Where we talk about money, mindset, confidence. (And yes, B.S. a little.)
Hi, I'm Belinda.Season two has come to an end, and I've been reflecting on all the wonderful episodes we've had thus far. While we're on hiatus, I invite you to go back and enjoy Season 1 and Season 2.Also
Have you ever gotten pushback on something that was really important to you? When you choose to put your work into the world, you are 100% allowing the world to make a decision about whether or not they like your work, and sometimes that comes with feedback, criticism or pushback. So in this episode of It's All BS we're diving into what to do when that happens. We talk about:
I am so beyond excited to introduce you to one of the top amazing ideas that I have been able to be a part of.
Procrastination is something that many of us struggle with. Sometimes there are things we want to try or start, but we keep putting it off and putting it off. Maybe it's doing more hiking and camping, learning to crochet, or incorporating meditation into our daily routines. Whatever it is, we put it off, and then before we know it, another year has passed without doing the thing we want to do. In business there are many different things that can lead you to procrastinate. So in this episode of It's All BS, we're diving into why you should get your hiney in the chair. We talk about:
We're switching things up a bit today and talking about something that's a little different than usual.Everywhere in our lives we are surrounded by beauty images that sell the ideal of beauty: what we define as beauty and how we see it. This is what you need to look like to feel and to be beautiful, and we're all supposed to be skinny with a perfect body.
Sometimes people are put specifically in your world at the exact right time.I was introduced to my song-writer friend Carrie through some friends. She was very talented, and I knew she needed to be around people who could make her even sharper. Around that same time, my other friend Joel was looking for a new writer to invite to his retreat, and I shared with him that she would be a great fit. She went, and it basically changed her entire life.Carrie won her very first BMI award this week.
What would our business and lives be like if we looked through the lens of simplicity? Are we making things more difficult than they need to be?Are we doing too many things? Can it be more simple? In today's episode of It's All BS we talk about:
In today's episode of It's All BS, I want to talk about something that I have experienced personally, and I know it affects all of us, especially brand-new coaches trying to build their business. You want to build your business, and you want to keep doing things you love. You get online and see everyone talk about how good everything is. But what if you are doing everything you know how to do, putting everything you have into it, and it's still not working? In this episode we talk about:
I work a lot in the online space and coaching industry. If you come to me with a dream, I'm going to help you chase it. And I don't want you to make the same mistakes that I have made and have seen others make. There has been a recent shift in the online space, and I have been noticing some things that are just not ok. So in today's episode of It's All BS, I'm sharing 3 important lessons you should learn right now. We talk about:
What comes to mind when you hear the word “servant”? What about “leader”?When I hear the word servant, I can't help but think of Downton Abbey.
The other day I was waiting in the car while a friend went into the store. We were parked near a very busy intersection, and I was just watching out the window as I waited. Across the many lanes of traffic, I noticed a young guy walking down the sidewalk wearing big, noise canceling headphones. As he walked, I kept waiting for him to look behind him or look around for people or cars or anything he might need to be aware of. For the entire time that he was in my line of sight, he did not so much as glance over his shoulder to see if someone was behind him.It really got me thinking about what a fascinatingly different experience this guy has than a lot of my female friends and I have. I would never in a million years put on noise canceling headphones and walk down the street or anywhere without being able to hear my surroundings. And it started to make me angry that I have to have those thoughts of safety when other people don't. I was starting to worry about why I didn't have what somebody else had.We tend to do this in life, in business, and in relationships. So in today's episode of It's All BS, we're discussing why you will be happier when you stop watching other people. We talk about:
Often, in the many facets of our life, we face mountains. Sometimes when we face it, we know that if we can just scale that mountain, we're going to get to the other side, and it's going to be awesome. We may face valleys, but we will press on. And then there will be other mountains to climb. So we continue on, one foot in front of the other. Sometimes you face a mountain so high, the top may even be hidden from your view. The path may look steep and rocky. You may not even see a place to take your next step. But what if your mountain could speak? What if the obstacle you are facing was an entity that could actually encourage you?In today's episode of It's All BS, we're discussing your mountain, and why you should keep climbing. We talk about:
When I got my first job, I was so excited to just be there. But whether or not I thought about it at that time, my employer and I had entered into a partnership. When we are in a partnership, whether business or relationship, there is give and take. We look at what you can provide to me and what I can provide to you in order to make this an equal exchange. Everyone needs each other on the same level. But what happens if things start to feel out of balance? This has come up in conversations with several clients lately. So today we're diving in to find out if you are playing offense or defense with your clients. We talk about:
Today I'm doing something a little different. If you are familiar with me or this podcast, then you probably know that I am a song writer. There is a particular song that I wrote that has been coming up a lot lately. The song was written as kind of a theme song for a book that I love called The Funeral Dress by Susan Greg Gilmore.I know several friends and acquaintances who are dealing with grief and loss. There are a lot of times where I think we need to make sure that we are truly holding each other up. When we have a moment where we can speak into somebody or help somebody along, I really believe we need to take those opportunities to share experiences. So today I am actually going to play you a song. I thought that maybe we could all listen to this one and just be reminded that we are in this together.
Hello Beautifuls! There are lessons to be learned all throughout life. Last week we talked about things we can learn from timeshare salespeople. This week I've been thinking about things we can learn from the people we know and also about the lessons I have learned myself, not just in sales, but in creativity and in my own life.In this episode of It's All BS, I want to talk to you about 3 lessons I've learned so you don't have to.We talk about:
Recently, I was asked by a new friend about a timeshare. When it comes to timeshares, I know people on both sides of the debate, those who love them and those who have tried everything to try to get out of them. I also know people who think timeshare associates are complete slime, and all the salespeople are disgusting. There is an entire circle around this, and I'm not here to convince you either way. It makes no difference to me, and it's really beside the point. However, in order to share this lesson with you, I want to tell you about my recent experience… how it came about, how it ended, and all the things in between. In this episode we talk about:
This is going to be short and to the point today. Just a few days after burying 3 children and 3 adults after a mass shooting here in Nashville, there was another mass shooting in a bank in Louisville.Meanwhile, our governor in Tennessee is focusing on banning drag queens “to protect the children”.My heart is heavy, so today, I offer you all I have.Courtesy of Martin Niemöller.Love and light to you, Beautifuls.
Hello Beautifuls! Welcome to It's All BS, the podcast about success and mindset where I'm on a mission to help you get unhooked from what's keeping you from having the life you want. If you follow me on social media, you may have seen a simple quote that I made and decided to sprinkle in here and there. I first put it out a few years ago, and I share it from time to time. What's interesting is how many people have reached out on the days I have shared it and thanked me because they needed to hear that. The people who are supposed to see it, see it on that day. So in todays' episode I'm sharing the main secret I tell my clients, and this just may be the message you need to hear today. We talk about:
Last year I saw a solo artist on America's Got Talent that really blew me away. He had the perfect marriage of voice, writing, melody, and the whole thing. I looked him up online and saw that he was actually the lead singer of a band called the Nicotine Dolls who just so happened to be making their first stop on tour in Nashville. I wasn't sure how well he would transfer from solo artist to band but decided to go see them perform. When I heard the entire band together, it was perfect. He was crazy talented on his own, but when you add the band, the background vocals, and the musicians, his voice was perfect with it. You may be fantastic on your own. You may be crazy talented. You may be that person who stands out. But in today's episode of It's All BS, we're talking about why you need the people around you to shine. We discuss:
Hello Beautifuls! I have a very special guest today, and I'm excited for you to meet Eileen West, my first scholarship recipient. Eileen found out about me and my scholarship from a mutual friend and decided to apply. She didn't know me, and she didn't think she would win, but she decided to take a chance anyway. Now, Eileen and I have been working together for several years, and today Eileen is a successful transformational mindset coach for women at The Mind-Body Badass. In this episode we talk about:
When you put something out there - whether your life, your clothes, your personality, whatever – you are telling a story to the people around you about who you are. And your "story" may be different depending on where you are and what you're doing. You are a narrator for that particular moment or day. In today's episode of It's All BS, we discuss what it means to be the narrator of your own life. We talk about:
Hello Beautifuls! I am so delighted and honored to welcome the amazing Susan Anslinger on today's episode of It's All BS. Susan is a life coach who helps women who are struggling to find themselves or who may feel guilty about giving themselves attention. She shows them step by step how to stop putting themselves in the backseat of their own lives, how to get in the driver's seat, and how to start taking immense care of themselves. We talk about:
Last week we talked about what it's like to actually listen and what you could learn from really listening. I'm back this week to give you some things to think about as you strengthen this skill. This world was not built for people with disabilities in mind. And even when people are trying to have different representations of minority groups, disabled persons are often overlooked. That doesn't mean that the world should drop everything to accommodate me or others with disabilities, however there are things that do come up that people often do not consider. In this episode of It's All BS we're diving into ableism and what I'd like you to know about it.We'll talk about:
A couple of weeks ago I had an incredibly embarrassing and frustrating thing happen to me. As you may know, I have a foot that is fused in the walking position. When I go down stairs, it requires precise balance and placement of my foot to navigate that. On this particular evening, I was leaving a writers' night in downtown Nashville, and I did not properly place my foot while going down the stairs, causing me to tumble down the steps and hit my head on the concrete. The ambulance came, and I went to the hospital. It was a whole big thing. I'm fine now, but here's the problem... I tried to explain the situation, but everyone had already decided the truth of who I am and what had happened. Nothing I said made any difference.I don't like this story, but I'm telling you because I think it's important that we discuss it. So often many of us are told things that are not true, and we're expected to believe things because everyone else says they are true. But in today's episode of It's All BS, I want you to consider, what could you learn if you just listened? We talk about:
Things get hard. Life gets complicated. But just because things are hard, it doesn't mean you quit.In today's episode of It's All BS, I'm sharing a personal journey and experience where things felt very hard for me. Anger over my mom's battle with cancer and her death started to impact my ability to write songs and threatened my writing deal. But even through all that, I knew I was not quitting. In this episode we talk about:
This time of year, there is a lot of talk about goals, but I think the word “goal” seems so far out there. You have to attain a goal, so it kind of leaves an emptiness between now and the goal. I like to think about things more like mile markers, like when you're driving down the freeway. You know where you're going, but there are markers all along the way dividing up your trip. You know you can make it from here to there, because there are small steps with tangible markers. And all those things around you, all those markers, they are also cues that let you know where you are. In today's episode of It's All BS, I want to talk to you about creating “markers” for yourself and why clearing your desk matters for success. We talk about:
I've been thinking about my childhood lately. Looking back there are a couple of things that I did when I was little, and it's funny how those things have come back around recently. In today's episode of It's All BS, I'm sharing three of my favorite childhood stories and the lessons I learned then that are relevant today. We talk about:
Hello Beautifuls! Happy 2023!
Welcome to It's All BS. You may want to pull up a chair for this one, because I'm about to share some truth with you. We are done with people coming and sharing their unsolicited opinions and trying to make us feel bad about what we are doing. So today I'm sharing my 3 Step Process to Handle Unsolicited Advice. As we go into the new year, it's important to keep this information in mind. In this episode we talk about:
Hello Beautifuls, and welcome to It's All BS. Today I want to talk about all the single ladies in the virtual world and the self-employed world. I think sometimes we are overlooked in the conversations. I want you to know that you're not alone, and you're not the only one.In this episode we discuss:
There is a big difference between knowing something and *knowing* something. In today's episode of It's All BS, we explore how knowing vs *knowing* can impact our lives. We discuss:
Online dating can be so one-dimensional. You look at a photo that was taken at the perfect angle, in the perfect light that shows exactly what the other person wants you to see. But people are so much more than a carefully curated photo or profile. In today's episode of It's All BS, I want to share a personal experience with you and what I learned from it.We talk about:
In today's episode of It's All BS, we're talking about deciding who you want to be and what kind of effect you want to leave on the world. And why does that matter now?You are put here with your specific skills, your specific abilities, and your spheres of influence and circles of references. You're here with all of those things that you can do that nobody else does. I believe that those are the actual things that we should choose to use to their fullest potential so that we're filling the world with us and what we want to see in the world and leaving behind something a little bit better for having been there. In this episode we discuss:
Hello Beautifuls! In today's episode of It's All BS, I want to talk about the most joyous and uplifting topic, so put on your happy pants.
Hello Beautifuls! In today's episode of It's All BS, I want to talk to you about people who suck your energy. We'll call them energy suckers.
In today's episode of It's All BS, I want to talk to you about “haters”. This subject has been coming up a lot lately, and some of my clients are afraid of pushback when they talk or type on the internet. A lot of us are present on social media. Whether for business, marketing, fun, friendship, or whatever your reason is, social media has become a very large part of most of our lives. So, what do you do when someone leaves you a review, feedback, or comment that you feel is negative? In this episode we talk about:
Hello Beautifuls and welcome to today's episode of It's All BS: A Success Podcast! It is important for us as people, particularly as artists, creatives, writers, and dreamers, to remember that how we present ourselves to the world and the words we put on a page create an impression. But once it's out there, you don't get to make any disclaimers. People don't know your story. They don't see the blood, sweat, and tears that went into it, and they don't care about all the back stuff. At that point it's all about them as the listener or consumer and how your impression relates to them. So what if people think your “baby” is ugly?In this episode we talk about:
Hello Beautifuls! Welcome to another episode of It's All BS!Today I want to talk to you about something that comes up a lot as a song writer, working with a lot of creatives, and in coaching people. Often, people want to be something… an artist, an entrepreneur, a writer, a singer. Whatever it is that you want to be, there is an important key to achieving your goal that I want you to know. We talk about:
Hello Beautifuls and welcome to It's All BS: A Success Podcast! Has anyone ever told you that one day you will “get there”? Or maybe you have said it to yourself, “One day I will get there, and I will keep plugging away until it happens.” As a creative person, whether you're an entrepreneur creating a business, a music person, author, or any creative work that you're doing, you're never going to get there. Today I want to talk to you about why you'll never get “there” and why that's okay.We discuss:
Hello Beautifuls, and welcome to today's episode of It's All BS!We have a tendency as humans to make things way more complicated than they need to be, but you can make things simple for yourself. Everything doesn't have to be so hard. Today I wanted to talk to you about why working backward can actually move you forward. We discuss:
Hello and welcome to Episode 2 of Season 2: It's ALL BS! Today I want to talk to you about being authentically you. There is a standard of measure that I have been using for 20 years called the So-What Factor. You can dress yourself up the way you want people to see you. You can say and do all the right things. But often what is missing is the so-what factor. If you are just a clone of the person beside you and the person before you, then “So what?” Who really cares? It's the same thing. What's missing is YOU!We talk about:
Hello Beautifuls, welcome to the It's All BS podcast! Maybe you've heard that BS is a bad thing, but I'm reclaiming it as Belinda Smith. We're going to be doing things my way and talking all about success and mindset. Today I wanna talk to you about persistence. If you have something that you really, really want in life, then this episode is for you! We talk about:
Welcome to the final episode of Season 1 of the podcast. We have officially been together for a year, and I want to thank you for being here with me.
Hello Beautifuls! Today we're building on last week's episode which was about why you should never give up on your passion. But what happens when you're pursuing that passion with everything you have, and nothing seems to be happening? What do you do when you're just so tired of trying, and you just wanna quit?I'm here to share some things that I have been through in my life that may help you as you're pursuing whatever it is in your life that you love. We'll talk about:
Welcome to Episode #50 of Money BS! Today we're talking about relentlessly pursuing your passion. I don't believe that most of us only have one passion, and we can be passionate about several things at once. However, there are some things that just can't go away and absolutely will not get off your heart. You just know it is meant for you.For me that passion is being a song writer. The fire and love for music was put in me from a very early age, but the journey from there to where I am today was definitely not in a nice, neat, straight line. So today I'm sharing my story, and I hope it gives you some motivation and encouragement. In this episode we'll talk about:
I am so happy to have special guest Maggie Reyes with us today. Maggie is the absolute best possible marriage mentor/coach, and she helps women have better relationships.Today we're exploring how you can you follow your dreams, have a successful career, and have a stable, loving relationship that feels like a sanctuary. We'll talk about:
I want to talk today about something you don't often hear of on a podcast, but it's something that I feel is really important to talk about. As much as we want to curate a positive outlook and to be positive for the people around us, the truth is that not every moment is positive. A lot of times, getting to the next thing can feel hard. Sometimes we may have to figure out why it's hard while we're in the middle of trying to do it. When we are taking our next steps, we start right now where we are and step forward, but sometimes the action we are taking doesn't really feel like an action. In today's episode we'll talk about:
Good day, Beautifuls! I want to talk to you today about how giving yourself permission can lead to HUGE success. When we are trying to do something new or unfamiliar or trying to accomplish a goal that we have not yet accomplished, what often holds us back is not giving ourselves permission to truly succeed. In this episode we'll talk about how to:
Hello Beautifuls! Today we're talking about asking for criticism and processing it without dying. You can call it feedback if you prefer, but feedback and criticism aren't different. You can use both terms interchangeably.
People tend to want all things strategy. Mindset work doesn't seem that interesting. However, if your mindset isn't right, you can be given all the strategy, and it just won't get you where you want to be. My client who reached $1.4 million in sales in two weeks will tell you… She knew what to do and how to reach her goal, but she just couldn't implement it and get past her own crap to actually put it into motion. Mindset is everything, and that was the piece that was missing for so long and keeping her from reaching her goals. It really is incredible how many tools there are that you can use for thought management. Today I'm going to share two tools you can use right now to uplevel your thoughts. We'll talk about:
I'm sure you see this as much as I do... Someone posts on social media. Then everyone starts swooping in and turns that post it into whatever it is that they think it means. Meanwhile the original poster says they didn't mean for their post to offend anyone and starts trying to defend themselves. Blah, blah, blah.
