------------Follow our figure skating podcast on:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lutzgetdownpod/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/lutzgetdownpod And to work with us please contact lutzgetdownpod@gmail.com Logo design by @dezisartvibes on Instagramxx Joce & Clauds
The women's event at Skate America didn't quite have the chaos of the men's event, but there was still much to talk about. We discussed Cruella lore and the implications of Alexandra Trusova's dogs' names on her dress, cried happy tears over the appreciation of Satoko Miyahara's artistry (and lamented the judges' cruel lowballing), wished we were in Vegas to take photos with Amber Glenn and rainbow flags, and mistook Keanu Reeves for Liam Neeson but appreciated Kaori Sakamoto's new programs nonetheless. In the pairs event, we continued our search for clean side by side jumps, questioned the booking rates of Chris Martin and Coldplay, celebrated with Riku Miura and Ryuichi Kihara, and watched yet another Malagueña program while simultaneously praising that at least it's not another Bolero.Timestamps:(00:00) - Intro(02:47) - PAIRS(02:55) - Evelyn Walsh & Trent Michaud(06:22) - Chelsea Liu & Danny O'Shea(09:43) - Alina Pepeleva & Roman Pleshkov(13:00) - Jessica Calalang & Brian Johnson(16:00) - Alexa Knierim & Brandon Frazier(20:42) - Aleksandra Boikova & Dmitrii Kozlovskii(25:33) - MIURA Riku & KIHARA Ryuichi(29:17) - Evgenia Tarasova & Vladimir Morozov(33:55) - Ramble about GP season as a whole(34:43) - LADIES/WOMEN(35:08) - Audrey Shin(37:46) - YOKOI Yuhana(41:05) - Starr Andrews(43:48) - Ekaterina Kurakova(46:00) - KIM Yelim(48:55) - MIYAHARA Satoko(53:03) - Amber Glenn(56:03) - Kseniia Sinitsyna(1:01:13) - SAKAMOTO Kaori(1:07:15) - YOU Young(1:09:25) - Daria Usachëva(1:14:28) - Alexandra Trusova(1:22:40) - Outro------------------------------------------------Follow our figure skating podcast on:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lutzgetdownpod/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/lutzgetdownpod And to work with us please contact lutzgetdownpod@gmail.com Logo design by @dezisartvibes on Instagramxx Joce & Clauds
Would it really be a men's event if chaos did not abound? We will never know the answer to that as at Skate America, we again did not see peace. We talked about how everyone should lay off Nathan Chen and how we love happy and confident Vincent Zhou and the benefits of skating to a program with your name as the title. We also questioned who Joce's clubbing buddy is now that Uno Shoma is skating to Vivaldi and Bolero, and cried for and with Kevin Aymoz while joining the audience for a standing ovation. In the dance event, we pondered the placement of Yehor Yehorov's worm-ing on the ice, dated ourselves by revealing how old we were when Boom Boom Pow topped the charts, and learned the true meaning of Too Darn Hot with Evan Bates' highly insulated free dance costume.Timestamps:(00:00) - Intro(01:07) - ICE DANCE(02:38) - Molly Cesanek & Yehor Yehorov(05:06) - Carolane Soucisse & Shane Firus(06:04) - Natalia Kaliszek & Maksym Spodyriev(06:37) - KOMATSUBARA Misato & Tim Koleto(09:28) - Annabelle Morozov & Andrei Bagin(13:11) - Olivia Smart & Adrian Diaz(16:00) - Laurence Fournier Beaudry & Nikolaj Sørensen(17:55) - Madison Chock & Evan Bates(23:19) - Madison Hubbell & Zach Donohue(26:06) - MEN(26:23) - Kevin Aymoz(28:52) - Artur Danielian(30:27) - Adam Siao Him Fa(33:27) - Nam Nguyen(36:15) - Daniel Grassl(39:19) - Michal Brezina(40:50) - Jimmy Ma(44:09) - SATO Shun(46:44) - Nathan Chen(54:28) - UNO Shoma(58:03) - Vincent Zhou(1:02:46) - Outro------------------------------------------------Follow our figure skating podcast on:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lutzgetdownpod/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/lutzgetdownpod And to work with us please contact lutzgetdownpod@gmail.com Logo design by @dezisartvibes on Instagramxx Joce & Clauds
Four Continents already?! This year, it was more like Definitely Less Than Four Continents, as we had many withdrawals, but still an event with many podium finishes we loved. In the Pairs event, everyone stayed home, but we had a triumphant comeback from Evelyn Walsh and Trennt Michaud with their bronze medal and wonderfully skated SP, and a gold medal for our dark horse team in US pairs, Audrey Lu and Misha Mitrofanov. In the Men's event, it was a mixed bag (as always), but Jun-hwan Cha was our clear winner with a fantastic SP and a solid FS. Unfortunately for the American men, they did not have the competition they wanted, but we were also very glad to see two pod faves Kazuki Tomono and Kao Miura on the podium in silver and bronze, respectively. In Ice Dance, we were so grateful to see Team KanaDai again, and also that INCREDIBLE FD from Caroline Green and Michael Parsons. And finally in the Women's event, there were mixed emotions, as we cried about Korea only having two women's Olympic spots, and the fact that Mai Mihara can't even go? Criminal.Timestamps:(00:00) - Intro (01:38) - News (Olympic team selections)(03:22) - PAIRS(04:19) - Evelyn Walsh & Trennt Michaud(07:09) - Emily Chan & Spencer Akira Howe(10:08) - Audrey Lu & Misha Mitrofanov(13:15) - MEN(13:34) - Camden Pulkinen(17:46) - Jimmy Ma(19:00) - Tomoki Hiwatashi(22:37) - Brendan Kerry(26:02) - Mikhail Shaidorov(29:57) - Sena MIYAKE(34:18) - Kao MIURA(36:43) - Kazuki TOMONO(39:22) - CHA Jun-hwan(42:07) - ICE DANCE(42:17) - Christina Carreira & Anthony Ponomarenko(44:03) - Kana MURAMOTO & Daisuke TAKAHASHI(46:38) - Caroline Green & Michael Parsons(48:52) - WOMEN(49:06) - Gabrielle Daleman(51:22) - Starr Andrews(53:58) - Gabriella Izzo(55:16) - Yuhana YOKOI(57:07) - YOU Young(1:00:06) - Rino MATSUIKE(1:02:14) - Audrey Shin(1:04:36) - KIM Yelim(1:07:03) - LEE Hae-in(1:10:58) - Mai MIHARA(1:14:27) - Outro------------------------------------------------Follow our figure skating podcast on:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lutzgetdownpod/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/lutzgetdownpod And to work with us please contact lutzgetdownpod@gmail.com Logo design by @dezisartvibes on Instagramxx Joce & Clauds

We are beyond excited to bring you Lutz Get Down to Business podcast's inaugural interview guest!! We had the wonderful opportunity of spending some time talking to Camden Pulkinen - US National Team Member, 2018 US Junior National Champion, and a fan fave. We ask Camden about this season and next; discuss music, choreography, and what artistry means to him; and finish on some fun ‘rapid-fire' questions that were certainly NOT done in a rapid-fire manner. This probably is our FAVORITE thing we have done to date, and we really hope that everyone enjoys this as much as we did!P.S. We will post the video footage of this interview on our YouTube channel, so head on over there as well if you want to see our faces!Timestamps:(00:00) - Intro(01:56) - Interview with Camden(31:46) - Rapid Fire questions with Camden(52:08) - Outro------------------------------------------------Camden Pulkinen:Twitter: @CamdenPulkInstagram: @campulkWebsite: http://camdenpulkinen.comFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/CamPulkinen/ ------------------------------------------------Follow our figure skating podcast on:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lutzgetdownpod/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/lutzgetdownpod And to work with us please contact lutzgetdownpod@gmail.com Logo design by @dezisartvibes on Instagramxx Joce & Clauds
In our second 2022 Euros recap episode, there was no shortage of laughter or tears, as we nervously chuckled about Larry Loupolover's choreography, but are so incredibly sad that Allison Reed and Saulius Ambrulevicius will not be going to the Olympics despite an incredibly hard struggle to obtain Allison's Lithuanian citizenship. In the Men's event, we continued to wish for Kevin Aymoz to rest (but it's a little late now that we are right up against Olympics Eve), played some air guitar with Michal Brezina and his love for dad rock, and were SO happy for Jesus Christ Superstar, I mean, Mark Kondratiuk, who won the gold medal. In Ice Dance, there was a clear winner in the battle for the Spanish Olympics spot, with Smart and Diaz coming out on top, and an even clearer winner in Stepanova and Bukin's RD in that teenage heartthrobs will get us every time.Timestamps:(00:00) - Intro (00:48) - News (Mikhail Kolyada COVID test, Elizaveta Khudaiberdieva engagement, Sui & Han plans)(04:52) - ICE DANCE(06:20) - Allison Reed & Saulius Ambrulevicius(08:48) - Diana Davis & Gleb Smolkin (11:59) - Sara Hurtado & Kirill Khaliavin(15:00) - Lilah Fear & Lewis Gibson(16:52) - Olivia Smart & Adrian Diaz(19:10) - Charlène Guignard & Marco Fabbri(21:01) - Aleksandra Stepanova & Ivan Bukin(24:25) - Victoria Sinitsina & Nikita Katsalapov(28:33) - MEN(29:35) - Larry Loupolover (31:22) - Michal Brezina(34:12) - Gabriele Frangipani(36:40) - Kévin Aymoz(40:29) - Morisi Kvitelashvili(42:59) - Evgeni Semenenko(45:10) - Andrei Mozalëv(49:44) - Deniss Vasiljevs(52:25) - Daniel Grassl(58:14) - Mark Kondratiuk(1:01:26) - Outro------------------------------------------------Follow our figure skating podcast on:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lutzgetdownpod/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/lutzgetdownpod And to work with us please contact lutzgetdownpod@gmail.com Logo design by @dezisartvibes on Instagramxx Joce & Clauds
Our final event recap of the season is here! Much like WTT, this episode was just a lot of Claudia and Joce having fun and talking about whatever came to mind. (We talked for MUCH longer than we expected too; but don't worry, timestamps are below!!). We analysed each team's Opening Ceremony entrances, picked apart the Kiss & Cry shenanigans, and generally just mused about the skaters and their programs - some of which we have seen multiple times this season, and others which were fresh and new. Our own Kiss & Cry segment is of course filled with the drama that has come from the end of the season, featuring the battle of Hanyu Yuzuru vs quad axel, Team Tutberidze shenanigans, and a comeback that has created shock waves throughout the skating community.Timestamps:(00:00) - Intro(02:21) - WTT news: Matteo Rizzo withdrawal(03:50) - WTT team captains(07:42) - Audience at WTT, COVID precautions etc.(09:26) - Opening Ceremony(13:20) - Final results overview(14:15) - WTT Pairs(27:40) - WTT Ladies(51:34) - WTT Men(01:19:15) - WTT Ice Dance(01:28:45) - Kiss & Cry: book recommendation(01:30:21) - Kiss & Cry(01:33:40) - Outro------------------------------------------------Follow our figure skating podcast on:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lutzgetdownpod/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/lutzgetdownpod And to work with us please contact lutzgetdownpod@gmail.com Logo design by @dezisartvibes on Instagramxx Joce & Clauds
