In this episode of Real Talk With Rhi, I'm sharing my experience of navigating my son William's autism diagnosis – from the early signs, the assessment process, and the moment a professional told me he'd never be in mainstream school (she was wrong!).This journey was the first step in understanding not just William, but all of my children, and it completely changed the way I approach parenting. Click to send me a message! If you're going through the autism assessment process with your child, I see you. Having been through this four times myself, I know just how taxing, stressful, frustrating, and never-ending it can feel.So many parents I've spoken to have felt dismissed, judged, and even gaslit at some point during the process. You bring up concerns about your child, only to be met with “They seem fine to me,” or “All kids do that.” Schools, family members, even professionals can leave you doubting yourself, making you wonder if you're imagining things.I want you to know: you are not alone. This post isn't just about the practical steps of the assessment process (though I have a whole guide on that if you need it). Instead, I want to focus on what we as parents need to do to stay strong, advocate effectively, and manage the emotional toll that this process can take.Welcome to Real Talk With Rhi - for Mums that want to go from surviving to thriving in motherhood in a neurospicy world.
