The Hero’s Journey with Garrison Cohen

Play Episode Listen Later Feb 22, 2023 55:00

The Hero's Journey is a set of archetypal narratives found across human cultures, characterized by largely similar themes and plot elements. These include freeing oneself from the normal world, entering an unknown world (often to retrieve something or someone), overcoming challenges along the way, and returning to society with the boon. The journey often begins with a call to adventure, or a hero reluctant to follow it. In this episode, we bring on Garrison Cohen to discuss his personal relationship and teachings regarding the Hero's Journey and how every person will go through it at some point in their lives, and how to find that essence and curiosity you cultivated as a child and express it as an adult. It is not something that happens once, but rather an ongoing process that helps the hero grow and build character. About Garrison Cohen. He is devoted to his Hero's Journey through life. Along the path of this adventure, he has been an acclaimed international speaker and has written multiple TEDx talks, movie scripts and blog posts with upwards of 1 million views. He's also an evolutionary coach, podcast host, workshop leader, multi award winning filmmaker and a transformational jewelry designer with permanent pieces in the Smithsonian Museum. He's been a co-owner of Authentic World Media, Evoka Media and The Authentic Man Program where the content he's created on empowered relating between the masculine and feminine has sold worldwide. Garrison draws on a lifetime of experience in neurolinguistics, storytelling, men's work, filmmaking, stage speaking and his own deeply intuitive and empathic understandings of humans, the world and the fabric of relationships that connects it all together. He has the ability to see the stepping stones between where someone is and where they really want to be. He believes that anything is possible with the right understanding and that mastering the art of relationship with self and others is the direct path to a profound and fulfilling life. Let's brainstorm: what makes a good relationship? Effective communication, compatibility, shared values, and good sex all come to mind. But how about money management? It might not be as obvious, but the fact is that money is one of the most crucial factors in a romantic relationship. In fact, it's the #1 thing that couples fight about it and the #2 reason they get divorced! Building a solid financial foundation in a relationship can help set you up for success. And like anything worth doing, it takes some work! Money is both practical and emotional, and we must acknowledge both ways it impacts our relationships. Why Money Matters in Relationships Money is a pervasive factor in our lives. It dominates our daily decision-making and has the power to dramatically influence the path we take. Since money is so important to daily life, it must be important in our relationships! Here's the problem: most of us were never taught how to be good with money.    Craig Saloner has been an entrepreneur and working with finances for over 20 years.  He brings his knowledge of finances and relationships to the podcast.  He is the creator of Finance4Couples and Empowered Wealth For Women. which is his current focus helping women master their finances!       In today's episode Michelle Berry, Founder of P Corp joins us for an engaging conversation about how having a personal Board can bring deep fulfillment to your life. We discuss the following topics: How to choose the right Board members to advise and influence your life How to invite members to formally be a part of your Board and say YES How to create an effective life planning framework to achieve results faster How to conduct an epic Board retreat to achieve your goals twice as fast How to develop a feedback and accountability system for lifelong success Everyone will go through a crisis in their life, whether marital, health, career or with our children. It is imperative to have a trusted group of advisors to help you through life's greatest challenges and opportunities. According to the Blue Zone studies in places where people live to be greater than 100 years old, community is one of the leading factors of longevity and vitality.  Unfortunately, in many cultures today we don't have the same level of community as we once had, nor are generations of family all living under one roof, or in one village together.  So how do we create this type of community in modern times?  Creating a personal Board of Advisors is one way to do that.  If you'd like to learn more about P Corp and how to create your own personal Board you can reach out to Michelle Berry via our contact form to the left of this page.
